I don't know who the tweaker living in the house on the right is (says he's the owner of this business) but he threatened my family with a bat! My family and I pulled into his parking lot so I could walk my son across the street because he was in the baseball parade for portage. My wife was gonna hope in the driver side and drive down to the other end where my daughters team will be. this guy comes out the house scream we can't park here. I said we aren't and tried to explain what was actually happening he's telling me (in front of my son) to get the F out of here. Again I'm trying to de-escalate. his dog run as starts harassing my 2 year old in the car cause the door is still wide open from my son climbing out finally after my wife gets in the driver side I'm trying to get my son across the busy street to get him away and to his group. once I knew he was ok and in good hands I return to see this guy threating my wife with a baseball bat. the coaches had to stop me from going across the street after him. my wife pulled off safely and the cops were called. filed a report and got witness testimonies. If this is how this business handles a simple miscommunication I wouldn't want them anywhere near my property. read more

We have used Loving's for many years and we have always tried to stay local. We waited a week for the air conditioning service and when the cranky technician came out, he told us they couldn't do anything for us, nor would he even give me an estimate, for a new unit. He claimed they are very far behind. But they did charge us $89 to tell us that. I think this was wrong since they knew the history of the unit. If they would've shared it with us last week when I made the original call, we could've saved ourselves $89 plus a week of waiting during this recent hot spell. Very poor service by the company and the technician. Don't bother calling them. You will pay them to do nothing. read more

If I can give them less than one steroid we have a $3000 Scotsman icemaker, Under counter, less than a year old stops working, basically we installed it and it never worked correctly I wanted them to come out and service it being that we purchase it during Covid it's been sitting for a year, Tom repairman refuse to even come out and look at it I hope their business as well. read more

Get conflicting prices from the office and the technician. Tech charges more on the job than what the office quotes. When you call to discuss, manager will not call back. You must call back several times to talk to manager and they are very unhelpful and very very unfriendly. They charge different amounts and have had this issue several different times. Please avoid this company and go somewhere else!!! Save yourself time, money, and respect. Would give 0 stars if possible!!!!! I have used lovings on two separate occasions. The first time was to replace my hot water heater. The second time was for a Furnace Cleaning. Each time they sent the same repairman even though I asked for someone else. Both instances, replacing thehot water heater and cleaning my furnace, I had to have the repairman return because of work to fix the repairs that he had made. The work is sloppy and unprofessional. I'm only giving this company and the way the owner practices business 1 star because it would not let me rate it 0 stars. For starters, a repair technician came to my house on a Thursday and said I needed a certain part to fix the problem with my water heater. He ordered the part and installed it on a Friday evening. I woke up at 5 am the next morning to get ready for work, jumped in the shower and noticed the water was still only lukewarm which was the initial problem. I am a nurse, and my shift that Saturday was extra long and I didn't get home until about 9 PM that night. I noticed again that the water was not getting warm but was drained and had to work the next day another 12 hour shift so I knew I would address the issue when I got home from work Sunday evening. I woke up Sunday and annoyingly took another cold shower. I also noticed I had a really odd feeling headache that stayed with me all day. I went to work and returned home at about 8:30 pm, and smelled gas when I entered the foyer. My daughter was home in her room and I called down to her and told her I smelled gas and she said she did too. I immediately called the on-call number for lovings heating and cooling. I let the technician on call know my concern, and after much frustration trying to communicate with him, I ended up looking on you-tube for how to shut off my gas supply. I then called Nipsco's emergency number. My daughter and I and our pets evacuated the house as we were instructed to do. Upon arrival the Nipsco technician noted that there was a leak coming from the part that Lovings had replaced, a 5% gas leak..which is considered lethal! I was extremely upset to say the least. The next day, which is today, lovings sent a technician out whom informed me that the part that the previous technician installed wouldn't have fixed my initial problem anyway... I was told the part that I needed that would ACTUALLY fix the problem would be another $378 even though I had already paid $414 for the part that didn't fix the problem, also there was an $89 service call fee. The costs were mounting and the technician told me that I was nearing the cost of just replacing the whole unit. I had been without hot water for 4 days and had been exposed to a gas leak for 2 of those days. I felt stressed desperate like I just needed it fixed. The technician told me he could get a unit installed today so I opted for that. That guy left and two different workers from the company came and removed my old water heater and replaced it with a new one. I asked them what the cost was and they said they didn't know, they didn't have a ticket. After the unit was installed I asked to speak with the owner/manager to express my concerns with him and also understandably discuss the costs considering the circumstances. I expressed that the error the technician made could have been fatal..literally! His response was.."he's human we all make mistakes!" I couldn't believe his flippant and defensive attitude not to mention his tone. My father was at my house and expressed his concern to Mike Lovings who hung up on him. Within minutes of that phone call Mike lovings withdrew $1375 from my account without my consent. I did not see an invoice nor a receipt, nor did I sign anything allowing him to withdraw that amount from my personal checking account. Ultimately it was a horrible experience and the owner of lovings heating and cooling, Mike Loving is not a nice man or an honest business owner. I will continue to dispute this charge. read more

