After trying to work with 3 of Lowe's competitor's "tile experts," I drove directly to the Lowe's in Amherst, NH. Not only did the service excel, the employees of Lowe's went out of their way to make sure I was pleased with my tile selection; easily purchased; and loaded carefully into my car. The 4 Lowe's employees are: Keri Cullinan--I found Keri in another department, and after hearing carefully to what I needed, inquired what I needed, and to stay in the Tile Department to return with someone who could successfully complete my order and answer any and all questions. Art Papakostam--Even though Arthur worked in the Electrical Department, he knew well the ins and outs of purchasing and installing tile. He spent much time, answered all my questions, made suggestions, and then turned me over to the next Lowe's employee to help. Liam Shea-not only did Liam help load the needed boxes of tiles onto a flatbed, he also stayed with me throughout the purchase and then loaded the car carefully as to displace the tile weight evenly. Courteous, friendly and most helpful. Bryan Raymond-When I went to buy the tiles and show my military ID for a discount, I was told of much paperwork and proof that was now needed to prove the military status of my husband. I asked to see a manager, and within 10 minutes, Bryan had me not only registered easily, but also escorted me back to the register to ensure a smooth checkout. Bryan made the challenge of paperwork disappear while following store policy and mycomplete customer satisfaction. I have always been a loyal Lowe's customer--now, more than ever. My thanks to the staff at Amherst Lowe's for making a previous, most-unpleasant competitor's experience, disappear. Do not purchase windows from Lowes replacement window division. I can best describe this experience by paraphrasing an article recently published regarding how corporations treat customers these days. They pursue you at first because they need your business. Once they get your business, their business model is to turn EVERYTHING over to their computer voicemail service so that No One is responsible for customer service. Once the install is complete, they send relentless surveys which warn that if you don't give them a "10" for the whole process, then it will hurt the installers in their performance review. I spent nearly $15,000 for windows with them and they responded by holding up my installation over $14 worth of quarter round that they miscalculated and thought was my responsibility. We are in a time where shopping local with real live, on site people must be how we protect ourselves from this ridiculous process that corporations are using to rip people off. But while their staff has always been great, their web site disappoints repeatedly, and local store's staff cannot cover the gaffs. I've blown a week, trying to buy a Kobalt battery powered pruning saw, and after online failed directing me to local store, local store saying they can't order, try customer service phone, and that hitting a dead end upon 3rd forwarding to another person, I think I'm done with Lowes as default. I ordered some Klein MODBOX stuff, and the quality of the things I picked up from the store (were picked in store, not shipped to it) were rather poor. For example, on my two drawer box, the locking mechanism didn't even function correctly, as it would scrape and scuff the drawers. Call me obsessive, but I like my $180 tool drawers to not look 'ate up' within 5 minutes of being used, not to mention it was so dusty I had to use wipes in my car to clean it off. An attachment I had for it was also glazed over and had some weird sticky residue on the metal part. the person who was assisting me with my pickup just stood there like a mute while I was trying to explain it was damaged and cared more about going behind the pickup lockers on his phone, so I just said whatever and went on my way I've always had issues with this lowes. I've never written a review before, but I just can't let this one stand. We bought a new fridge from Lowe's over the weekend. They were supposed to deliver it, hook it up, program it, and move our old fridge to the barn. They get here, take some measurements, and tell me it will fit through the front door, but won't fit through this other doorway on the way to the kitchen. Our house is very old and there are a bunch of old doorways in between rooms. Anyway, the opening is 29 inches and we needed about 30. I tell them to come back, and then I just removed the door jamb. There's no door there anyway, and I'll just have my guy come and refinish it. No big deal. Now I have 30.5 inch opening and the fridge (with the doors off) is 29 3/4 inches. Presto! They come back and tell me that they need 31" inches or it won't fit. Now, I'm no mathematician but I'm pretty sure that 29 3/4 inches is smaller than 30 1/2. But the guy is arguing with me so I finally I tell them to unload the fridge and leave. I call a neighbor to help me move it and guess what? It went right through the doorway. No problem at all. Those guys were either stupid or lazy and I don't know which one is worse, but I paid money for their services and they gave me excuses instead. Do not buy a black enamel top Whirlpool stove from Lowes. The front edge of mine chipped immediately