We were visiting the Keys and booked with Captain…read moreTorre based on a recommendation from a local tackle shop ("good kid, works hard", they said) and I'm glad I listened to them!! We booked a morning four hour reef/wreck charter for four people - me, my wife, and our 2 kids (college and high school aged). Torre was waiting for us at the dock when we arrived and we were quickly on our way. We stopped on flats looking to net some live bait (pilchard?). Torre said live bait will make all the difference. So after a little bit of stalking, we found some bait and after Torre threw a few cast nets, we were off to the fishing ground a few miles from shore. Once we got out to the fishing grounds, it didn't take long to start catching cero mackerel. All four of us enjoy fishing, so we had a couple of flat lines out with live bait and once we started hitting the flat lines, it was game on!!! With all of the lines in the water, we were catching fast enough where there were times we were re-tying and rebaiting our rods, because Torre was busy bringing fish in or re-tying lost/tangled rods. Because we all fish, we didn't mind at all helping out, because the more time your line is in the water, the better your chances of catching fish. And we were definitely catching fish!! Our final total at the dock were 17 cero mackerel and one yellow tail snapper. We lost a few others before we could land them, released 4-5 more and lost one to a shark, since we ended up reeling in just a mackerel head. And thanks to that mackerel head, we even lost what might've been a goliath grouper with a bottom rig we baited with it... ahhh... the one that got away... And Torre was right... Once we ran out of live bait towards the end of our time and switched to cut bait, the action definitely died down. We had such a great time, Torre was able to squeeze us in for an afternoon charter the next day. It took us longer to find bait (checked three different spots) but we were willing to do the work to improve our chances of catching. And we did great for a second day in a row!! This time we were further out in ~300 feet of water 8-9 miles from shore looking for tuna. Our count for day two was... 3 huge mutton snapper, one blackfin tuna, and one bonito tuna all off bottom rigs. The numbers were lower, but the action was just as good. Reeling in from 300' deep is no joke!! When we are back in the Keys, we'll definitely call Torre to book a fishing charter again!!! I know fishing can be hit or miss, so we might've just been lucky two days in a row, but Torre was a great captain and great to fishing with!! Tight Lines!!!

I have been fishing for many years and this was absolutely my worst charter experience ever. The…read moreowner confirmed over the phone the day before (twice) that we would go fishing in the back country instead of a mixed-location trip due to the wind. They said that we could choose the duration of the trip: 4/6/8 hours. Contrary to their claims later, they did not say anything about the fishing being challenging that day. We met the captain at the dock in the morning and he seemed a little checked out. He said that once he leaves the dock, he has to charge us at least 4 hours "whether we go for 4 hours or 5 minutes." It was a strange and confusing comment, so we asked him directly if we can fish that day. He said yes and that we can catch barracuda, possibly tarpon - there was no mention of fishing being challenging or anything along those lines. The captain pulled up a fully loaded bait trap and filled the live well with live bait. Yet, inexplicably, he did not use any of this live bait for the rest of our trip (except for 10 mins. at the first stop.) He gave us two lures with rusty hooks and had us cast these lures in each of the spots we went to for 4 hours. We caught nothing except a tiny snapper that was smaller than the live bait what was sitting unused on the boat. We kept waiting for the captain to put out the live bait during the whole trip, which did not happen. The captain seemed like he couldn't care less whether we caught any fish. We still tipped him since he did drive us around for 4 hours. We contacted the company right away and relayed our experience. They never gave an explanation as to why the live bait was not used and it took almost one week for the owner to get back to us by email. He refused to address any of the issues (including the question of why the live bait was not used) and falsely claimed that we were told that fishing was going to be challenging that day (we were not.) We were completely fooled by the positive online reviews and photos for this company. They did not communicate properly and they had us show up at the dock and get on their boat with a captain who had no interest in catching fish. They then became unresponsive, only to claim later that it was our fault for taking the charter despite their warnings (there were no warnings.) I hope that others will see this review and not make the same mistake that we did.

Wow, were we lucky to find Finz when our charter to the Dry Tortugas canceled 5 days before our…read morescheduled excursion! Luckily, Finz had availability - and gratefully, we had Captain Rob and Holly to steer us there! His communication was EXCELLENT with texts in advance to keep me informed and prepared. We took their 37' Park Shark, which comfortably sat us in a cabin with plentiful views. The ride was a bit rougher than a catamaran, but it took us from Key West to the Dry Tortugas where Holly acted as our private tour guide, sharing insights about its history while we enjoyed the migrating birds. Afterwards, we zipped into wet suits that they provided to snorkel around a sunken ship. I'd recommend bringing your own lunch, especially if you have a vegetarian or pescatarian diet, but they kindly provide plenty of snacks and ice water. Our party of 6 chartered the Finz Park Shark for a day trip to the Dry Tortugas, where we scuba…read moredove (2 of us) and snorkeled, badly (4 of us). Everything was perfection. The crew was professional, friendly and attentive. We arrived at Fort Jefferson before the ferry, and enjoyed a private tour without the crowds. We visited two separate dive/snorkel sites (cool wrecks!) and lunch on the beach. Not cheap, but definitely the best way to visit the island from Key West, short of buying your own boat. Highly, highly recommend this company.

We scheduled our charter with Pepe; he was extremely helpful, responsive and knew our questions before we even had them. Captain Alex took us out on the day of - taking us directly to a hot spot of fish. Within minutes of anchoring and dropping some chum, we were reeling in fish - continued all day. Alex knew the water and was quick to accommodate our needs (including snapped lines - oops!). We will be back on the next visit to the Keys and recommend the company to anyone interested in a day on the water.
