I cannot handle it. This place is insane!! I have never had a food experience quite like this before, but I suppose there is a first time for everything. I ate an absolutely fantastic kale salad. It was wild! It was like raw kale injected with fresh guacamole, and it was incredible! I also ordered the tostada which was even more insane than the kale salad! It was a literal explosion of flavors in my mouth. It was actually too much stimulation that I couldn't handle it and had to quit eating it. I 'm not kidding. I'm not sure what all was going on with the tostada, but it was overwhelming. It was great, but too much stimulation. I cannot think of a time in which my taste buds were just over stimulated. I could only eat a little bit. As a result, I ended up leaving a great amount of it on the plate. The owner came over and asked me if I was pleased with it. I explained the dish was excellent, I was just simply could not eat anymore. Ok, the vibe. Aunk wearing people with dreads live here. They open at 2pm so by the time I got lost and found the place, they were just opening. Make sure you're prepared for culture when you come here. It's like going to someones house really. Really cozy if you sit by a window. The owner told me bands come to practice here sometime. He thinks it's a great way for bands to play pro bono. While this sounds very clever, this idea would only work in a restaurant setting if the band was prepped and ready for a full dress rehearsal, ie, just one performance away from the real thing. However, this band was not anywhere close to dress rehearsal status. So what I experienced was a very rough draft of a final performance. Needless to say, I was not blown away by the band. It was actually quite too large a sound in a small space, but there was no shortage of entertainment. Prices are a little on the heavy side, but once you experience, you'll know why. Everything from this place is phenomenal. I went with my mom, who surprised me by finding a raw vegan restaurant within 2 miles of my airbnb. We went for dinner on Friday and were greeted immediately and warmly by our waiter. I got the collard wraps and tostada; my mom got the sweet and sour veggies; and we shared a slice of the strawberry pie. The collard wraps have an amazing assembly of raw vegetables inside with a curry-type flavored nut meat. They are beautiful, filling, and perfectly seasoned. The leaves were tender and fresh. My mother was quiet when she got her dish, leaving me a bit concerned. She is familiar with and eats vegan cooked food and plenty of salads and fruit. However, the wild rice and raw veggies were a new experience. Apparently she wasn't talkative because she didn't want to stop eating her dish ! We found it hard to figure out exactly what the sweet and sour sauce had in it, but trust us - try it! The flax tortilla part of the tostada was delicious in and of itself, not too hard that it was difficult to eat or stuck to the roof of your mouth. The flavors of the tomatoes, sage crumbles, pine nut cheese perfectly blended together. Needless to say, I devoured the whole thing. The strawberry pie was fresh and healthy yet rich enough to feel decadent. I appreciated the flavors of the strawberries and nut crust without any agave added. I'm on a strict raw food protocol for a while, due to health reasons. This restaurant was recommended to me by a vegan chef and it did not disappoint. This was absolutely delicious and although it took a little while than a typical restaurant to get the orders to our table it was worth the wait. It's a small, cozy place in the server. I love this place!!! My boyfriend took me here for date night and we were both soooo excited for all of the delicious options they had available! They have a completely plant based menu. We're both vegan so we're like kids in a candy shop, but even if you aren't vegan, YOU'LL STILL LOVE THIS FOOD. It tasted so good. We had some kind of collard wrap veggie rolls for an appetizer. I really wanted to love this place, but my experience overall was horrible. We showed up when they were supposed to open, and they were about 10 minutes late opening up- not a big deal. The woman working the front of the restaurant really took her time in getting to us. When we reviewed the menu we saw it takes about 25 minutes to prepare meals. We were really hungry, so we decided to put our orders in and go down the street to get a smoothie, figuring the food would be ready by the time we came back. Wrong. We came back about 20 minutes later and we sat, and sat, and sat.... from the time we came back to the restaurant it took about 40 minutes just to get our salads out. We didn't get our entrees until around 2:45pm (we had originally arrived at 1pm!). We literally watched them serve EVERYONE else but us, even people who had showed up AFTER we got back. Taking this long to make food and serving your 1st customers last is just not acceptable. Concerning food quality, the salad was very salty. The lentil burger was decent. The lasagna was a bit salty and had a lot of oil. Overall food quality was decent but the portions were very small in relation to the prices. It cost $50 for the 2 of us to eat lunch. For this cost we could have gone to an upscale buffet brunch and the experience would have been 10 times better. read more

