This is my go-to store when I'm looking for anything home related. My most recent visit I was looking for a screen to replace these screen on our outdoor patio so I learned that there are different types of screens so definitely take note of the pictures that I posted. But I love it here for the flowers and plants. Service is always on point someone is always available willing to help at least that's my experience. The selection is plentiful. If they don't have anything here usually another Lowes has whatever you're looking for and the value is always top-notch as well. Sign up for their Rewards program it's super beneficial. The vast majority of people in Suffolk are good natured and friendly. I would go as far as to say 99% of the population fits this description. But walk into the local Lowe's and you wouldn't know it. While there are good people here, the chances of running into an angry, rude or nutty staff member is about 100%. Speak with management and they will assure you that change is coming, but it never really does. Take for example the exit Nazis at checkout. One young woman behaves like the bad cop in a bad film, losing her composure and barking orders at customers who dare to ask her a question. Worse, question her poor behavior and she responds in full fight mode. But complaints don't register, remediation goes unheard and she's still here. Definitely not okay in a business with the public. Add just one other hardware store, say Home Depot, to downtown Suffolk and Lowe's will vanish along with its horrible customer relations. And with luck it's bad employees will go with it. read more

This Lowe's has the rudest employees that I have met in a retail store, maybe ever. I asked a group of three employees in the back of the store where I could find polycarbonate screens. They told me to look in the aisle with window and fiberglass screens. I found what I was looking for, then I returned to them and asked if this store could cut the polycarbonate. One guy had an expression like he was so appalled and annoyed that I returned to ask another question. They were still confused until I said "polycarbonate board" and then it clicked for them. One of the guys, with the utmost passive aggressive tone imaginable, told me I'd be better off doing it myself because the only person who does that just uses a box cutter and isn't good at it. I said thanks and walked away, but then I could hear them talking about how dumb I was that I didn't know the difference between a "screen" and a "board". I get it, I could've used proper lingo, but that doesn't give them the right to act super annoyed and talk smack about me right behind my back. At least wait until the break room to do that. I didn't want to make a scene and I had better things to do. I shop here all the time since it is my closest hardware store but I'll be taking my business elsewhere from now on, to a store that actually trains their employees to be respectful. read more

The personnel at the Suffolk Lowe's are friendly and helpful. The store is usually well stocked although the accuracy of their inventory is often inaccurate. Selection is good and the military discount is super easy to access. However, the appliance Installers that they subcontract are inept - that opinion is based on multiple experiences over several years - so I recommend strongly that you DIY or hire your own installer. read more

Service is god awful rude entitled older people who act like you are the biggest problem in the world by going in. I just moved to Suffolk and have come to Lowe's twice as I bought a historic house that needs restoration. God I miss Home Depot In Chesapeake, I have to find another option Because two different visits resulting in the same bad experience is enough for me. Went here to do an easy home project. Tried finding bead board for awhile until asking an employee. The employee said there's 62 in inventory, left us 3 different times to search and find it, we waited awhile and he still couldn't find it. So he sent us to the Portsmouth Lowes. If you're planning a project, the app might say the store has plenty in inventory but the employees cannot find it. read more

Service is constantly an issue. My elderly mother went to perform a pick up. After arriving I informed Lowe's that she was in space one. They are a no show. I call and okay the hold game. Young lady picks up and immediately transfers me and I play some more hold game. This continues on for 15 minutes. My mother has to walk in. If you're going to have a system make sure it works. If need to hire more people then get it done. If need to hire more intelligent people then find them. To the managers, take the time to discover your weaknesses and fix them. Went to Lowe's for a multimillion dollar property maintenance company to purchase supplies with a company credit card. Was told by the only person up front she couldn't help because she was on a call, obviously a personal call, and to go to customer service. There was a line about 20 deep with one person ringing. Contractors come to Lowe's first thing in the morning to obtain supplies for the day and you would think they would be prepared. Left the cart with about $800 worth of supplies and now headed to Home Depot. Contractor's time is money. Don't be surprised when sales are down. read more

