I LOVE Love Nails! I found them on Yelp a few years ago, and I always come back for great pedicures. The staff is friendly and accommodating to my schedule, and Dianne is my favorite pedicure Goddess ever! She takes whatever time my poor toes and calloused riding-boot feet need, and her attention to detail is unsurpassed. The personal service here is "small-town" feel with professional "big-city" results. Fast-forward several years: I'm still going to Love Nails and always get great service. Diane is still Awesome. I had a nice mani and pedi. My technician did a great job on my toes and a really nice paint job on my fingers however she didn't touch my cuticles!! If I was a manicure slob, I would be unhappy but the nice paint job and overall experience makes up for it. The reason why I can't give 4 stars is because my mom's manicure sucked and honestly looks like crap. The technicians' skill level is apparently inconsistent among the salon. I went in to get my acrylics taken off. They were pretty busy and gave me someone who clearly didn't know what she was doing. My nails were still glued on and she started scraping them off with a plastic tip without soaking them in acetone first. Another employee noticed this and brought a bowl of acetone and put my fingers in it, and it stung really bad because I had cuts all around my nails. It was one of the most painful experiences I've ever gone through. My thumb was bleeding and my nails were sore a week after. They still charged me but I did not tip. No love at Love. Just moved to Oak Park and needed a manicure/pedicure. This nail salon was the closest to me. I sat down and a woman ran some cold water for my feet and took off. I asked for hot water, she gave me a dash of lukewarm water and took off. I waited about 10 minutes and some teenagers came in for mani/pedis as walk ins. The woman directed a worker to skip over me and start on one of them. I got up and left. With regards to the environment this place is an eye soar. On cleanliness I noticed they use an handheld sander for callus removal. That is the most unsanitary thing you can do. I thought it was illegal. Needless to say I will not be coming back. The people are usually nice here but you will definitely more often than not get the bait and hook where you come in and they tell you they're available for nails and then you're stuck in a chair with water on your feet for 15+ minutes before anyone comes over. The pictures of manis on here look very nice but lately they've raised the prices and quality has gone down. Ripped off. Hoodwinked. Taken advantage of. While this salon looks ordinary and has a price board as you walk in, they are not scrupulous. I am a person who seldom goes to salons. These Vietnamese ladies saw what a mark I was. I am still fuming. I asked for a gel pedicure. I had decided to spoil myself. My girlfriend and I went together. We called it self care. The service was nice. The woman asked if I wanted gel polish. Lasts 2 months she repeated. Yes. Later she said she would give me a salt scrub since my feet were rough. She spoke in Vietnamese to her coworker. Just as Anjelah Johnson jokes about. My friend was charged $60. I couldn't see what she had done that cost so much. Then my gal finished and looked at me and said $60. We were both speechless. I paid her and tipped her. I felt as if there was no choice. Should I have called the police?! I have been to Love Nails twice now. The first time I got a shellac manicure and it was great. The second time... not so much. I went yesterday for a second time and received the worst manicure I have ever gotten. I wanted my shellac removed and a normal manicure. Some of my nails were much longer than the others- she cut them all off to be the same length with my shortest. That doesn't make me happy! The hand "massage" was less than 30 seconds total for both hands. She left numerous hang nails on my fingers. Her painting job was NOT good, three of my fingers were not fully painted (she missed the sides of the nails). Now less than 24 hours later- 2 of my nails have chipped. I called prior to this manicure to find out how much it was, they told me $12. She charged me $15- this could be due to having to remove the shellac polish but i'm not sure. I could have given myself a much better manicure. I will NOT be returning!!! read more

This place I have mixed feelings about. They do an ok job and I was going to them for a little while. I will say they are probably the best place I have found around me, however they arnt amazing. Here is where my real problem is, they charge $35 for a gel manicure. Like who do you think you are charging $10 above pretty much any other place I have every gone to. Like thats crazy to me. Once they did that I stopped going to them unless Im just doing a polish change or a regular mani pedi. I would recommend this place for a polish change, its cheap and they do a decent job. I really enjoyed my experience at Love Nails. I'm super picky about my nails - so much so, I rarely get them done anymore because honestly, the job I do at home 9 times out of 10 is waaay better than anything I receive at your typical salons. And trust me, I've tried a boatload of places located in TO, Westlake, the Valley, the Westside, BH, and rarely leave feeling that I got my $$$'s worth. I'm a perfectionist, from the filing shape, to the color choice, the nail polish selection, etc. I originally came to get shellac done as that's the one thing I cannot do at home. First off, I have to give them credit for being the first salon that's filed my nails into the PERFECT rounded square shape. Second, with Yen's help, I was able to find a lovely neutral pink that suited my olive skin tone for summer. I was loving the experience so much, I opted for a pedi and absolutely loved the end result of my hot orange toes, perfect to show off in sandals and high heels. Prices are very reasonable and they don't nag about extras like flower designs, callous remover, etc. Also, I noticed all the nail tools used were freshly sanitized and came from unopened bag. it's a place to go, i see a lot of experienced customers DO know how mani and pedi process work, so don't short cut anything and do decent work instead of trying too much upsell other things right away . and do not frown and just not happy when I decline the upsell but do a decent job of what was requested. there are several times i walked in , they can't take me in , and told me to come back later. that's just mean i'll go elsewhere instead to wait for mediocre service. unfortunately I can read facial expression and gesture with even speak in your own dialogue about how customers behave or so on, be careful with that and treat every customer respectfully... they do take plastic and on/off walkin svr sometimes. staff is inconsistent, some better some so inattentive . I am not one for small talks but keep in mind, i am like other experienced customers , i do not need to argue with anyone if i choose to turn down an upsell. or review will reveal here. read more

