My skunk odyssey began one night in early May while I was dog-sitting for my roommate. One of the dogs got sprayed by a skunk, which in and of itself is such a *super fun* experience to take care of; I just cannot begin to describe it. After cleaning up the dog, my neighbors and I found a dead skunk in the yard. Skunk problem solved, or so I thought. Several days later, the dog came charging into the house, smelling like skunk again. After some investigation, we found that another skunk had wrangled with the dog and lost the struggle. 4 baths and many curse words later, I got the word from my vacationing roommate to find a skunk exterminator. Now, as much of a pain as the skunk cleanup was, I was not up for the idea of killing the skunks. I just wanted them to BE GONE. Like, to the cornfield or something. Thankfully, we found Lowell's service, which involves removal and relocation of animals. After reading his excellently informative website, which describes what an expensive nuisance skunks can be, (like digging and destroying pipes for fun!) my roommate and I were convinced that Lowell, a state licensed Wildlife Trapper, could get the job done. Now, I don't know what you picture when you hear the title "Wildlife Trapper" but I sort of had a vision of someone showing up wearing a Daniel Boone hat, chewing tobacco and riding a Palomino. Sorry for the stereotyping, but it's not often one gets to hire a Wildlife Trapper. After a brief consultation over the phone, Lowell made an appointment with me and showed up on time, professionally dressed, (sans the horse, my only disappointment), and got right to inspecting our property. He explained that because this was the time of year that skunks have babies, it was most likely that an entire family of skunks was living somewhere on our property. He determined that the most likely location was under a shed in our side yard. Lowell set 3 traps and demonstrated how I could re-set them if something other than a skunk happened to wander into them. I was a little nervous thinking what might be in the traps that first morning I checked them on them, (an angry badger?!) but low and behold we caught a skunk right away. And another 3 the day after that. And even more 1 more. Lowell's trapping system was very effective. And, I have to admit, the process was exciting. I found myself giving people at work the Skunk Update whether they wanted to hear it or not. "Three today, Larry!" Stick that in your pocket protector!" I did find a huge black crow in one of the traps, but thanks to the instruction that Lowell had given I was able to set it free, without injuring the bird. Lowell was extremely responsive in picking up the little guys, as I fondly called them once they were safely nestled in the bed of his truck. He relocated them,very fast. We ended up catching 5 total, (count 'em!) and since then no new critters have taken up residence on the property. Lowell went the extra mile and explained in detail how we needed to take care of the crawl space and holes that were under our shed. Apparently areas like ours are real hot spot for skunks, and once they get in, they mark it so that other skunks passing by can get a whiff and say "Hey, we can party here, too." And if you think it only happens out in the foothills or the country, guess again. Skunks will get in no matter where you live. So, even if you don't have skunks today, you could later on. It's worth it to hire Lowell to do the exclusion work and have it done professionally. In conclusion, I highly recommend Lowell, the Wildlife Trapper and his Wildlife Removal services. Late 2015 we became concerned about a pair of squirrels using our slightly older shingle roof as a launchpad and catwalk, and found that a screen normally covering our chimney had become dilapidated and partially dislodged. Fearful that the pair might have or eventually get access to our attic and crawlspace, we phoned local animal control who recommended that we hire a professional trapper or wildlife removal service. Very good reviews and an informative website prompted us to call Lowell, who explained how he'd ideally like to tackle the squirrel issue, how he'd assess the roof both for damage and possible rodent-sized entryways, what types of trapping and exclusion he used, and what our options would be if he found a nest or infestation. We were very adamant that the squirrels not be harmed and, because of issues with the infrastructure our attic, a bit leery about having someone entering it. He understood and was willing to accommodate us on both counts. He was also very flexible about scheduling around weather, allowed us to select the specific time and day for an appointment, asked us about our preferred method of contact (text messaging), checked in with us roughly 3 hours before the appointment, and arrived promptly. The work -- an assessment inside the house and on the roof and perimeter of the property, as well as placement and installation of galvanized screening