Most of the ingredients are organic and locally grown. Everything is scratch made. We ordered the Nachos, the Vitality Soup and the Stuffed Avocados. The soup was quite amazing, and although it looked like a smoothie in a bowl, the taste was earthy, frothy, yet refreshingly light. It arrived with house made flax crackers which were delish. The Nachos consisted of a large mound of guacamole with house made pine nut cheese and tomato sauce. The guacamole was tangy, fresh and surrounded by sage and cilantro burger crumbles. My assistant enjoyed the stuffed avos which were perfectly ripened and topped with a house made nutmeat, bell peppers, and fresh pico de Gallo. Great vegan food, and clean too! Overpriced and disappointing. I arrived because I was craving their lemonade. They only made one drink that day, and it was gone before 5:30 pm. So, I could order food but no drink, since they didn't offer water or tea or any fountain drinks. After I ordered, it took an hour and 10 minutes to receive my food. I ordered a portobello mushroom sandwich, and when I received it, it consisted of two tiny slivers of sliced mushroom - not the large cap that one normally expects when getting a sandwich with "mushroom" in the name. It was more like a cucumber and onion sandwich. The other food I ordered was good (cabbage boat, nori wrap, and collard wrap), but they all tasted pretty much the same because they all have the same ingredients: nutmeat, avocado, tomato, and greens. Delicious the food is always fresh...I'm not sure if there are different chefs but the consistency of the recipes change often. My beloved purchased a mushroom steak with forbidden rice and for the first time I didn't eat it due to the way it taste. Not 1 drop of salt and it tasted like they took the mushrooms out of the box tossed it in Olive oil basil and oregano. Other times it is seasoned so good so I'm not sure what happened this time. I ended up putting some veganaise and veggies to it and making a veggie salad because I didn't want to waste it. I added PLENTY of salt to it to because it had none before. As a long time vegan (like, I've been meat free longer than I've had ta-ta's) this place did weird me out- raw food? Will I be munching cold veggies and seeds or something? Not at all, in fact, the waitress told us not to order as much as we wanted because it is very filling... I had to fight kicking V under the table and snorting. She wasn't wrong, we were stuffed half way through our tostados and I took home the last piece of the nori roll appetizer because we were about to explode. This is one of the hardest dining experiences I have been faced with. The food is beyond great, BUT - event though I was among some of the first regular patrons of this restaurant, and I go on a regular enough basis when I am in Atlanta, I am often greeted and treated like a total stranger. The owner is nice enough, and a calm and pleasant spirit, but she acts like she has never seen me before at times. It's not like my appearance changes drastically from visit to visit. Most every other place where I dine on a regular basis, the owner, manager or hostess greet and acknowledge me as one would expect a regular. It's just nice when you take a client to taste this awesome food you've been bragging about, to get some sort of warm reception, especially considering how much these dishes cost and the trouble it takes to get there. The Food - Just about everything I've had here has been exceptional in presentation and flavor. The only caveat is if you are sensitive to garlic or onions, you may ask to have the "chef" lighten up as some flavors may be too intense for the uninitiated. I'm not sure where or how they come up with the dishes. It is truly amazing how well thought out and prepared each dish is and how filling and satisfied you will feel eating food that has not lost nutrients, flavor, etc., from the cooking process. The Restaurant - 90% of the time, I do carry out because it seems the dine in process is soooo slow and does not add to the experience. I have never seen the place dirty, but the menus may be a bit worn and soiled and there is nothing warm or inviting about the dining area. There is just no special kind of ambiance that can easily be created with a few well-place decorations, plants, furnishings, lighting, wall art, etc. Service - It is not consistently good or bad. It SHOULD be consistently exceptional. Also, it would be nice to know if the credit card machine is working BEFORE you order. I've had to run around the corner to the bank to get cash when it's down. You have to make a trek to get to this place and parking is not ample or easy. I've risked getting a ticket at the handicap space directly across the street just to get my raw fix. The owners/manager have been around long enough at this point to have heeded some of the advice about upping the service, ambiance, etc to the same level as the food. Maybe they are too comfortable knowing that there is not a raw restaurant within hundreds of miles that can touch or surpass the food and just don't give a shyt. read more

This was one of the worst dining experiences I have had in the 11 years I have lived in Atlanta. We came at 3pm on a Sunday afternoon. There were a few people in the restaurant, but it was not crowded by a long-shot. There was, however, just one woman working the front. The service was awful. We ordered relatively quickly after we all got there. The woman who served us was not particularly friendly, but not really mean, either. The vibe she gave off was one of indifference. 15 minutes later, after a direct request, we were offered water (about an ounce or two each). While ordering, we found they were out of 1/2 of the things on the menu - they either did not have the items in stock, or they hadn't finished fixing the crackers yet. They did not have most of the drinks (including lemonade). We did order juice (apple/strawberry), but never saw it. Here's a tip to the owners - if you have a menu that varies day to day, either put it on a big board so that people don't waste their time deciding on food options that aren't available, or else come up with a way to create a new menu you hand out every day. The restaurant itself was very uncomfortable. Everyone was really quiet, and when we first got there, there was no music on - they did turn some music on a little later, which made the place a little less awkward. You could tell a lot of people were just sitting around waiting to get their checks so they could