He handed me a very small bag which must have contained a burrito . I ordered General Tzo's chicken. When he finally found the other order he wanted me to pay but I had already paid online. My Uncle Bryan that just had knee surgery and this restaurant turned him away from using their phone during the storm yesterday after his car got flooded and he was stranded and walked there weeks after full knee replacement. They treated him like trash as well as some of the customers. All he wanted was to use the phone to call the police to report his car getting flooded in the storm so they would know where it was and that he wasn't missing. And they would not allow it and trash talked him along with some of their customers doing the same to him. Mind you he was also a paying customer. This is the man that will give his life to save a stranger and has never turned anyone away when they needed a helping hand. Whoever the owner is might want to get new staff. Roads closed dead phone. I hate leaving bad reviews but very disappointed tonight. It's been a while since I've had Chinese so looked forward to our take out. I ordered MooShu Pork which was just ok. The pancakes were awful. The noodles for soup are stale as well as fortune cookies. Husband ordered Garlic Chicken which he enjoyed. Left egg roll out of our order we did not go back to correct this. This used to be the go to place for take out for us. Always fresh and hot. Then one day I ordered a pile of veggie rolls to take with me. When I went to eat them the veggies were all rotten - like freezer burnt and reheated. New to area, first time customer. Nice little restaurant. Staff very friendly and helpful. Ordered General Tso Chicken Pork Lo Mein Steamed Dumplings. Egg Rolls Our meal was good and we will return. Only a couple things that kept us for giving 4 stars. More of a personal preference thing. (I'll be sure to mention when we order next time) Gen Tso had more sauce on the dish than we like, (but sauce was good not as sweet as others) Lo Mein actually was a little dryer than we like, could have used more sauce). I went to Wok & Roll for the first and last tine today (1/3/2020). I arrived around 4:30 PM. It wasn't very busy and only a few people ahead of me in line. I saw the 96.5 rating and thought that was a pretty good sign, but I noticed neither the cook or the lady working the counter were wearing caps or hairnets. Then I saw a guy that was sitting at one of the tables go into the kitchen and start getting raw food out of containers without gloves and without washing his hands. Nope! No can do! I might budge a bit on the missing caps and hairnets but I ain't eating anything after the dude's dirty bare hands been handling it. I've mulled over posting this for a few days, but the bottom line is this is as important to share here as it would be the review I planned to write. On Monday I had business in Brunswick County, which meant I could order some of those amazing crab rangoons made by "Wok and Roll" by Waterford. I'd only had them once before, but they were amazing and I've been searching for someone in Wilmington who made them as good and I've never found anyone who has. I was very excited to order the crab rangoons. When I got home I ate one and it was as delicious as I had remembered, but then I ate more, and much to my shock there was something sharp and pointy in my mouth. It wasn't like a bone, it was odd so I took it out and there was an industrial type staple! Thank God I didn't swallow it. But this was unacceptable. I phoned the restaurant, she remembered me being there and buying the crab rangoons. I told her about the staple and I told her I took a picture and could send it to her, I must say she really did not appear surprised or apologetic. I got another number so I could shoot over the picture but she told me she believed me. That was nice, but that was all she said. I didn't hear back until the next day when she said to give her a call. I texted her back and told her I was very disappointed that she did not make it a priority to get back to me that very night, or offered a refund my order cost, or anything! But while I was waiting for her to offer me a refund or some kind of remuneration it was plainly evident that this could happen to someone else. A friend had also ordered from there and she told me that when they got theirs the box had been stapled shut. In hasn't noticed that. When I looked at my box it too had been stapled shut, and consequently what I think happened was that the person stapled right in to one of the crab rangoons and when I opened the box not knowing, or expecting there to have been staples, the staple was in side the crab rangoon and I didn't see it. Many people eat food from this place, and their food is good, however this is dangerous, it's a dangerous practice and people who visit here who don't know to look for staples in their food before they eat it could very well end up with large hospital bills to fix their stomach, intestine or wherever the heck that's staple would go if swallowed. I have a feeling I'm not the first person who's had this happen but I do want to be the last. Please take a minute to think through what you would have thought when a staple ended up being in your mouthful of food. Possibly all Wok and Roll needs to do is invest in different containers so stables would not be necessary. Surprising gem in the wild outback of Bolivia, NC. Yes, the crab rangoons are the best I have ever had! They're little flower-gems filled with a creamy crabby goodness that must be