Combo Platter
Evelyn H.

This was a family night out. I went really excited because I know fish camps fry most of their food. Since I've never eaten there, figured I would get the combo plate to try all they offer and narrow down to what I like. Y'all... this is what I got! A big ole' bunch of er-thang. Hard part was, I liked it all and couldn't narrow down tonone fav. If I had to eliminate one thing, it would be the fries. Not because they weren't good (dipped them in malt vinegar) but because I don't really eat fries. There is no place else you can go in Charlotte and get such a healthy serving for $23. Just make sure you combo it. My stepdaughter ordered only chicken tenders and got a big box of chicken tenders. I'm sure she'll be eating them thru next week

Senior plate, receipt!

Not Happy that I had to pay $.50 for salt and pepper on "salt and pepper"catfish fillet! Substituted a salad for my slaw & was charged a dollar for brown salad. And just know that you will be charged a percentage for using a card to pay with. Next time put a sign out that there is a charge for the salt and pepper on your fish and a percentage charged for using a card instead of cash.

Food was really good for not being costal. Portions are extremely generous. 10/10 recommend

3 combo plate must have weighed 4 lbs. Fried flounder, sweet "green tailed" shrimp, calabash shrimp, fried okra

Delectable fried shrimp and flounder in generous portions. There will be more than enough for two to share and still have leftovers.

Whiting small size plate. Flavorful, but I wish I hadn't seen the cooks frying fish without a mask!

A more apt name would be Love's Grease Box. I guess you'd like it if you weigh about 400 lbs and want to have a heart attack.

My favorites are the salt and pepper catfish filet, green shrimp, and broiled chicken tenders. Love this place! Has nice room for dining in.

Baked potato was done to a turn. Butter and sour cream was on table in abundance and convenience! Shrimp was cooked perfectly. Beautiful light golden brown! Best I have had in years. I ordered a small and got 9 butterflied shrimp! Everything appears clean and cared for with the exception of the entrance doors which need replacement and are well weathered. One other observation. The sign next to the entrance is not designed well. It is hard to see and is camouflaged into the background vegetation. A more modern sign with some "pop" may draw attention to this restaurant and German architecture!

Service was prompt and was consistent throughout the meal. Drinks were delivered quickly with hush puppies, which were excellent! Didn't have to wait long for main meal. My wife had flounder and sweet potato, which she liked very much and they had brown sugar for her sweet potato! She really appreciated that because most places do not have brown sugar. My meal was excellent! I had fantail shrimp, although they were actually butterflied shrimp, and they were prepared great. Soft, tender and cooked to a perfect gold color. Best I have had in a long time. Baked potato was cooked well and I like that the butter and sour cream is in a basket on the table so you don't have to beg waiter for more! I'll be back!

Parking can be a little tight when busy…read more Orders are taken immediately after entering, using a large menu board behind the hostess's stand. There is little time to consider the choices when busy, and locals who know what they want proceed quickly, first timers may end up rushing their order and choose poorly. Payment is taken at a separate counter, and tips are solicited before you have received your food. Avoid choosing a table near the exit as it can be drafty and has lots of foot traffic. Drink cups are provided for self serv beverages. Food is delivered hot and fresh from the kitchen. There is a large variety of primarily fried seafood choices, with mostly fries and slaw for sides; baked potatoes don't seem to be offered. Entrees are offered in small and large sizes, and portions are large, with mounds of fish, fries and hush puppies on each plate. The dining area can be crowded and noisy, especially when returning for refills to the busy drink dispensers. If you need a to-go box, you will find them there. Overall, this bustling restaurant offers large portions in return for minimum service. Entrees are in the $15 -$20 range despite the do-it-yourself nature of the dining room. If you want table service this is not your place!

