We wanted to try Love Boat Sushi for dinner today but were put off by the unfriendly service, and lack of menu options. There was an empty booth and we asked to be seated in one but the male employee refused to accommodate us and was unfriendly. No staff came to our table at any time to greet us or offer us water or drinks. We were ignored by the staff like we were an inconvenience to them and left without ordering. I strongly recommend diners avoid Love Boat Sushi (unless they don't mind being treated like shit by the staff) because there's nothing at all to love about nonexistent customer service, unwelcoming atmosphere and lack of hospitality! read more

My daughter and I went there for the first time Friday night, 6/12. We ordered a combo of chicken and salmon teriyaki. There were two small pieces of salmon on top of a bed of what appeared to be wilted cabbage. In the other compartment, there were four very thin small pieces of chicken teriyaki also sitting on the bed of the same kind of wilted cabbage. Then some salad and rice. My husband and I had dinner here and we really enjoyed our meal. We were seated immediately upon arrival and checked on often. They had soft shell crab which is my husband's favorite! Sushi was good. Crispy tuna was delicious! Gyoza came out HOT and crispy! Wasn't a big fan of the sauce it came with but that's personal preference. The padres roll was good, it came with a lot of soft shell crab topping. However I will say you mainly taste the batter, not so much the crab. The eel roll and spicy salmon were good as well. The service was okay, friendly staff but seemed to be quite overwhelmed. We had to ask a few times for water refill & didn't receive our ginger/wasabi until mid meal. The restaurant itself is super tiny, barely any space. We had a decent meal, price was decent. Love Boat Sushi is our go to easy sushi spot. The food is good quality, the service is attentive, and overall the atmosphere is mellow. The portions are a good size, and the teriyaki chicken entree is a great complete meal. The nigiri, is fresh and deliciously simple. And, the rolls are good, but pretty similar to what you'd find at most sushi restaurants. My gripe with the rolls is that they tend to be overloaded with sauces, making them all seem similar from one to the next. Nothing really stands out from the rest. Overall, this is a reliable and great place for sushi, one that we will continue to frequent, but I hope that they start being a bit more unique with their menu. read more

I have never been to a sushi place where the krab meat is shredded like spaghetti noodles. It almost grossed me out because it didn't look like normal sushi rolls. Even the krab wontons- barely had cream cheese in them too. It felt like I was eating those krab sticks on its own. The crunchy stuff on top didn't seem great either quality wise. I asked for the eel sauce to be removed which is why these rolls didn't have the sauce on top. Everything was pretty mid which is why I'm giving it a 3, but unfortunately we probably won't be coming back. Service was nice tho, staff were friendly but it took quite a long time for the food to come out. read more

