Update: I have updated my review from 2 stars to 3 stars now that we finally received our dishwasher....However..... Be ready to be VERY patient when ordering appliances from Lowe's. Customer service in the Appliance Center was friendly and helpful. We were able to find and order the ADA Bosh dishwasher to fit our small space and it was sold at a good price. Although we were told delivery and install would be within two weeks after purchase, we waited over one month. Finally, the installation company Lowe's uses called, but they made a mistake with scheduling , so we had to wait one more week. Also, they were not very accommodating regarding hours. Thus, making it difficult for working adults to be available for the install. Once the installer came he was polite, friendly and skilled. So, six weeks later everything worked out. Again....If the appliance item is not in stock and you order appliances from Lowe's BE PREPARED TO WAIT A LONG TIME. read more

Most everyone at Lowes has been very helpful during our recent remodel. A lot of the employees would recognize us (since we were in there every day!) and say "Hi" and check up on our projects. We ordered blinds with Judith and she was very kind and helpful! I know theyre a big box store and all of that, but we shopped there at least 20 times in the last two months and never had any problems. Returned many items and no issues. I was impressed. Comparing the three home improvement stores, you know who the other two are- don't you? Lowes is consistently at the bottom when it comes to knowledgeable, trained, courteous, MATURE, associates. Most of them could gives a rats behind about you the customer - who is the reason they have a job in the first place ! So don't ask for any simple advice, good luck with even getting basic directions to a product. Please realize the other two home improvement places know very well the value in hiring knowledgeable, mature people who can truly help the customer. When I go in Friedmans especially, I see many of the same employees year after year, apparently they are treated good, and valued. Me the customer appreciates this. Lowes ends up hiring all the twenty some rejects, as far as I'm concerned. read more

If I could give them a BIG FAT ZERO...I would. I met with Will to help plan a remodel I wanted to get done. We put together a design plan and he said Derick would call to schedule an appointment to come out to the house and take precise measurements, so we could move forward. Three weeks go by and Derick never calls. NEVER. I followed up several days ago and find out that Derick "lost me". That's comforting. Will advised he was going into a meeting shortly with Derick but that they would both call me together as soon as their meeting was over. Must be the longest meeting in history...because they never called. I waited for over two hours that afternoon and nobody called nor did anybody call the next day or the next five days afterwards. Finally, I call Will again to follow up and he said he has been so busy helping other customers and forgot. Forgot? Again? Really? Needless to say, Lowe's will not be doing the remodel. As I look at all of the other negative ratings...I am thinking maybe it's a blessing in disguise. read more

Called Lowe's because our new electric Samsung range is not working. Yes, it's the same one that we couldn't get delivered on time. It fluctuates between 20 to 50° either over or under the temperature that's set. My daughter is a pastry chef and was preparing a family order. The oven was set to 350°, after checking it twice, the oven thermometer said 350°. 10 minutes later, the oven thermometer read 270°. The range displays said 350°. This was on convection bake, regular bake is even less trustworthy. I suspected we had bought a lemon. I started calling the Cotati Lowe's at 8:20 PM. I started with the operator, 72 rings, then appliances, about 50 rings - then I was sent back to the original recording, tried kitchen cabinets, again no answer after dozens of rings. I called the pro service desk - which rang several times, and then went to a fast busy signal. I called this number three separate times. I stopped trying to call at 8:50 PM. This has to be the worst customer phone service I have ever experienced in a store. There was never a human being that answered the phone. read more