in several places, including a big gash: therefore, a brand new stove now looks like it's ten years old. Neither Whirlpool nor Lowes would stand by this product which is a very poor design. Here's how it went: Lowes told me I had to talk to Whirlpool. Whirlpool strung me along for weeks, saying they would get back to me. But I had to keep calling them back (endlessly on hold each time) until they told me, "sorry, it is cosmetic and not covered." Then Lowes told me that NOW it's too late to return it. Do yourself a favor and buy from a local outfit that will stand by its products. We had a great experience with Lowes recently with a storm door replacement. Given that we opted to have them quote some gutter work ( repair and replacement), We booked an appt. for Saturday, May 21st on the assumption an estimator would visit us. Twenty minutes before the appt. we receive a text that this is going to be a telephone appt. That was a surprise. Upon receiving the call , we are sent an estimate with satellite photo's taken of our house between 2015 to 2020. We had facia's that needed repair and were told they were primarily installers only and typically don't due any repairs. This really turned us off..I am sure measurements were accurate , but we expected human contact and the opportunity for discussion. I would assume this goes for ALL LOWE'S, I purchased a fridge on July28, it was supposed to be delivered on July 30. It came damaged and I refused delivery. In all fairness the fridge was probably damaged in the factory but here's where the horror story begins. I was told someone would call the next day and set up a second delivery. That call never came. I called the store on multiple days and customer service and was told the replacement fridge is in BOSTON and this was day four. Well, that's a great place to keep my food cold. They couldn't get a delivery date for me but I assumed it would take at least two days for the fridge to get to NH. I decided to cancel the purchase and go somewhere else. Next step, trying to get a credit for this purchase is like pulling teeth. I've called multiple times only to be put on hold for up to an hour and then promised "someone will call you back in 24 hours." lol We are going on day five days and all I've accomplished is a case number and another promise that someone will call me back in 24 hours. Oh, and IF THIS CALL DOES COME, a credit will take 7-10 days the credit will have to be researched!!! What kind of business protocol is this???? I obviously went to another company and purchased the same fridge and saved $200 plus I'm getting a rebate from the electric company which the Lowe's failed to inform me was available. Do yourself a favor, DO NOT PURCHASE MAJOR APPLIANCES FROM ANY LOWE'S. THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRIBLE AND GOOD LUCK GETTING A CREDIT. This is a typical Lowe's store. It is a bit bigger than Home Depot nearby and it carries slightly different merchandise. If these stores were coffee shops, Home Depot would be Dunkin Donuts and Lowe's would be Starbucks. They do the same thing but service a slightly different crowd. This store is kept reasonably clean and the employees I spoke with were very helpful. Lowe's seems to have less employee turnover than Home Depot so we see the same staff year after year. DO NOT SO BUSINESS WITH THIS STORE!!! Unprofessional, do not care about customer satisfaction, make HUGE mistakes and thinks it's ok to dismiss them. Long story short (will go in to details below)-Wrong door was INSTALLED. 2 days later they delivered the "right" doors which were wrong again. ALL the doors were labeled with the wrong stickers. They refuse to take ownership and offer any type of compensation or rush delivery. Two weeks later and I still have the wrong doors installed and no one from the store, cooperate or productions will return my calls or speak with us. Long story-Picked out patio French doors in an aisle at Lowes in Amherst NH. Put the request through with Liz in Millwork who states we would get a call in 24-48hrs from installer to come take measurements. 72 hours go by and get a call from Lowes that they have to find another installer and we will get a call from him in another 24-48hrs. No call AT ALL from any installer. A few days later while I'm in the middle of a photography session I get a ring at my doorbell from the installer (oh I happened to be in the area so thought I'd see if I could measure). I told him he never called, I am working and he has to come back. He eventually came back two days after that to take measurements and stated I should hear estimate from Lowes in a day or two. A WEEK goes by, no call. Spoke with Liz from Millwork again who apologized for no one calling back with estimate. States estimate on the phone and that all we had to do was come in to sign contract. Went to store a few days after that to sign contract. A DIFFERENT price was listed on the contract. $100 more. This was with Dave Wells another associate of Millwork. He apologized that the original quote was missing something. Told him before I signed the contract I needed to hear that the installer could have it done by May 6th (my daughters 1st birthday party followed by a vacation where we wouldn't be home). Installer didn't answer but