This is a bit lengthy but necessary for the experience. All I wanted to do was purchase an electric clothes dryer, have it delivered and installed. The first Whirlpool dryer that was delivered, per the delivery driver Gabriel, was supposedly too wide to fit through the rooms door. His suggestion was to find a narrower dryer. The whirlpool dryer was returned to the store. I spoke with Ryan, the appliances department manager, who recommended I come to the store at 7 pm on 9/4 to further discuss the issue. I was at the store promptly at 7 when I was told by one of his colleagues he'd just left for his 45 min dinner break. Poor customer service! I never got a follow up or an apology from Ryan or at a minimum for not being available at the agreed upon time. I eventually spoke with Davian, the assistant manager, who recommended I go with another dryer (an Amana). The Amana arrived today after I waited hours for the delivery. Again, the driver Gabriel reiterated the Amana was still too wide to fit through the laundry room door so it went back to the store. Gabriel even stated the problem in his post-delivery notes. Was it read? I doubt it. This is now twice I've had 2 different dryers delivered and told they wouldn't fit. So again, I returned to the store addressing my concerns to Davian (asst. mgr) who said the only remedy was to remove the molding on the door. How did the old dryer come out so easily yet 2 different models would not? I need a dryer so I've no other choice but to try and remove the door molding and see if that suffices. I would highly suggest avoiding buying appliances from this store as I felt the customer service and appliance personnel were severely lacking in various areas. Go to a local appliance store like Bouchard-Pierce, Best Buy' or Home Depot. read more

Adam (tall bald guy with tattoos) from appliances might be the worst training support person I've ever worked with at Lowes. I've purchased multiple refrigerators and stoves this year so when I went back for a new stackable washer dryer I thought it would be a breeze. Adam helped me select from a few stackable washer dryer options and then when we landed on a front load model, we go to ring everything up and purchase the install package. Later, I would find out that he did not add the install package, but charge us for all the parts that his team would've needed to make the install. And then get this. The whole time we were looking at stackable options and this dude didn't even think to add the kit required to make this a stackable washer.. so on the day we were supposed to get our unit the guys told me they couldn't install the washer dryer and just left it on our back porch and said that we would need to go in to order that part and have a team come back out and reinstall it. I'm not sure how other installations go, never had a problem in the past, but I would hope in the future the team is trained on what items are needed to make the install happen. Worst experience by far in working with Lowes. If you see Adam coming your way to help, run away, try to avoid him at all costs. read more

The customer service representative had to call the acting store manager because she said "we don't have a store manager because they walked off the job yesterday." if that doesn't say some thing about this location and organization I don't know what else does. As far as value and selection, I made a purchase for a multi pack of two different items and the website, specified a Price, apparently, which was incorrect, and the store was not willing to make it right by honoring the purchase, instead insisting that I take what they are offering or a refund. My family purchased a dishwasher this past May with installation included & a five year warranty. The dishwasher has not appropriately drained since purchase. We have spent countless HOURS on the phone trying to get it replaced, only for each person to tell us to contact another party. We have been told five or six times to expect delivery and have yet to get our product replaced. Lowe's is operating a scam and has zero interest in their customers or the products they are peddling. Drove 25 miles to store only to find that 0 were in stock, though 2 employees confirmed that their system did indeed still show 6 available. So drove 50 miles roundtrip ($12 gas!) and wasted an hour of my time. Checked back online several hours later and it still showed 6 available. Neither of the employees took the initiative to get the on hand balance changed so that another potential customer wouldn't waste their time and $'s. read more