I just went to Lowe's to purchase a few things for a house remodel! I went around store and noticed several employees just talking and not really looking to assist customers! The help is the worst--lazy and could careless! Furthermore the toilet I purchased was 50 dollars less at Home Depot! So, trying to buy a toilet at Lowe's was a nightmare but I needed and hoped to get in and out fast! It was the closest store on my way home and did not seem crowded and still no help! Finally, after 20 minutes I got help in toilets! Another lady said same thing--the person helping her was busy with someone else and finally showed up 15 min later! Then we had to get help out the store! Well, that took another 10 min to find help to get toilet to my car which was right outside door! Lowe's, what is customer service? Who is your manager if you have one? Sorry, I won't be back soon as Home Depot is better than this and they are not too good either! Check your prices folks as Home Depot has good prices! Lowes has a great selection of product at reasonable prices but are severely short staffed and those they have working for them have terrible customer service skills. A dismissive attitude towards shoppers when questioned about products. Far from "experts" in their departments. When asked a worker about wall mount sinks he just told us what aisle, didn't offer to walk us down and show us (it was 2 aisles down) Also, found it ridiculous that I had to wait 20 mins for help in the kitchen aisle about counter tops and when asked for a quote w the measurements I supplied I was told they had to send away for the quote and it could take 3 days to hear back? He took my info on a piece of scratch paper and I highly doubt I will hear from them..... Better service at Home Depot read more

I bought a Husqvarna lawn tractor at Lowe's. The heat shield under the motor was installed improperly and had nothing to support it on the back end. The shield was supported only by two bolts in the front. After a few hours use, the bolts loosened enough to allow the unsupported rear of the heat shield to drop down. The shield now hanging at an angle and dragging on the ground was bent from the tractor being placed in reverse. It also acted like scoop for the dry grass on the ground. This it did exceedingly well by packing the dry grass against the red hot exhaust header pipe. The grass caught fire and though I had nearly stomped it out, a gust of wind blew it out of control. Luckily I had my cel phone and called 911. This could have been really bad with several houses in the path of the flames. The unbelievable thing to me is the complete denial of responsibility by Lowes management. I pointed out to them 3 tractors on two occasions that had the same defect and could cause fires as mine had. They said that it was not their responsibility. I asked if they intended to sell them in that condition? The answer was " What do you want us to do about it? " I pointed out to the manager that to do so was very dangerous and could cause fire, property damage and possible injury. It was clear that they just wanted me to go away. They told me that they would follow up with Husquvarna and that I could expect hear back from them. .... nothing! .... and they continued to sell multiple of the product with the same defect. Poor customer service is one thing, but such disregard for the safety of the public is quite another!!! Their conduct is inexcusable. WP read more

Tried 3 times for rental unit's newly purchased dishwasher - Tenants were either told that they were on their way or they didn't know what happened and we had to re-schedule twice. I purchased window blinds here today and accidentally left merchandise to return at the Service desk. I realized this mistake about 10 hours later and called back for help. After speaking with someone, I received a call back in 15 minutes, the merchandise had been located, my CC credited and a receipt was emailed to me. The worst customer service I've experienced in some time in the Millworks/siding/garage door department. They were understaffed, which is fine for a Saturday morning (I guess) but there was little or no sense of urgency as the line piled up. They finally called in for backup (supposed management - a guy named Sean).. but the guy who came didn't know how to use the system (big surprise) and the guy who did know the system (Tony) was complacent to just sit there and watch his colleague struggle even as he was aware that we had waited in line for 45 minutes as he slowly dealt with another couple. It's amazing to me how tone deaf customer service has become. We were there with 3 kids (1 newborn) and both employees were content to go at their own pace and ignore the most blatant and glaring customer service issues. Maybe working for Enterprise for 2 years (whose entire focus is quick competent customer service) has set too high a standard for other retail outfits, but the trend toward garbage customer service in all businesses continues. Lowes is apparently no exception. There was no attempt at even apologizing afterward. I've never seen less engaged employees put this little effort into their jobs. This place was so slow, incompetent and inconsiderate, there is literally no way I could even conceive of giving them the responsibility of installing our garage doors, regardless of the cost. Anywhere else is a better option! read more