in some vulnerable areas -- was similarly outstanding. He was extremely thorough about finding any flaws in the roof and eaves that an animal might take advantage of, and in addition to screening the chimney and some plumbing vent pipes, discovered an error in the roof flashing that inadvertently created a triangular hole that would allow an animal direct access to the attic. This was also secured with screening and an application of waterproof sealant. The work was very clean, very methodical. He documented everything he found, recommended specific solutions and let us examine the screening materials if we wanted prior to starting any work, and provided us with images of the work in progress and after being completed. In general, it was definitely one of the best service calls we've made. You're never exactly overjoyed to have to have non-elective work done on your house, but Lowell made it a very simple, very easy process and was happy to let us talk his ear off with questions. He reassured us (and proved, with photographs and a thorough demonstration) that the roof and attic are pest-free and will remain so, and that gives us great peace of mind. read more

Long story short, I ended up getting exclusion work done by Terminex who told me they cleared my crawl space before sealing the perimeter of my home. The very same night I hear scratching and hissing under my house and when I called the big T back they said were too busy and couldn't make it for 2-3 business days, which was totally unacceptable. Like most other reviewers here, I can't recommend Lowell enough. He was timely, friendly, efficient, meticulous, and generous. I contacted him about a rat problem after reaching out to three other companies, two of which actually performed "inspections." Lowell spent nearly an hour checking every nook on my home - the other companies spent five minutes tops before asking for huge sums of money upfront ($700 and $950). A company that I only spoke to on the phone teased a price of around $600. Lowell charged a fraction of that and started his work immediately. (I'm sure that he is forced to charge more in other situations - my point is that he is fair and much cheaper than his competitors). Before I ever even hired Lowell, he spoke with me on the phone after business hours for a good fifteen or twenty minutes, taking time to answer every question I had. I'm scared of rats, and Lowell's answers gave me some peace of mind - and he didn't use my fear to try to sell me $5000 worth of new insulation (like one of the other companies). My problem was solved within 48 hours of Lowell's visit. Every entrance to my house is now sealed, so the solution is a permanent one. Lowell seems to be pretty popular, so he might not get to your home on the day you first call - but wait it out! He's popular for a reason. I'm so glad I called Lowells. I was referred to him by my pest control company (R&D Pest Control). I had discovered that I had squirrels living in my second story attic. Lowell came out, set up traps in the eaves at the point of entry (the screened vents). When he was sure that there weren't any critters in the attic he came back and rescreened all of the vents both upstairs and downstairs, also removing the bird's nests that had been built in the downstair's attic. We had a snake entered our house, and slid into closet. Even worse there was an entry from the closet to the under space beneath our bathtub, and the snake hid under the bathtub. I found Lowells on Yelp and called him. He explained to me how he would charge for his service clearly. He came and the snake hid under the bathtub. He went to buy glue pad to trap the snake. When he came back, he tried again and he got the snake. Wow! Everyone was happy! But he went beyond that. Lowells taped the subpanel to make the entry smaller and left glue pads next to it. Where can I start! We had hired our local pest control guy to help get rid of skunks around and under our house. They had used two traps to get the skunks, but never caught them. The skunks keep on getting under my house and spraying! We had an opossum problem under our storage shed. We dont know how long it's been there, it was this week that our dogs started going crazy and digging to get to the opossum. We called a few Wildlife removal services, and all have been unprofessional..especially when it comes to pricing. They like to dance around the price and try to be vague about it. We heard a lot of IF's BUT's from other company. We're glad to find Lowell's in Yelp. He was unable to help initially because he was fully booked. But, he took the time to explain and encourage me and see if I can catch the opossum myself. The night went by and I was unsuccessful catching the opossum. This review is long overdue... So we had a rat problem in our for a few months. We tried it all...rat poison and homemade poison, but no success. So I found Lowell on Yelp and called him in late January. From the moment we first spoke he was