Many times I have shopped here and many times they have let me down, but today was the last! As I stood at the lumber side service desk to ask a question about a ladder. There was 1 woman there and only me standing in front of the desk. She passed by me several times. Back and forth, back and forth. She looked at me a few times as she passed and I smiled. I thought she was busy with something and I had time to wait. 5 minutes had passed and she walked by me one last time grabbed a Chick-fil-A cup and a straw then yelled to a man in an isle " I'm going on break!!" She looked at me and walked away without a word directly to me. I have had enough of the crap in this store from the Rude, Ignorant, and unprofessional employees of this store. From being told things will fit or work for projects I have or just being ignored by management. The people here don't know what they are talking about or even how to do they're own job. Run, do not pass go, do not collect 200 dollars. This place is abysmal. Fulfillment will admit over the phone that they are lazy and do not want to pull your items. Jeff the manager will not pickup. Don't ever call the store, they say they get "disconnected" a lot, but it seems like they hang up. The two women working fulfillment on the weekend are like tweetle dee and tweetle dumbass. One calls me and states we are canceling your order, while I was on the phone with the other fulfillment person and she is stating "I do not have any notes on record for your order," as the other fulfillment person cancels my order. Customer service will not "help" because it is an internet order. When I found out why they cancelled my order, after haggling and calling multiple times, she admits. "well, we are super busy, and the isles are blocked off, and we only have one person working so we canceled instead of not making our time commitment. What kills me is this a 3k order for a bunch of litlle projects. Now I need to wait until the bank gets the cancelation order, and in five to seven days the money goes back to my card. Thanks Lowes for being super incompetent, and allowing your employees to just cancel orders because they are "busy and the isles are closed." If you cannot handle the business you need to shut down and let someone else take the reigns. I welcome change, fire the whole fulfillment team, and management and maybe shut down the store until you can fill all positions to run it properly. Today I had a pick up order at Lowe's and I must say the associate Carolina was amazing. Service was super fast and she was amazing.

I had Lowe's Suffolk install some backsplash. not knowing it was subcontracted out NC flooring showed up. They made a mess of things. The grout between the tiles was anywhere from 1/8 to 1/4 and could be spotted from space. I complained it needed to be redone, and told them do not send the same crew. Guess what, yep, the same crew showed up to remove their terrible job and redo it. The second attempt, which was 2 months later, was only slightly better. Not worth paying a professional to do it. I wanted it removed and would do myself. Asked for a refund, was told only the labor, not materials. I said ok... they said certified mail with a check would be there in 3-7 days. that was 2 months ago. Now they have to REQUEST, not perform, request a trace be placed to the financial offices to see if a check was even cut let alone mailed. Lowe's is large corp lost and tied up in inter office mumbo jumbo procedures designed to delay. I am now switching to Home Depot. read more

After shopping exclusively at Lowe's for every project I've ever had. I would like to share a fair warning of lowes home improvement shorts theft. While returning extra materials, I was issued an in store credit card because they did not have that amount of money at the time. I had 3 children under 10 with me, so it was all a very fast transaction. I was not informed on any policy about their in store credit cards till I loose the card and try to get a new one. They are not willing to issue me a new card, therefore stealing all my money that was on that credit, and destroying a long standing relationship. They scanned my drivers license to issue the card and they are now unwilling to scan my license again to check the history of that card to potentially let me know if it has been used or not. When I try to get a babysitter to come talk with a manager, they only take my name and number and ignore me for weeks. I try again and was met with the same treatment. Does anyone here think it sounds impossible to search up records and issue a new piece of plastic if it was unused? I didn't think it would be a problem. Now that I have been robbed by this company, I am just amazed at how cold this company can treat its customers. Please, do not ever get an in store credit card. I will no longer shop at any lowes stores. They have treated me with complete disregard. Please do not support a business that is willing to take from the less fortunate to fill their corporate pockets. I did not reach this conclusion over a 100$ gift card, it was way more then that. read more

So many negative reviews for this Lowes Home Improvement store. Nothing has been done to correct the problems with management, the untrained employees or the delivery personnel. I purchased a side by side refrigerator/freezer from this store 11 months ago. Service has been done 4 times. The refrigerator side continues to freeze food. I cannot get anyone to replace this appliance. I have pictures of frozen eggs, milk, juice, lettuce, cheeses, etc! I do receive daily from Lowes and Frigidaire correspondence to purchase a extended warranty! According to Fridgedaire because Lowes will not recommend replacement nothing can be done. Continue to replace the same parts and oh yes the last service tech said this side by side is a bad design. You need to move the shelves! Seriously that was the diagnosis! I use this store for menial items. All major purchases are made at the competitor store. read more

