My new favorite spot! First off, she nailed my pedicure! (pun intended). I got the deluxe peppermint pedicure which included peppermint soak, scrub, Ect, hot towels, hot stone massage, and paraffin wax dip. She spent extra time on my Cuticles, and cut my nails short like I like them. As far as sanitation and following Covid cleaning protocols this place goes above and beyond. Watched them disinfect stations, tools, chairs ect. Social distancing rules followed including plexiglass. Everyone who entered had their temperature taken upon arrival, name/contact info and temp written down. Masks mandatory. Bonus is staff was SUPER friendly! I will be back. I used to go here years and years ago...like the early 2000's lol. I know what your thinking ( why would you even be writing a review now, its a little late dont you think?) Lol..well heres the deal. After ready most all these reviews i noticed its 50/50...about even between 5 stars and 1 to 2 stars. It took me back to the time i was a regular there for quite awhile ( about 6 months or so). I went in one day and i already knew it was going to end in catastrophe. The gal i wanted was on vacation so they had a new gal( super young, she looked 12 but im sure she was at least 18). Someone else put my tips on( i was in for a full set and pedi), and the young girl then took over in filing and shaping my nails. Let me tell you i was ready to grab that drill from her hand and do it myself after watching her and feeling her bur the skin off right at my cuticle!! ( im familar with slo speed drills and acrylic burs im a dental assiatant and use that drill for making temporary crowns all the time). She apologized and continued on..when she started shaping with the file i kept telling her i want square swuare not round square(( or squaval as they refer to it nowadays). Anyways she finished and let me tell you the shape looked ridiculous! I mean wtf! I paid , walked out to my car and turned around and walked back in and asked go speak with the owner Jen( same owner then in the early 2000's as now..shes probably lost her passion for the industry by now lol). Anywho, she looks at my nails and says whats wrong with them? I looked at her and said " really?? Can you not see how ridiculous these are and how stupid the shape is? So she grabs a file while im standing at the front desk and starts filing on them( AGAIN ..REALLY??!!). They looked no better than when i left the first time. They know im a regular and for some reason thought i wouldnt care the outcome of my nails by throwing me to the greenhorn in the back!..i was very dissapointed..i always tipped that place well to...always 20 dollar tip ( back in early 2000s that was BIG TIP!)..So it was obvious to me the owner didnt give a shit who i was...i thought well it was only one time ill give them another chance..N O P E!! BAD SERVICE AGAIN! I WAS DONE!!..I feel like its a trend. I have been going to this salon for over 6 years and I am never disappointed in the services they provide. They are always looking to make your experience more enjoyable and luxiourous. Today I upgraded my pedicure to the new volcano spa experience and it was AMAZING. Their basic pedicure is an experience in itself but the new treatment really gives you the pampering you deserve and at a great price! I work 12 hours on my feet and I always feel like a million bucks walking out. Side note: I have tried the new dip manicure at other salons and I feel like I'm always rushed through and it doesn't last very long. I had my nails done for only the 2nd time in my life I usually just like my nails short clean and healthy natural, but my daughter wanted to go get her nails done so we went together and I guess I had the owner on my nails I think she did a good job I don't know I will show pictures. My daughter asked for almond shape she even told her I can show you a picture but the person doing her nails said no and gave her A ballerina style instead I even had to get up from my my nails being done and tell this person three times to make them shorter! I wish I could give ZERO stars! I walked and asked for a pedicure. They said sure and got the water started and had me soak my feet. Normally not a big deal but less then 10 minutes later a group of girls come in a said they had an appointment. I have been waiting for 40 minutes and the lady finally came over to do my toes. My water is cold and my feet have been soaking so long it's hurting. I understand I was a walk in but they couldn't tell me they had people coming and there would be a wait? This is the gross part. The wax they put on your feet to make them feel soft was in a warm tub off to the side of the chair that the lady before me dipped her feet in. Not changed out and not sanitary at all. I feel so gross because this place did not seem clean and now I am paranoid for my feet. Oh and the other lady that was getting a manicure kept saying the women was hurting her but the lady doing her nails didn't seem your care. Worst nail experience ever! read more