Dave stated he would call us when the installer could confirm that. 1 day later Dave called back and stated yes Joe the installer said he could get it done before May 6th. Asked him to email the contract so we wouldn't have to drive 30 mins to the store again and he did. I signed it and faxed back and got no response for two days. Emailed Dave again, still no response (I have emails to prove it). Went to store to find it what was going on..Liz was there and apologized again. Finally signed the contract and Joe installed said he would be by Wednesday may 3rd. My mother was with the kids that morning as I work the night shift. Woke up from my nap to the WRONG doors being installed. Called the installers and Lowes and corporate who said this was a unique situation and I stated that I wanted the RIGHT DOORS delivered ASAP and installed. Says the earliest they can get the doors to us is Friday May 5 but that installer can't do it for 10 days. Stated then I wanted a refund for installation and would have someone else install. May 5th, manager Mike and another delivery worker show up with THE WRONG Doors again (I ordered the ones with the grills) however this door had a right swing which is what I wanted). Turns out, all of these doors were labeled wrong. Mike the manager typed the item number on to the Jeldwin website that was on the door delivered (and installed) and the RIGHT door I picked out showed up on the website. So every single door was labeled wrong. Gave me two options: to keep the door they delivered and once we returned the doors installed (with left sided swing) we would get installation back. Both men stated this was an easy job and that my husband would have no problem switching them out. Second option was to wait inevitably for or right doors to be in stocked and delivered. For this HUGE mess up, those were my only two options. My husband and I wanted to be done with it so after speaking with my husband we decided the first option. When husband got home from work he said there was NO WAY he could install them, that this was a huge job! Called Lowes back and stated we have had enough, we want the right doors we ordered to be installed properly ASAP! And we wanted some type on compensation. Jen the manager basically said we won't be compensated any way. From there we filed reports with BBB and FCC, spoke with Jeldwin company who stated if this was their mistake they would gladly work wih Lowes to give us what was fair...reported that back to Jen who said she would call back with an offer. Never got a call back. When we called store back and asked for manager she never called back but had associates call. Talked with nick from productions who states by Friday May 12 we would be getting a call from an Ali who has been assigned to our case to work with Lowes for the right doors and compensation..no call. This company is a joke. Billion dollar company like this. Installed the wrong doors then when the right doors were supposed to be delivered they were wrong again. Every door was labeled wrong. All they wanted to offer was $200 compensation for the trouble after dealing with the executives and higher ups. We said that was not acceptable for all the trouble we went through and they said they would try to negotiate a compensation of what is more fair ONCE the right doors are installed. A month later, finally the right doors got installed and $200 was all they continued to offer. Friends of ours had a dryer delivered a week late and THEY GOT $200. Last week we had carpet installed in our family room. We had ordered the carpet and their best pad. The installers showed up right on time and quickly removed the existing carpet. Then they proceeded to put the padding down. I couldn't believe what they had. The padding material was fine, but what they had was scraps from previous jobs. One of the pieces even had the name of the previous customer marked on it. Some pieces were only a few feet on edge and some were badly torn. When I objected the installers went out to the truck to see if they had larger pieces. They were finallly able to put together an acceptable base. This morning I called the installing company who referred me back to Lowes. The gentleman in flooring had me contact the corporate installation team. From there I was referred back to the store where I ordered the carpet. An assistant manager took my call but did not seem overly concerned with my complaint. Noticed no one was at the paint desk when we arrived so we decided after pushing the button twice for assistance and not being helped to just get all of our other shopping out of the way before looping back. Came back to still no one at the paint desk 25 minutes later. Pushed the assistance to paint desk button once again waited a few and no one came. Pushed it again and again not a single person came. Finally pushed the button a third time and not only did no one come to assist us but multiple employees at this point had walked by and purposely not made eye contact after clearly seeing we were waiting to be helped. At this point we stood and waited for another few minutes absolutely at a lose. We recently bought a stove, dishwasher and washing machine there -- and we saved ourselves ~$400 because the sales staff matched prices of other stores, helped us with discounts and rebates. More importantly, after a bad experience with a local granite shop, I went back to Lowe's and ordered the granite from them -- and again, the cost was lower. They shopped the work out to Discover Granite and Marble in MA and they were an incredibly professional organization. Everything about the transaction was perfect and my granite looks phenomenal! Lowe's is a "new" type of big box store -- it's a big store that offers personal service and reasonable prices. read more