The red haired girl at customer service is exceedingly rude , dismissive , and displays very rude facial expressions when asked a question. These kids don't want to do ANYTHING. They show up , that's about it. Just recently moved to Essex Junction , and with the store literally a 5 minute walk , it's a shame that I'll never be back , at least at that Lowe's location. I placed a $3k lumber order june 6 for delivery June 27, when it didn't arrive I called and was told their flatbed was down, they borrow south burlingtons on weekends, and I would need to wait until July 9. I just called to confirm delivery tomorrow and was told I now need to wait until the end of August. I requested to speak with the manager, Tim, who informed me the truck had been down for a year and I should consider myself "lucky" to only have to wait 2 more months. how could a big box store use a broken truck as an excuse for an entire year? Our fridge was in dire straits and close to breaking down entirely. It was memorial day weekend and there were some big deals. We did a ton of research and headed into the store to order the fridge we wanted. We picked it out, went to the counter, made the order. Everything was smooth... Or was it? Our delivery was scheduled for 6/15/20 but at 6pm on 6/14/20 we received a call stating our fridge was not in stock and that they would not be able to deliver it until 6/19/20. They did not advise of a time or any further info. Having had to take the day off on the 15th and now on the 19th, we called the delivery office repeatedly between 15th and the 18th. We finally got in touch with someone who advised that we would get a call on the 18th from the delivery department and they would advise us of a time. Less than convenient but ok, we need this fridge. 6/18/20 rolls around and we never get a call. 6/19/20 goes by and our fridge never comes. My wife calls them and is treated like absolute crap. I am sitting next to her while they talk down to her and treat her like she is stupid for calling. Come to find out, when they didn't deliver our fridge on 6/15/20 they had printed something called a loading slip that basically clears the transaction, stating it is complete. So there was no plan. My wife called again and spoke with the supervisor in delivery who advised he was going to look into it and get back to her, the phone call never came. I then called and spoke with him. He assured me that the fridge would be delivered on fathers day, he promised us a 10% discount added to our purchase and that he wasn't sure why we were told there were none in stock, there were 3 of them in stock and he visually confirmed. Fathers day came and went and still no fridge. When we called to ask them about it, Andrew the supervisor, had not left a single note or done anything with it. We spoke with the store manager and they had no idea what we were talking about and it was Andrew's day off. After several long stints of being on old (one of them almost 30 minutes) they assured us a $200 dollar discount and that the fridge would be delivered. They tried to set up delivery again during the work week and I insisted that I had already taken time off from work, I had already taken time to follow up, and I was not going to be taking any further time off. They worked it out to deliver on the following weekend. (we purchased the fridge on memorial day weekend and it is now looking like it will be here on the 28th of June) We were told the delivery guys would call us the night before to set up a time range. Again, the call never came. The 28th has come and suddenly we get a call stating they will be there in 20 minutes. My wife and I have to empty out the entire contents of the fridge and get it ready to be removed and the new one installed. Thankfully, the fridge is coming! The guys show up, they were very polite and quick, the come in, ask to borrow a few of my tools to install the fridge. They hook everything up, drag off the old one and leave. I start looking closely at the fridge, only to notice that the door handles on the fridge are not mounted evenly and when they were installing it, they put giant scratches all over the front of our stainless steel fridge around the handle. I take a deep breath and honestly, i am just relieved that its here and its installed and the old one isnt leaking all over the place anymore. It has now been a week and a half since delivery and two and a half weeks since we spoke with a manager (Beverly, I believe) and we have not received any credit for the discount that was allegedly going to be applied to the purchase of the fridge. I went to the Essex store and purchased some mulch on sale. I bought 16 bags. But wanted to buy more. At 78 years old, hefting the amount I wanted to buy was too much effort so my decided to order and was directed to online, since the delivery was $79,00 and stated to be only 2 days out, I ordered 45 - 2 cu ft bags. On day of delivery, I called to try to learn what time the delivery would be, but a recorded message said delivery would be between 8AM and 8PM. I waited into afternoon, and contacted delivery who said between 6 and 8PM. But, It never was delivered!!!! I called and an employee said they are out 3 weeks!!!!! Today, I drove to the Essex store, quite upset from lack of delivery during a 12 hour window, during which I waited. I felt totally disrespected, not a valued customer. Today I stormed into Lowe's. In person was a 180 degree change. Customer service was very understanding and accommodating. The delivery manager had worked though her day off to package the deliveries. But only one delivery driver was available for 3 hours, due to their regular driver, a National Guardsman's call to duty. We were able to work out an agreeable solution, and Lowe's was very reasonable. I took another 15 bags with me, they reduced