I had an appointment at Lovely Nails about a week ago. I made an appointment for my daughter upon leaving , letting Ryan, the nail tech know that I get off of work at 4:30 and that I was working from home. I did not realize until I received my notification about my upcoming appointment that he scheduled my appointment for 4:30. I called to let him know that when we spoke, I said I get off of work at 4:30, and I would be about five mins late bc I have to log off of work. This guy told me that if I was not there by 4:30 I would lose my deposit. While I was trying to explain to him that I told him that I get off of work at 4:30 he kept cutting me off telling me that he confirmed my 4:30 appointment with me and if I was not there, I will lose my deposit. During him cutting me off I was trying to tell him that I was going to get my husband to drop my daughter off and I wanted to know if he took a deposit for my services as well since I was getting a pedicure. He continued to cut me off and was about to hang up until I told him to hold on for a minute and ask him the question again. That's when I got my reply that he did not take a deposit for my pedicure. When I arrived, there was a person in his chair and he did get done before 4:30. However, he told my daughter to take a seat in his chair while he proceeded to start on someone's pedicure. It was 3:27 PM and my daughter's appointment was in three minutes. At 3:30 PM, I told him it's 330 and he told me OK. I asked him, so you are telling me that I had to be here at 4:30 however you are doing someone's toes. He said yes and before I acted a fool, I replied OK that's how it is, so that I can have a moment to collect my thoughts. During that time, he asked me if I had any questions that was when I gave him the reply I about having to be there at 4:30 PM and you are starting on someone else during my appointment time. He asked me if I wanted a refund and I told him I did. He gave me my money and I left. He lost two customers today. That does not include my other two daughters that goes around there to get their nails done. They will not be returning either. But the disrespect is unbelievable, and before I go to jail, I will go somewhere else to be better serviced. I will go to someone who knows that just as much as I want to have my nails and tools done that they need to pay their bills. Ryan is the most ignorant, disrespectful motherfucker I ever saw in my life. Excuse my French! If you like being treated like crap, go there to be serviced. If you want an experience, because you deserve an experience after taking care of your family all week and working all week, I would suggest that you go somewhere else to be serviced! read more

I've never been banned from an establishment but there's a first time for everything. I'm assuming this is due to the last review I left which was actually generous. I said the NAILS ARE GOOD. The place can be cleaner & the customer service can be better. What's wrong with that? A professional business owner would take the constructive criticism, make changes, and keep it pushing. Ryan is far from professional. I failed to mention when my sister went for her pedicure, he left for about 20 minutes during the pedi to go give someone keys. Who does that? When I called to make an appointment I was told that Ryan is booked. Mind you, I didn't mention a date, time, or service. Just call back later, I'm booked. I thought he was busy at the moment so I'm like I'll call back in a few hours. Then I realized people's nails are already done since NYE was yesterday. So I call back & just asked "am I not allowed to make an appointment anymore?" To which he responded "yeah". I said okay and hung up. I'm not a "why?!" individual. The why doesn't matter. The technician ruined my daughter's nails. Instead of removing the buttagel by soaking her nail he used the electric dremel and her nails are so thin and they hurt her hands. They never had me wash my hands before applying new gel. We will never go there again. I am thinking about calling the health department to look into there poor hygiene practice. read more

I always come here for pedicures BUT today was the last time. The woman who did my nails was older. She's didn't pay attention to any requests! I told her THREE times about my shape and she still filed them however she wanted to. She KEPT cutting my cuticles while drilling my nails! For the design, I had to pick out my own base color.... I've been getting my nails done for 20 years and that's never happened. I show a design and they pick the colors. I picked the color and the brand that was being used I'm guessing is not very pigmented. She did THREE coats and the polish was still streaky. SHE ASKED "do you want me to take off the polish" because she KNEW it was not looking good. I said yes please because you're almost on the fourth coat and it still doesn't look good. After filing the color off, she just gets up and leaves. No one says anything to me. A new tech comes off and just hands me the different polishes. No hi hello I'll be taking over.... I tell the new tech to not even worry about polishing my nails because at this point, I'm annoyed now. I own a business work on making your customer's experience excellent. I wasn't nasty to her, I wasn't rude, I was politely telling her what I preferred etc.... WORK ON CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!!! Everyone handled the situation poorly, I was cool calm and collected but they will never get another dollar out of me! 0/10 read more

