Okay, I'm a fan of this Lowe's location in-particular. Lowe's itself is a dependable brand when it comes to customer service, reliable stock, and store upkeep. The weekends are much busier than over the weekend, so I always prefer a weekday. Selections of say; nuts & bolts, pipe fittings, fixtures, lumber, you get the drift, are much less elbow to elbow, and service is much more plentiful. Keep your eye on the sales via their app notifications and email for increased valve for your over worked dollar. Returns are even a notable service, just make sure you remember a paper receipt and/or which credit card is used if it's to be credited back - this has been my pitfall at times. read more

In this Lowe's, the sales people are not helpful or do they care to be. In general they seem to be miserable.

This afternoon we went to Lowes and saw a fridge that was discounted as you walk out of checkout - there were no holds or stickers on the item when we first went. We asked some questions with customer service about if we could still buy the warranty on it and then went home to measure our space and decide. We came back about 2 hours later (around 6pm) with a truck and money in hand. Upon arrival, there was still no sticker on the fridge and it was still sitting outside checkout with all the other discount items. My husband went to purchase it and he was told that someone came around 1pm and was interested so they couldn't sell it. My husband said, "well I have a truck and money in hand now". The appliance manager then told him to calm down for no reason. They made it a point to say well the guy wanted other things so they were getting pricing for him. However, he never paid for anything or signed anything saying he'd buy it. In fact, they called the person with my husband there to see if he wanted it, but still took no payment! When my husband got home, he told me and I called to speak with the manager who was apparently on break for an hour. I had a feeling that 1 hour didnt seem right as most people get 30 minutes and had a feeling he'd be leaving since it was getting later, so I had my husband call back and he got connected to the manager. We spoke with the manager, Thyan, who was kind, but absolutely unhelpful. He simply said they were creating an estimate for someone for multiple items including that fridge and it should've been taken off the floor and their employee made a mistake. He offered to help us find another fridge, but I informed him the features and price of this fridge were appealling so unless he was going to discount another of the same it wouldn't matter. I also asked what the policy was regarding these types of items because they normally don't hold unless you pay. He wasnt able to tell me the policy and said I can find it online which I said I had already tried to do. He said he would try to find it and email it to me which leads me to believe they dont even know their own policy. At the end of the day, an estimate is absolutely 100% not a deposit or payment. I asked if I had asked them to hold it for me without paying would they and I received no response. Not sure if someone personally knows the other customer or not, but this is insane. If you're employee made a mistake you should be making it right by matching it on another one. Normal people can't afford such a high price item (online normally about $3,499 and down to $1,150). That is a HUGE difference. The employees who made the supposed mistake gets to go home no problem while we get axed. Regardless, they should never be gate keeping an item for someone who has absolutely not paid a dime for it. Even if they put together an estimate. An estimate is an invoice, not a guarantee or signed agreement. We are sincerely upset and unsatisfied that they would act in such bad faith. I get they'll make more money potentially for the other items, but that should not matter if an item is not paid for. I have never in my life been to any business in which they just magically hold items without them being paid for. I will be calling corporate and am awaiting the policy from the manager because I am pretty sure this isnt how these items should be handled. read more

Did you know Lowe's is a Pepsi store? I guess it goes with their aesthetic, but pure sadness when you're looking for a post-movie theater drive pick me up. It's a pretty big Lowe's, and seems pretty clean. Tools are everywhere, organized by aisle. Lots of blue, which is soothing in its way. No one asked what I was doing, and why I was leaving after looking sadly at the drink cooler. The parking lot was well lit, with free standing flashing light as well as the traditional street lamp look. read more

