I have to say the last owner wasn't particularly nice - the new owners are quite welcoming. There's a huge selection of variety of Rhododendrum's, Japanese maples, Dahlia's and Clivia's with huge redwoods surrounding. The grounds are gorgeous as ever with lovely shaded paths throughout. A new addition is the small shop with soaps and lotions made from herbs. Additionally, we were told by one of the new owners that they know offer event space for weddings. There is no charge to park or to enter the nursery. It seemed like the prices were a bit higher, but for a specialty plant it would be worth it.

After much deliberation over the winter, I returned to purchase a broadleaf Travesia Palmata that unfortunately had already been sold by the time I returned in mid-February. Fortunately, they had more than one and I selected a 4.5 foot version--we love it! The plants at Peacock Horticulture are carefully selected by this friendly awesome duo, so you won't find too many plants they carry at Home Depot or Lowe's. Also, although they have a nice selection of bamboo and palms, their intention is not to compete with the Big 3 local palm/bamboo nurseries.

This particular location has a terrific selection of most types of plants. Lots of edible stuff like veggie starts and fruiting bushes and trees. The majority of the available plants are mix of Mediterranean and CA native landscaping plants with a handful of the standard shrubs/trees you'll find at every nursery in the U.S. like crepe myrtles and ornamental conifers. Also tons of herbaceous flowering perennials ranging from 4" pots up to 5 gallons. Also, a great house plant selection! I also believe this spot deserves some serious credit for their selection of native plants. One of the only spots in California you can readily purchase 4" starts of native annuals as well as cryptic and rare perennials. Just a couple days ago, I saw they were selling tomcat clover! That is just too cool. I also just bought a ground cover cultivar o CA buckwheat I've never even heard of. They clearly have someone in their procurement department who knows a good deal about natives. In terms of dry goods, they have a wide variety of pottery as well as all your standard garden center goods such as fertilizers, pest control, irrigation equipment, and general gardening supplies. What really tickles me is their bulk seeds. They have a full hallway with containers on either side with scoopers where you can buy any Lb amount of these seeds. They have tons of landscaping and pasture grass seed as well as some neat cover crop and cover crop mixes. My only complaint about this section is that not all labels have the scientific names. Some do, which is great since you know exactly the species that is being sold. However, one of the erosion control mix listed an annual "California festuca" and a perennial "California festuca". Unsure what species are being sold or if they are actually CA natives. Ultimately not a big deal and I'm sure the staff would be happy to get me the details. BUT if I made the labels...I may include the scientific name ;) All in all, this store and its other locations are a shining light in a dim world of big box stores selling garbage. You truly can find whatever you need for your projects here. I aways stop in when I'm in the area and buy a handful of things. I'll be a customer for as long as they are around!

We always get flowers, fruit trees, gifts, and Happy Frog dirt here. During this visit we noticed it was bare root season. I remember enjoying beautiful and sweet mulberries from Brentwood a couple years ago and they were selling different varieties so we scooped one up and hope it thrives happily here. Employees are always friendly and helpful whether you come in person or call with questions. Inside they have a nice assortment of seeds, houseplants, fertilizers, books and all sorts of gardening supplies. As we were checking out, I noticed they have barrels of all kinds of potatoes! Always such a well-maintained nursery with a robust inventory of products.

Service is warm, intelligent, and deeply informed. Plant selection for quality native plants is very good. Their plants are a little pricey --(perhaps 10-15% more than Home Depot for example) but they stand behind their plants/products. Any plants or products that don't work out, just bring your receipt and they will give you a store credit or credit your card. Much of the value Harmony offers is in the quality of the products, the plants, and the intelligent service. Seriously, there is nowhere else I could go to find out how to dig up a fern from acidic soil, and properly care for it while it overwinters before planting it under a nearby redwood tree in the Spring! Harmony Farms also carries extraordinarily unique products, such as Stella Natura's biodynamic planting guide and a wide variety of seasonal, organic specialty plants as well as hard-to-find organic soil amendments. Parking is abundant. They're located just off of the Hwy 101/Penngrove exit heading east. A large sign that says "Barn" offers a fairly quick turn on your R into a wide gravel driveway. Enjoy!

They have an amazing collection of healthy plants, succulents, cacti, bonsai trees as well as numerous greenhouses you can walk through filled with all kinds of potted plants. Their selection is varied and not what you would normally see at other nurseries. I've noticed their plants at other stores so they wholesale as well. When the weather is nice, it is a peaceful quiet place to take a leisurely stroll and enjoy the property. Their employees are always very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. It's hard to walk away without a new green friend in your arms. Parking could be tight on Saturdays. Open limited days and hours.

We purchased a very large tree there a few months ago and we overwatered it. OUR FAULT. We needed…read moresome advice on how to save the tree. This is exactly how I explained the situation when I called them for advice. I simply wanted to see if they knew of anything I could do to expedite the process of drying out the root ball so we could get back on track with watering the tree properly and hopefully saving it. In a very dismissive and aggressive manner, she asked if we had looked at the paperwork explaining how they worked etc. etc. I thoroughly explained the situation AGAIN and she again went on about their process and how I should drive over there and pick up a brochure. Wow! I can only presume that she did not have an answer to my question. I worked with a respected landscape architect who warned me about the place explaining how they would never use them again and a contractor who basically said the same. ..........So one might ask why I purchased a tree there, and the answer is simple. The tree was perfect. It's was just what we were looking for and no one else had anything close. Consider everything before working with these people.

It's a huge nursery with different sections depending on what you're looking for. We stopped by on a cold and wet day earlier this year and ended up getting a Fuji apple tree, a small fig plant, a nectaplum spice zee tree and an aprium flavor delight tree. There are rows upon rows of different kinds of citrus and fruit trees. We didn't go to the other areas of the nursery because we already planned out ahead of time what we wanted. If you need help loading your goods to your car the staff is available to give you a hand. My husband even emailed them some questions about the condition of the trees after we planted them and they got back to us with lots of helpful information. I recommend checking them out!