I have used Lovings in the past and my family has used them loyally. I own a rental property with a boiler from 1906. It is working just not working right. I explained to the girl on the phone I am not in the market for a new boiler. This one is very old and needs repair. They sent their technician out and he proceeded to tell me "This is older than the owner of our company" "We couldn't even get parts for this." "You need a new boiler" now I am being charged $149 for what I essentially explained I didn't want and that was a sales pitch for a new system. No troubleshooting, no research just them intimidated by my big old Boiler. No interest in finding out what is the cause. I am highly disappointed. I wasn't worth their time. read more

Horrible. I bought furnace and air from them .. Just threw it in and I had hoses across my furnace to a window in my basement . Didn't replace a hose in back of my old furnace that I could not see and cost 10 bucks. Let me know and I would have paid for the hose to be replaced. Long story short flooded my basement. Brought in a portable A/C unit, explained we were having issues with it needing to be emptied every other day. Up to now it would last almost all season without emptying. After one week I didn't hear anything so I called. I was told , "the other guy needs to look at it too". Got a call from who apparently was the other guy, Tom. He said. "I've had it plugged in for 3 hours and it cools great". Told him cooling was not the issue, explained again why we brought it in and stated it may need to be cleaned or a float or something. Within 1 minute I got another call saying my unit was ready to pick up to the tune of $50, (plus tax). I asked if they took it apart and cleaned it and she said I don't know and again told me it was working fine. Went to pick up and gave them 1 last chance to make it right. Told them I wasn't happy that they charged me $50 to plug it in only. She could have cared less. Went to load it in my car,(by myself), and it was full of water so they didn't even drain it. Got it home to drain and pulled the filter off, and that too was never touched. What a joke. Shame on you for taking advantage of people. Should have read all these bad reviews They took others for more money than me. Lesson learned. read more

Very poor service. A 'Techincian' came out, was impatience and condescending. Proceeded to look at our heater after asking if we'd been replacing the filters. He returned with bad news. He couldn't touch the unit because it was so hot, flames where going everywhere inside the unit. Also, he was surprised we didn't have headache due to carbon monoxide poisoning. Said we needed and new furnace, $3,800.00. This 'Technician' Robert couldn't wait to leave as he had another appointment before his day was done. Wrote some notes on our $90.00 bill which we couldn't read. So last night we're hoping the house wouldn't catch on fire or that we wouldn't suffocate. Called the owner of Loves Heating and Cooling, gave the story and all we got was excuses. "Robert is only a driver" "Robert has MS" "Robert shouldn't be quoting prices' "Robert is not a technician" Loves, I don't see a bright future for you. You expect to get paid for sending an unfortified 'Driver' to our house and bill nearly $100.00, This is gouging if I've seen it. This is when a lot of units fail and Lovings is not showing any love except for the almighty $$$. Will never call this vendor again and will recommend to friends and family to avoid at all costs. I had called Lovings because my electric hot water heater was tripping the breaker and told them that it was a Whirlpool heater and that I thought the heating element was bad. They told me that they could have a serviceman out that day after 4pm. When he arrived right away he said that they did not have parts for Whirlpool heaters. I told the serviceman that it was probably the bottom heating element. He check it with an ohm meter and charge $89. Told me I could get the parts myself and then they would come back and replace the element for about another $100. When I called the office the next day I was told that they do not carry Whirlpool parts and they were not able to get them. Then why send a serviceman, to charge the $89 I guess and get no repair. Just felt ripped off and still have a bad water heater. read more

I was house sitting for a family member when there furnace stopped working. I called Lovings because they were the closest Armstrong dealer at 11:00am. They sent a repair man out pretty fast he said it was a dirty filter and removed it and left. I had to call them back in 1 hour because the problem reoccured. This time he replaced the igniter assembly and some kind of overheat relay then left. Three hours later(6:30pm) I returned to the house to find the furnace was not working. I called them for the third time a different repair man showed up at 9:30pm and replaced the gas valve, this fixed the problem, total cost $589.00($289 of parts and service call that did not fix the problem) read more