No stars. A zero. All I wanted to do was go into a store and learn more about a washing machine so that I could purchase one. I learned and I purchased. Nothing was right after that. The 4 hour window of 7:00am to 11:00am TODAY came and went. No washing machine. The driver called to see that he had a note to pick up an appliance, NOT deliver one. OMG. I called the PLAINVILLE store a couple of days ago just to go over everything. I told the associate that I was coming into the store on Sunday, June 1st. But I didn't feel good so I wasn't able to. I felt so lousy that I did not even check my phone messages until MONDAY at 7:00pm. Just now. The store manager said that the appliance I purchased was damaged and that it wouldn't be delivered. She asked me to come in to get a different washer. I spent all the energy learning about the washing machine I wanted to get. I just called the PLAINVILLE store to cancel the order. They couldn't even do that. Please know that I did everything correctly and did not get a new washer today. HELP! Let me start by saying Lowe's home improvement is BELOW Zero Stars! I purchased a Zoeller pump at the end of October, at the time of purchase I asked if returning after 90 days would be a problem because of the holidays and they said "not a problem at all". I went to return the pump today and they said they can't because of the new policy that started January first. I get you want to update your policies but if the purchase was made prior to this change the customer should be grandfathered in! I mean we are talking 10 days here not months! I purchased over $100.00 worth of miscellaneous hardware items at the Plainville, CT Lowe's store today. Very disappointed to learn there are NO SHOPPING BAGS provided to carry all your purchases to your car!! Are you kidding me? Lowe's is my go to store for a lot of different things, from screws to laundry detergent. All our home improvements we shopped here. Prices are fair, military discount is a major bonus, staff when found is helpful. I recently purchased a washer and dryer. The units were installed in my bathroom where the set up was just created by a plumber. The delivery/installation team removed the mechanical vent from the vent pipe and hooked the washing machine into that pipe - leaving the ready and open pipe just sitting there. I have been living with a bathroom odor since 1/22/22 when they installed it - and today while folding laundry - I discovered the pipe and sent a photo to my plumber who advised me what was wrong. Both he and I are horrified at the level of incompetence that was required for someone to make this mistake with a washing machine installation. I have sewer gasses in my house. This is a serious health hazard and left unattended to, could even be fatal! This is so unacceptable, I am beyond angry. I will be posting this story on every website I can find. When I contacted Lowe's, I was advised that they would send someone from the delivery company to fix the problem. There was a little empathy from the manager - but when I spoke with HIS manager - I did not even get an apology. Lowe's clearly does not care about their customers or I would have received much more in the way of assurances and compensation. I would like to be assured that more training will be given to installers. Perhaps they need a different installation company. Finally, this team of people that did the installation should no longer work for the company. I will endeavor to find more people higher up at Lowes to tell also. read more