delivery fee and will deliver 30 bags on Monday. I have shopped at Lowes in Essex since it's opening and because they cater to Veterans. However, I have seen a steady decline in their customer service especially in the past year. Their inventory is unorganized and good luck with a quick in-store pickup. Takes a long time to locate what you ordered and then question you if it's really in because, "there are no notes in the system." Additionally, I ordered custom made vanities with the expectation of a two week delivery. I have been waiting six weeks and found that The 'custom build" is not really custom and shipped from California. As of this morning my delivery states it is in Oklahoma, but I live in Vermont. I would never do custom made business with a business in California. I would have kept it local. I also had custom made kitchen cabinets made and delivered to my home. All though I provided kitchen specs to Lowes from my builder, the cabinets were three inches too long. My builder had to extend a wall to accommodate the Lowes cabinet design error. I also received two separate designs of crown molding. Called Lowes to report their mix-up and order correct molding only to be told that they made an error in cost and that I owed another $100. I was like not my problem sale is final. Last, I am a Gulf War Veteran but Lowes at first would not recognize my veteran status. I have a VA card showed the cashier and asked why? She stated that since it's not a service connected disability that I don't "qualify as a real veteran," her words. I spoke to the manager who apologized and recognized my veteran status. Point is, educate your employees. I shouldn't have to prove my veteran status to anyone, especially to part-time minimum wage employee who obviously has a dislike of veterans. read more

The two women working at the front desk by the entrance and exit around 1 pm on 1/27/21 were two of the most rude people I have ever come into contact with. I spent close to $100 in the store, and as I was leaving, I was stopped at the door and rudely ordered to show them my receipt as other customers left the store freely. They asked me if I "had even paid for my order". I did not get a receipt, as I do not like the extra trash or chemicals that are used in that paper and when I told them that, I was lead through the store by them back to the register I checked out at where the cashier gave them a strange look and told them he had checked me out moments earlier. They really don't want our business. Well over two weeks ago we began the process of ordering 1156 sq ft of flooring with installation... a big job, no? We still have no date. After several errors in the estimating process we signed a contract only to be told the following day that it was underpriced by over $850. We have been trying to pay that additional amount ever since and no one at Lowe's has a clue how to take our money, We have been there 4 times and made numerous calls to follow up all the broken promises for call backs, even from the department manager. We can't get through to even get the store manager's name. So, we went to Corporate and sent an email to a link on their website. Returned as undeliverable... Oh, and by the way, they denied us the opportunity promo for the interest free credit card because they submitted the incorrect address for us, even with our driver's license in-hand. I agree with previous reviews concerning the lack of good customer service. In my case I was calling to inquire about obtaining a $35 refund for a service that hadn't been scheduled yet and for which I had a receipt. I made three phone calls, spoke to three different associates, got some snippy comments back from one of the associates who also promised I would receive a call back. I never did. If you want good service by people who know what they are doing, don't go to Lowe's on the Susie Wilson Road. We purchased a washer from them with the promise of delivering it on Friday, March 3. We received a computer generated call the night before saying they would be here between 9 and 2. my husband had to take the day off from work and waited. By 4 my husband called and was told our washer never made it on the truck. in fact, they couldn't find it. We were assured that we would receive a call the following day. My husband called them the next afternoon and talked to 2 different employees who were clueless as how to help resolve this. On Sunday he finally talked to a manager who was going to get back to him about finding us another machine. He didn't call back but my husband managed to get him on the phone this morning, now Tuesday, 11 days after purchasing the washer and told him to refund our money. On November 9th 2020 we purchased a washer and dryer. The washer was in stock and we took it with us that day. We were told the dryer would need to be ordered and would arrive the end of December or the beginning of January. We were ok with that. It is now April 29, 2021 and they are telling us it will at least September. To say the least we asked for a refund. But we also punched the extended warranty on both appliances at the time of purchase (11/20). Of course we asked for a portion of that to be refunded also. Oh