I also love the theater itself. It's small, cute, and intimate, which made the experience feel even more personal. I'm a big fan of intimate theaters like this, where you feel closely connected to the performers and the story. I got my ticket just 2 days before and totally lucked out getting a seat on the second row. This was a huge plus for me cos I've never been a fan of the first row. And my seat was in the middle which is my preference. I made sure to use the bathroom before the show because I didn't want to wait until intermission. This theater is beautiful. The seat is comfortable and is fairly spacious. The show was amazing. I was so impressed with the set direction. And the sound was bangin. There's a bit at the end where a helicopter is supposed to land and it got pretty loud in there. It was realistic enough that I really turned away cos I really thought a copter was going to land. Lol Kudos to the staff for handling business. I got to the theater about 20 minutes before the show and the line was bonkers. Legitimately took over both ends of the street. I was at the back. Some dude asked us what we were in line for. Haha The line moved so quick. There were folks reminding everyone to have their bags ready to be checked and ticket ready so that entrance could be a breeze. The usher by the bar assisted with directing folks which way to go. Everyone was super nice. Exiting was a breeze. Someone reminded people to mind their steps.

When you get here, you'll see a line outside, but don't worry- it moves fast. You go through a security scanner, they'll check your purse and before you know it, you're inside. Hubs and I haven't been to Broadway in eons and the best part when you're buying your tickets online, the theater lets you preview the view from almost every seat before you buy. Again- I forgot the lay of the land of Broadway. I clicked around just to see what the mezzanine looked like and I knew right away it wasn't for us. Then I checked out orchestra seats. It doesn't even matter that they're the expensive ones, but honestly- being that close to the stage isn't my thing and I really don't want to spend 2 hrs with my neck so far back looking up at the stage. I kept playing around with the seating chart and landed on Q aisle seats when I treated hubs to 'Dog Day Afternoon' with Jon Bernthaland Eboni Moss-Bachrach. PERFECT. We had an amazing view of the entire stage. We could see the actors' energy, plus everything happening around them. For me, those seats were worth it.

This one is like most others: narrow seats, little legroom, relatively small. The building itself is interesting, dating back to 1831 and designated as a landmark in 1963. The current presentation is "Burnout Paradise," hysterical performance-art by an Australian collective of experimental theater-makers. The performers do increasingly difficult stunts, ie cooking a three course meal while running on treadmills. If you're staid and stodgy, stay home. This wouldn't be your kinda thing.

Overall place was clean and well air conditioned even though the theater we were in was kind of warm. Seating was spacious but the padding was kind of uncomfortable to me. After about two hours my butt and back were hurting. Just saw a musical called For The Last Time here as part of a Yelp night. Friendly and courteous staff. Each theater is small and intimate. Maybe only 7 rows in the one we were in. Good sound and sightlines no matter where you sit. Even better is that on the top floor there is a full lounge and bar area. Nice place to chill out at before a show and grab a cold drink or snack. Plus, they have large clean air conditioned bathrooms up there.

One such place is the 42st Workshop Theater. The theater is located on the fourth floor of the building, and once you get up there the waiting area is very comfortable. There are rest rooms near the entrance to the theater and very well kept. The area where the folks running the play checked for your name on the RSVP list was cute, almost like a mini version of a larger theater's concession stand area. The actual performance space itself is nice. On a hot day, the air conditioning kept a room full of people nice and cool. The stage area is medium sized (I've seen bigger and smaller) and the actors looked like they had no problem moving about on stage. I enjoyed my time (and the play) at this theater and would definitely go back to see more friends perform!

(I love that legend Andre De Shields smiled and made eye contact with me.) Yet another Shubert property, Broadhurst -- named after playwright George Broadhurst -- was built in 1917. The little I saw of the facility wasn't as impressive as other theaters. There's a steep stairway into the basement where the restrooms are. Not adequate for all the theater-goers, though I believe there's a small bathroom on the main floor for those with mobility issues. Staff distributed fans to everyone waiting to enter, which was very cool when used for applause. The "Jellicle Ball" is lively and fun, with spectacular dancing, singing, costumes and makeup. Though I had no interest in the original production of "Cats," my interest in this was piqued when featured on CBS's "Sunday Morning." BTW, if you're eligible to join TDF you might want to look into it to reap deep discounts. If you're visiting from out-of-town, Sardi's, a Broadway institution is directly across the street. On a…read moreSaturday evening in May, the building was pretty quiet save for a flutter of activity for the open studios and artist showings in this building. The theater is on the 3rd floor if I recall and there's an elevator available. Upon entering the door, signs lead to a small foyer area with a merch/flyer/marketing table, then on the left it opens up to a lounge/lobby with concession stand. There were a handful of tables and about a dozen seats. A schedule of activities was listed at the foyer area and in the lounge was a booklet with total exhibits available for the Arts Open at a number of different buildings in the immediate LIC neighborhood. Because I arrived late, it wasn't immediately apparent where to enter, and there weren't any staff immediately discernible outside the attendant at the concessions stand who didn't seem to interact with anyone outside those purchasing drinks or snacks. Thankfully one of the other attendees of the event pointed me towards the closed door on the right, when he saw me looking confused. Inside I realized this was a black box theater*, seating was in the form of stackable chairs placed on wooden risers. I climbed around the side and found a seat and enjoyed the rest of the short films. The configuration was sufficient for about 70 seats. Afterwards as our part was exiting, there were a couple friendly staff or volunteers thanking people for attending. On the same floor the theatre space was encircled by other class rooms and studios, and I wasn't sure if those were part of the same organization or just sharing the space. All in all, I'm glad to have had the chance to visit, and glad that small theaters like this exist, to nurture growing talent interested in performance and visual arts. *meaning simple, adaptable and intimate performance space, usually a rectangular or square room with black walls, where seating and sets can be reconfigured to the needs of a creative vision. Generally fitting less than 100-200 people.

By what I researched , it was created to give opportunities for artists ,which is great and also for the ones who are already in the industry to show and expanding their talent . From time to time this place comes with this wonderful Shortplay Festival . It is so exciting and so promising for the actors, directors and writers .However the competition ,turns in disappointment to see excellent work of the participants overlooked. The voting system is led from family members and friends.This current method is unfair to talented actors, writers ,and directors who give their best, but unfortunately the results depend on personal connections instead of artistic merit. A system led by qualified judges would make the festival stronger,fairer, and more true to its mission of supporting learning and creativity. Please reconsider it , to be an excellent place with fair judgments for all artists . If it continues like this ,I don't see the point of artist go through it.Thank you.

Mariska Hargitay stared in the one person show and being that she is our idol/role model, we booked a mom's day out to see our Queen shine. Once again, the theater ran like a well oiled machine. The staff gave great direction on how to find our seats and the intimate setting made the show that much more immersive.

They did offer refunds, but nothing makes up for the flight I took to the East Coast to see the performance...all through FIFA World Cup traffic. Hudson theater could have done better by giving earlier notification of the canceled performance.