I had one of the worst nail salon experiences today with Brian, and I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. First, I handed Brian the exact color swatch, and he still put the wrong color on my nails. When I told him it was incorrect, he actually argued with me about it and then charged me to remove HIS mistake. I refused to argue back, and only after the fact did he apologize and say he "couldn't help himself." That alone was unprofessional and unacceptable. But what really upset me was what I witnessed next. He left another customer's hands soaking in acetone for way too long, completely ignoring her. She asked multiple times for the acetone to be removed. Her hands turned red, she repeatedly told him it was burning, and he kept insisting it was "not." She was visibly in pain, and he still did nothing. The level of negligence and disrespect I saw today was alarming. Between ruining my service, charging me for his error, arguing with customers, and ignoring someone clearly in pain, I will never return. This salon needs to seriously evaluate their staff and customer care--especially Brian. read more

By far the best nail salon I've been to in the 3 years of living in owings mills, it was a little pricey $160 after tip for a fill in and pedicure (I tipped $20 to each tech though) I was in and out in a little over an hour they were patient l, I think their customer service was perfect not everyone loves to talk but he listened to me talk and didn't seem bothered! I thought I'd give a review since no one has in years. Right now my nail style is faux long stiletto nails with solid gel polish. I don't get designs or anything. I also prefer my nail bed to be rather flat and thin. Other places I've gone ( or friends who get their nails done) do their acrylic so thick and they keep stacking it on and I hate it! Tiffany did my nails and she understood NOT to make my nail bed look thick and crazy. She does them perfectly! After they start getting too long, she has no problem cutting them down. I went there to get a pedicure before my vacation and when I asked a simple question about the callus remover the lady act like she didn't speak English so the nail tech beside her who was doing my mom nails told me not to ask her any questions she knows what she is doing! When I pulled up it was completely empty which was a red flag for a Friday evening but what turned me off was looking through a window and seeing a dog roam around the nail Shop. I love dogs but they have no business in a nail salon and she was plying with the dog in the nail chair. That was enough for me to drive somewhere else. Very UNprofessional business practices. I am not one who typically gets my nails done, because I don't like to spend time in a salon. With nicer weather on the horizon, I decided to treat myself to a pedicure. Since I was right near the salon, I decided to get it done while the spirit moved me! Bad decision. When I got home, I noticed Andy did not paint some of my nails all the way to the end. It looked like a bad French mani on SOME nails. One my one big toe, he didn't even paint all the way to my cuticle. When I called the salon to see if I could come back to have them fixed, she said it would be $15 for a polish change! I reminded her that I had JUST left there an hour ago. She remembered me and said they would have to spend more time, so it would be $15 to change the color. I told the owner I was there for my appointment and she mumbled under her breath "oh my God". I visited this shop on a Tuesday & by (today), that Saturday the acrylic on my left middle finger chipped in two places AND the gel polish on my right thumb came off. They trimmed her nails unevenly, they didn't even paint the color on correctly, there was a parrot or something flying around our heads IN the store. Worst part of all of this was them telling us we had to leave. My daughter was drying her nails on an empty day and the manager tells us that we have to go after she was drying for maybe 2 minutes. Not a native of Baltimore, so I counted on my Yelpers to find me the closest place to do my nails and here I am! Lovely nails is not too spacious, however, it is an efficient and clean establishment. I had to knock off a star because the technician doing my nails forgot to either buff or file one of my nails twice and she nicked my cuticle bed causing me to bleed on two fingers. Honestly, I would be even more pissed if my nails weren't so cute, lol. I do believe she is a newbie and the other techs warned her about her slip-ups. Plus, the prices are just right! A Asian couple runs the nail shop and work together too. The wife has the extra job of the waxing and she does a nice job. Whenever I decide to get my eyebrows waxed this is where I go in the county for $8. I enjoy the pedicure with the hot, bubbling water, but the best part for me is the massaging chair. I'd come in just for the massage chair if they'd offer that as a single service. They move swiftly and are serious about the job. Sometimes it is just the two of them working and if you're lucky it'll be up to four people. They are friendly, but sometimes it seems that the language is a barrier but I still patronize and do recommend Lovely Nails. read more

