    Salmon w/ mango salsa
    William M.

Tried Louie's for the first time. My first impression was the Ambiance was okay. They keep the lights dim to hide the faults of the old building. It was clean. The menu was expensive didn't expect it to be that high. But that's fine if the food backs it up. We ordered the potato soup special. It's tasty and it had the slab bacon cut up inside. That dressed up the dish. Smokey and creamy. They served warm bread with whole roasted garlic. Awesome if you love garlic. Entree 1 was lobster ravioli in a roasted red pepper vodka sauce. It was good. Just not sure if I'd pay that much to have it again. Entree 2 was a grilled salmon with mango salsa special. Everything was great except the salmon. It was dry and a lot was left of the plate no doggie bag.

Very happy to come back here! The service was fabulous when we walked in and we were checked on frequently throughout the night. Our waiter answered any questions we had about the regular menu or verbal specials menu. When you walk in, we were greeted and sat right away because of our reservations. It was very easy to make reservations for that night. We ordered the shaved Brussel sprout salad from the specials menu. It was really good but I would say this time an under dressed. I had the same salad a few weeks ago and it was perfect. For my entree, I ended up getting the crabcake starter which was really good. It was a nice size crab cake. Overall, I would order everything again and definitely come back

I finally made it to Chef Jason's new Robbinsville restaurant, Louie's, for lunch this weekend. I was a big fan of his Cranbury location. Although, Robbinsville does not have the same ambiance as the former Cranbury restaurant, the food here is still top-notch. My husband ordered the Cheeseburger and I went with the Chicken Marsala lunch special. The fries accompanying the burger were fabulous and he enjoyed his burger. The Chicken Marsala was absolutely delicious! I substituted vegetables for pasta and the portion size was generous, with no upcharge for the substitution. Our server was very pleasant and our food came out quickly, but outside of us there was only one other customer. Louie's is certainly a new restaurant to put into your rotation of places to eat in the area.

    Boneless braised short rib

Great meal and dining experience from start to finish. The gentlemen that took care of our table were timely, friendly, and great at servicing our table. The food was amazing - enjoyed the Braised boneless short rib which was so tender you could glide a fork through it and it melted in my mouth. The risotto was not only perfectly cooked but one of the best I have had. My coworker had the Seafood Fra Diavolo and loved the fresh and tender shrimp with exceptionally cooked linguine. Well worth the visit to this quaint little restaurant that delivers on flavor and service.

Great food and service. This last minute decision to grab dinner at the "new place" was well worth it. I haven't had a piece of meat cooked this well in awhile. We had the pork chop special, turf and turf and the boom boom chicken. Everything was so full of flavor. Every item on the plate was just perfect including the sauces. We will absolutely be back to try more menu options.

The ambience is smart casual, and not fussy, but with food and service that you'd expect at a place that charges double the prices. All of the food was top notch. Standouts are the artichoke heart Francese, mozzarella en corrozza, and fried calamari appetizers; and chicken Italiano, chicken marsala, and salmon Neapolitan mains. Their tiramisu and tartufo capped off the meal perfectly. If you're in Trenton or Princeton, Gennaro's is worth the drive.

We just quit going out for Italian other than for tomato pies, but now we've begun actively looking for a place to enjoy simple Italian food--outside of the ubiquitous tomato pies. Gennaro's was our first stop, with the menu definitely reading more New World Italian than Old World. We started with a couple of appetizers: The Sausage Stuffed Mushrooms in Scampi sauce and the Antipasto Salad. I'm not a fan of Antipasto salads (I've a three item max addition rule for salads and tomato pies), but my wife enjoyed it. It was your standard antipasto salad for the area--perhaps more generous with the meat and cheese than the last one we ordered up the street at Papa's. The stuffed mushrooms had a good flavor, and although the sauce didn't really hit me as Scampi (the garlic wasn't really there), it was still good on its own, and I'd order it again. My wife ordered the Pork Chop Giambotta, which she truly enjoyed. It was a thick, good sized pork chop covered with a sauce that included potatoes, sausage slices, and sautéed peppers. The menu said that the peppers were hot and sweet, but they were pretty much 99.9% hot peppers. If that's an issue for you, I'd make a point in mentioning it to your server first. My wife doesn't do spicy, but luckily I was there to find a home for the hot peppers, and she said she'd order it again if we returned. My Veal Saltimbocca, however, was a letdown. The veal was overcooked and had lost its tenderness, but most surprising to me was that it was very different from the standard version I've known for years. Had I read the description more carefully, I'd have caught the fact it was in a tomato demi-glace rather than the white wine and butter emulsion I know and love. Also, the ham that was used was not the thinly sliced prosciutto one normally sees, instead it was a thick slice of something that I can't honestly tell you was prosciutto or not. The use of spinach instead of a sage leaf wasn't a complete shock, as I've seen that before. Overcooked veal, the prosciutto mystery, and tradition straying aside, the flavor almost bordered on being alright, but it definitely wasn't what I'd hoped for when I placed the order. To add insult to injury, I asked for pasta as my side, and was given a couple choices--I chose the linguini and got served a dente-less spaghetti. When I asked the waiter (who was otherwise extremely conscientious and attentive) if they were out of linguini, I was told that there's really very little difference between the two, which so blew my mind that I just shrugged and ate. While we were there, we could see that there were many people who acted like regulars enjoying their meals, and many of them were also eating tomato pies, however, we're on the hunt for a place that's going to satisfy our need for an Italian place that provides beyond the pizza oven. I'm up in the air about a second shot--my wife was much happier than me with the location (which means we'll likely go), but I'll definitely ask our server more questions about what I'm ordering next time to avoid any surprises.

The desire to try out a new spot in the area that served up the more traditional round pie led me here. Although I stopped in for take out, they have a decent dining area between the tables inside and the outdoor patio area. I went with a standard cheese pizza and an order of garlic knots. The garlic knots (3.25/5) were a bit on the smaller side, but served in a nice portion size with a decent garlic kick to them. The large cheese pizza (3.5/5) was a small notch above the central New Jersey average, with the dough, sauce, & cheese coming together for a nice pizza experience, although I did have to sprinkle on some spices to add to the flavor profile a bit. Service (4/5) while picking up was friendly, although slightly slow at first since the guy at the counter was initially fixated on his phone for a bit. Overall, I'd rate Massimo's a 3.5/5 pizza experience, and don't mind rounding up since Yelp doesn't allow half stars and menu prices were fairly reasonable. While I'm not sure I'd choose Massimo's over other pizza competitors in the Robbinsville/Hamilton area, it's still a decent option should you find yourself looking for a more traditional round pizza experience.

Between the poor quality of the food, the lack of professionalism, and the overall experience, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. The rice balls were stuffed with shredded beef instead of ground beef which I liked and the Gorgonzola cheese sauce was tangy and savory. The zucchini fritte was fried to a golden crisp and felt light and satisfying. The meat and cheese board is truly perfect for pairing with some pre-dinner drinks! Neither of us felt like drinking that night so I got the Stella Rose red berry spritz and she got the black berry spritz. These were fruity and sweet and perfect for a night out. Cons: While the staff was pleasant, the service was extremely slow--especially considering there were only seven tables seated and we were the first to arrive.
