Little bland and overpriced. They charge for chips and salsa which considering the pricing is surprising. Also charged my friend for some extra flour tortilla wraps...his dinner was $17, very surprised they charged for the extra wraps considering you can buy a huge pack at the grocery store for a couple of bucks. Anyway, the food was okay, the service was good. I've ate here twice, wasn't really impressed and have decided that with the pricing and charging for items that should be included, I won't go back. During a pandemic I preferred to order carryout rather than eat in. I sent my niece in with my credit card to pick up our order. I reminded her to make sure they had included the complimentary salsa and chips. Strike One - she returned with the order stating that the management provided no chips and salsa because that was only for dine in customers. Strike Two - when she returned my credit card there was no credit card receipt. Strike Three - When we returned home and sorted the order we had ordered several bowls of CHILI which includes chips on the side. There were none. So for the equivalent of about 50 cents to a dollar this establishment had upset a previously regular customer. There has never been a question about the food but they appear to NOT VALUE their customers. I own my own business for over 35 years and am sensitive about customer service and understand how difficult it can be to serve the public but this experience was over the top. I had a party of 4 that arrived right after they opened on A Tuesday, so we had the place to ourselves. Our food still took a while to come out, but it was all pretty good. We were all craving Mexican, so everyone ordered from the south of the border section on the menu: Mexican combo, burritos and chimichanga. The rest of the menu was tempting though, I would like to go back again and try their burgers and quesadillas. Service and food were both great. The dessert menu looked amazing, we shared a friend ice cream but I would have eaten the whole thing by myself in a heartbeat! Louies is Open for Carry-Out during 2020 WuTang Flu Bugaloo!!! If you normally eat in, try them for take-out. If you've never been, get some to go and see how good take-home can be. Came here for first time on a fri night 7pm... no wait. Dining room half full, friendly staff, casual warm atmosphere. Started with plantains..better than starliner, it had accompanying refreshing light salty spicy sauce . Had jambalaya.. good serving and flavorful! Beef brisket chimichanga was alright, would not get again. Veracruz salad with shrimp lightly dressed, shrimp flavorful but not worth the price. Fried ice cream was perfect dessert... must try! I loved that our waitress addressed us as Amigos! Made the long haul out to Hillard to give this place a try since Cuco's is closed on Sunday's and I wanted a mexicaney breakfast. First off, I thought it was strange that you had to turn down a street to get to the parking lot behind the restaurant and the back door was the front door. Anyway, it was a pretty large place and me and my boyfriend got the last of the booths that morning. We were greeted warmly by the host (maybe the owner) and then our waitress. She was sweet and did a good job, only one small miscommunication due to a language barrier that was quicly remedied. They were quick to refill coffees which is always nice. The menu wasn't extensive, but covered all the bases. I got the mexican breakfast burrita and he got the huevos rancheros. Both looked great. Mine came with well cooked hashbrowns. My burrito wasn't as flavorful as I would have liked it, but it was good a filling. I always expect so much flavor from chorizo, but I'm learning that some forms can be rather mild. So the vegetables in the monster burrito were cooked perfectly, not too soft, not too mushy, and it had corn, which i am totally into. I did not like either hot sauce they offered on the table. Both tasted funny to me (I can't remeber the brand) But, if you can, bring a bottle of Tapatio from home. That'd be perfect! Over all a good breakfast, but just not a WOW breakfast. My boyfriend enjoyed his rancheros, but also decided on 3 stars for his dish. I like Louie's alot and I will go again once they open in Upper Arlington (in the old Zuppas at Northwest and Zollinger), but I don't think it's worth the drive out to Hilliard again. I recently went back with my in-laws and nieces. We sat on the patio. I had the most amazing soup -- I think it was a crab bisque -- it was out of this world. I also had the steak salad, which was fantastic. I have upped my rating because of my recent experience. And once again the prices were fantastic. read more

I'm still not sure yet about this place. I've eaten there twice. So far, I've not been blown away. The staff seems nice enough, minus the lady who sat our table the other night, she seemed to maybe have something stuck in the back of her head and figured she'd look at it a few times. (Eye rolling when she found out there was about 5 or 7 of us). The food honestly I have had better. The first time I got a chicken chimi, it was decent. I split it with my friend and he also enjoyed it. The nachos are decent, and the chicken wings are good. The plantains are also pretty good. I ordered a cuban sandwich the next time though, blah. I do not like it. Bland, boring, and just blah. I can't come up with a proper description of how disappointed I was. I have had some really wonderful cuban sandwiches in my lifetime but this was not one of them. The fries were decent though. My friend got the fiesta chicken sandwich, i tried it, it was decent but not like WOW! but I would've traded him gladly from what I had. Will I return? Had breakfast here this morning. Sat at bar. After several minutes, I got up and helped myself to a menu. Waitress finally noticed me. I think the only choices were written on the chalk board - but later I saw a breakfast menu that had lots of choices??? Ordered country omlette, and a "OJ". Waitress did not know what "OJ" was. Omlette came with suasage gravy on top and a muffin in the middle - wish the description would have included this - I would have ordered something else. Waitress finally brought the OJ when I was 3/4 done with the omlette - she said she was busy, but the place was only 1/4 full. VERY DISSAPOINTED!!! read more