no we have to request that on our own. Remember we paid Lowe's for all this at the time of purchase. Now the part of Lowe's that offers the warranty will not allow us to only be refunded the portion for the dryer, they can only cancel the whole agreement. And to top it all off not allowed to purchase one for the washer because it is pass thirty days. Anyone reading through all this buy local. We went and out and purchased the exact same dryer we have been waiting for, for five months. Purchased the exact same dryer from a local business Learn from my mistake always buy local. I am not very happy with Lowe's. I brought my 80 year old Dad (who is by the way, a veteran) into the store because he wanted an air compressor. I have always preferred Lowe's over Home Depot. When he showed his military ID, he was told he needed to have a My Lowe's account with a card attached. It used to be that when you checked out, you could show ID and get a military discount. In these days of massive data breaches and stolen identities, Lowe's wants the senior veterans to sign up online and attach a credit card. Really???? SO un-impressed. My husband and I were in here on Saturday evening to pick out track lighting for our new walk-in closet. We stood at the display but had a few questions. My husband said the guy at the desk seemed to have some idea we wanted help because he looked at us and then walked the other direction! Okay, fool me once, whatever. Ten minutes later, we're still standing there, debating the options and Mr Lighting finally wanders around to our aisle but says he's helping someone and will be back when he's through. Another ten minutes go by, he comes back into our aisle, walks right passed us, putters with a display further down the aisle and seems totally oblivious to the fact that we STILL WANT HELP. At this point, we're fuming and we both said FORGET IT. We'll order online. I have never had problems at Lowe's before so this was a first. I noticed his nametag if anyone at Lowe's feels like getting in touch with me.... OH and apparently, the one bit of info we did get from him in the 30 seconds we had his attention is that a lot of the stock on display does not match what they have in store in the shelves below. A number of the items we saw and liked were on clearance and they no longer had them in stock - Um, what is the POINT? Lowe's needs to get their act together - consumers don't want to be confused by shoddy, inaccurate displays or they will go elsewhere. Just about every time I go in there looking for something specific they either don't have it or are asking a ridiculous price when I compare to the local competitors (Ace, Aubuchon). I like this Essex Lowe's and generally appreciate the service. Today, however, I was disappointed to have bad service. An employee, Emily, covering the cash register was not providing good customer service. I had gift cards for a $250 order and one of them worth $100 would not scan at the customer card reader. She tried it one time on her register then handed the card back to me and said there was nothing more she could do because it would not automatically scan. I have had times in the past where a card would not work and the employee simply manually entered the serial numbers on the back, but she apparently did not feel like it. Another cashier came and took over and got the card to work for me instead. I asked for an employee to help me load the heavy item in my vehicle, the cashier turned to Emily who said she would call a "loader." I stood there several minutes in front of the register waiting as Emily conversed with another employee about personal things. Neither acknowledged my waiting. I then asked the male employee if he could help me load the item quickly. He said for me to go outside and pull my car upfront and a "loader" would do it, apparently he did not want to load items himself. I pulled up outside and waited, no one came. I saw an employee in the lot retrieving shopping carts and I went and asked him for help, which he did well and I finally left. This customer service was not acceptable. I had wanted to purchase mums, and when I asked where the flatbed carts were, the response I got was,"over there!" Fine I get it, I'll get my own cart while carrying a baby and three plants. I was offered no help to load my truck, rather was told to move my purchases so the weren't in the way for other customers.. WHAT???? I bought 11 potted plants....WHAT?? When I moved to Vermont from Phoenix, AZ I had purchased a home that was more than I expected I cannot tell you how much Lowe's help me get through this trouble time with this house. They went completely above and beyond any customer service expectations that I have ever experienced in my 55 years of life. Anyone that has left a bad review about this store has just experienced a person that had a bad day. Like they haven't had a bad day. The customer service at the store is bar none exceptional service.... superb. Kevin and his team are crazy awesome. Furthermore I would like to point out to the hierarchy that you should embrace this store as being a top store and I would recommend that you make this store a model store that other stores can follow.