I never post on yelp, but after this experience I literally have to. Bought a brand new washer and dryer from lowes in cotati. The washer was In stock but the dryer was not. They said they would call me when the dryer arrived in a week. Three weeks later, no call.... so I drove up there because they do not answer every time I tried calling. Waited about 45 mins to find out that they didn't know if it was there. Finally it's located and loaded in the back of my truck. I get home and get it unloaded and unpackaged... it was another washing machine... totally different brand? I'm here now at lowes wasting more time. I really hope they put the dryer that I bought and paid for , not a random washing machine again. Probably the last time I will ever shop at lowes I wish I could give it zero stars, unfortunately that option wasn't available. read more

I have always chosen Lowe's over Home Depot thinking that their service far exceeded HD. Well, after trying to order counter tops I have changed my mind. I received a quote and was told they needed to contact the installer to make sure the product would work for our application. I waited for a week, left 3 messages (never getting a return call). spoke to Alex, my representative in the Kitchen, twice, was told to call back the next day and he still hadn't called the installer. So...he finally decided to call them once I got upset. He called me back and said it won't work!! It took a simple phone call to find out and I could have moved on and saved a week of time. We waited for Labor Day to buy a washer and Dryer and we chose Lowes in Cotati. The line was long that day so after waiting 20 mins we decided to order the pair online once we got home. When I ordered online there was no prompt for installation or haul away so I tried to call both the store and customer service for 2 days and got no answer. I even texted customer service and although I got an automated response that they would be with me shortly, 3 hours later no answer. I did get an automated message saying that the appliances would be delivered tonight between 7 and 9 pm and it's now 920 pm and no appliances. We clearly made the wrong choice. read more

I used to be a big Home Depot customer, but I've been to Lowe's twice the past two days and left a very happy customer! First, their price for peg board was LESS than half the price at Home Depot, and they offered full and half sheets. The only small sheet at Home Depot's was damaged and cost as much as the full sheet at Lowe's. Then there's the melamine-coated thin siding--it was just dirt cheap and fantastic for my needs. Nothing even remotely similar at Home Depot. So... I'm willing to drive the extra 15 miles to Lowe's for the excellent selection/variety and prices. Plus, lots of customer assistants roaming the aisles who offered to take me to the products I needed, as opposed to NO assistants at HD. I've switched. read more

My recent experience in the garden area was very frustrating. I needed wood chips, which I needed assistance to carry out. The cashier (Bonnie) told me to go in the back and find someone in a red vest to help me. I asked her if she could call for assistance, but she said she didn't have that capability. It took me about 15 minutes to find someone in a red vest. At check out I told the cashier that the system was very poor for customer assistance. Her comment was "I am only one, person, I can't do anything about this." I think her comment should have been I will let management know about your frustration in finding someone to help you. The bottom line is that Lowe's needs a better system for finding help with large items that need carry out service. I should mention that the gentleman who carried out my bags of wood chips was very kind and helpful. This would NEVER happen at Friedman's. read more

Nightmare The carpet was not in 4 days after excepted They rolled it to the longest . 15 ft when they told me it was rolled to the 10ft as promised, so pick up was a nightmare .Tried calling into store 3 departments no answer on any lines. On 1/10/2013, I went in to find a Levolor window horizontal blind. Hard to get help, but finally did. I wanted someone to come over and measure the window. They told me someone would call the next morning to set up an appt... DAYS went by and no call...Someone called 5 days later and said they were stuck in L.A. and couldn't get a flight. Finally 1 1/2 wks later they came to measure. They told me to go to the store and pick out what I want. (Which I thought I already did that but OK) I went to the store on 1/27/13. Picked out what I wanted and paid and left. Within 15 mins. I got a call telling me that I should have took the blind with me. HUM.. Had to drive back the next day and pick it up. NOW I am still waiting for a call from the installers to make appt. I wonder how long that will take... This experience has been such a mess, I just can't believe it... I FEEL like taking the blind back and telling them what to do with it.. I finally saved enough money to get a new blind and now this mess. A couple months ago I was looking for motion detector lights and a manager (I can't remember his name but I do remember he was in Lighting and was switching to the Paint Department) was so helpful!!! I am always a bit apprehensive when I consider buying at Lowes. Something always seems to go wrong. Received their advertisement, it had some tile and floor finish I could use. Well first I thought to save time call first. Paint dept, said they didn't have it in yet. Transferred to a manager, he said due to Cal regs they won't have it but he would call back with another product at a good price. No call. Well how bad can the tile go. Found the tile. Price was different than the add. Figured it was a special and they hadn't posted it yet. Check out, they rang it up went to car and thought it was a bit high. Charged the wrong price. I was doing to loads so, back to checker, showed add, charged right price this time but couldn't adjust over charge. Had to go to customer service. They refunded over charge, no mention of ,"gee sorry, or here's a % refund as in market". Complained on their customer survey, never heard back. Moral of story, watch their pricing, especially if on sale. They don't seem to adjust scanner prices for sale goods read more