I LOVE this Lowe's! We moved to Suffolk about three years ago after purchasing our very first home. Little did we realize how much upkeep was involved in owning your own home! We come to this Lowe's often enough the employees recognize us right away! We have accomplished a dozen projects thanks to the employees at this store. They all seem to know a ton about the department they work in. We have had people advise us on paint, plumbing, lawn care etc. They really know their stuff! I really appreciate that Lowe's supports the military. The extra discount really helps a lot when you are on a tight budget. Today's visit was because we needed a new bedroom door. Not only did he show us where we needed to be, he made sure we had all the parts we needed to hang the door properly the first time. He didn't just point a finger, he walked us to where we needed to go. We also got paint that had to be matched. They really worked hard to find us a suitable compliment to the oddball paint we were already working with. Long story short, we love this store! read more

The night crew that I deal with is always awesome, but today I had some returns. God forbid, on a Saturday right? Shanon on lane 2 made sure that we knew "people like us that make returns on Saturday's" are real inconvenient. The day staff is cool, not always helpful unless you seek them out, but polite when you do. Luckily the return lane was awesome (we didn't go there first because we were worried someone would see us walking through the wood side with return and question us). We were told to go to lane one today, Saturday the 5th of September and was told promptly that she doesn't do returns but then told Shanon at lane two that it was because she didn't know how. Shanon then set us to the side and got mad that we were there in general.. cool, I wish I purchased the perfect amount of $2000 worth of deck supplies too, but sadly it doesn't work like that for most projects so we had some returns. Thanks Shanon, your horrible attitude and rude dementor set the bar, I'm not sure how you ended up dealing with customers in general, but good for you (not for others). We ended up at the return isle, after she told us we'd need to go through each receipt and tell her what she needed to return and that she wouldn't do it either way because "look at this line", instead of what we found out was WAY easier when we used the same card for all purchases (she never asked). the magical unicorn of our day at the return isle made our life so much easier, and was helpful and polite. I wish I got her name because she was perfect, sept 5, Saturday at noon. LOWES if you know see the schedule and know who worked this know that this person is a gem! The competency level here is just amazing!! I ordered a shower door online and received a call for ready to pick up at the store. I arrived and they could not find the shower door after 3 hours!! Lol. They told me to come back Monday to check back in. They wasted a lot of my time and money and I had contractors standing by at the house waiting to install at which I had to pay for their time as well. Unbelievable. There were also a few occasions where their system could not find me registered and I was still denied military discount despite that I was in my uniform with valid military ID. Lol. I have been to this Lowes but I never wrote the review. The place has actually gotten better over the years. It is next to the WalMart, which attracts a different crowd, but it is far enough away that you dont have to deal with their parking lot. They have done a lot of renovations with this entire shopping center and the store along the road, which I think has improved the overall concept of the Lowes. The store was clean, the shelves were neatly stacked and every time I have been there, the clerks and the help was outstanding. I have long preferred Lowes to Home Depot and these are the main reasons. I think this Lowes is a little smaller than the one on Portsmouth Blvd, but when I am near Dowtown Suffolk, it is handy to be here. I have also not felt very safe in the parking lot at the next door Walmart and I didnt seem to have issue with Lowes when I was there this time. Big improvement, good employees and I will go there with confidence in the future. read more

I wish I could give this store a negative 100 stars if I could. Ive never had to deal with this many incompetent people in my adult life. My elderly mother's dryer stopped working and around Thanksgiving we saw that Lowes had some good deals on dryers and "all items were in stock in store". We made the online order on November 24. Delivery was stated to be Dec 1st and that we would get a call or email with estimated delivery timeframe on the night prior or morning of deliver. We got nothing. I had to call for my mother on December 1st,2nd,3rd, and 4th to get details on why it was delayed. The first day the delivery *manager* couldn't comprehend how to spell our names (its literally 4 letters). Then we were told that "the truck was too full" for our order. We were also told that "oh your name sounds familiar" and "oh we think we know where your order is". So on day 4 and many hours of being on hold and the "system" glitches not being rectified as I was told. I just called and cancelled the order after being hung up on 3 times because the Employees there didn't know how to transfer a call. Any other company is better than Lowes. Who cares if you can get an item for cheap if they are too stupid to figure out how to find items and put them into a truck to deliver it to you. read more

