We stopped here for an early dinner tonight around 5pm and were pleasantly surprised! We've been meaning to try Teri Café for a while now... and it's safe to say we will definitely be back. Starting with the positives: the orange crush roll was delicious! And the ramen was really good too. It was busy for a Wednesday night but food came out quick. Meh: The plaza roll was fine. Wouldn't order again. Cons: I ordered a chicken teriyaki bowl with tempura (I) but I don't think that's what I got. In the menu it says it comes with vegetables which mine did not, and it wasn't even plated as a bowl, but as a plate. The tempura was greasy, I didn't eat it. I could not look past the very big spider webs on the window. There were 2 big spiders that kept popping out. I thought at first the webs were on the outside which is why we didn't move initially but looking closer the webs were in between, so had it been opened, the spiders would be able to move out. Came to Teri Cafe for dinner on a Sunday early evening. There was a decent crowd, but no wait to order or find a table. It's a casual setup - you order at the counter first, then grab a seat once your food is ready. We tried the Beef Udon ($12) and the Beef & Chicken Plate ($16). The udon included thinly sliced beef, fish cake, half an egg, green onions, and tempura flakes but the broth leaned a bit on the salty side. The plate was filling, with generous portions of both meats, though overall the flavors were pretty standard and nothing particularly memorable. That said, the value is hard to beat. The prices are reasonable, and the portion sizes are definitely satisfying, making it a solid spot if you're looking for a quick, no-frills meal. One downside: we realized after leaving that our order was rung up incorrectly. We were charged for a Dinner Plate (which includes teriyaki chicken and a California roll) with extra beef, but we didn't receive that dish - we were missing the California roll entirely. My first time to this establishment. Came out to visit a longtime friend that I haven't seen a while and decided to come here for dinner. The staff here is very tenitive and always asking if you need anything to make sure everything is okay. In ordered the beef teri and shrimp plate. Mu friend ordered the shrimp tempura plate. The dinner came with milo soup and salad as well. The beef was very tasteful and tender. The shrimp that came with the beef was fried and came with a cocktail sauce. We ate out in the patio are it was nice and relaxing they also had patio heaters out there to keep the area warm. Can't believe it's been 7 years since my last review! Teri Cafe had trash food, good portions and great prices and has been consistent for years! My favorite is the Oceanside bowl! Yummy salmon and tuna poke bowl with Ponzu sauce! The staff is friendly and even though the restaurant is always busy, the system of ordering and paying as you walk in and the sitting to eat keeps the crowds moving. My girlfriends & fellow yelpers Brooklyn Lisa B and Nanci i recently met up here for a sushi ladies night out. When we met up the line was almost out the door. It was moving at a good pace. One customer in front of us had a larger crowd meeting up with her so she let us go ahead of her. That was so nice. We were then greeted kindly by the staffers at the register. You order at the counter and get a number for your table. You kinda have to kink your neck to see the angled digital menu above. But hurrah they also have laminated menus at the register so we quickly scrambled through them. What's nice is you can order separately and not have to worry about splitting the bill or having to Venmo each other afterwards. We chose a comfortable booth that had just been wiped down but was still a bit too wet. So we reached out to a kind young server and received a second wipe down. The biggest issue was the service. After finishing my water, I expected someone to refill it since the servers were actively checking on and refilling drinks for other tables. I waited approximately 10 - 15 minutes, and multiple servers walked past me without acknowledging me. I even moved my empty cup to the edge of the table to make it more noticeable and gave the staff the benefit of the doubt. What made the situation frustrating was watching the staff check on tables around me. A waitress stopped at the table across from me, asked if they needed anything else, and offered to go boxes. Other tables were also being checked on, while no one approached me, made eye contact, or asked whether I needed anything. Despite several servers and staff members passing by repeatedly, I felt completely ignored. After waiting another 10 - 15 minutes. I ask to speak with the manager. Instead, I was introduced to the lead Manolo. I requested the manager, he stated no manager or supervisor is there and he is the lead. I explained my concerns and asked why no one had checked on me when everyone around me was receiving attention. I also told him that, as the only BLACK customer in the restaurant. the experience made me question whether I was being treated differently because of my race. One of Manolo the lead responses was that if I wanted more water, I should have ask for it. The problem with that explanation is that I watched other customers receive refills and service without having to ask. Servers were already checking on tables, refilling drinks. asking whether guests needed anything else, and offering to go boxes. Meanwhile, I sat with an empty cup for an extended period while multiple employees walked past me without acknowledgement. That is exactly why I felt discriminate against. The other guests were being taken care of, while I was being ignored. When I asked why I had not received the same level of attention and courtesy as the other customers, I did not receive a meaningful answer. I suggested reviewing the security footage to see what had happened, but that suggestion was rejected and Manolo stated why would I do that. Rather than addressing my concerns or attempting to make things right, I was told to just leave and was offered a to go boxes. Based on how this situation was handled. I believe the lead Manolo, should NOT be in a leadership position. A leader's job is to listen to customers, address concerns professionally, and work toward a resolution. Instead, I felt dismissed, my concerns about being treated differently were minimized, and I was simply told to leave. Because of the way this complaint was handled, I believe Terri Cafe should seriously reconsider whether Manolo is the right person to lead its staff. Leadership should be about accountability, customer service, and treating every guest with respect. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. Whether the treatment I received was intentional or not, the result was the same I felt ignored, disrespected, discriminated against, and unwelcome. read more

