Despite the listing currently saying they are closed, that is incorrect! Although they have announced they will be closing and our server said November 8th would be their last day. (Edit on 10/20/25 per their social media they closed instead of being open until November). As you may know they are owned by popular next door restaurant High Roller Lobster. This space sounds like it will be transformed into more space for that business once they close. My wife and I haven't been back since around the opening and found ourselves having time to revisit one more time before they closed. We enjoyed our first visit and no complaints for this recent and last one either! They were missing some items, I suspect due to closing soon. Place was quite busy so we sat in the upper section in a large booth and grabbed some cocktails to start. I grabbed a Ring Of Fire and my wife got the Strawberry Bee's Knees. Both were well made drinks and a good start before our meal. We both decided to have their Snowboard Chicken which the menu explained were "Four Giant, Hand-Battered Chicken Tenders" with two sauces. They certainly were not exaggerating when they used the word giant! We would have been better off just sharing an order of it! The breading had tons of flavor and was well seasoned. Fries came out hot and were crispy and well seasoned too. Despite visiting only the two times my wife and I enjoyed this restaurant in all aspects. Had a great theming overall with nice decor and a great overall atmosphere. Friendly staff and tasty cocktails and food! Sucks to see this place go away because the friendly staff and the food were amazing. They have the same exact lobster roll that they do next door but there's no waiting an egregious amount of time to be seated. The environment and vibe was great. Immediately walking in the vibe of the place was so cool and down to earth. The hostess was extremely attentive and so great, chatted with us all the way to our table. Our server showed up with a great chill, happy vibe took our drink order and appetizer order. The timing between apps and our meal was perfection, we didn't feel rushed to finish our apps before our meal came out. The steaks were cooked to perfection and the cowboy butter OMG! Now the French fries, I don't know what they do to their French fries but they are the BEST French fries we have EVER had hands down anywhere, once you start eating them you can't stop! My sister and I popped in on a summer Sunday, without a reservation. We were asked if we'd be okay sitting at the bar, which we were. The red and black color scheme, paired with the fun animals and hunting theme delivers eye catching decor. Side note- If you make your way to the restroom you'll discover a fun black skull toilet. The bartender (blonde young lady) doubled as our waitress and was fantastic. I told her I was in the mood for a fruity cocktail. She asked what kind of drinks I normally like. When I told her cosmos or margaritas, she suggested that she should make a hybrid drink that she thought I'd enjoy. Indeed I did. We named it a CosmoRita. I don't know what she did to make it, but it was awesome! We got burnt ends as an app. They were okay, but not the best I've had. For our entrees, we got the bavette steak with a loaded baked potato and apple compote as well as a NY strip with mashed potato and asparagus. Both main dishes were delicious and the beef was cooked just as we asked. The steaks came out topped with a cowboy butter that melted all over. I loved that touch. I didn't know I needed Low Stakes Lodge in my life... but I do. Every new spot in Portland seems to be some variation of small plates New American... Low Stakes Lodge offers a new take by... emanating Bugaboo Creek? My husband and I popped in on a Thursday night with an hour before our show, and sat at the bar. The place was busy but not overly busy. What we had: Moosifer's Lament (cocktail) - delightful although beware charcoal Mocktail - they don't have mocktails on the menu but they mixed up one of the best ones my husband has had in Portland. Cheers to that. French onion soup - classic and delicious Wedge salad - also classic and delicious NY Strip with mashed potatoes and asparagus - soooo good. The butter on top of the steak was surreal. Portion is huge... you can definitely split it between two people (we did and have healthy appetites) Their house beer is $5, and the prices are honestly quite reasonable for the portion sizes and quality. Our total bill was $115 before tip, which is honestly hard to beat in Old Port anymore - and we were totally stuffed. Highly recommend, and I will be back! read more

Let me make this clear...I love the vibe of this restaurant. For a place to drink, this might be my favorite new opening of the year. It's great! But I can't let my 5 stars stand after trying the Lodge Burger. Put simply, it's the worst burger I've had in recent memory, anywhere. Where to even begin? A burger on "Texas Toast" is unusual for Portland, but not nationally. While this toast isn't thick, it still massively overpowers the relatively small burger. And if it was buttered, I didn't notice. It tasted like dry, white bread. When ordering, the bartender asked if I wanted the burger "Cooked all the way through, or a little bit of pink." This isn't a smash burger, and he's asking if I want a well done burger? I was so thrown off by the question, I said pink. The burger comes leaning to the "well" side of "medium well." Dry, flavorless, overcooked. There was one thin slice of limp bacon and some gruyere cheese. I forced myself to finish it. The fries are frozen Sysco variety. Low Stakes Lodge: It's bold to have multiple $50+ steaks on the menu when you can't cook a burger. First off I want to say if you are looking for a traditional steak house vibe, this isn't it. Still a super fun relaxed vibe just not traditional. Long bar and lots of tables with a talking moose on the wall. Overall very reasonable prices for food and drinks. We for the "blooming onion" thing and it was great. We also got the NY Ribeye which was great but not the best steak I have ever had. The bar tenders were very nice. Overall I would stop in for a drink and an app but if I want a traditional steak this wouldn't be my stop. read more