Got the $30 pedicure special; and oh how special it is. In my opinion, what separates this establishment from others is the value they give you and the attention to detail. For the special, they wash your feet and trim your nails and cuticles. Then they scrape the hard skin off your heels and other rough spots. They condition and wrap your feet with the wonderful minty concoction and a hot towel. They then moisturize your feet and legs (they offered a clear coat but I politely declined; ladies, this is where you get happy with the color and coating of your choice). It feels amazing, and again, attention to detail was key for me (not that I watched like a hawk through the whole procedure, but when I did look, I can tell my specialist was focused on her job and making sure she did a good job. I'm only over this way a few times a year, but will try to treat myself again when I a'm out this way. read more

I went to this place and I don't recommend it to anyone. First of all the guy who was doing my nails was rude. He kept on pulling and pushing my hand in a bad way. He cut one of my finger and despite that I told him that he was hurting me he kept on doing it until my finger was bleeding. He was so mad because I complained about the blood and the pain. Then two other ladies came trying to fix his bad job and they couldn't. No one there know how to do nails but the owner and she is always busy. This was the second time I was giving this place a chance and I regret it. The owner had to almost do the whole process again and finished my nails that only last two days because two days after two nails felt out and the third day two more nails came out.so I wasted my money and I'm not mentioning that the first night I couldn't sleep with the pain on my finger. I had a French gel manicure, with designs and a regular pedicure on Sunday April 8. By Saturday April 14, I noticed my fingernails chipping and coming loose near the cuticle. On April 16, I stopped in to let them know about the problem. The man that I assumed was the manager, asked who the tech was. I explained to him that I wasn't able to come in until Wednesday after work at 4:30. I asked if I needed to make an appointment, or give my name, he said no, just come in. When I arrived at 4:30 on Wednesday, I was completely ignored. I waited a few seconds to be acknowledged, since I know they saw me, and said , 'I am here for my nail repair at 4:30', still nothing... I said it again, this time the manager said , "you don't have an appointment!" I explained that I spoke with him and he was the one who told me I didn't need to give my name or make an appointment , just show up. Then he says, 'you said you would be here in the morning'. I said, 'I did not, I told you I would be here after work', ( as I stood there in my work uniform). More ignoring until I said, 'who is going to take care of this, before I have to get my credit card company involved?' At that point the nail tech who did it in the first place spoke up and said, "I can't, I have to go to school!" After I insisted, someone needed to fix them, she told me to come over. Ignoring her original customer (whom I apologized to, and was vey gracious) she took 3 minutes and filed and painted over the chips. As I left, I told them how rude and unprofessional they were and that I hoped the people in there, would reconsider and patronize another place in the future, especailly after they saw how I was treated. Woooo, chile. The GHETTO. Now listen, I've been going to this establishment for over a year. I haven't really had any REAL problems or issues here under the management of Jimmy, the former owner - he was just an a-hole but that's another story for another day. Anyway, today, i saw a bunch of new faces and none of my usuals which was discouraging, but i still said why not. My toes looked liked Myra's on the episode of Martin at Shanaynay's nail salon. Anyway, i only came in for a pedi and the new guy there decided to take me. He was nice and kind of funny so I said okay this should be a breeze. Everything was OKAY until he started to paint. Just by the way he was holding the polish brush, i knew i was in for a MESS. lord, i just waited patiently though. He proceeded to paint and it was a disaster. I waited until the end because i figured this was just a joke and that this was his own special technique and in the end it would be beautiful. It wasn't. He did really poorly. He was still really nice so i was nice back. I said the painting is bad and it needed to be redone. He kept apologizing and tried to fix it and said he would do better next time. BOY THERE IS NO NEXT TIME. he called the owner, Helen, and she was pissed that she had to fix it but she was mad at ME, the customer, for speaking up. In my head I'm like you got some nerve sis. Anyway, she takes off the polish and has one of the other ladies (who did my friend's feet) polish and she also didn't know how to polish but it was better. She kept putting too much polish on my big toe and i literally had to take off the polish on MY big toe MYSELF and fix it since they did not know what they were doing. It was all a mess and they were all pissed that i spoke up. They were all paid and tipped already TOO which is the worst part. They had some nerve. They have no problem taking the black dollar but when it comes to completing the service they are paid to do, its a problem. A MESS. DO NOT GO HERE. don't be fooled by the low prices.