I just moved to this part of Tacoma and was looking for a new nail place and this is closest to me. I wasn't expecting anything crazy because of the review but I have to say. They did an amazing job! They got me in right away and I get medium/long acrylics with gel polish on top. I came in needing a fill and 2 nails repaired and they did just that. My reasoning for giving 4 out of 5 starts instead of the 5 is because I got to them at 1:45 pm and didn't leave the salon till 3:30 pm. I didn't have anywhere to be that day and I wasn't in a rush but that seems like a very long time for a fill and I've just never had that long of a sitting time before. Also the lady I was with didn't actually let me see the swatched of gel nails (this might have been because someone else was, I'm not sure) but she just asked what color polish I wanted so I had to describe a color. Luckily she was spot on but I was just a little thrown off by that. Overall they were really nice. My nails look perfect and are super smooth and I will probably be going here again! read more

About 3 weeks ago, I went to a different salon to get a new set done because I was given a gift certificate. They did a HORRIBLE HORRIBLE job and don't correct their messups. So today, one of my nails fell off and at least 5 of my other nails were getting loose. I pass by Lovely Nails every day on my way to and from work but I never thought to stop by until today. My nails were horrendous when the nail tech first started to file down my nails for a fill (only $15!) and replace the nail I lost. SHE DID AN AMAZING JOB! It took about an hour because my nails needed some serious fixing and now they look and feel so much better and they are the length I originally wanted when I first got my set at the other salon. While trying to make our way to Japan our flight got delayed and I was in desperate need of getting a pedi and gel fill. The staff was so friendly and so were the customers. going to leave a detailed real review because I question the validity of some of these past reviews. I went in today, 7/5/18 around 6:00 pm. There were people in front of me and people actively being helped. However, they got me in very quickly. After spending an agregious amount of time choosing a color, I sat down for two minutes when whom I assume was the manager/owner ushered me over. I came in for a manicure and shellac fill. She soaked my nails in the acetone/foil and proceeded to get the tool the scrape the old color. She grabbed a tool on the table next to her that I had just watched her use on someone else. There was also said persons old polish on it. (Strike one.) I asked her to get a new one please. She argued for a second said "it's just for scraping", slapped it down and got up to get a new one. Fastforward to the hangnail clipping process. Call me tedious but I don't think it's too much to ask to use new utensils. I've been to nail salons that unwrap the new utensils right in front of you. I love that. I can be germaphobic but I've also never had staph infection for aforementioned reason. Anyway the clipper also looked used. (Strike two.) I could have been wrong but I asked her to get a new one anyway. After slamming that one down and huffing and puffing, I noticed the one she brought back did not look used. I had done my fair share of bitching at this point.. she then did her side of the work while being on and off FaceTime phone calls. She was speaking mandarin the entire time. I don't really mind this though. Small talk makes me uncomfortable. That doesn't mean it wasn't extremely unprofessional. The color I chose was a mostly beige very very very pale pink. I. Am. Not. A. Pink. Person. However, the color that is currently on my nails might as well be hot pink. Like I said I had done my fair share of bitching, but of course now I'm regretting not saying something. I've rated two stars because she did do a good job on the hangnail clipping/cutical part of the process. Which is important to me. I don't know what the "manicure" part of what I paid for was.. but that's beside the point. I won't be back. Just know what you're getting with this place. The prices are cheap.. but you could leave with staph infection. read more

I give this place a solid 3 stars!!!! Their spa pedicure is awesome. The quality of it however depends on the nail tech! I called to see if they had time for me to stop in and they said yes, I asked the price of the pedicure and she said 25 and includes wax and hot stone. $25 for wax and hot stone! I'm in! I get there and pick my polish and sit down. The nail tech I had was just there to do her job but not so much into the quality of her work. The wax was great and the hot stone massage was good too. When painting my toes she literally just put the paint on. It was so sloppy, so so sloppy. It looked like a child did it. She walked me over to the dryer so I could sit and let me toes dry. I started to get ready to go when another tech came to make sure my toes were dry. When she bent down and looked at my toes she obviously didn't like what she saw because she went and got the same polish and painted my toes a little more to get it to be more even and not so sloppy. I appreciated that it means that they pay attention. I may try them out again but certainly not the same nail tech. read more