courteous, knowledgeable and attentive. He came to my home on a Saturday morning. I explained the problem to him and did a thorough inspection of my home he informed us that he first had to close up all access points and then put rats traps. If you read through previous Yelp reviews for Lowell's Wildlife Removal, they pretty much sum up my experience. Lowell is patient, professional, and thorough in every way. There were unexplained noises coming from my attic or wall, I really couldn't tell where because of the way the sound traveled. I had previously heard birds around the chimney area, but recently I thought the noises sounded different. Lowell carefully tried to assess the situation from my own report, but an inspection was necessary. He took his time examining the entire roof area, and during his attic inspection carefully inspected every nook and cranny to find areas where there might be signs of animals, or access to animals. He photographed the major findings to show me. He located a very stubborn pigeon nesting in one area of the roof, and he recreated the noise (as he tried to shoo it off) while I listened inside the house. The sound was similar to what I had been hearing, so he gently removed the pigeon and blocked off the area with a heavy-duty steel mesh to prevent future access. That pigeon is still trying to get back inside as I type this. Because of other wildlife that has been known to take up residency in area homes, Lowell carefully explained what we could do around the outside of the house to ensure we don't have future problems with other critters, in addition to the pigeons. He also offered to come back when my husband is home to reexplain if necessary, and show him how to do it as well. And, of course, we could decide to have Lowell do the work. Called him on Wednesday about a raccoon and her babies in our attic, he was out of town but gave us a suggestion to encourage them to leave the attic and by Friday when Lowell arrived, the Raccoon and her babies were gone! I called Lowell Saturday morning who patiently went over all the details of my raccoon attic invasion. Entry point, noises heard, time of activity, etc and determined that it was likely a female raccoon nesting with her young. Because of my distance from Lowell (40 miles), he suggested a few measures that may convince our new mother to move on her own. While he was happy to come out, we both decided that giving it a shot, with him coming out as the backup plan was the way to go. He gave me a series of specific tasks, all designed to let the raccoon know that we where aware of her and that this was not the warm welcoming location she thought it was. He also cautioned me that she may be stubborn and take a couple days to move on her own. We followed his advice to a T and that very evening she had enough. We watched her move out in a very panicked fashion, grabbing the babies one at a time and ushering them out of the attic. His advice and professionalism was greatly appreciated. I live in Banning in a residential area with lots of interesting critters that visit in the neighborhood - opossum, raccoons, and feral cats. Unfortunately, some type of animal decided to crawl under my home and die, creating a HORRIBLE odor, and no one looking in the crawl space could seem to locate the source of the smell. Animal control was called and couldn't help me and suggested I call an exterminator. The companies I called couldn't help me, but one company recommended Lowell's Wildlife Removal. I called and left a desperate message and Lowell returned my call and an appointment for the next day was made. Lowell arrived when he said he would be here, suited up and started crawling around in the very tight crawl space under my house, located the source of the smell and discovered that an adult raccoon had made its way into some ancient (and non-functional) ductwork in the crawl space under my older home and died. This certainly wasn't an easy job, but Lowell got the job done, closed up the access points, sprayed the area with a special solution to get rid of the smell and hauled away the stinky corpse in its ductwork coffin. His charges were certainly reasonable, too! I am so very grateful to be rid of the AWFUL stench. If I have any critter problems in the future, I know who I'm going to call! Lowell Miller did a wonderful job for us in early July. From the sounds coming from under our floor and other evidence, he confirmed that a female raccoon was nesting there. She had tried to rip off a couple of vent covers until she located the screen that covered the crawl space and gained entry there. Lowell crawled under the house--not an easy job--and was able to reassure us that no damage had been done yet. He worked with us to create an atmosphere that would make the raccoon want to leave and take her babies with her. She departed the same night. After she was gone, Lowell crafted a beautiful wood access door and replaced the vent screens with larger, sturdier ones.