Quoted and installed an undersized A/C unit for Portage Missionary Baptist Church. Installed an A/C that barely keeps the area cooled in the heat of summer when no one is in the building, let alone when we fill it to capacity with 140 people. I spoke to Mr. Lovings personally about my concern. His "out" was referencing that the church was only running 20 in attendance at the time the unit was installed. So he estimated the size of the A/C unit from that information. Needless to say, that is a poor way to operate. Quotes ought to be based on occupancy, not attendance. We have grown significantly over the years and now have to go back and redo the project that should have been made right back in 2012. We do not recommend Lovings Heating and Cooling ... especially if you are a small business/church. We are now dearly paying for the mistake of using Lovings heating and cooling. As you could imagine resources are not easy to come by in a smaller church and our nearly $10,000 spent on an undersized unit will soon to be pitched so we can heat and cool our space adequately. read more

My family used Lovings Appliance Repair service in April of 2017 for our refrigerator that wasn't cooling while our freezer did work. They sent their only repair technician who happen to be the biggest idiot we've ever seen in appliance repair. He RIPPED the back panel off our freezer, said he was going to by-pass the defrost thermostat (which was said to be the problem), quoted us a price of $120, then later said he REPLACED that thermostat, and upped the bill to $217. Meanwhile he lost a screw to the back freezer panel & put it all back together like it was no big deal. Within a month the freezer iced up like it had never iced up before. Then come September, only 5 months later, I called Lovings to resolve the issue & they basically told me we were screwed. They said they only have that 1 repair technician, who I wouldn't trust to run a lemonade stand, & told me b/c it's been 5 months I would have to pay for the service visit, parts & labor, & use the same tech who screwed us over in the 1st place. Lovings Appliance Repair obviously doesn't stand by their work, their technician, or offer any guarantee that they will actually FIX the problem. Lovings does NOT care about their customers; only about getting money out of your wallet! By the way, my fridge isn't working again! read more

Poor quality workmanship..don't stand behind work. Used for years for numerous furnace and a/c tune ups / repairs etc..no longer! Do not accept service from Robert especially - consistently problematic and complains. Installed a Nest thermostat incorrectly (hours to install complaining entire time..came out 2x as furnace was not working in winter!) damaging my furnace as it ran continuously for a month - had to have nest come out to install correctly (only 20 minutes to install correctly..come on loving's! Really? If you're not trained to do a job, don't make an appointment!) Nest tech said was installed incorrectly by Loving's (Robert) and that they should not do installs if they don't have knowledge base or correct training. - I complained- no follow up from owners for months until I didn't pay bill even though called and emailed. Finally owner offered to have me pay 1/2 of bill (for hours of my wasted time, damage to my furnace and improper install work quality and Roberts arguing and complaining? Why??). I declined their unprofessional offer and have yet to receive another email reply (sent 3 emails to trying to rectify this issue) just gave up! Do yourself a big favor - Use a company who values customers and has employees who are trained correctly. read more

I called this company to look at a furnace in a rental house I own in Miller. I called the tenants and asked if the repairman has showed up. The replied that he was there and he was working on the furnace, They put the repairman on the phone, He began screaming at me as if I was his step child! He said he just got there and was working on it. I told him he was to call me first so I could approve the repairs. He continued to tell me the furnace was 40 years old and I needed a new furnace! In the meantime the charges were $128 for him to light the pilot and to clean one burner. If I needed a new furnace why did he do other work on it? I called his office to get an estimate for a new furnace and waited at least 5 days. I called them back to get the estimate. The female who answered the phone put a man on the phone who have NEVER seen the furnace and gave me a quote of $2,100. He asked if the house had central air and when I said yes he quickly replied that the coil should be changed on that too. He said if the air conditioner broke they would have to take out the furnace to replace the air conditioner. When I complained that the furnace was still not working they sent another repairman who said for $189.00 he could take the furnace apart and clean it to see is the heating element was cracked or broken. Maybe the first repairman they sent should have thought about this. Sounds like a very shady company to me! read more

I needed to have my furnace cleaned and called Lovings Heating and A/C. When the service guy came out he told me it was dirty and that he cleaned the spark igniter, burners and flame sensor he was here for approx. 30 to 40 minutes. They charged me $287.00!! I couldn't believe it, a cleaning should cost between $59.00 - 89.00 tops! So I called them again and was told by their receptionist that it wasn't a "normal cleaning" and that it took longer! So I called 6 other companies in the area and asked them what they charge for the same service I received and All Six told me I was "ripped off" one even said to be charged that much it would have included taking out the fan, cleaning it at the car wash and spending 2-3 hours time! I will NEVER use them again obviously, and I advise others to call around, there ARE professional and Honest companies in Northwest IN! I just found this one instead! read more