They are family owned and cater to Cleveland County families and more (surrounding areas). It's a great place to take the family. Kelly's is child friendly and even has a children's menu. They also have a Seniors menu. They only have fried food though. No baked seafood nor baked potatoes. I would love to see broiled entree's and wouldn't mind paying a little over the fried food prices. As long as it wasn't doubled! LOL! So try them out. You'll love the results! :-) Their slaw is so scrumptious and their hush puppies are to die for. They also have fried pickles and fried chicken. Which my husband loves. But he also loves their fish! Cleveland County is known for their BBQ (Red Bridges BBQ and Alston's (Bridges BBQ) but our Seafood is made just as famous by Kelly's Seafood.

Last week, I found myself in western North Carolina, just outside of Charlotte, for a running event…read morein Gastonia. That said, my hotel and dining radius leaned more toward Kings Mountain, NC, so that's where this story actually takes place. I arrived a bit early, checked into the hotel, swung by the venue to grab my packet, chatted with a few fellow runners, and then the most important question of the evening came up. Where are we eating? After a little web surfing, I landed on a spot called 238 Cherokee Grill. It was conveniently located near both the venue and the hotel, which immediately put it in the lead. My friend Jeff and I pointed ourselves in that direction. It was a Friday night, and the place was buzzing. We were told there would be about a 10-minute wait for a table. That slowly stretched into more like 15 to 20 minutes, but when two seats opened up at the bar, we made a quick executive decision and grabbed them. The bartender checked in fairly quickly, despite being clearly slammed. Once we had their attention, we ordered right away to keep things moving. I went with the classic burger, upgraded with lettuce, mushrooms, grilled onions, and a side of fries, ordered medium. Jeff went with the Smothered Chicken. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time, and everything hit the bar hot. The burger leaned a little more medium-rare than medium, which honestly worked in my favor. Good flavor, solid burger. The fries were hot and crispy, exactly how I wanted them after a day of travel and packet pickup. No complaints from either of us. Portions were solid, and the prices felt fair for what you get. The only real downside was that initial wait. There isn't much of an entryway to hang out in, and with the cold weather outside, that part wasn't exactly comfortable. That said, the staff was friendly, the service was solid, and the overall experience was a win. Would I go back if I'm in the area again? Yep. The menu had a few other things that caught my eye, and I'd happily give them a shot next time.

I ordered the vegetable quesadilla which came out very hot and was plentiful. The server was attentive, and the food came out very quickly, even though there were several guests there. Hidden Gem Stopped…read morein after realizing the new Catawba Two Kings Casino still has limited food options. Found this spot online, open on a Sunday evening, and decided to give it a try. It was packed just after 7 PM, but I was seated immediately. Drinks hit the table within minutes -- super efficient. The menu is huge, and they carry all the Asian beers (Sapporo, Kirin, etc.), which was a nice surprise. I ordered the crab Rangoon, Thai fried rice, and the shrimp teriyaki plate. Everything came out piping hot and incredibly fresh -- you can taste the difference here. Portions were solid, flavors were on point, and nothing felt rushed or sloppy. Service is a 10/10. You can feel the family vibe -- everyone working together in harmony, smooth, friendly, and the place is clean with good energy. Highly recommend. I'll be back on the next casino run

It was on a Sunday at lunchtime and it wasn't busy, just one large table of about six people. The restaurant is a small but cute and clean. We sat down and we both got water and our waitress brought them right away and also brought us out some ginger soup. I ordered the Taste of Thai mixed appetizer and my husband ordered the hibachi chicken. Our food came out fairly quickly and everything was very good. The reason I am giving it one star is because after we looked at our bank statement two days later we realize that they had added on an extra $24.78 to the tip after the fact. Our total bill was $28.25. My husband left a tip of $8.75 (Over 30%) bringing our total that we paid to $37.00 but they charged us $61.78. I have added a photo of the price of our food from their website and also a screenshot of our bank app showing the $61.78 charge and the $24.78 reimbursement. The food is good, but the integrity here is not, so we will not be back.
