Well it's taken a few years and a few new pets to finally post about our sweet Shadow. She passed away when Covid first hit. It was a very scary time. LCV were there for us in our last moments with our girl. They were so kind, gentle and I'll never forget the care for not only Shadow but her parents too(us). It was one of the saddest days of our life but the staff all were so wonderful to us and it eased the pain. We have since moved but still love our vet clinic in Washington. Highly recommend!

In short, the receptionist was rude to my mom, I called and she was also rude to me, was irritated with my questions, she yelled at me, therefore antagonizing me, and when I called her out on her behavior and asked to speak to a supervisor, she hung up on me. I drove to complain in person, the manager had no way to verify what happened and it was clear to me they lack employee oversight. She apologized for "how I feel" instead of the girl's behavior while mostly correcting me for losing my temper when I was antagonized. Now, I am reading SEVERAL similar reviews about their front desk. It is a shame because I believe their vets are good ones. This place has no clue the effect mean-spirited employees have on their clients. I was calling about a puppy - we are happy customers with no reason to be upset. This should have been an easy one for them. Honestly, if I am going to be stressed out, my dog will be too. PASS!

I called around to a few places and no one could get her in on short notice or as an emergency, we called riverside and from the moment Shay picked up the phone the riverside staff were the best people in the world to us. We brought our dog down and they did a quick exam affirming that we already knew it was her time. They gave us plenty of time and space to say goodbye to our best friend and were so unbelievably compassionate. At such a hard moment it was so nice to be surrounded by people who not only obviously cared about our dog but also cared about us and how we were feeling and doing. They made sure we understood all the steps and answered all the questions we had. We truly cannot thank Riverside staff enough for the love and support that was in the exam room that day. We will definitely bring our pets here from now on. Thank you all for the wonderful work you do.

I'm writing this review after losing my dog. I understand not every case has a perfect outcome, but…read morethe way this was handled left me heartbroken and feeling like money mattered more than compassion. I brought my 10 year old dog in for an emergency appointment after he suddenly started limping and his leg became severely swollen. I paid around $800 for the visit and x-rays. I was told he had moderate to severe arthritis, extreme inflammation, chronic bronchitis, an enlarged heart, and a fever. What I cannot understand is how a dog with severe swelling, significant pain, and a fever was sent home without antibiotics or bloodwork. Instead, he was sent home with Gabapentin & Rimadyl. Within days his leg worsened, ruptured, and began draining. We had to call back ourselves and ask for antibiotics. Although the male vet we spoke with was extremely kind and compassionate, only then were they prescribed. We were then told bloodwork and opening the leg would cost another $1,100-$1,300, after I had already spent every dollar I had less than a week before. Two days after starting antibiotics, my dog suddenly vomited a massive amount of blood. It was traumatic beyond words. My 6 year old son was home and in tears, so we had to quickly arrange child care. We called the after hours line and were transferred to the on-call vet. The response we got was cold, rude, and completely lacking empathy while we were in crisis. We were immediately told it would be $250 just to be seen, on top of any treatment. My fiancé was crying on the phone, and the way we were spoken to in that moment was shocking and heartless. Within about 30 minutes, my dog collapsed and died in my arms at home. When we arrived at the clinic with his body, before we had even taken him out of the car, we were met with paperwork, cremation pricing, and questions about money. To this clinic, he may have been another patient. To me, he was my first dog, my best friend, and family. He was with me through the best and worst years of my life. I trusted this clinic to help him, and instead I'm left with grief and the feeling that his suffering could have been reduced if more had been done sooner.

People aren't RICH and can afford to make TWO trips with gas prices as they are, and the time involved. But I guess your arrogance doesn't mind losing any client, even after eight years. I'm fed up with the gluttony of Vets anymore. They are as bad as dentists. All cut throats.

They took her back and they handled the rest so well. They had a "comfort room" for me to hold my baby in her final moments. When I was ready I just had to press a button for the vet to come in. He came in, gave the medicine, was so sweet and understanding while I'm just a mess. I was given the option to pay beforehand and I'm so appreciative of that. When all was said and done, I have nothing but good things to say about the staff here. Every single one was so kind and compassionate. If I'm ever in this situation again, I know where I'm going.

I'm…read moreposting this to inform others in the community, especially pet owners, about what we experienced during an incredibly difficult time. This is not meant to discredit the clinic as a whole, but to be transparent about an interaction that had a significant emotional impact on us and may be important for others to be aware of. Our family recently brought our cat to Columbia River Veterinary Specialists during one of the most painful moments a pet owner can experience--having to say goodbye. I want to be very clear that the majority of the staff we interacted with were kind, patient, and compassionate. The woman at the front desk treated us with warmth and respect, the staff member we spoke with on the phone beforehand was helpful and understanding, and the veterinarian who ultimately assisted with end-of-life care was gentle, loving, and respectful. He took the time to explain everything clearly and treated both our pet and our family with dignity. Those are exactly the kinds of people you want working in a field that involves end-of-life care and emotional vulnerability. Unfortunately, our initial interaction with one staff member significantly overshadowed the experience. When our family first arrived, the individual who took our cat back (not the person who checked us in) made comments that strongly implied judgment about why our pet had not been brought in sooner. These remarks were delivered in a way that felt accusatory and lacked empathy, especially given that our pet was actively dying and we were already emotionally overwhelmed. Financial limitations are a reality for many families. Being made to feel guilt or shame for not having immediate access to thousands of dollars--at the exact moment we were facing the loss of a beloved pet--was deeply inappropriate and unprofessional. Veterinary professionals are entrusted with not only animal care, but human compassion. This was not the time for assumptions, judgment, or commentary--it was a moment that required empathy, discretion, and support. I'm sharing this because no family should be made to feel judged or shamed while saying goodbye to a pet. I sincerely hope this feedback is taken seriously and addressed internally, because the rest of the staff we encountered demonstrated the level of care and compassion that should be standard in situations like this. Our pet deserved peace and dignity in their final moments--and so did our family.
