Stumbled upon this hidden gem while out exploring Folly on a busy Saturday afternoon. You need to scan the QR code for the menu. There was a brunch menu that went until late afternoon. You order at the bar and then they will bring it to the table. The food came out extremely fast! A good variety of options. I went with the burger and it was absolutely amazing despite being a bit messy, especially the special sauce used. There is indoor and outdoor seating available, a fairly large bar area, and accessible restrooms. Music was playing and the vibe was very laid back. The staff were friendly and attentive. There is also merchandise to purchase inside.

I came here on Friday after just getting into town for the weekend. My place was maybe 400 ft from here so it was an obvious choice for something walkable and quick. I enjoyed a chill pill drink and sat at the bar. It is the ground floor of a hotel/inn and easy to see and access. It wasn't too crowded but there were a few more people by the time I left around 1030. They have food too but I just had a nightcap. Service was good and friendly.

One of the best spots in folly! They have everything you'd want at a beach bar- local craft beer, fun cocktails, excellent food, and awesome service. The restaurant has plenty of patio and outdoor seating, as well as several spots inside. My favorite thing about Low Life is that they have indoor and outdoor bar seating for that fun beach ambiance. They also have some of the best food and drinks on the island! Starting out with some cocktails, we decided on the black Betty and the dark and shady. Both were excellent, and honestly all of their cocktails are so unique and tasty that you can't go wrong! We ordered the Maryland crab cake sandwich and fried chicken sandwich to split. The sandwiches are always perfect and are huge portions. The waffle fries are to die for, and the spicy ketchup is a fun twist too! As a frequent folly flyer, this is one of the most solid places you can find!

Came here on a Wednesday night after pickleball with a group of friends and was starving. They suggested Lowlife which I'd never been to but they all loved coming for casual drinks and apps. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and a friend ordered the mothers double cheeseburger. Waffle fries were crispy and well seasoned. The chicken sandwich was HUGE (and very good). Omg. I took off a piece of chicken because there was no way I could bite into it - plus now I have the saved chicken piece to make a sandwich today!! Service was quick and attentive, I'd definitely come back.

Three of us went during happy hour on a weeknight. Bartenders were great. Pimento cheese plate with jalapeño jelly was delicious, as were the waffle fries! Black Betty was an excellent cocktail choice. Would go again!

Friends and I needed a quick bite upon arriving in Folly Beach a bit late, and stumbled upon LowLife! They've got a variety of sandwiches along with some smaller plates. Crowd favorites were the chicken sandwich (which comes with TWO large patties!) and the Brussel sprouts. Was all solid though. Cocktails were very reasonably priced.

Given the name, you should not have high expectations. Terrific mix of locals & tourists. Fun all around. Staff genuinely wants people to be happy. Did not eat there so can't say

Great dog-friendly open-air bar with great cocktails, killer waffle fries, a little off the main drag and less touristy.

Very cute, busy but not too busy, casual dress, good good for groups of solo visit. We only tried the cheese dip thing which I didn't love but my friends did. Besides a guest putting their mini dog ON the bar, everything else was great. One of the bartenders politely asked them not to put their pet on a public bar and they obliged. Definitely worth checking out when you're in SC.

Stopped here for lunch on a locals suggestion. Outside seating around bar with a couple of tables inside and out back. Looks like a five bar but the menu looks awesome. Started with some crafty cocktails with all homemade or home grown ingredients. Little sweet for my taste. Ordered crabcake and tuna poke and both were incredibly delish. Crabcake was advertised as a Md version and it was really really good says this guy from Baltimore. All lump and backfin and a huge serving on a toasted roll with spicy romulade sauce. Came with some seriously good and crispy waffle fries w homemade ketchup. A steal for the $18 lunch offering. Imho, this may be the 2nd best food spot in folly.

Great beach bar. You seat yourself and order at the bar. Food comes out quickly and drinks are good. Their take on a pina colada wasn't our favorite but we loved all the others. For food we did the queso, crab cake sandwich and avocado toast. The queso was great, chips super light and thin. The fries that came with the crab cake were everyone's favorite. I grew up on the Chesapeake bay so am a tough crab cake critique and these met my standards, only disappointment was it was d r o w n i n g in sauce. Almost made it inedible. Hopefully that was a fluke thing but next time I would definitely request the sauce on the side. The avo toast was my personal favorite bite. I'd definitely order that again. A very fun and yummy stop when on Folly.

Got there as they were about to close. They graciously accommodated us with very good drinks. Will go back for food!

Classic dive bar. We had a good meal and it was a good time. Fun t-shirts, and kids at the table next to us were playing games.

Always a great experience- good people, food is fantastic, and the beer is cold. Love the indoor outdoor atmosphere and prompt service.

The crowds were behaving themselves, the breeze was cooperative, and the smiles behind the bar were as steady as the tide. Service? Quick. Attitude? Cheerful. Decor? Pure beach--with just enough kitsch to remind you that you're exactly where you're supposed to be. I especially loved the AI-generated "Old Folly Beach" photos. They had that sepia-toned, barefoot-in-the-sand charm that makes you nostalgic for a time you probably never lived through. Clever. Fun. Conversation starters. The food came out hot and well prepared--no excuses, no shortcuts, no "it's beach food, what did you expect?" nonsense. Just solid plates done right. Sometimes the best meals aren't about linen napkins or complicated sauces. Sometimes it's quick service, honest cooking, a few laughs, and the Atlantic doing background vocals.

The bar opened at 10am. Ordered drinks... our bar drinks arrived just before our food did. No, not very busy at this time of morning. We sat outside before the heat of the day forced us all inside. 2 other tables, one leaving moments after we arrived. The view was amazing though. My eggs were ordered as over medium- they were fried hard. I like a little seepage of yolk. No rock solid, but the wait... I was afraid to send my order back.