This is the first time I've ever had a bad manicure from here and also my last... the polish is bubbly and over the cuticle. I am very picky and a perfectionist when it comes to my nails, and Lovely Nails fit all of my needs wonderfully... until today. I first asked the manicurist to redo my my thumbs because they were REALLY misshapen. When I wanted her to redo my thumbs she acted oblivious, and her response was saying it was my nail and that nothing was wrong. She then fixed it with an attitude, only after another customer agreed with me. After more examination while I was in the spa chair getting a pedicure, I realized how terrible my manicure actually was (there was a mass of polish making my nails look like bubbles, also coming over the cuticle and polish all over my hand. I'm used to clean lines like the deep red picture I posted). So before paying I simply asked if I could come back tomorrow to get them re-painted, showing her previous pictures of manicures that I had gotten there that were amazing (done by a different manicurist)! She truly saw the differences and so had other customers, but she refused to allow me to come back and get my nails repainted. I suggested tomorrow instead of tonight because they were busy. She said no, if you come back tomorrow you'll have to pay again. I then told her that my manicure is not done the way I wanted and I know you guys do much better, I also said I can wait today to get them repainted. She said if you had a problem you should of told me when I redid your thumbs, and that I'll still have to pay. I HADN'T EVEN LEFT THE SHOP!! THIS PLACE HAS NO REGARD FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. I come here on a regular basis, and usually get my nails done by the same amazing lady. I thought I had found a great shop. They have literally a couple great manicurists (3 manicurists total in the shop) and they're pedicures are great. But the customer service is WACK! And the manager is an a**hole... She is the one who did my nails. Negative people do bad jobs, I guess I should've caught on to that earlier. I mean, at any other nail shop if I say that there's any sort of issue, wether they see it or not they'll fix it right away until the customer sees it to their liking, NOT HERE. If I'm putting my hard earned money into your business, the least you can do is a good job, minus the attitude. There should honestly be NO bad jobs in the field of cosmetology. I guess I'll have to sacrifice a bit more money for better service. I'm scraping this off tonight... I am no longer a customer here, so it's time to hunt for a new spot. I work right next door. Run as fast as you can to another nail place. Jenny no pun intended is a bitch... I had been there 3 times loved my nails then my lady was gone Jenny did my fill was 45 with tip cause (I do the UV Polish with french tips) I had nails for two weeks that looked better then when Jenny did them...I went back next day and this whatever you call her had nerve to act like it was my fault. The other lady had to do my nails all over.. I have nerve damage in my hands so I was in pain for days after this two days fiasco ... Now I pay 45 every 3 weeks. I have been going to this place for years(when men only worked there) I went to get my usual brow wax & I asked her to take a little more off because it looked like she just cleaned up a few hairs. She argued with me that the wax would burn me. I think she was just being lazy, she ended up doing what I asked (payed) for and she waxed off all of my eyebrows but a line. I will never go here again !! She even laughed a bit when I looked in the mirror. I used to love this place but the last 3 times I've come here I have had a 30 minutes or longer wait time and no puttiing my feet in water for a half hour isn't going to work it's still considered waiting, so that's a one hour wait people, I'm flexible but this is beyond flexible. I will have to find a new place for my pedicures. To top it off I always tip, so I'm flexible and I tip but I'm waiting forever. One out of the three long long wait times there were two customers here so I didn't understand why I had to wait so long. The BEST pedicure EVER. I sat in the massage chair and warm water for 10 minutes before starting. They add a scrub, some hot stones, and paraffin wax- all for the same price. This amazing pedi was only $20. I added a basic mani, which they did while I sat in the massage chair. I got to let my nails dry... In the massage chair. Awesome! They are so nice and incredibly priced. Warning- this is a no-rush place. I personally loved that, but others might not. They take their time and they make sure everyone gets their time in the sun.