We've had many other items from their menu; ramen, sushi rolls, yakisoba. All good. Mini Chicken Teri Bowl is my jam. Love the price! A lot of the items have good sized portions at the right price. Can't go wrong with a cold beer with lunch or a hot sake when it's dinner. We love coming here and enjoy the island vibe. Staff is friendly, whether you're at the register or seated at a table. When dropping off your order, they always ask if there is anything else that's needed, i.e. sauces, napkins, utensils, etc, so you don't have to go to the counter. They stop by from time to time to make sure you're a satisfied customer. They use Toast (Local by Toast) for their online ordering and the prices are the same as the menu (unlike some using Grubhub or Doordash with added fees.) There's an enclosed area for outside seating. We've brought our pup on a couple of occasions. Teri Cafe is an Oceanside staple. I'm glad they opened this location. The El Camino location is out of the way. Parking is better here - more spacious and more spots. Another's review mentioned their extreme dissatisfaction of using fake grass on sushi plates. I believe the intention is to separate the wasabi from mixing with the rest of the dish. Hopefully, that review doesn't deter you from visiting. This spot is worth a visit. read more

As much as I like Teri Cafe, one thing that has always bothered me is the fake plastic grass they add to every sushi plate. Why is their plastic touching my food? Simply for decoration? Teri could save the money by not buying this stupid fake plastic grass. It doesn't look good, it DEFINITELY doesn't taste good lol, so why is it there? It CHEAPENS the dish rather than enhancing it. Nobody will care if it's gone. Customers won't say "Hey, this sushi is worse now that the plastic grass is gone!" Ridiculous. Cut the expense from your budget and it's one less thing your employees have to worry about. Met up with Bridgette B. for a shopping trip and decided to grab some dinner. I hadn't had Teri Cafe in a while since I moved into South Carlsbad. So I was excited to come back as I remembered how much I enjoyed their food. I was quite surprised at how jammed the parking lot was! And the line inside was beginning to back up through the doorway. So glad to report that the line moved pretty quickly. We were greeted at the register and handed a menu since I wasn't able to see the overhead menu too clearly. They have great options of noodle, sushi, and combination plates. When you order, you're given a number. Then you seat yourself wherever there's room. It's rather noisy when it's busy. And they come by as often as they can when it's busy. But when you specifically ask for something for your meal, it's disappointing to wait when it's supposed to be part of your meal. Finally stopped in to try Teri Cafe on a weekend. Parking is not an issue as it's in a bigger shopping mall. I enjoyed their large establishment with plenty of seating. The theme is tropical inside with both, tables and patio seating. Service was good. Order immediately upon walking in, and food comes to your table. My +1 and I just to frequent this place often some years ago. The prices have gone up, but at least the quality is still there. The location is on the stuffed of a hill and the driveway comes up suddenly. Parking is limited and spaces are small, but we found one. Inside you're immediately greeted by cozy Hawaiian decor, which is somehow both laid back and classy. The menus are posted high on the way for you to see, and our order is taken at a counter. Keep in mind that your food is brought to you, and their staff will refill your drinks, give you to-go boxes on request, and clean your table after you leave, but you can leave a tip in advance when you pay for your food. In places that mix counter service with servers, I'm always confused if, when and how to tip, but I usually put a little tip on the card and leave extra when I leave if it warrants it. If you have any better ideas (other than just tipping heavy or not at all) then I'm all ears. Anyway, after you order and pay, they give you a number and let you pick your seats. We chose a table with a window overlooking the golf course. The views are nice, but the highlight is the ramen. Years ago, during one visit, they claimed they the noodles were all freshly-made in-house and we believed it. The quality hasn't changed. My +1 went with the classic spicy miso, and I tried the special garlic tonkatsu. Both were rich and full of flavor. We also ordered a small teriyaki beef bowl for our little one, which was still a generous portion for $7-8. Overall, still a great experience and we're glad we stopped by. Teri Cafe, still a high quality place. I forget how good ramen is after eating Korean noodle packets at home during the pandemic. Teri cafe's noodle soup was a good reminder. Spicy miso is always my favorite. Pre-covid, the tofu used to be a free substitute for removing the pork. Unfortunately, they charged me $2 extra dollars for tofu. It was a nice amount of tofu (approx half block?), but here we go with inflation. Tonight was first dining at this Oceanside location, which I always wanted to go but never had a chance until now. This was obviously microwaved food and the staff that served it avoided eye contact whenever they were on the floor. They obviously know what they're serving is lukewarm garbage. I swapped the Tonkatsu for fried rice and it was microwaved as well. They put some fresh onion on top to disguise it as a fresh dish.