I waited from 10 am until 3 pm for my order on 15 Dec 2018. I called the store Lowe's Home Improvement (Suffolk VA) and was told that there was a delivery problem and instructed to call the delivery company. I called the delivery company and they told me that Lowe's canceled my delivery that morning. I called Lowe's back and was told that the delivery manager (not sure) said she called me that morning and canceled my delivery (15 Dec 2018 Saturday) morning with me. I asked to speak to her because the last call I received was from the automated delivery system giving me a delivery time. This upset me because someone had lied and stated they spoke to me canceling my delivery. I was put on hold for 8 minutes, by which time I had driven to the store. I walked in and asked for the store manager and was allowed in an office. The manager said that it was the delivery truck driver's fault because he (the driver) forgot to call me. Never belived it was the truck driver's responsibility to tell me my order had not arrived at Lowe's after two weeks of waiting. I should have been notified prior to the delivery date that my two-week-old order was not at the store for delivery. I should not have been lied to nor should I have been put on hold for eight minutes. Lastly, it's to late to tell someone their order is not arriving after they have spent the majority of their day waiting for them to show up. I got a refund on the washer and dryer along with the extended warranty. Never again Lowe's. read more

Let me be honest to begin with. I have come to expect poor customer service where ever I go now unfortunately. This weekend my husband and I were hooking up our dishwasher that we had picked up a week before from Lowes as a present from my parents. While opening the box we realized that it was severely damaged. I immediately called Lowes in Suffolk to see what could be done. They told me they could order me a new one and it would be ready in about 15 days. My husband and I packed up the box and headed to Lowes to return the damaged one. While returning we decided to look in the store for anything that might work just as well for us instead of waiting for the replacement. This is where we met Lauren and Lavita. Lauren initially helped us with picking out a product and with any questions that we had. She was a pleasure to work with and even helped us get a discount. She reached out to Lavita who in turn approved the discount and helped us to the check out procedures. Lavita was in the process of getting off of her shift but stayed with us until our transactions was completed! My husband and I were blown away by her commitment to her customers and also to helping her fellow employees. We are beyond pleased with our experience and this is due to Lauren and Lavita. I was in Lowe's the other day, I was looking to check-out and the only lines that were open were the self-check out. That is great and all but I had some things that were on clearance and military discount. The cashiers were too busy trying to figure out something at one station and couldn't provide me assistance. I saw several employees standing around the customer service desk, not doing anything and the line there was about 10 people. Very frustrating. They should work on customer service and maybe have an actual check-out lane open... Just a thought. read more

I wish I could give Lowes a zero rating. I hired Lowes to replace my fence and I regret every moment of it. They say they will have someone providing over site for the job - not true! The communication with this company is horrible!! No one answers the phone and no one calls you back! They started this job June 18th - it is still not finished! There are Gaps in the fence, there is still wood boards propped under portions of the fence, they left my water running all night - twice, they did not place the fence where they were supposed to, they have not covered the holes they dug to put in the post, they knocked down a portion of my neighbors fence and they took off about a foot of my yard with the fence and gave it to my other neighbor! I wrote the CEO and was assigned to someone named Lynn. When she calls me back she also keeps making the same false promises and never answers her phone. I JUST WANT MY FENCE FIXED!! why do I have to make payments on a fence that is not finished? Now I am stuck with a payment of 7 grand with a half finished fence! SHAME ON YOU LOWES! read more

Received a call two hours after placing the order from a representative from this store stating oh we don't have anymore ranges. Then how was I able to place the order then. smh...So I asked her about the microwave. She says what microwave I don't see that as part of the order. No help WHATSOEVER. Then called Lowes.com. They were no better. Talk to one lady who stated that she will place the order at the Norfolk store and that the order is coming from some warehouse in DC. The microwave should be there by the following Monday. Ok Monday came and went called Lowes.com again she says oh the microwave is on backorder. The order is not showing a store location of where it can be shipped from. She then ask me so why didn't the stove ship from the Suffolk location that's closer. Because the representative at the store called me and stated they didn't have anymore stoves. Unbelievable. These people are not up to snuff. Again not sure if Home Depot is better but shop Amazon. I haven't had any issues with them. It's been now 6 days I still don't have a microwave on stove and the stove is suppose to ship from the local store area. smh. read more
