I originally went to Tractor Supply since their website had tent stakes, low and behold they didn't have any at all. One of employees recommended I check out Ace. The last time I shopped and saw a Lowe's grocery store is when I lived in Lubbock, it was nice seeing one again. As I walked closer towards the hardware portion, I was immediately greeted by employee, James. He had a big grin on his smile and guided me to the stakes. He was personable as well as helpful. He made small talk with me as showed me the different stakes. I opted for the Peg stakes instead since they were longer. They were only $8 and when I got back to Blanco State Park j mounted my tent properly and securely as the winds were strong during the day into the night.

Who knew getting a key made could be such an *ACE* of an experience? I popped into Biedermann's…read moreAce Hardware to take care of some key business--literally--and walked out with a freshly cut key *AND* some delicious popcorn. Double win! But wait, the plot thickens. Once I got home, I thought my key ring of all the other keys had pulled a disappearing act. Cue panic. I searched high, low, and everywhere in between (read: the depths of my car seats). Meanwhile, the entire Ace squad was on their walkie talkies, mobilizing like a key-finding SWAT team. Not once did anyone make me feel like a bother--no side-eye, no sighs, just pure helpfulness. Turns out, the keys were just playing hide-and-seek in the car. Crisis averted! The store itself? Clean, welcoming, and packed with EVERYTHING. Need a bird feeder? Check. How about a candle that smells like heaven? They've got it. Wind chimes to add a little ~zen~ to your backyard? You bet. We moved here in '93, and I've been into Ace at least once or twice a month, likely quite a bit more, since then. Sadly, the original store burned, but it was rebuilt even better. The owners are locals who understand and practice the idea of service to their community. The store is always very well stocked and tidy, and it's very easy to locate whatever it is you stopped in for. Their staff is extremely knowledgeable, courteous, and eager to help with whatever you may need. If you don't quite know what you need, someone on staff is always happy to help explain the best way to complete your project, usually faster, better, and cheaper than you first thought. You won't get that at the big box store. In 30+ years of doing business with them, I have yet to have a bad experience. These days, that's really saying something.
