His response was dismissive--he said he works on many machines and doesn't know all the error codes. In my experience, a trained technician can usually diagnose issues within minutes. At one point, he even showed me that he was using ChatGPT on his phone as part of his "diagnostic test," which was honestly concerning. He then quoted me $500 for the repair. I laughed and asked him to leave. Later, a manager called to confirm the same $500 flat rate but refused to break down the cost. I had already researched the part myself--it costs around $50-$80, which means they were charging over $400 in labor for what should be a relatively quick fix.