Yeehaw! One of Portlands most recent additions bringing a Western dive bar feel. They have Jell-O shots on the drink menu so ofc we had to try and they did not disappoint. They tasted just like apple sauce. Out of this world! If you're looking for an appetizer that will give you high cholesterol, I recommend the wedge salad. This salad doubles as a meal. Despite having a half a wedge of iceberg on the plate the dressing still manages to spawn into every crevice. Don't get me wrong, it was delicious but I prefer my lettuce above water rather than drowning. The French onion soup was traditional, hitting all the marks. Steak tips were fine, although, fries were the star of the show on that dish. They soaked up the grease from the steak and their truffle flavor hit just right with the side of mayo. We weren't all too hungry so so we do plan on returning to try out the big steaks! read more

This was a happy accident for me. I meant to go into the place next door but noticed I was in the "wrong" place after I had already ordered. And that ended up being a good thing. I ordered a lobster roll which was perfect. They ask if you want the lobster heated or chilled which was a nice touch. And then when it arrived, it came with fries which I was happy to see and the lobster roll was great. The roll was toasted perfectly, the lobster had more than just mayo to it and the seasoning was tasty. The lobster tasted very fresh and the surprise French fries were hot and crispy. Congrats on your Opening, Low Stakes Lodge! My husband and I stumbled upon this spot on their opening night totally by happenstance and as people who love a theme, this 'dive bar' was next level! With the same owners of High Roller Lobster, every detail was well thought out. I enjoyed a 'Low Stakes Logger' American IPA brewed by Belleflower Brewing exclusively for Low Stakes Lodge and my husband had their Espresso Martini on draft, both delicious! I also love that they offer macro beers in cans and bottles for under $5, where can you get a drink out that cheap these days?? We found them after dinner but we'll definitely go back for food next time! read more

The good: food and drinks were good - three of us, three different cocktails, steak tips, steak and cheese sandwich and roast beef sandwich (yes we were craving red meat last week). All of us very much enjoyed food - order the bread to start, super tasty homemade loaf with delicious honey butter. The bad: in area up a few stairs from entrance level, felt very much overlooked (and cold, very cold, in path of very effective a/c) - ordering took forever, drink order for me wrong first time, told waitress, said she'd be back, after 10 minutes I went to bar, bartender super friendly and immediately made right drink for me. Think waitress was busy, but when I say everything was very longgggg wait and we could not catch her eye for life of us. Decision: will return again and sit at bar. Enough good stuff to give another chance, good vibe overall and sometimes waitresses have off day or super hectic days. read more

This place is great, they are a mix between a diner and steakhouse. Makes sense they are high roller's sister restaurant. We only had some apps and a drink but it didn't disappoint. We had the bread and butter, it was a very thick/ dense loaf. The butter looks fresh churned and was a great honey flavor. We also had the burnt ends, the sauce was sweet and tangy and most pieces were well cooked and succulent. The highlight for me was the martini with blue cheese stuff olives. They are so hard to find, so I was thrilled to hear they have them. We will be back for dinner next time. read more

It is very unfortunate that they have such a rude hostess because the servers were so nice & welcoming. This hostess dismissed us from the minute we walked in the door (4 people) because we said we only wanted drinks. When we decided to order a shared appetizer she let us know that she would be giving away our table at 7pm regardless. When we realized it was getting close to 7pm she was constantly pacing in front of our table staring at the checkbook. Considering there were other groups who came just for drinks and did not have reservations it was a very unfortunate experience and I do not recommend. read more

Have been to Low Stakes twice in the past year and each time our server has had an awful attitude. It stinks going somewhere and feeling like you're inconveniencing the staff (on a not so busy Saturday night) by coming in, ordering drinks, apps, entrees, and dessert.. you'd think she'd have been happier to have us, or at least our money! The blooming onion that they have is fun and really good, but the steaks are overpriced, under seasoned, and not great. We were super excited to visit this restaurant since we have seen amazing reviews. We made sure to make a reservation just based on location. We arrived at 8pm with a reservation. We noticed they were short staff so we tried to make it easy and order drinks, appetizers and dinner all at once. Since I have work in the food industry so I get it. Received appetizers about 10 mins into being there but no drinks we ask at the 20 min mark and were told our order got skip and sorry. Again fine. At 40 mins our waitress came over and said she noticed we did not have our food so she check with the kitchen and told us our food was delivered to the wrong table and they planed on comping items and our food would be out shortly. At the hour mark and two other tables that entered after us received there food we just ask for our check. Which they did comp us for 1 drink each. We paid for our apps and 1 drink which I am fine with paying for what we had. What I don't understand is why a manger did not come to our table at this point but made a poor server that was obvious was new explain to us how sorry she was. It just was a true disappointment.. I given a 2 rating only because there drinks and the French onion soup I had was good. However I will not return nor would recommend for service alone. read more

we were told we'd have a table within 1/2 hour, so we sat at the bar and there were 2 empty booths the whole time we were @ the bar. 45 mins later they brought us to our table at the end of place. we ordered our steaks well done and they brought it charred on the outside and Red on the inside plus they forgot my lobster tail to make my meal a surf n turf and was Very disappointed with my lobster cause it was an Extra $18 and all it was was 3 bites!!!!