Facebook: A.B. Just had my nails done here in oak park. I walked in and asked for a $30 nail set in sparkly red. The lady did my nails and they looked like Isla had done them but I was going to say nothing. My friend said she should redo them so the manager came over and I said yes just redo plain red that's fine. A male manager walked over and asked my friend if she was my mother. She told him she wasn't. He tried to make conversation and referred to me as the "big woman". I told him yes I'm 6'1 and calling a woman "big" isn't the best idea. He went on to call me "big and grumpy." He said "oh now she's smiles." I told him I was smiling because I knew when I stood up I would be 12 inches taller than him. He then proceeded to tell me he could break both of my legs in one swift move. He could break one leg and then another leg. At that point I realized he was taking this joking too far. I went to pay my bill because I wanted to leave and then he told me it was $77. I couldn't believe it, I was going to pay it but my friend said it must be wrong. He then made another comment about me I can't remember because at that point I was feeling threatened and I said listen I just want to pay my bill and leave. I never once raised my voice, I never once complained or made any comment about anything so I couldn't understand why this was happening other than my size. He said "why are you so serious", I told him he just told me he could break my legs and that's not something you say to a woman (even joking around). He then became angry and told me to "shut my face and stop talking". I told him I just wanted my bill and to please let me sign it so I could leave. He then said "you are a teacher you should be patient, this is America the land of the free" and some other garbage mumbled making it out that I was somehow racist or something now. Then he threw the pen at me to sign the bill and we left. The other people looked shocked or were laughing and the only other male in the shop asked me "what I did to make this man say he would break my legs". I guess I said you should not call a woman big, and at that point it was joking and people laughed. I left shaking, disappointed in my nails and just sad. Why is this okay?What in the world just happened. It's absolutely absurd that someone felt they could sit there and get their nails done with this man managing the store. I had regular polish on my toes, she used a nail file to get the color off, which cut me then she let me know I came in with a cut and should be more careful. I told her she cut me and to stop with the file, she spoke perfect english so I know she understood. She just laughed at me. Could not get the water temp right, paint was so sloppy! I saw them reuse the plastic covers for the foot spa and was disgusted, watched my nail tech use the same unwashed tools on another customer. So gross! Don't go here!!! I went to USA nails when I first moved here, but even more so now that they expanded, I feel like it is nothing more than a factory. So I switched to affection and was going there. But since I live in Oak Park i want to support my local businesses so I began going to Love after dropping my son at KKPS. I love this place! I have had gel mani's but 3 diferent people, and each time they have gone 4 weeks without chips or nail breakage. So I know that it is the material they use, not just the people that is great. most places you can gel gel by one person there and it will last, but someone else may do it the next time around and it will suck. I have gotton acrylics there before by Donna and Danny... also both were fab. Anyone there is great. I will never go anywhere else again. read more

I've been to Love Nails a few times... I've been disappointed on a few occasions... The location is extremely convenient and I've lucked out a few times when I've gotten paired with good technicians. The salon appears to have somewhat of a revolving door of employees so it is not easy to request someone. The technicians that are consistently skillful are very busy and it's rare to walk in and find one of them be available. The first few times I visited this salon I was pleased with the outcome but the last several times I have been there I haven't. Three times I requested a gel nail polish French manicure. The first time is was lovely and lasted a very long time. Another time I requested the same but with a glitter topcoat and it too was lovely and long wearing. On two other occasions the white tips were swollen and began looking dirty or stained within the first week. I had not used my hands for anything other than usual so that was a mystery. I've been getting gel French manicures for many years and this has never happened before ??? Recently I had a pedicure that didn't dry for hours. I put on ugg boots 7 hours after having the pedicure and when I removed the boots an hour later the nails were stuck to the fur. The last gel "manicure" I received looked so terrible. The nails look like bad acrylic nails. I have natural nails. They are extremely thick and swollen. Although I expressed to the technician I'd wanted them to be shaped "square", she rounded them and they look like drugstore "press on nails". Also, I requested and paid for a gel manicure but I only received a polish change. No soaking, no work on my cuticles. Only filing and thick application of polish. Very disappointed in this salon. read more
