But here's the icing on the cake. Tonight... my food was delivered in a RE-USABLE, RECYCLABLE thermal zipper bag!! No plastic... in fact, no plastic at ALL! Hands down the best Chinese food in Santa Fe, and this is coming from someone who is certified Chinese. The scallion pancakes were perfectly crispy and flavorful and the egg drop soup was simply perfect! We also ordered several other delicious dishes. I highly recommend the chow fun and crispy tofu but strongly advise going with a group so you can try as many dishes as possible. I went to Yin Yang with a guest for lunch today after hearing they had a Buffett. The restaurant is located in a building that has been converted into a food court. It has adequate indoor seating and no outdoor seating. It is located close to the plaza, which is walking distance from much of tourist Santa Fe. However, this also means that parking can be an issue. The Buffett is small; however, the quality is awesome. It is also only $14, which is as much as you would spend at a fast food restaurant these days. The food was delicious and cooked perfectly. We also ordered a sake, which I highly recommend. Very pleased. So, people have said that there is no good Chinese food in Santa Fe. I don't agree. Granted, it isn't as good as what I could get back in California, but it's darn good nonetheless. Dinner on Saturday night. Not very crowded. Butterfly shrimp was just okay. Sesame Tofu was great. Vegetable Lo Mein very tasty. Sweet and sour pork very good. Fried rice good. Reasonable prices. Attentive waitstaff. Space itself is a bit funky, but I don't go for the space. We'll be back to explore the menu. read more

Yin Yang is across the street from my office and I've not gone in ages because of a less than stellar experience about 5 years ago. I am SO happy I tried them again and especially for lunch! I have been ordering the $11 lunch special with 7 vegetables and tofu, brown rice, a cup of hot and sour soup and an egg roll. It can easily be 2 meals! The egg roll is mediocre but the hot and sour soup is fantastic and the main dish is excellent. I've ordered this at least 5 times in the past 2 months and have been thankful they provide me a healthy, nourishing meal. They have an excellent online ordering service which means I can order from my computer and walk over and pick up and be back at work in minutes. For lunch we had crispy tofu and cashew chicken, both were exceptionally delicious and affordable. We went at a time when it was very quiet and relaxing. I've only eaten at Yin Yang twice, but you only need one bad experience at a restaurant to put you off ever going there again. The first time was great! We ordered the Seven Vegetables with Tofu and the Crispy Shrimp with Cashew- delicious! Also, there was so much food that we had the leftovers for another meal! That made us decide to get take out here again, but this time we would split an entre and order an appetizer. The Crab Rangoon was very good, but the Scallop in Garlic Sauce was VERY disappointing. Neither of us could eat the scallops which were underdone. We might've tried cooking them more ourselves, but they also smelled fishy- never a good sign with any seafood. We did eat every bite of the vegetables in garlic sauce, but threw out the scallops. I would advise watching what you order here. read more

The reviews for this place were all over the map, including a couple of reviews by folks who seemed to be off their psych meds or something to be honest, so we initially came in with some trepidation. However, we liked it so well, we ate here twice while on vacation in Santa Fe and found the food quality excellent and the service fast and courteous. Furthermore, my husband is Han Chinese, born and raised in Zhengzhou, China, so he can be incredibly picky about Chinese food in the US. Over the course of two separate meals we had Peking Duck, Sha Cha Beef, Hunan Chicken & Shrimp, Shredded Pork in Garlic Sauce, Heng Yang Beef, Crispy Duck as well as the Crispy Scallion Pancakes and the Chicken Dumplings in Spicy sauce for appetizers. Every single one of these dishes was a good quantity serving size, reasonably priced, hot and freshly prepared, and all quite tasty. The location is in a store front inside a small strip mall of some sort, so if you're looking candlelight, teakwood, and mahogany, this isn't the place. While it is somewhat older inside, it is well-lighted, spacious and reasonably tidy. In short, it is a pretty standard-issue American Chinese restaurant in overall appearance, but we came here for the food, not for linen napkins and a sommelier. As far as the food, after two separate meals we have absolutely nothing to complain about. If you're staying in the Santa Fe Historic District and want some good Chinese food, it's a quick 5 minute walk from there, so give it a try. read more

I've eaten here more than 20 times and have never had anything but fresh, flavorful food that is beautifully presented. i have never had the buffet due to a distant work location, so I cannot comment on it. After a long day at a training for work in a sketchily heated room where my feet were cold all day long, the last thing I wanted to do was go out. So, I cued up Grubhub, ordered some food from Yin Yang, and am I glad I did. The food was cooked and delivered quickly, and despite the weather, my Sesame Tofu was scorching hot when I tucked into it. Part of the reason I chose Yin Yang, in fact, is that it has so many vegetarian options on its menu, and to those of that persuasion, I highly recommend the Sesame Tofu. I should have snapped a pic, but was too starved for photography and ended up forking the food into my mouth right out of the paper carton as I sat on the couch in front of a Duraflame log fire in my hotel room. After a poor experience at a different Chinese restaurant in Santa Fe, my local friend recommended Yin Yang, and it was incredible! First, the service was outstanding. Staff was genuinely kind and hospitable and attentive. The food was excellent! Large selection of all kind of dishes, including Chef Specials like the scallops in orange sauce (excellent, and brilliantly served with a lit up feature on the plate). Soups were also outstanding, and available in small and large sizes. Food and service were so impressive that we ended up eating here several times during the week-long trip. Yin Yang does have an all-inclusive lunch special that includes soup, won tons, an egg roll and an entree with white or brown rice. The Pepper Beef lunch special was $8.95, which is a good value. I found a sautéed cockroach in my food!!!! It was in my mouth and I crunched it and spit it out and it clearly had antennae and legs. I am still sick from this and have a problem eating any food at all. The restaurant denied that it could be possible while I am gagging because the cockroach had eggs and I can see them!!!! I wouldn't eat anywhere in Santa Fe ever again. The board of health doesn't take this seriously and I believe no restaurants are safe in Santa Fe now. Rarely do I leave shrimp on the table but I did and wouldn't be surprised if it is served to someone else. Yin Yang is probably the best quality Chinese food in Santa Fe. The only problem is their buffet is only open for a brief window, and is fairly small. The prices are a little high too. Still the best place since Ten Ten closed though. (For those who remember Ten Ten, arguably the greatest Chinese buffet ever.) read more

As with any buffet get there on time or you will have to wait for seating and have limited food selection. This location is inside of a small indoor mall. The mall is neat in its own right. The atmosphere of the restaurant is peaceful, melodic Chinese music, great decoration, courteous staff that considerately seat and serve so that your experience is as pleasant as possible. The lunch buffet is perfectly done. There is a taste of each type of Chinese that you might like and each is prepared with quality ingredients.