Very similar to Starliner (LouiE's is run by two brothers from the same family that runs Starliner), but something in the Starliner magic was lost in the attempt to upscale the fare. The food isn't bad, but there's always something that it seems to be missing with the slightly higher prices. It's not a bad place, and if Starliner wasn't there I'd probably be over the moon for it, but I can't help but wonder if they'd be better if they were a bit farther away from their sister restaurant. read more

We headed to Louie's for breakfast and left with a "Meh" rating. When there is a place as great as Starliner right up the road, it's hard not feeling cheated out of something awesome with mediocre food. Also, this review is about breakfast only - I have not yet been for lunch or dinner. I was shocked at how big and new the restaurant felt - it was HUGE, and was one big room. It was nicely decorated, but empty at 10am on a Wednesday. I guess that's not so surprising. The signage at the door and VERY prominent bar made me feel like it was more a sports bar than anything. The main menu seemed really intriguing, and I wouldn't mind going back to try it for lunch or dinner, but being married to breakfastwithnick.com, I was there to scope out the morning meal. The breakfast menu was much smaller than I was expecting and was less inventive than I had hoped. I ordered the breakfast quesadilla with chorizo, my sister ordered some breakfast taco things, I forget what they were called, and we got the rainbow pancakes for my son. Our food came out quickly and was piping hot. My quesadilla was fine, but there was so much cheese on it I couldn't taste the chorizo. I dismantled the tortilla and scraped off about 4 ounces of cheese just so I could eat it. I also thought there were supposed to be eggs on it, but I couldn't find any. Maybe they were so mixed in they disappeared. My sister loved hers, and it was smothered in a spicy queso that I ordered a side of for my dish. My son's pancakes were standard, if not a little tough, and the only thing that made them "rainbow" were colorful sprinkles on top. The portions were giant, and we ate most of our meals, so that's saying something, but there was nothing special about it. Pretty standard, good, fare. The service was great - and the server was very nice. There was no indication of how to pay, whether to leave it on the table or go up, but we eventually went to the register. I'm not sure if I'd go back, but it was not a bad experience. When Starliner is up the road and I crave that place 24/7, it's hard to not drive the extra 1/2 mile. A note on their website, which I checked out before going (I usually like to do that). It. Is. TERRIBLE. When are restaurants going to figure out that Flash is NOT a good option for dining sites, especially when people are wanting to get quick info fast? Their menu is incomplete on the site, and OF COURSE cannot be read on an iPhone. (BTW - the people that have iPhones that are looking for restaurants to go to at the last minute will NOT go to restaurants whose sites they cannot read!!!) Please, for the love of all things good, take the Flash off your site and move into the 21st century! read more

Excellent Mexican fare but the fried ice cream is heaven. Actually fried... Not a scoop of ice cream rolled in corn flake crumbs.

My favorite place to pre-game on Saturdays and Sundays. Louie's Treats you right! The food is fan-om-inal my favorite is a chicken dish with Verde sauce that beats the band, with plantains!!!! You can't get food like this in Columbus, Yes you can! They have great food, a good atmosphere and perfecto margaritas! The breakfast is excellent as well. Stopped by today and was looking forward to using my Customer Loyalty Card. They supply and stamp your card each visit and on your 8th visit one entree is free. We ordered plantains, chicken quesadilla, and some type of chicken sandwich( I don't recall the exact name). We finished our meal and received the bill. I presented my Customer Loyalty Card and than was presented the updated bill. Still seemed high so I inquired. I was told that they take the cheapest item off which meant the appetizer became free.....not an entree! Loyalty Card user be ware and order no appetizer when using this card. I paid my final bill at Louie's. I will not be back! read more

Found a new favorite place. I've been twice in the last week. Once for lunch and then yesterday morning for breakfast. Chicken burrito was delicious and substantial. This is my old standby! I have eaten here 40 plus times and have had work related catered events about 10 times. This is one of the ONLY places in the 270/Cemetery Rd Mill Run area that has fresh, delicious food! I highly recommend the Vera Cruz Salad with chicken on top for a healthy, fantastic lunch. The lettuce is fresh and green, topped with avocado, tomatillos, tomatoes, and cucumbers. The lime vinaigrette is made in house. Try the authentic Cuban Sandwich too. It is layered with thick slices of pork and ham (not cold cuts). Don't forget the sweet plantains! This is a small business and family owned and operated. Was a nice wrong turn! We were heading to the Rusty Bucket but given the one way entrance- we missed the turn- needless to say we ended up here- and what a great surprise- no wait on a Friday at 7... I got the chicken fusion sandwich and it was literally a perfect combination of flavor not to mention the unique sweet potato fries on the side!!! The chicken was juicy and had a great mesquite flavor. My husband got the fajitas with chicken steak and shrimp and they didn't skimp- also- a rare feature these days... I have eaten here by myself and with others several times. Nothing has ever been anything but excellent. The service always superb. But on my last visit I ordered the jalapeño soup which is my favorite item. I paid $7 for what appeared to be approximately a single cup of soup in a large shallow bowl. It tasted great but was gone quickly and believe me I eat slowly and savor good food. The total after tip was over $10 and I left feeling cheated. It will be a long time before I feel like trying Louie's again read more