Went to buy several interior doors, the person in this department did not have a clue about the product and did not know that they were on sale. Further more he was acting as if we were disturbing him and really made it appear that he wasn't to interested in helping us. This would have been a sale of 9 interior doors and 1 exterior door. With the lack of knowledge and ambition we decided that we will take our business elsewhere from now on. read more

Unfortunately there just isn't the staff to assist people at this location. They have some nice product choices over what Home Depot has, but if you can't find anyone to help then it can be challenging. There is always an exception though. Jason in the flooring department has been amazing. He has provided top notch service for a project I'm doing - the kind of service you would expect from a smaller local neighborhood vendor vs a box store. He has attention to detail, product knowledge, intelligence, follow up, and common sense as well as professionalism and a good personality. I will continue to purchase with Jason but it's doubtful that I will be able to deal with another department. I have even called and asked to speak to the store manager for help, but that line rings and rings and no one answers. read more

just had the worst shopping experience I have ever had at this Lowe's in Cotati Ca. We went to the store to buy 63 boards and some stain. We loaded our boards and headed to the check out to leave our very heavy cart in a corner out of the way. But we were redirected to the OPPOSITE side of the store because they have closed the roll up doors and cash register is closed even though the store is open for another 3 HOURS!!! Then we went to the paint counter. We waited for 10 minutes and had to ask two workers for assistance to add the color to the stain. The lady was so put out by our asking for assistance. 10-12 minutes later we finally walked away from the counter to try to cash out. There was only ONE cashier. She had 4 customers in line. But the lady she was assisting was needing significant amounts of her time. She never called for assistance. I walked over to self check to verify if we could cash out in self check with lumber. I had to say "Excuse me " to the lady working there. Rather than face me she kept walking away talking to me over her shoulder. I found out yes I could go to self check but it was necessary for her to scan it it. While we were paying a gentleman at another self check stand was apparently putting the items he scanned on the wrong side of the cash register. She shouted to him once but he didn't hear. She strode over to him, didn't say anything to him, grabbed his items and walked to the other side of the register and slammed them very audibly on the counter! I don't think I will ever give Lowe's my business again!! read more

Needed a new toilet to replace a 44-year-old that used 3 gallons per flush. Wanted a new 1.28 GPF that REALLY WORKED WELL and didn't need to flush twice. Independent test lab reports said Toto brand's Ultramax II was the best. And I wanted one with a handicap height 16.5" to the rim. Nobody in Santa Rosa seemed to have one in stock. Katherine at Lowe's jumped through hoops for me trying to find an extra-high 20" john but they are no longer available. So she special-ordered a 16.5" Toto for me. And helped me decide what options were advisable, such as flex stainless water line yes, synthetic seal ring no (the included wax ring was plenty good enough she said, save my money). And she wrote up the installation for me. The toilet arrived a week later as promised, and 2 days after it arrived it was installed and working perfectly. Thanks, Lowe's.
