First off: the food is excellent. No qualifying it. This is authentic Asian cooking by a skilled chef and kitchen. The dumplings are the star attraction, and they earn it. You can get them steamed, boiled, or fried, and you can get them in a hot soup made of an indescribably delicious broth with succulent vegetables. They also offer the dumplings in a "rainbow" assortment, with the wraps' hues produced only by natural vegetable colorings. No food dyes or anything synthetic. Each color shows what is inside, such as green for vegetarian, and there's an option for lamb or pork/shrimp filling, known as "Signature." We were a party of four on a birthday dinner outing. We had the large rainbow and everything was amazing. We also had the chicken dumplings with hot soup, and an order of the Korean BBQ short ribs. The ribs are marinated for a couple of days before searing them and presenting them with a mound of rice with black sesame seeds and a sample of the really wonderful homemade kimchi. The Angus beef makes the just-right doneness both crisp and tender. You should be aware that this is a small, family-run restaurant. Each dish is prepared and served separately, to assure freshly-made savor, I assume. So the ribs I ordered came out several minutes before the dumplings, and the dumplings in soup arrived a few minutes after that. We had no problem with that sequence, but others may. They also had an issue with the machine that makes all the "fancy" non-alcoholic drinks, so the choices were limited to canned or bottled sodas/teas in a cooler, and iced or hot coffee, or water from a dispenser near the register. But we were just fine with our selections. As we were leaving, the chef found out we were doing a birthday dinner and insisted on making something special. She came out several minutes later with a box of piping-hot sesame-coated desserts: little spheres with a slightly sweet red bean paste inside the shell. So nice. Takeout is big there, and they have amazing other dishes we didn't sample, so we'll be back, for sure. read more

What a great surprise! We stopped here while passing through on our way back to Texas and honestly didn't have high expectations. From the moment we walked in, the service was friendly and attentive, and the food exceeded every expectation. Fantastic food! Closest thing i have had to a home made meal at a restaurant in a long time. Rainbow dumpling in broth was a nice variety and broth was rich and flavorful with low spice. Pan fried pork bao buns were cooked perfectly and the dough was a perfect moist texture. I spoke with the gentleman for a while and the woman in the kitchen checked to make sure it came out good. A cold fall evening deserves a hot soup and pan-fried dumplings. Jessica and Greg @ Lotus Dumpling House delivered. They were warm and friendly, from the moment we were seated at a cozy table. The restaurant wasn't too crowded when we arrived, but a few more tables came in as we were finishing up. The hand made dumplings were beautiful (definitely go pan-fried) and very tasty. I had the pan-fried pork dumplings and my husband had chicken dumplings in broth. The broth was big enough to share and was SO rich. We also ordered the pan-fried pork buns and crispy scallion pancakes. I highly recommend giving this place a try. They take online orders, too. My brother, sister and I stopped by here on our way to a Daft Punk show at Meow Wolf. We wanted to try something close by and local if possible. I think we found what we were looking for. Lotus Dumpling House is a cute little spot. The cashier/server was very friendly and was patient with us while we drooled over the items on the menu trying to quickly put our order together. We ordered quite a bit for the three of us, but we didn't know when we would be back so we wanted to try a little of of everything. All of the dumplings were delicious. And don't be fooled they are not frozen but made in house! The beef buns were so tasty and the dough was so soft, might have been my favorite. Let's not forget the Korean Pancakes and the Korean Bibimbap with Tofu. They were both also, de-li-cious. We enjoyed everything we ordered. We dropped into this little dumpling shop and had surprisingly excellent dumplings... But first... if you read any reviews that talk about "Asian food" take them with a grain of salt. It's like saying European food (instead of French or Italian food) or North American food (instead of Mexican or American food)... Doesn't make sense, you see... I don't love the dumpling sauce because it's a little sour and my preferred at home mix is mae ploy with soy sauce but that's just personal preference--my mom loved the sauce. zucchini pockets are actually my favorite they are filled with scallions and have a great crunch! will for sure come back next time i'm in town to keep exploring the menu:) read more

My friend and I went here with no huge expectations even though this particular restaurant had great reviews and high star ratings. The restaurant is very clean and has an opening and welcoming presence. We were greeted and met by a kind woman who gave us menus and told us to pick a table. We ordered dumplings of course, I had the bibimbap and my friend had the Chinese burger. Dumplings were delicious, pan fried is the way to go, boiled dumplings are not my cup of tea. The bibimbap was okay, I'm more used to the sizzling clay pot where the burnt rice on the bottom is the best part. However, her version was a clean and still yummy. On top of the rice was traditional namuls(sea weed, bean sprouts, pickled cucumbers), fried egg on top, and I added bulgogi(Korean bbq meat). The only ingredient missing which threw me for a loop was kimchi(pickled cabbage), that's a staple for Korean food. Alas, bibimbap was tasty but could be better. The Chinese burger is a good concept and was enjoyable. While waiting, I had a very nice conversation with the owner/server. She asked me if I am Korean, to which I answered yes and we automatically shared stories of our brief history. That is something I love to do and how I can connect to other Koreans. After learning brief history of her story, I understand why she has a Korean & Chinese fusion-y NM restaurant. The vibe of this place is more of a friendly, quick bite, and chill scene. I don't need expensive china plates or metal utensils to have a great experience at a restaurant. Great company, good food, and nice waitstaff/owners make a great restaurant. Also they have good Boba tea and they prepare the boba quite nicely too. Some places burn boba or don't cook enough so you get hard boba. They have a wide selection of flavors too. The 5-star reviews must've been written by friends of the new owner or by people who have never had good Asian food. We've had pretty much the same experience as the reviewer Peter N. The scallion pancakes look absolutely *nothing* like the photos you see on the menus: no scallions, just crispy fried dough and tasteless. The server recommended the burger which, amazingly, was dry and bland! How can a professional cook screw that up so badly? Our friends ordered dumplings, the burrito and egg rolls. We tasted the burrito (it was the only tasty food on the table), and the dumplings, which were truly unremarkable, and I am being generous here... As for the egg rolls, we didn't have the heart to take a bite because they were really small (our friends didn't seem to enjoy them). If I had to recommend a dish: the burrito but just because it was the only tasty dish on our table. My advice to the owner: 1. Fire your current cook! If you want your restaurant to thrive you need to find a cook with true knowledge of Asian food. 2. Use china and silverware! In restaurants, people do not enjoy eating off paper plates and flimsy plastic flatware. read more

I have to worry about a dumpling house that now also offers bibimbap and Japanese curry when their signature dumplings are merely adequate. I, too, have had better store bought dumplings, though this is not to say that all pre-packaged frozen dumplings are equally better. There were only microscopic trace amounts of scallion in the scallion pancakes, which themselves were rather chewy, rather than light and crisp. The pork buns are basically dumplings in bun form which is mildly confusing, even though I wasn't expecting char siu bao. The "burrito" was an interesting concoction, redolent of the thick rice noodle dish that is often served on plates wrapped around tiny shrimp with a sauce over them. The "hamburger" is a dry imitation of the Xi'an street food which it closely resembles, lacking the savory spicy juiciness that makes the original item so delicious. Basically, this is a fast food version of Chinese dumplings that is probably interesting enough for most people in this town, but not for somebody looking to experience something closer to "home." The signature dumplings, however, were still the best received of all of the items we ordered by everybody in our household. read more

Delighted to find this place, purchased several types of dumpling to take home and steam for dinner. Attached photo is how they turned out, gummy and stuck together. They did not come with special instructions so I steamed them as I have other dumplings many times before.