experienced. Yes, the red sauce which accompanies these little darlings are weird as all heck -- it doesn't stop me from dabbing each little bit of fried yum into the unknown dipping sauce. Sure, the "hot" dishes are not as spicy hot as I'm accustomed to, but, they were pretty spicy for the area. And while the sauces are a bit thicker than I like, the food is freshly prepared. We've been to this location many times and they haven't been great but do to the fact they're the only Chinese place around we keep going back hoping it will get better. Tonight we got home with our food only to realize that two main components of our meal was missing, meaning that 3 family members wouldnt be eating. I gave them a call to tell Them what happened and she laughed!!! Infuriating. She told me to come back and get the missing pieces but by that point the time I got back home the rest would be cold. I avoided Wok & Roll due to its rating. After trying many places in the area it was my last resort. I was very pleased with the meal I got: the egg roll was crisp not greasy, the steamed wontons were done perfectly I had chicken and broccoli and it was delicious. I LOVE Chinese food. I was lucky enough to work 2 years in San Francisco just blocks from Chinatown. We literally ate in Chinatown every day. Of course, that sets an incredibly high standard. However, I have also had reasonable Chinese food in Evansville, Indiana, Ann Arbor, Michigan, and even North Ridgeville, Ohio. Sadly, the shrimp in lobster sauce that I ordered was completely bland and flavorless. The only saving grace was that this was take out so I could doctor it with Asian spices I had at home. No stars. Zero! This place is terrible. I should have looked closer at the health score and reviews before going there. The health score steadily drops proving that the owner and staff do not care about quality of food, cleanliness or health of patrons. I ordered food to go. Paid. Waited at empty table while food was prepared. Looked more closely at dining area and was simply disgusted to think the kitchen must not be any better. The place was closed for over a year during Covid you would think they would have cleaned the place once. There is a lifetime of dust and grease on every single dining chair and table base. The floors look like the have never been mopped and maybe swept weeks ago. Seriously? I know, I should have cancelled my order but I gave benefit of the doubt and took my purchase home. After opening the box and taking a few bites, threw it directly in the trash. Egg rolls soggy and greasy, all items were fried to oblivion and the smell of burnt oil wafted out of the container. My guess is that the oil hasn't been changed probably ever based on the smell from one to go container and my clothing from being inside this nasty place. Inedible. Waste of money. I ordered "Sweet and Sour Chicken", and while that was about average, the included eggroll was not edible, so it was thrown in the trash (I can get better in the frozen foods section at the grocery store). Wife ordered "Chicken Chow Mein", and again, while that was just average, the included Won Ton soup was tossed in the trash. I don't know about others, but I don't like paying for food in a restaurant, only to end up throwing it out. Restaurant Style: Chinese Takeout   Last Visit: 05/17/19   Ambiance: although this is an order-from-the-menu-at-the-counter kind of place, they do have a few nice tables to eat-in. Be warned, they'll bring the food to you but the plates and cutlery are all styrofoam and plastic. Drinks come in cans and bottles.   Service:  Prompt, courteous and helpful.  They will not really wait on your table other than to bring out your food.   Food: There is an extensive menu of takeout standards such as General Tso's chicken, egg rolls, Moo goo gai pan, wonton soup, etc. For beach vacationers, you can get most anything to take back to the rental. Some things they do very well including hot and sour soup, egg drop soup, shrimp rolls, crab Rangoon and-that old standard-chow mein. It took me years to perfect Crab Rangoon at home and Wok and Roll has these 3-inch crunchy stars holding gushing cream cheese and begging for the sweet dipping sauce. I'm jealous. I like hot and sour soup and test it everywhere. The version here warms the lips nicely with a spiciness that you do not have to pay for all day. Sauces seem light and supporting rather than pasty and clinging. Some items (shrimp rolls) work better than others (vegetable spring rolls). Also available are several steamed plates (mixed vegetables, chicken or beef with vegetables, shrimp with vegetables) and fried American staples such as wings, shrimp, chicken nuggets, scallops, crab sticks. This is the the kind of place that fills up at lunch with all the construction guys laying pipe and building houses for hot food and lots of it. Try here for the quick in and out.   Food for the non-Carnivore: They will prepare most entrees without the meat.  There are some vegetarian items such as vegetable delight, bean curd Szechuan, eggplant in garlic sauce.   For Kids: No dedicated children's menu, but you ought to be able to come up with something from all the options.   Difference Dividend: Explore the Hibachi Grill-style items.   Hours: Monday through Thursday 10:30 AM - 10:00 PM, Friday and Saturday 11:00 AM - 11:00 AM, Sunday 11:30 AM - 10-00 PM, but always call first because this is the beach and too many places put out the "gone fishing" sign.   Expense Account: Figure about $10 each.   Adult Beverages: none. read more
