Hiddenite Family Campground - Perfect campsite!

What a find! After a long day of searching for a campground that met our needs, we found it!…read more We are tent campers so finding a place where you are not on top of each other and don't have to hike a mile into the woods isn't easy. There are a few tent areas and ours was 4 spots, however, they could've put in about 20, so yes, they are huge! We were able to sprawl out and have all the space we could ever need. This campground is on 30 acres. It has a pool, bathhouse, beach volleyball, playground, sandbox, 2 pavilions, and a small farm. The farm has a bunny, 2 miniature horses, a full-sized horse, goats, and 2 pigs. The owners live on the property and are very accessible and friendly. We needed wood for our fire and they have it for sale. They even deliver it to your site. The price is right (compared to Walmart or Lowes where the bundles of wood are tiny and burn so quick that you run thru $100 in a night) Our $20 in wood lasted for 1.5 days, which is good since we like fire! The site was super quiet and it was like a little oasis. Where we were was right by the river, so you can hear the babbling, quite peaceful! We had a bunch of trees that kept the campsite cool during the day. There are some tent spots in the middle of the camper areas, but luckily they put us away from everything! There is another tent area that sits across the brook (cute little bridge to get to that side) and I couldn't count how many spots could go into that area, it's wide open! There will be another trip planned!

The managers are extremely helpful! We didn't have an extension cord long enough, and Tom brought us one even though it was night time. Very friendly staff. One of our favorite campgrounds yet! And it's right next to Mayberry from the Andy Griffith show! Lots to do in the area and we can't wait to come back!

Jomeokee Campground is one of the most beautiful places I have ever spent the night (and I have…read morecamped throughout the US, Australia, and New Zealand). I drove from my home in Durham, NC, to the Pilot Knob lookout toward Pilot Mountain (a popular place), stayed for the sunset, and then decided to stay for the night. Because I was booking my weekday campsite after dark, I called rather than just booking online. The owner, Tom Pace, told me he could sell me a bunch of good dry wood for $10 and gave me directions to the nearest ATM/store and the campground (wood required cash payment, online site reservation did not). All were easy to find, even in the dark. Tom and his 11YO daughter came down shortly after I arrived, and he set up and lit my campfire for me (!). We talked a bit and then they left me to take in the fire-lit night. I could see the shadow of Pilot Mountain across the field in front of my campsite, but I was unprepared for the majestic view that met me in the morning. It was foggy as I lit my fire, and I sat on the same bench as the night before (the one beside my fire pit) and watched the fog turn into clouds and then disappear completely, revealing the best base view of Pilot Mt I'd seen (I have been there twice). Even the bench I sat on was a reflection of love and spiritual well being - "May All Who Sit Here Be Filled with Love" was carved by hand (probably by pocket knife) into the back of the bench. My eyes welled with tears. I needed this hug from the Universe. The couple beside me (campsites are very well spaced, with ample attention to privacy) gave me a cup of coffee and a packet of pop tarts, so I remained in the campground until nearly 2 o'clock, walking to the nearby pond and across the meadow, wishing I could be on my horse. When I returned to my campsite, I reserved it for another night, which was easy to do because I had better cellphone reception at the campground than I do in my own house. I went to the Pilot Mt visitor's center (a 10-minute drive), then walked the relatively flat 2.5-mile Bean Shoals Access Trail along the creek - the trees were glowing with autumn colors. It was easy to get lunch and ice and groceries and dinner - everything was within a ten-minute drive, and any food I ordered was well prepared, well presented, and tasty. I am returning with my sons soon, because they can do virtual schooling at the campground using our phones as hotspots. I want them to experience the regenerating magic I was privileged to experience at Jomeokee Campground. The campground provides potable running water, electricity, and hot showers, and the bathrooms are large and well kept, as are the grounds. I cannot say enough about this place.

WiFi was available and most sites are open to the sky for on air channels. There's no off leash dog park, cable, pool or playground but there's plenty of space to walk the dogs and plenty to see around the area. Water pressure seemed a little low so we didn't use a pressure regulator. Laundry room was super clean. It's $1 each to wash and dry and it's on the honor system so you deposit money into a box on the wall. Bathrooms and showers were also super clean. As full-timers, we were quite impressed with this lovely park. It's apparent that the owner takes a lot of pride in this park and manages it well. It's a nice quiet campground perfect for decompressing and getting away for awhile. Owner is on the premises, available and has plans for future improvements. This is truly a gem that we plan to return to in the future.

Ten years ago we bought our diesel pusher motor home and my wife searched Google for "big rig friendly campgrounds"...up popped Cool Breeze Campground in Galax, VA. We got here July 9th this time to be near our new baby grand daughter in Bluefield and we'll stay this time until August 26th when we just have to leave! This campground is extremely well designed and the flat sites have hard packed gravel and are well groomed. The bath house is extremely clean. The owner is friendly and enjoys telling his campers about local attractions and events. ENJOY!!!

Was an Understatement. Monday through Thursday was completely Miserable Heat temp related. At night sitting in the Trailer with the AC running full blast, I was Still Sweating my Ars off. Had a really Severe Storm pass through there on Friday evening. Wind, Rain, Hail etc. tree debris was falling all around. We left to take our Grandson to a church we used to go to when we lived down there around 5:30 PM. Evidently just after we left they had power Failure at the Park. We returned a little after 9:00 PM to find the Power out. So we just got ready for bed. I'm so thankful that Friday was a lot Cooler. We left the Windows open creating a cross wind. We got up in the Morning and squared everything away and hooked up. We were on the road by 8:30 & back in Virginia about 11:30. AM. (Scheduled return day). The Power still was not back on. The Host had reported it at 5:46pm. Any way. Kudos to the Park. 5 nights $190 total, $38 a night. Very Clean bath House was clean and cleaned regularly. My only Complaint was there was no AC or Dehumidifier in it. The Had Three RV Host Trailers. So very good Host Coverage. Just Thanks from Us. P. S. The power outage was only a miner set back but was okay and in no way related to the Park or it's Control.

They keep each of the sites clean. Nice sites under tall trees for shade. There are walking trails in the woods (ask the camp hosts how to get there as there is a cut through straight to them), horse stables, golfing, and a dog park for big dogs and a dog park for small dogs. It is located almost across the street from a major grocery store (Harris Teeter),Jersey Mikes etc. The only reason I gave a 4 instead of 5 is because some of the sites are not very level.
