We came here after moving to our second hotel in Wilmington to spend some time on the beach and be closer to our family. It turned out that the grocery store was closer to our beach hotel than the one in downtown Wilmington. Will mark this as the grocery store to come to when we stay at Wilmington again.

Well here she's slicing super thin about 4 times!!! Then I asked for another same order and she sliced a different color cheese and goes on to say it's the same cheese. I had to show her the two cheese were different color. It took her about 35 minutes going back and forth. Then my 15.99 per pound honey glaze turkey was thick and heavy! Great job HT! At the customers expense. I was late to an appointment and missed it. Stop with this kind of hiring. You're not cheap and we deserve good service. Hope Corporate sees this.

Very busy place as it is nearest to the beach and at a busy intersection, so the parking lot can be crowded also. The Deets: The nearest big chain grocery store in the Holden Beach area is this Food Lion, back on the mainland in the shopping center at the first stoplight after coming back over the bridge from the beach (same on as Walgreens). The parking lot is usually pretty packed as this store/shopping center is a pretty busy one. The grocery store itself is pretty clean and has a good layout, but again usually pretty busy with customers. The grocery prices are pretty acceptable for a beach area and of course their Food Lion MVP cards for special prices are useable here. There is a pretty good selection of all grocery items, no visible lacking areas noted so far. There is a hot food bar available if you want to use for a premade meal to take home. The beer cooler is towards the front to the left as you walk in, pretty handy in a beach area obviously. There are staffed checkout lines as well as self checkout kiosks, and the self checkout area line actually moves pretty fast as well staff comes quickly when needed/screen signals them. This beach area Food Lion gets the job done and I have to say it's not bad compared to most beach area grocery stores as well as a lot of Food Lion stores in general.

Well we were on the island for a day and decided to see if it was still there. We drove up and there was a window boarded up and it looked deserted. Upon a second look and one car in the parking lot we saw it was open and decided to hop in and give them some love. We were greeted warmly by a cashier donning a mask, which I was happy to see. We went up and down all the aisles of this old school grocery store. They have just about anything you'd need, including for the beach. We saw the cutest seashell nightlight with a seahorse etched on it and had to have it. Not a big purchase, but at least some support. When this crazy pandemic clears and we feel we can safely stay a few days this will be our go to for any needed groceries.

The checkout lady was competent. She even thanked me for bringing my recycling bags, asked me how my visit was and invited me to come back to the store. The bagger was pleasant. He happily bagged my items and as I exited, I believe it was a manager, smiled and bade me farewell. Two thumbs up. This is a model class in grocery store customer service. I will be back.

The bread was very fresh and soft which is usually a deal breaker if it's hard and crunchy.
