I've been to Love Nails a few times... I've been disappointed on a few occasions... The location is extremely convenient and I've lucked out a few times when I've gotten paired with good technicians. The salon appears to have somewhat of a revolving door of employees so it is not easy to request someone. The technicians that are consistently skillful are very busy and it's rare to walk in and find one of them be available. The first few times I visited this salon I was pleased with the outcome but the last several times I have been there I haven't. Three times I requested a gel nail polish French manicure. The first time is was lovely and lasted a very long time. Another time I requested the same but with a glitter topcoat and it too was lovely and long wearing. On two other occasions the white tips were swollen and began looking dirty or stained within the first week. I had not used my hands for anything other than usual so that was a mystery. I've been getting gel French manicures for many years and this has never happened before ??? Recently I had a pedicure that didn't dry for hours. I put on ugg boots 7 hours after having the pedicure and when I removed the boots an hour later the nails were stuck to the fur. The last gel "manicure" I received looked so terrible. The nails look like bad acrylic nails. I have natural nails. They are extremely thick and swollen. Although I expressed to the technician I'd wanted them to be shaped "square", she rounded them and they look like drugstore "press on nails". Also, I requested and paid for a gel manicure but I only received a polish change. No soaking, no work on my cuticles. Only filing and thick application of polish. Very disappointed in this salon. read more

I've been coming here for a while. The last few times have been disappointing. I'm now DONE. Went Thursday with my 2 daughters. They both got gels. Both of them had cracked & chipped nails within 24 hours - 3 fingers for one & 4 for the other! My manicurist, not sure what his name is but - AWFUL! I have burns on every finger on my right hand from him using the drills. Not just a "hotspot" my entire cuticle on my thumb & 2 fingers. I kept saying Ow during the fill - he just didn't "get it". Not only that my nails are so THICK it looks amateurish with lots of tiny bubbles & some not so small bubbles.... My pedicure was done $35 - when I got home I had to clean up the polish off my toes, my "little toe" half painted...The polish is uneven & looks like it was old or thinned out. Everyone but the guy who did my nails is extremely nice & polite. Just not doing a good job at their prices...going elsewhere from now on. read more

I snuck away from the hubby and kids while they were at Bright Child to get a mani/pedi. The place was clean, the workers friendly. The girls who did my feet and nails did a good job. My manicure could have been polished better but since I only got clear polish, no biggie. They accept debit/credit cards but will ask you to write a check if you pull out a card...something about the owner wanting to avoid the fees associated with credit cards. Luckily, I had my checkbook in my purse and could happily oblige. I will go back the next time we're in the area. I paid $25 for a mani/pedi which seems to be the going rate for a spa mani/pedi these days. read more

Even if you make an appointment, they will still never start on time. Even if you arrive ten minutes early. Then once they start your treatment they will hurry up and rush you out to get to their next appointment 20 minutes late. They really need to stop over booking. read more

The owner of Love Nails, Sharon, has been doing nails locally for many years. I have followed her from two local salons before she opened her own nail salon in Oak Park. Sharon and her staff do excellent nails, spa pedicures and facials. They also give an excellent massage. Prices are reasonable and they are open 7 days per week. Excellent service! read more

I used to come here a lot due to it being so close to my home. I would usually get my nails done very well but today was the final straw. I know being a walk in I don't have priority over appointments, I respect that fully. That being said I sat at the manicure station for 20 minutes waiting until a nail tech came over. Keep in mind I come here a lot but didn't need the full services so decided on a color change. The nail tech did a sloppy job and then charged me and threw my car down in front of me with a pen. Back for a follow-up review. Second time and so impressed. Yen is amazing. I gave gel a third chance and I am so pleased. I am very hard on my hands and nail polish usually chips within the first two or three days. It has been two weeks since I was there and needed a touch up last week for one nail I had biffed with a knife (don't ask :)) I love them...kinda crazy to say, but I sit and admire the fabulous job Yen does. By far one of the worst manicures I've ever had. I get gel and they didn't clean up the excess and it's all goopy on my skin. Tina did my nails and she is rough. My daughter and I went to Love Nails today to have our nails done. I only needed a color change and my daughter wanted to try their gel pedicure/manicure. My daughter had KEVIN doing her manicure. He was so rude, to start off....he did not like her choice of nail color. He kept suggesting she pick a different color. He talked to her during the manicure (spoke perfect English) and when it came time to pay for her nails, she paid by credit card ( she had had some fraudulent activity on her card earlier in the day, and was unaware that her bank had put a hold on her card to investigate) when she went to use it to pay for her nails....it was denied.However, he didn't quietly come over to her and suggest she use another card. No.........he yelled out for everyone to hear. "NO MONEY IN YOUR ACCOUNT" She was so embarrassed. She realized what had happened and gave him another card. When she handed him his tip of $6.00.....he said "$6.00 for all three of us to share!!! Again she was taken back by his rude comment. I wasn't aware anyone was obligated to tip....never mind questioning how much of a tip you receive. My daughter has always been a fantastic tipper. She then explained that she had given the gentleman who did her pedicure $5.00 and that I had tipped my person already. Kevin was getting a $6.00 tip and was complaining!!!! This was the rudest and most unprofessional day at the nail salon we have ever experienced. When we called to express our disappointment with the manager and then the owner.....we were again disappointed. The OWNERS explanation was......KEVIN doesn't speak English very well! Worst nail experience I've ever had. I believe she said her name is Sherry. She was so unfriendly and rude. I felt that she disliked me even though I was new. I only wanted a nail fill. She said I needed a new set. I said I'm in a hurry I'll get a new set next time. She said you need it. I said it will be ok until next time. She insisted. I said I can go somewhere else if you don't want to do them. She roughly did them and filed so hard one chipped she said I told you! They were done poorly and the fill was very thin. I've been coming to Love Nails for 2 years. I'm a perfectionist and this is the only place I'll go. Sharon is the best at gel fills, perfect every time, thin and natural, and she's very sweet. Susan keeps my feet pretty and happy. Both are very detail oriented.This is an unbeatable duo if you can book them together. They have a great selection of OPI and one stop for waxing too. I just moved to the Oak Park area and Love Nails Salon was down the street. I was very impressed with my first visit! They give amazing pedicures/manicures. Last week they were able to take me 15min after they closed, it was so nice. I really like their nail polish color selection too. They keep a huge stock of Essie nail polish, my favorite. Fine clear Polish manicure however the sign states $13 hot oil manicure. No hot oil was used. When I asked she stated she used a hot washcloth. If I'd had $13, I would have paid just that since signage is misleading with an attitude.. I didn't say anything when she didn't offer. I'll try another spot next time. read more