please don't purchase anything from here. My sister ordered French doors at the store and when they were delivered they installed them and then to her surprise when she came downstairs (she has two babies she had to mind during the installation) she sees it's the wrong doors. Apparently all the doors at lowes display are tagged with the wrong product tags so when lowes orders them You will not get the door you saw at the store. After many calls to corporate and the store they said they will deliver the right door and only take 200$ off but they still were charging the 800$ installation fee. The second delivery comes and it's the wrong door again. They said they would only reverse the installation fee if my brother in law installed it himself and that "it's easy to do you can do it yourself" . So he tried and it was impossible to do despite the fact he's had some experience in carpentry . When they called back again The store manager Jennifer (whom they've been in touch with through this) continued to be rude and very unapologetic and said basically she wasn't doing anything more than the $200 off and they would "try" to get the right door but was not going to budge with the installation fee. Every time my sister would try to negotiate Jennifer would say "no stop right there I'm stopping you right in your tracks your Gonna listen to what I have to say". Lowes even admitted it was their fault and ALL The doors on display were marked incorrectly for ordering. It's been several days and they said they would get back to us yesterday with a possible resolution but "no one is going to reverse the installation fee it's not happening". No one ever got back and now every time my sister calls they hang up on her. Please do not buy anything from here! They are evil. Not even corporate was helpful. Now I am making sure I help contact every federal complaint burea I can and posting this review everywhere! Our Lowe's experience.. We bought our first house, a foreclosure, 3 years ago. As you can imagine we have spent a lot of money at Lowe's stores since we have done all of our home improvements thus far on our own. This summer we decided that our hard earned savings should go towards new windows for our home. We had a few different companies come through and give us estimates. We ultimately decided to go with Lowe's. The Lowe's window salesman was very nice and promptly responded to any questions we had.. That was until we signed on the dotted line and the install went bad. Lowe's contracts out their installers and according to Lowe's the installers for our project were "their best guys". Well that is sad or comical because after the instal was "done" only 8 windows were in because two of them were ordered to be the wrong size. This meant they had to put the old ones back in which was done poorly to the point that nothing was tightly sealed from the outdoors and they screwed the windows shut so for 3 weeks we were unable to open those Windows. Besides that the 8 Windows that were installed also had problems. We splurged on new exterior trim but for some reason the installers decided to not use a bunch of the materials that were in our basement so the exterior had new white trim but all of the old green strapping around the Windows. The trim was not sealed to the house leaving large gaps. Not to mention the million nails left all over my yard and patio. Per contract my husband was there all day, had to use a vacation day. He brought up all these concerns to installers but they had excuses such as not having the right materials... HELLO THAT DOES NOT MEAN YOU JUST CONTINUE THE JOB AND HAVE IT BE SHITTY! As frustrating as installation day was it is how Lowe's handled the situation which was worse. We didn't hear from them for days upon days even when they say they will call you by the end of the day they don't. Finally, after my husband called the store manager and higher ups they sent the owner of the installation business and a couple guys out to fix the trim and install the last 2 Windows. They also told us in terms of getting some money back for our inconvenience and wasted second vacation day they "would make us whole". We did not go in to this project expecting money back but considering all we went through and how much money was spent we feel it's the least they can do. However, since second installation we have been told a refund is not going to happen so again we called higher ups who said they would be in touch that night and that was over a week ago. Had Lowe's actually cared about our inconveniences and handled them in a professional and timely manner I would not be writing this review. But they didn't and now we will be sure to never shop at Lowe's again which is unfortunate for them because we still have many projects to go.
