More like a 3.5. Cool spot and cool vibe, definitely an older adults spot. Great venue to grab a drink and catch some live music. Give it a 3.5 because the food wasn't great ( blackened fish sandwich) and the beer and food prices were a little high. Visiting from St. Louis and my friend and I wanted the vibe of a local bar with great food...we weren't disappointed! The ambiance is festive with little funny statues everywhere. We visited on Tues, 2/21/17 and there was a great drink special for $2.50 wells! Bottoms up! The food was also delish! We ordered peel&eat shrimp, Thai chilli chicken wings, and this avocado dip that was soooo good we had to order and second helping! Good hole-in-the-wall place on the upstairs deck for a drink and an ocean view. Had the Thursday night special which was not good. Dry ribs with just a little meat and snowcrab legs too soft to get meat out of. Semi-good service, once we got it. That took about 10 min. So many better places nearby. read more

Again, Yelp lets me down because I can't give 1/2 stars. Lou's is a solid 3 1/2- better than a 3, but not quite a 4. We were in Melbourne for the weekend and, while driving along A1A, saw the sign that causes our car to automatically turn- "KARAOKE!". We were a little late for karaoke, but decided to stay for dinner and the band. The food was standard bar fare- good, but nothing to write home about. The drinks were strong, however, and the service was excellent. Our glasses never went empty and the return trip with more liquor was quick. We went back the next day for karaoke and were equally impressed. The decor is unusual, but I enjoy kitsch, so it was right up my alley. I don't know when I'll be back in Melbourne, but I'll keep Lou's on my list of places to hang out. read more

I've been here twice in two years. The first time we had wings and a couple beers downstairs at the bar. I kind of liked the place the first time. This last time we just wanted drinks. We went upstairs and out to the deck bar. The barmaid out there was very rude, almost to the point of argumentative. We were in town the weekend Sandy was skirting the coast and despite the miserable weather outside, this place was packed and felt like a huge, laid back party. I do not recommend this place. The food was terrible, although the service was semi-decent. We ordered the steamed clams to start. Most of the clams were empty and we were comped another order, which came out cold. I ordered the philly sandwich with sweet fries. The sandwich was ok but the sweet fries were cold. I've been here several times. Food is decent for a bar. Atmosphere is pretty good. The staff quite nice. Lou has been there every time I went. He spends a lot of time wandering through the crowd, talking to people, etc. I think this is great and one of the reasons this place is successful. Music is hit or miss. We had a great motorycle ride to Lou's Blues and had lunch there on Saturday out on the deck overlooking the ocean. It was pretty full and Karl Hudson was playing a few acoustic tunes later joined by his bass player friend. Well, lunch was terrific and we stayed because Karl was really good and played allot of the songs from the 70s & 80s while we enjoyed the excellent view. I had the Philly Cheesteak with onion rings and my wife had the Shrip Ceasar Wrap with fries. The waitresses were very attentive and got a great tip! This place was great. Went on a Friday night and it was hopping. Live music was great with the band upstairs on a balcony overlooking dance floor and across from 2nd floor bar. There are 3 bars inside: one on first floor, one inside on second floor, and one on outside patio. This is a fun and broad crowd. You pretty much have all walks of life in their on a Firday or Saturday. From the biker to the yuppie! The live blues music is fun and the atmosphere is a lot of dancing and hanging out. The parking isn't too bad, but it can get packed later at night. Lou's is a fun place for a drink and some dancing. I've been coming here for years and almost always have a good time.