I tried this nail salon today as it was near my house. What a disappointment. The woman that did my pedicure did not say hello, was so unfriendly I felt extremely uncomfortable and she did not even touch my cuticles. She was speaking in her own language(not English) to the other nail technician and clearly said something about me when I did not leave a good tip. Here is a tip for you... be courteous, do a good job and you will get a good tip. I will not be returning to this nail salon. Went to get my nails done today. I showed up without an appointment at 6pm and the place was empty. I immediately got a table with a woman (I didn't get her name) and I asked for a French Gel Manicure. She seemed distracted the entire time and even forgot to put on the pink coat on one of my hands before doing the white. I pointed this out and she seemed apologetic and fixed the situation. Do not bother making an appointment, it's a waste of time. You may have better luck as a walk-in. More than once, I arrive at my appt. time, only to have to sit and wait for 15 min. or more. Recently, when I showed up for my appt., I was asked could I come back in 45 min. Seriously??? This is not the way to run a business. I will not be going back again. I have known Sharon, the owner, for many years. She is one of the sweetest people I have ever met with a delightful sense of humor and she does a beautiful job on my nails. I found her at another shop and followed her to Love Nails when she opened. When she has been unavailable, I have also had great work done by others, especially Cindy and Jennifer. I've also been pleased with the pedicures. I have come to know her personally and know of her family life. She works very hard to run her business 7 days a week and balance it with the care of her two young children. Her wonderful husband is often in the shop helping. I find it appalling that a few commenters here make presumptuous (and wrong) interpretations about how she speaks to her staff or how she treats them when the commenters themselves very likely don't know a word of Vietnamese and do not understand the particular intonations of that language. I have been to Vietnam. That's how the spoken language sounds! In addition, please consider anyone in her position has to balance and direct service to scheduled patrons and walk-ins alike, orchestrating assignments by speaking across the room while she is in the middle of doing someone's nails and answering the phone and making change. She wants to insure fairness among her staff so that the alternate taking the walk-ins. One minute, the place is quiet and the next it is full of customers. In all my years going there I have only had to wait more than 15 minutes once or twice. How does someone judge this business based on a single experience? The ladies all say hello and goodbye to me and know my name. They talk and laugh amongst themselves and sometimes share the joke with me when I ask what's so funny. read more

I used to come here all the time but I finally stopped after my last trip in April. I went in with a picture of what I wanted (as I always have.) it was Easter, so I wanted Easter colors and I had cool ombré colors picked out on the gel sample. I showed them my picture (below) and immediately they said they couldn't do that because it was 3 colors. I said fine, and then I would chose 2 instead. They still said they couldn't do the ombré at all. WHAT? 1)You are a salon, someone here must be trained to be able to do something like this. It isn't that hard, I could probably figure it out myself. 2) They've done it before!! I tried explaining to the lady that I got it before there and that was what I wanted. So they agreed. I was willing to pay them whatever price they wanted for their time because I know it's more than a regular gel manicure. The results make me laugh. I have always had fantastic experiences here...reviewed them back in September. I have been going to Love for years...but may need to reconsider. Dropped my daughter and her friends off for a holiday treat. One of the girls nails were below standard. Crooked acrylics, not buffed, polish not removed from the cuticles...just NOT GOOD! When I explained our disappointment the staff was willing to help, but Sharon was rude and non responsive. some of the staff wanted her to sit down to fix, but we had to go...so Sharon basically said that was all she could do is fix them . It's the holidays-and we were on a time restraint. She turned around and wouldn't even talk to me. One of the manicurist apologized and gave her a gift certificate. I would definitely NOT suggest getting your eyebrows done here. I told the woman there that it was my first time getting my eyebrows done at Love Nails and that I had never ever gotten my eyebrows hot waxed; she said alright, no problem. And styling wise, she did a great job, no doubt. But about two days later, I ended up having the absolute worst burns all around my eyebrows thanks to the hot wax. I was never given a warning that this could or would happen--in fact, I was guaranteed that this would be a lot less painful compared to threading. Trust me, those burns were the farthest thing from painless. They lasted for a while, so yeah, PSA: DO NOT BE FOOLED WHEN THEY SAY ITS PAINLESS ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE DRY OR SENSITIVE SKIN !! NOBODY THERE WILL EVEN ASK YOU IF YOU HAVE SENSITIVE SKIN !! They just get down to it and two days later, you too could end up with these burns. read more