leave. After about 45 minutes, salad came out for the people in our group who had ordered that. We were completely ignored after that, though, and the salad plates were never cleared. No more water (they only half-filled the glass in the first place) was offered to us. The one time someone requested more water, he was greeted with an eye-roll (although she did serve another round of an ounce of lukewarm water each). After 1.5 hours with no entrees, we decided to leave. We paid for the little food that had been brought out and left. Seriously one of the worst dining experiences ever. Recently had lunch here with a close (and attractive) friend as she is dabbling in Raw food and I am a Vegan 95% of the time. We were the only patrons. Service was basically friendly and they were playing "spa" music. They were out of two of the teas we wanted, so we randomly picked some kind of blend. The food, as promised, took a bit to come out. We had the Nubian Salad & the Tostado. I would probably give the food 4 strong stars - this was pretty tasty stuff considering the self imposed limitations on preparation. I can't quite put my finger on what was amiss. Being out of something always annoys me...and I get the high price structure for the food; but a $5 cup of "tea bag" tea bugged me a bit. For lunch, two teas, and a slice of sweet potato pie it came in at $54 before tip...a little steep. I am so glad I found a raw food restaurant right outside Atlanta even if it is a drive for me from Buckhead, but well worth it! I only had raw food at PURE in NYC and wanted my mom who is a vegetarian to have the experience. I was skeptical since PURE is amazing for gourmet raw food but Lov'n it did NOT DISAPPOINT!!! The kale salad is so good, the only thing I am bummed about was ordering the regular house salad instead of the kale after tasting my mom's. I was a bit bummed when I found out the shells for the nachos, tacos and tostada were out but we opted for the nuttloaf and pizza. They were both amazing, best word I can use to describe this food. I highly recommend everything we ate and for dessert we had the sweet potato pie and CAROB ICE CREAM! I can't remember the last time I had carob, that hasn't been made in many years by many distributors/companies. Anyway, only place vegetarian I think is worth it. I took the MERTA (train) to East Point where I had the pleasure to eat at THE only; organic, living, vegan restaurant in the state of Georgia called Lovin' It Live. The restaurant has a cozy feeling, as if you were eating at home or at a friend's house. When I sat down one woman was getting some juices to go and once I was almost finished with my meal, a couple was coming in so the restaurant was never loud or crowded. There is music playing softly in the background, a bar-like area to sit at, and tables. Lovin' It Live is located at 2796 East Point Street, and is about 5 minutes away from the East Point train stop on the red line. When I first entered I was interested in the special entrées and desserts they had for the day listed on a white board as soon as I walked in. But once I sat down and looked at the menu my mind completely changed on what I wanted to have. I decided on the Mushroom Steak entrée on top of Kale Salad. The Mushroom steak was thick strips of portabella mushrooms marinated in oil, red onion, and savory spices. I am almost certain I saw and tasted mustard seeds, and Cajun spices such as fennel seeds, cayenne, garlic, onion, paprika, salt, pepper, oregano and thyme. The kale salad consisted of green curly kale, tomatoes, avocado, onion, and a little bit of the spices that were also on the mushrooms. Over the dish was a red pepper sauce drizzle. I totally recommend this dish, it was super filling, savory, refreshing, and gave me the energy I need to stand the heat. I paid an extra fee for the kale salad; the original options were a green salad or rice. The total of the dish was $14.50, plus a tax for sitting in the restaurant on top of the sales tax. For the most part entrées are around $10-$15 and salads are roughly $8. If you are not familiar with the cost of raw food at restaurants this may sound expensive but this is actually the average price a raw main entrée costs. I think the "sitting in" tax makes this restaurant on the expensive side. If you ever have the pleasure of visiting Georgia stop by Lovin' It Live, but check their hours first online or give them a call (404-765-9220)! The restaurant does not open until 2pm and there is not much to do in this area to kill time, believe me I waited around 2 hours for the restaurant to open and just sat under a tree listening to music. I had the pleasure of speaking to the owner of Lovin' It Live during my visit and she was very calm, sweet, and honest. She informed me that everyday she goes to the market to buy produce and other ingredients. Everything is made fresh so it may take 20 minutes to be served (it didn't even take that much time when I went). One of their priorities is to buy as much local produce as possible, yay! Lovin' It Live also has fresh juices, moss drinks, soups, pizzas, appetizers, burgers, salads and desserts. Their use of seasonings has sparked my interest and I want to play around more with them in my own recipes. The dish tasted as if it were grilled, and the spices even gave me the feeling that the food was warm. The only negative things I have to say is that the restaurant was not very clean. Another problem was that the restaurant was only accepting cash that day but I was not informed until I had already ordered. Thankfully I had cash, just not enough to spoil myself like I had planned. But the great serve, fresh food, genuine smiles, and jazz music playing makes me want to forget the negatives and focus on the fact that this restaurant is doing something amazing for their community, environment and every person who comes in and out of their establishment. read more