We come here all the time, it's super close to home and right by Burn Bootcamp and Turmeric Hut. Their happy hour is early (like, done by 5:30) but it's perfect for a quick sushi + appetizer situation that won't break the bank. The bento boxes are great, and the sashimi salad has a surprisingly big portion of fish. My son devours the salmon rolls every time, so it's one of those places where we all leave happy. I ordered a lot of their specialty rolls -- like the Geisha Roll, Dynamite Roll, or Albacore Delight and it was tasty. We got a side of tempura but it was served warm. 2.5 stars This is hard to write, because at one time Love boat use to be my go to sushi spot. But, I've been here a couple of times and I definitely noticed a change. The tempura batter has changed. Before it had a light color to it. Nice and crispy. But lately this new tempura mix has a really yellow color to it. And it has a different taste to it. More oily. I ordered the lunch combo. I got the teriyaki salmon and the teriyaki steak. Well my salmon was good. But my steak. I knew right away something was not right. The steak looked well done. And out of all the times eating here, I've never had that problem. I tried to give it the benefit of the doubt. I tried it. Right away it tasted like it was a day old steak. It was tuff. It did not taste fresh. I asked our waitress if I could get my steak medium. She came back to me letting me know that the steak came pre-cooked. And all steak will be like that! Pre-cooked steak! That's crazy! I couldn't believe it. I just asked for another salmon. But, I'm seriously disappointed how far down hill this restaurant has gone. Nice ambiance, super clean, vibin' music, nice lighting, temperature inside was perfect (most places are too cold). Service was good; everyone was friendly and attentive, smiles all around, efficient and quick service while still making you feel relaxed. Food was good. We orders gyoza appetizer, kids teriyaki, and dinner teriyaki combo. The teriyaki sauce was not the best - needed a bit more sweetness. It tasted a little salty with a fish sauce flavor (my kid likes it though). Same with the salad dressing: too think and salt/fishy made for a dip consistency instead of a dressing. Extra sauce was $2 for my kid (nowhere else charges for extra teriyaki nor was it listed on menu). For these reasons I took off a star. This is a kid friendly place and menu. They serves water with a lid and straw (always a plus and so thankful for this). Added bonus, they give kids the little chopstick silicone thingy to make it easier for kids (see photo). My son really really loved ALL his food. My teriyaki chicken came out in a sizzling skillet which was such a lovely surprise (think fajita plate). It lay on a stir fries bed of veggies. Also accompanied by miso, salad, steamed rice with sesame in top, and 2 gyoza. I also ordered their yummy hot green tea (delicious!). Overall, it was good, but the teriyaki sauce needs some work. We love this spot. The fish is very high quality and the food is delicious. They are consistently fantastic for both dine in and for take out. The Albacore Delight roll and the Hot Night roll are my two favorites next to the Medium Sushi Combo. From their Tako salad to their Vegetable Udon you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I haven't been to Love Boat in awhile (maybe 7-8 years??). Therefore I debated on if it's fair to even give a review. Obviously I decided yes and the reason for this review despite the time gap is because my last experience was so BAD, I don't think I could ever return to give it another try. In fairness I will but maybe in a few weeks! Ambiance was never the issue. Whenever we grabbed the kids and ran down to Love Boat. Or if me and my lady decided on this spot for date night, the vibe was always solid. People just having a good time and the food was usually very good....until it wasn't! Our final visit became our final visit because of a combination of the food and service from the sushi chefs that night. For the record, my wife is Japanese and we have struggled to find a great sushi spot since Kurando closed many years ago. One of our favorite orders is saba (mackerel). If it's done right, it is one of the best nigiri on the menu. If not done right, it can be very stinky and fishy tasting. Nasty! I use my saba order as a guage of the sushi quality. So this night the chef, who was sloppy drunk cones over to take our initial order. I ask him how fresh is the saba? He looks at me and says, "people are eating it aren't they?" How would I know? I ask him again and he assures me it's good as they would not serve it otherwise. Needless to say it was nasty! I had to spit it into my napkin as it was dry, super fishy and gross! When I said something to him he again referred to other people seem to think it's good. He knew it sucked and we left and haven't been back. I'm giving it 2 and even thought about 3 stars simply because we had been there and had a nice evening like 4-5 times but this night Yikes! read more

We came here on a recommendation from friends who love this restaurant. We were underwhelmed with the experience. Our server was not attentive and could not speak to the gluten free menu. The only menu doesn't match the in person menu related to GF options. We ordered a cucumber roll, and it was exactly that, rice and cucumber no flavor. The Marine Boy was ok, it needed more texture such as cucumber or a crunch. Edamame was tough and not salted enough. California roll was not good and was bland. The restaurant is quaint dark, we were a party of 5 and were seated at the first booth inside the restaurant which was suitable for a table of 2, it was a small booth that we had to shift the table back and forth to get in and out, and we are not large people. read more

Food is good for a common restaurant- not somewhere to be considered "fine-dining". Staff are either young but still kind or sharp and on/top of it. Sushi can be spot on or very fishy. Grilled plates are good but protein can be under seasoned (with additional sauce they are fine). Chicken Katsu is great- probably one of the most traditional I've had locally and the katsu sauce is actually done correctly. Productivity of output is somewhat inconsistent but they try. Server weren't friendly(long hair w pink curly hair) and the manager has no empathy when we told her there's hair in the roll. Ambiance is not cool either such a small place. Love boat sushi has always been good everytime we ordered sushi from here. The fish is very fresh. You can taste it in Every bite. I really enjoy the hand rolls, nigiri, and specialty rolls. The scallop roll is so good from here it tastes so sweet and melts in your mouth. I also really like the pga roll too. The Brussels sprouts were also very yummy! Try it you won't be dissapointed! I was warned when I sat down that the waitress was on break and would be back shortly, which did not bother me. This is where our family usually goes for gathering when we get together for birthdays or family visiting from our of town... usually, we've received good service and pretty good food for the price that we pay. Last night, while I was almost done with my dinner combo meal, I saw a short hair with my chicken teriyaki. It was too short and thin to be my hair... since I was almost done with the meal, I thought about not bringing it to their attention but since it left me feeling a bit icky, I decided to let the server know. She brought the manager and the young manager spoke to me as if I was lying and trying to make up what happened... she was asking "how much discount do you want?" And "our cooks wear hairnet so I can't see how it could have been them." No apologies or attitude of customer service. We ordered a lot for party of four (4 appetizers, 2 dinner combos, one sushi nigiri, kids meal and two rolls) before dinner rush... I did not appreciate how we were treated and I am not sure if I want to return with the family after this unpleasant experience. I understand mistakes can happen in food preparations but the manager's attitude was off putting. I didn't even know how to respond to her question of "how much discount do you want?" So she ended up offering 50% off... but it wasn't about the money... very disappointed with how the manager handled the situation. read more
