OMG!! I had the BEST shrimp of my life here! I am from New England where shrimp is not really popular/nobody knows how to cook it correctly so once you actually have good shrimp, you don't forget about it! I ordered the "Carolina Shrimp" (blackened) and the flavor was amazing; a tad bit spicy but not overwhelming. The fries & coleslaw were also what I consider to be the "good kind." Our last night at Folly Beach was spent at Loggerheads. There was a really good solo musician playing great songs. My Son, his GF, and I had a seat at the bar. A Supper Cool Chick named Katie provided five star service. We had a variety of beers and mixed drinks along with numerous shots. Katie was well informed about the various mixed drinks and shots. I had my first crab cake I actually liked here! Something about northeast dicing up red/green peppers with eggs and corn meal and calling it crab cake... smh. We started off with the Manhattan clam chowder... you bet this is a family recipe since it's actually that good. Generous amounts of clams complimented with celery other veggies (I couldn't see since we sat outside for dinner). I'm use to potato/carrot chowder and paying by clam price. We also got the spice quest dip. Huge bowl of delicious cheese dip that also goes perfect with fries from your entree. The crab cake sandwich and it was amazing. It was literally all crab and perfectly fried to nice refreshing crisp. I've had crab cakes where there was so much corn meal it soaked up all this oil and you're eating a patty of grease. We enjoyed sitting on the patio listening to live music, which entertained us while we dealt with slow service. We started with fried calamari which was nice and fresh and then had the crab cakes which were a pretty good portion size for the price. My cousin had the coconut shrimp and she really enjoyed them. Our server Sumter took the laid back style of the south to the extreme by sitting down at our table whenever he could and would disappear for very long periods of time which made it hard to ask for things. The outside area looks like it would be good for large groups because they do have large tables, just hope that you get a good server. We went during the off season in mid September so it wasn't crowded at all at 5pm (we time early with 2 littles) The food was good - I had the fish tacos. I live near Folly Beach and fairly often. I get the urge to eat out there and Loggerheads is one of my favorites! The service is always close to perfect! my experience last week was fantastic. I got a cup of their butternut squash soup which was obviously homemade and delicious. Their wings are perfect. They're crispy and big. You have your choice of five or six different rubs or dips. I love Loggerhead's. We've been a few times and always had such an awesome time. This visit was not what we are use to, but our server was amazing!!! We had about a 45 minute wait, which we expected. Plenty of seating on ground level while you wait. Once seated, our server greeted us promptly and got us all drink refills. Plenty of beer on tap and in the bottle. She kept our waters full, which was appreciated. The live music was an added bonus. It took approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour to get our food. Not sure what the hiccup was, but our server was very apologetic. Luckily we ordered an appetizer which held us over... The crab dip was mediocre, but filling. The crab cake sandwich was delicious! Cheaper way to get a taste of crab cake but on a budget. My oldest son got the fried shrimp, no complaints. Hubby got the crab cakes and said his meal was good. The coke slaw was creamy! Perfect. Our server was so kind and brought us key lime pie as a "thank you for your patience." While we never once complained, it was nice of her to think of us and our kiddos. I came here after an exhausting night run on the beach with my boy toy and some guy and gal friends. I was not a happy camper walking in as I was cursed with a parking ticket moments before... but when I laid eyes on a man playing steel drums with beautiful LED light highlighting his best features my stress melted away and I was floating in paradise! Paradise not like Charleston but paradise like Australia because there were lots of Aussies out and about in the crowd!