I'm very torn with this review as the first 30 minutes not a single customer associate approached nor offered to be of service. I requested twice for an associate to help & I was told someone would be over to the light section and no one showed. I was having a very difficult time finding the correct outside light fixtures & light bulbs. Moments before leaving my full cart, Jean, a very friendly sales associate stopped and asked if I needed help despite it not being his area. He walked me over to the lightbulbs and offered his advice on the two I should choose. During this time my young son was getting very fidgety and Jean was very engaging him. I'm giving 4 stars because normally they have what I need. I took one star away for knowledge and staffing. I understand that in 2022 it's difficult to get new staff but at least train the ones you have well. There costumer service skills suck. Unlike depot lowes doesn't bring in knowledgeable dept heads like lic plumbers or electricians so sometimes trying to get a question answered is impossible. I placed an order for a Garage Ready 7-cu ft Manual Defrost Chest Freezer Item#688378 on 3/12/20. This order was placed online and I received confirmation that my order was being processed and that the estimated delivery for the item would be 3/28/20. On 3/25, I received an email from Lowe's stating my delivery window for the 3/28 order. On 3/27, I received a phone call from the delivery company advising that they would be delivering my items between 10-2 on the 28th. This morning I waiting for the delivery, and when it didn't arrive by 2pm, I called the Plainville, CT Lowes (listed as the Fulfilling location) asking about the delivery status. After giving the associate my information, she advised that she saw the order and that they were likely behind schedule, but that my order would be delivered by 8pm. After waiting all day, I finally called Lowes again at 7:51pm, and was advised that my order wouldn't be received until June 15th, because it is out of stock. It was NOT out of stock when I purchased it (other items were), nobody from Lowes emailed or called that it was out of stock, and the associate I spoke with earlier today, nor the delivery company, knew this items was out of stock. Lowes sent me a confirmation that the item was coming days ago, and yet we are being told we will not receive the item. I was literally told "yeah, it was on our end...maybe we showed we had the item, but we really didn't...that happens sometime...sorry about that", never mind that this is an actual need and when we purchased the item we stopped shopping for it, because we thought we could depend on Lowes. I am still confused as to how this happened. Was my item given to someone else in error? How is it that you are confirming orders and delivery of orders, and yet they are not in stock? Something happened here on Lowes' end, and as the customer I am the one being punished for it. I have never been more disappointed in a company than I am with Lowes right now. People are in a rush now to get items, and perhaps Lowes doesn't care about my business now, but I will never recommend nor purchase another items from Lowes again. This isn't about making a mistake. I needed assistance with a deadbolt. Waited for a while (10 min or so) for an associate to walk by to ask for assistance. Then went looking for associate. Asked an associate who was filling the soda machine if anyone could help me . She said she would send someone to meet me at the lock area. No one showed. Went in search again, found associate walking around. Asked about locks. He said that was the hardware guy and he would send him over. Again waited. No show again. Went to service desk. Repeated need for assistance. Went back to area. Watched three different associates walk by me and assist three other folks in the same aisle and then leave. After 45 minutes I left. I purchased cabinets at the Lowe's store in Plainville, CT and used the virtual design team along with the contractors they use. The design went well and I received all of the cabinets that I ordered. My problems began with the contractor that Lowe's assigned to install my new cabinets, I believe that company is A Better Way Home Improvement. This guy whose name is Jared, cracked the frame on one cabinet, drilled holes for the false drawer on the vanity cabinet and chipped out the majority of the doors where he drilled for the hardware. I've contacted the "Installation Support Team" several times at this store to fix or replace the items that were damaged and after 2 months have had no response. I've been told that they are "working" on resolving this but I've been ghosted. Horrible customer service, nothing but a bunch of fraudulent folks that work in this Installation Support Team, especially the manager. read more

We went in looking for an outdoor table. No one around to help. Finally found someone but he was from a different department and tried to help, but could not help. He called his supervisor but the supervisor walked by us TWICE and said he was too busy to help us. Then found someone that told us there were 4 tables in stock.. but couldn't find any of them. Summer furniture was literally stuck on 3 different rows of shelving and not in any order. After looking for almost 30 minutes we decided to take a different table. Still no sign of the supervisor even though he was called again. Brought the table we ended up buying home.. it was damaged, and warped. We brought the table back but girl at the returned desk was rude and did not want to help us at all. She finally refunded our money and actually threw the money at us. I'm ok with Lowes but I prefer Ace hardware or Home Depot. However, I was quite impressed with the selections and options they have there. I was going there today to purchase a smart lock. There were so many to choose from it took me 20 minutes to make my decision. I was also blown away with the large selection of grass seed and rose feed! But there's some blemish. Went in for some plumbing parts for a sprinkler system. I had a return with no SKU on it, so I went back to the plumbing dept to get the SKU. The plumbing associate told me the don't have that product. Ok some stores don't carry all products. Moving on, I wanted some hose barb fittings in plastic, "don't have those". Ok, found them myself in front of him, no comment from him. He directed me to another location he suddenly recalled for the hose parts, lo and behold the return product in question was there! Guy had absolutely NO CLUE about any stock, and I'm very surprised since he was an older gentleman. If you are unsure about stock, "I'm not sure" works alot better than "No, we don't have that"! My HD refrigerator broke down last night at 9 pm on a Saturday! I went to Lowe's and found a great replacement at a decent price. The representative in the department listened to my situation and tried everything he could to get it on the truck to deliver it the next day. He even called the manager to see if he could push it through. The 3rd party delivery truck said they couldn't fit it on the truck till Monday and Lowe's called me to let me know. Even though it won't arrive until Monday I really appreciated their extra effort, it demonstrates the great customer service you can expect at Lowe's. read more

