The service was very good at the Love Bug's Donuts and Bakery. The donuts were fresh tasting and their was plenty to choose from. The Boston Cream was a huge hit along with the cronut. The fritter is very popular but it fell flat for me. I enjoyed the crispy outside but It was very dry in the center. The plain chocolate and vanilla donuts were exceptional. Fresh doughnuts like these are a lost art. We can in at closing and there only a few cupcakes and pastries left along with some warm fresh out of the oven cheese danish pastries. Oh. My. Goodness. On September 14, 2023 I went to Love Bugs Bakery for the first time. I bought 1/2 dozen of glazed, sugar, cream filled doughnuts. Went home to discover what seemed like day old dried up doughnuts. (TERRIBLE) They were the worse doughnuts I have ever tasted. The 2) bagels were ever worse if that is even possible. I not only wasted my money along with my gas which was a good drive from the South end of Palm Bay. Had to stand in line for at lease 15 minutes since the counter was manned by only 1 young lady. At that point I should have walked out rather than waste my money. WON'T BE BACK, which is sad since it is a small business which I usually try to support. read more

Huge cookies, cupcakes & muffins. Staff got them up quick. Sadly, the donuts feel like they could be a day or so old. You don't get hit with the fresh donut smell when you walk in. They run out of flavors regularly. But honestly it's the best we have in Melbourne. Unless you know somewhere else, I will accept that challenge. Love bugs is GREAT. The food is delicious, and service is friendly. Wish they didn't close down Viera location, and hope they reconsider opening. We love the bacon egg & cheese breakfast sandwich on an Italian bagel. The bagels are fresh & tasty, bacon is real, so the product is worth the drive. However, they do have a limited amount of product so if you love the Italian bagels or another flavor as much as we do, then you will need to get there early. Also, even though they close at 1:00pm, they tend to start putting stock away and cleaning up the kitchen well before then. So if you arrive at 12:30, it's hit or miss on getting something made for lunch. We will drive 20 mins to Love Bugs in Melbourne for breakfast on the go, cause the food is worth it. Wow!!! Such a great little place. We were in awe of the size of their donuts as well as their cupcakes. Their breakfast sandwiches are awesome and the coffee is so good. They even have a little "flavor bar" with a ton of assorted flavored syrups to add to your coffee. My boyfriend actually said, "I would live here." He would, too. I went in after finding them here (yelp) and was immediately greeted by several friendly faces, one very enthusiastic young man who was joking as soon as I walked in and asking how many dozen I'd like to get today. That is exactly how you want to be greeted! The energy and enthusiasm that came from him and the crew was amazing, and perfect for National Donut Day. I selected only two, and had to remind the gent at checkout about the free donut they had advertised on their social media site, but overall the trip here was great. I will definitely be back the next time I'm out visiting my family. By the way, I went and got a glazed donut and did a comparison tasting with my mother - comparing it to a Krispy Kreme glazed. I thought the food tasted homemade, the kind your mom would make for you. My only gripe is that I found it to be a little pricey, but the reality is you are paying for quality. It's best to purchase the special, sandwich and coffee. I've had stale scones there on 2 separate occasions, they sell old pastry. Their basic vanilla donut tastes like cardboard, even my 9-year-old wouldn't eat it. They seem to overcompensate for poor product with over-sweet fillings and toppings to create their specialty donuts; which then become sloppy messes. The apple-filled donut was ok in a Hostess Fruit Pie sort of way: memorably pleasantly artificial. They quoted me $50 (maybe it was $60) for a 9 inch birthday cake. No. Maybe Love Bugs was good once? We come from Winter Garden, but visit Disney's Vero Beach Resort often. This popped up on my Groupon and since it is right on the way, I decided to try it out. In a word... Amazing! Breakdown of the donuts we tried: Turtle - 9/10 - Tons of walnuts, chocolate, and caramel. Seriously, there is a ton of nuts on this thing! Strawberry Shortcake - 6/10 - I've never seen an option like this. This was good, but would be better with a some type of custard inside, instead of whipped cream. Bananas Foster - 8/10 - This was an amazing choice! It could use a bit more topping, but that's the only change I would make. Apple Fritter - 8/10 - A great apple fritter. Not the best I've ever had, but very good. Cronut - 7/10 - This was very good, but could have used a bit more glaze. I liked the shape of the donut, which set it apart. It was lighter than most cronuts I've eaten. It really could just use more glaze. Cinnamon Roll - 6/10 - This was really the only letdown. The tiny bit of glaze and the tiny "blop" of cream cheese icing really wasn't enough to make it good. It was a bit dry and because it was lacking icing, it couldn't come back from it. Boston Creme - 9/10 - It was delicious. Almost the best I've ever had. I really have no improvements that can be made. It had a ton of Bavarian Creme and it was delicious. Peanut Butter & Jelly - 10/10 - For me, this was the perfect donut. If you like peanut butter and jelly, you'll love this donut. It has a peanut butter icing, drizzled with the jelly. Then it was jelly-filled. It was scrumptious. It was my favorite. I'd highly recommend Love Bug's and I can't wait for our next trip to Vero so I can try their other varieties. What a great selection too I got a half dozen and after I left I was kicking myself asi munched on a churro donut that was THE BEST. That I should have gotten scones too.