We went here because I was told it was the same food as the Starliner Diner as the cook was the same. The Starliner was closed so we tried this place. The service was not good! When we asked for water our waitress left and disappeared forgetting all about our request. That happened more than one time that the waitress forgot to come back. I was not impressed with the food either. The restaurant looks kind of like a cafeteria with large rectangular tables around just in a big room with a counter and bar right there. The tacos were the only redeeming feature. The sweet tea tasted off and half way through my drink I saw the waitress drinking straight from the pitcher. Absolutely disgusting. This place is phenominal. Great food! Good prices! Great staff! BETTER THAN STARLINER. As people have stated it's similar to Starliner Diner. There are a few differences between LouiE's and Starliner, though: The wait staff is much friendlier at LouiE's (Starliner's wait staff generally consists of angsty teenagers that in my experience aren't very attentive), the prices are lower at LouiE's, and most importantly, LOUIE'S IS MUCH CLEANER THAN STARLINER. I work at a nearby company and everyone I know from work stopped going to Starliner because STARLINER HAS FLIES IN IT, EVEN IN THE MIDDLE OF WINTER! (That means starliner is actually breeding and sustaining flies) The staff at LouiE's remember me everytime I go in, no matter how long it's been between visits. I order take out a lot and the order is always correct, and it's done in under 10 minutes. As long as LouiE's exists, I will never go to Starliner. Starliner is dirty and nasty and anyone with the good sense to actually look around their restaurant will notice their disgusting carpets and flies buzzing about. read more

I stopped here based on a friend's recommendation. Chipotle crab chowder is so over-seasoned you don't taste the crab. It is also overpriced for what you get. Fusion Pasta for being a hodgepodge of this and that lacked any real flavor. Also at $14.99 it is overpriced. Service was excellent. To be fair this place probably deserves a second chance. We stumbled on to this place and so glad we did! Have had breakfast and dinner here now, and they make the best salsa!! The menu leans toward Mexican and Cuban, but they have other dishes including salads, Alfredo and burgers - there's something there for everyone. Margaritas are good, the Cuban sandwich and plantains are great, Louie's quesadilla is terrific and so are the omelettes. Not so great on pancakes - but with so many other options you can't go wrong! read more

I was there with a large group of people, and the staff was struggling to keep up with our orders. Eventually everyone else at the table had their meal, and I kept patiently waiting for my Chicken Caesar salad. (Can't screw that up, eh? Oh, wait...) Well, the person sitting next to me realized before I did that the servers had stopped running around, and they simply hadn't brought my meal. When we called the waitress over, she apologized and they very quickly brought out the salad. When I got it, I was wondering what the clumps of white, flat, flaky stuff were. I had some, and realized that they were (a) cheese, and (b) still frozen. Literally, there was frost in the clumps of cheese. The other stuff going on made it not worth complaining; I just ate around the cheese-sicles. Won't ever eat there again. By the time they were preparing my food, the rush was over, so there was no excuse for such a horrible dish. read more

This restaurant is absolutely awesome. I get to eat some of my favorites from Starliner in a much cleaner atmosphere. My wife and I went last week and we will be going back this Friday and taking my parents along as well. The crab chowder, chicken mofongo, fiesta burger and sweet potato fries were all awesome. We detemined that the sweet potato fries are even better dipped in the southwest sauce that is served with the Fiesta burger. They compliment each other very well and that sauce should be offered as regular menu item with the sweet potato fries. Not sure what restaturant Erin W went to, but surely can't be the same place. Louie's has moved to the top of my favorites in Columbus list!!! read more

We dine here about once a month. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming. The margaritas are nice and strong. I always get the tacos which are perfectly seasoned (much better than Local Cantina). They come with a side of rice and beans which I also enjoy. My husband orders something different each visit and has never been disappointed. read more

Very good food experience Just driving around the neighborhood of Hilliard and happen to see Louie's Grill so stopped in. I was unaware that they served South American foods, but I am usually game to see what I place has to offer if I have never been. We were seated immediately and helped by our very speedy waitress (she was moving VERY fast, not a problem for me). I went with the breakfast enchilada with egg whites and Plantains. It did not take long for my food to come out and it was hot. The enchilada was served with home fries which did not have much seasoning, but a little ketchup solved that. The enchilada was very good, there was sour cream and lettuce on the side to cool down the chorizo sausage inside. These were all soft texturally so I put in a some of the crunchier home fries with the enchilada, sour cream and lettuce. This gave a dynamite bite! The perfect texture and flavor mix. The plantains were also extremely good, some of the best I have ever had. I will definitely be back again. read more