Terrible! I ordered on Monday(online) fencing and it advised that my parts would be delivered the following Monday. I figured okay that fine. When the email confirmation came in, it then stated that it wouldn't be delivered until Wednesday. I immediately called customer serviced and explained how the website said it would be available Monday and now I'm being told Wednesday. She stated that since these are "special order" that it takes longer but she guaranteed me that they would receive the parts Monday, take a day to repackage them and then deliver them Wednesday. My response "okay I get that, seems reasonable." Wednesday morning comes (the delivery day) I get a call advising me that I won't be getting any of my parts because 2 items (one being the metal rods that goes in the posts) are still not ready and they cannot tell me when I will be getting my delivery. I call Lowe's Plainville and speak with the delivery department and am told "well that's what happens when you order online, and sorry there's nothing I can do. Do you want us to ship what we have?" How would that help?! You're missing a key part!! At this point, there is not date to when my items still be shipped and my fiancée and I are wasting our vacation time off from work because Lowe's advertises that they will ship your parts one day but truly they don't know when they will ship anything. After spending $4k I would have appreciated any notification ahead of time. At no point, did they call in advance of my delivery day to warn me that I would not be receiving my parts. I do have to agree with the two other reviews, regarding it being a Lowes ultimately. That being said, the Plainville location does really seem to have its act together. Especially in comparison to the surrounding Lowes, and Home Depot locations(Southington, Waterbury, Bristol, etc..). The associates provide a very high level of service and information overall, in my experience. I live in Waterbury, and skip the handful of HD/Lowes locations that are far closer to me. My boyfriends father purchased a new stove for us and we were given a delivery estimate of "late in the week." Late in the week turned in Sunday. The stove arrived on Sunday, but the delivery guys did not even bother knocking on the door, they instead walked around the building yelling "Stove Delivery" disturbing my neighbors. The stove that was delivered was damaged. We went to the store and looked at the floor model, decided to buy that one instead. They gave us a very hard time about working with a delivery date we could do. With the stove being damaged upon delivery I feel they should have made more of an effort to accommodate us, not the other way around. The delivery was set to be done BY 3pm on Thursday. Wednesday night we received a phone call saying it would be done between 3-5pm, causing me to be late to work. Thursday rolls around and we are told the stove won't be delivered until even later than that. This forced us to have to reschedule the delivery for Friday, again leaving us with no stove. This lack of concern for customer schedules is completely beyond belief. I would not recommend dealing with them for purchases on any big appliances. Stick to buying paint. read more

I have had several experiences shopping here in person, and on-line. While the staff are great, it seems they are not as well trained by management is the staff with their main competitor. Management issue. The communication within the chain of command breaks down at several levels, which hinders the shopping and prolongs time in the store. I'm writing this review solely on their delivery methods. They outsource to a company called 3PD. 3PD then outsources to local delivery companies. No big deal - I can deal with that. The big deal is that 3PD is terrible. They will lie to your face about reasons for delays. I had a refrigerator delivered recently and my first delivery time was between 8-10. At 9:15 3PD called me to tell me that there was a 'glitch' in their system and the real delivery time was between 3:30 and 5:30. At 1:30, they called to say the driver is running an hour behind so the new delivery would be between 4:30 and 6:30. At 6 they (3PD) called to tell me that the driver is another hour behind and wouldn't be there until 7:30. At 7:15 the driver called to tell me could he come the next day and I promptly refused. I called Lowes and threatened to cancel my order. Next thing I know I am speaking to their manager on duty who said the driver is at the store and loading my fridge and will be on his way momentarily. What? Shouldn't it be loaded already? He then told me that due to the driver's assistant not showing up today another one had to come up so they didn't get started until 12:30. Now at 7:45 3PD calls me to tell me unfortunately the driver truck broke down and they needed to reschedule. I told her she's a liar and he's at the store. She tried to back pedal and did a poor job of it. They finally showed up to my place at 8 and when I questioned the driver he told me that 3PD will say anything. Nice, huh? He also implied that the only reason he was bringing my fridge was because I threatened to cancel my order and he'd be charged back for that out of his pay. Nice business practice. Terrible company to deal. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING THAT REQUIRES DELIVERY FROM LOWES. 3PD does business with other large companies so BEWARE. Check 3PD reviews and you will see!!
