Lowes' online systems are horrendous, and you'll spend hours waiting for their phone personnel.
    Glenn P.

Lowes said its Langhorne store had 3 pressure gauges. I ordered one and went to pick it up. When I got there, they said they had none, and they had sent my order to Warminster -- a half hour away. I asked a Lowes employee about it. He said, "Don't believe the inventory you see online. It's all f-ed up." I asked, "May I quote you on that?" He said, "Yeah, my name is Frank. Management knows how I feel about this." I went back to my holiday party. I canceled the order online, and was presented with a message that said, "Something's broken on our end and we were unable to cancel your item." I tried the text service, which is operated by a witless robot. After bombarding the robot with texts, it found someone who might help. His advice was to call the 800 number since he could do nothing. The 800 number said that wait times are long, but they would call back in 2.5 to 3.5 HOURS. I have already received the item I wanted from Amazon, which operates like a dream. How can Lowes even exist if it can't manage a pickup order AND if it can't cancel an order that it screwed up in the first place? Who will shop there? I will tell me children's children not to shop at Lowes -- if it even exists in 20 years. How much ill will does Lowes want to generate for a $10 sale? How many employee hours will Lowes waste on a $10 sale that they will never collect because -- in the worst case -- I'll just tell my credit card company that they never delivered? Lowes is an exercise in customer alienation and inefficiency. How BAD can one company be?

During several of my visits to Lowes this Summer I can't tell you how many times I have seen this employee SITTING somewhere in the garden center on her phone on a personal call. Today these three employees were on a video call with a small child/baby on their cell phone. See attached photo and video where you can hear part of their conversation. There were customers looking for assistance but they were too busy on a personal phone call. Are Lowes employees allowed to sit around on personal calls while at work? #Lowes

Manager of the year on the right in this photo! Absolute horrible customer service from this woman.

Leashed and friendly dogs are allowed inside the modern tasting room and outside at the impressive patio and we enjoyed our visit on a boisterous Sunday afternoon. The management is cognizant of how dogs may interact with each other and may suggest that if other dogs are inside maybe it will be better to sit outside, but it is all up to your comfort level. We really enjoyed this craft distillery, makers of vodka, gin, and rum that deliciously feature their liquors in hand crafted cocktails. A customer favorite is the "Famous Drilled Orange" where a hole is drilled into a fresh orange and filled with vodka. You have a choice of a grapefruit and also a liquor-free version. The Lady Guava rum-based drink is also so delicious and there is a whole list of cocktails to choose from. They also offer local beer, wine, mead, and non-alcoholic options. A soft pretzel, personal pizza, and mixed nuts are available for purchase and you can also bring your own food. There is a free parking lot right next door off Basin Street. We were so happy that one of our most supportive followers was also hanging out at Hops and Hardware and recognized us: Dave B., and his pups Dozer & Pugsley! It was fun to catch up and we appreciate meeting others who love hanging out with their dogs and supporting small businesses.

The store is highly organized and offers a surprisingly wide array of items for its size. What truly distinguishes it, however, is its staff. They are knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely helpful. Walking in with a problem, they'll help you think through the best solution. Often, the advice alone makes the trip worthwhile, with the purchase being a bonus. In an age where almost everything can be ordered instantly online, places like this still play an essential role. Some issues require judgment and experience, not just a quick online search. The team here clearly knows their craft and is happy to share their expertise. What I especially value is their honesty. They never try to pressure you into buying unnecessary items. If they don't carry what you need, they'll tell you and often point you toward where to find it. Such confidence and integrity are rare. While large stores like Home Depot have vast inventories, for smaller or specialized items, especially related to older Center City homes, this store is often the better choice. Prices are fair, and the quality of guidance enhances the overall value. It's evident that this store is run with pride, care, and years of expertise. It has genuine character, and I hope the neighborhood appreciates it as much as I do. I'm always impressed when I visit. Thank you!

Last week they went above and beyond, clearly deserving of media mention. Last summer I purchased a Weber Grill. I immediately had an issue with the casters not working. I called Ernie who dispatched his crew to retrieve the grill and try to fix it. It was missing many screws and one of the casters had fallen off. The crew brought back the grill, supposedly fixed but I have had difficulty with the same casters since last year. They will lock in place, and not stay unlocked thus making it almost impossible to move my grill. Finally, last week one of the casters just broke off entirely. This was two days before my July Fourth cookout. I called Ernie back and he immediately remembered me and dispatched another crew to assess the situation . When the crew arrived, they realized they would again have to take the grill back to the shop. A few hours later I got a call from Mike asking me if I wanted to have the repair done by Weber under the warranty or if I wanted them to try to put on new casters. I told them to put on universal casters because I did not want the same casters from Weber. A few hours later I got a call from Mike telling me the repair was complete and could they drop off the grill. I said sure and how much did I owe them. I was then informed I didn't owe them anything. I cannot thank them enough. I especially want to shout out Ernie, Mike and the owners , Mark and Alex Jaconski who run an exceptional business.

They really go the extra mile when it comes to customer service. Stanley's is the classic small business the neighborhood wants to keep in place for their needs big and small. I've been blessed that I haven't had too many emergencies in my house but knowing a Stanley's run can be done quick sets my mind at ease. The best I can do to support them is to continue to visit in those non-emergency moments like when I need a key made or a small piece of hardware.
