We went to several bars around Charleston and Folly Beach. And the Royal American in Charleston and the Bounty Bar in Folly Beach, both owned by the same people, were absolutely the very best by far. So, this was our first time trying The Bounty Bar, we usually stick to Jack of Cups or Chico Feo on Folly but we had family with picky eaters with us and needed something like chicken fingers (and it's Tuesday, so JOC was closed). The fries were cold when we got them, which was a bummer. Our SIL had to go ask for her drink after like 20 minutes, the other drinks had come so I think our server just forgot. Our SIL and brother shared the chicken parm and it was huge, plenty to share and they both said it was really good. We had to go ask again about the side of fries my 6 year old ordered because it didn't come out either, but when we finally got them nice and hot, I was bummed we had gotten the cold ones...The hot ones were yum! My other niece got chicken fingers and it's a big plate! She liked those too. We all agreed that the food was really good, better than we expected for a bar and the service was disappointing. It would've been different if it felt like she was really hustling and just had too many tables, but it was way more of a "meh..." kind of vibe. This was unexpected. Stopped in for lunch one day. Got a burger and a side of fries. Both were outstanding! Don't recall the details re: the burger, because it was a couple weeks ago. However, the fries. OMG! They're slightly larger than shoestring, so they're the perfect size, imho. Crispy, yet thick enough to where they don't get cold right away. They also had some kind of herb on them that made them stand out. I've also gotten the Greek side salad there before and it was also outstanding...perfectly dressed with yummy feta and Kalamata olives. Finally, I've also gotten the grilled ham and cheese sandwich there during a late night visit. Basic, but perfectly executed and absolutely delicious. For a bar that's probably better known as a great music venue, this place has some serious chops when it comes to bar food. Am so glad I decided to check it out! read more

Looking for a divey bar on Folly? Look no further! The bounty bar has plenty of seating, food options, and occasionally will have live music. I was able to stop by the bar on the Fourth of July for a quick bite. They had a special menu deal- I got a burger with all the toppings( lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and cheese) and a side of Mac n cheese ( the casserole type). The bounty bar is awesome. My friends and I came for dinner knowing it was a dive bar, and the food greatly exceeded our expectations. It was so good we ordered it again for delivery 2 days later. You sit wherever and order at the bar then they bring it to you. We didn't drink too much, but we got one beer on draft and 2 of their frozen flights. All 3 drinks in the flight were good, but the Irish coffee blew our socks off it was dangerously good. We had a really good time here! We came for my friend's bachelorette party. She wanted a fun beach weekend, and The Bounty Bar played a role in making that happen. We came later in the evening and it was really lively. There was a live band that would play, and they had a great stage presence. One of them even had an electric clarinet, I had never seen that before. It was darkly lit, providing for an intimate atmosphere. I think one of my friends got some food. I was in Charleston for a weekend trip but we stopped in Folly Beach on the way in for dinner. We came in quite late, so Bounty bar was a recommendation from a local for late night bites! Street parking is pretty easy to find in Folly and Bounty is a relatively big bar. Inside, it's a little divey, but that's any Folly Beach bar and we were excited to see they had live music! We placed orders at the bar and were able to find a booth. The servers came out with food quickly and I was surprised by the quality of food for a dive bar! This folly beach spot is the newer venture from the folks over at Royal American which is one of my all time favorites. I stopped in randomly so there wasn't any live music and I didn't try the food as we were just bouncing around Folly. I can say I liked the setup with a big front bar and lots of seating. Also checked out the patio with a handful of picnic tables too. The bathrooms were full of flash tattoo art and they had a cool setup where each gender neutral stall was private and a shared bank of sinks outside. There are indicator lights to tell you which ones are occupied. The bartender was funny and welcoming... Definitely a place I want to go back to. read more

My group ended up here for lunch since everywhere immediately nearby had lengthy wait-times. This place was seat-your-self and order only at the bar, which was different. So that's what we did. They definitely seemed understaffed so service was slow, but the bartender was absolutely killing it. The decor was cool to look at. Grilled chicken sandwich would've been okay had there not been a giant tendon throughout the whole chicken breast. Bland (frozen) fries, kind of McDonaldsy vibe. I love this place on Folly! Such a great option to pop into... whether just for a drink, a snack, or full blown meal. We personally love sitting outside in the front, as they have some comfy chairs and couches and you can people watch. They also have misting fans to keep you cool enough on hot days. It's a dark and sort of moody interior... so when you walk back outside, don't forget you're at the beach! :) As for the food, we have had mostly great experiences here. The menu is great, but lacks consistency in quality at times. 9 times out of 10, it shouldn't be an issue. Especially the blonde woman bartender, she sneezed in my drink last weekend and tried to play it off like i didn't see it, absolutely disgusting. Went here 6 months ago and was just OK, but went a few times last month and had a better time. Food has definitely improved and the drinks are still good (the Painkiller is great and seems like is the recipe from the old Surf Bar). I was really excited about this spot when I heard it was coming to Folly. With it being The Royal American's sister restaurant, there are high expectations for Charleston Locals and so far, it did not disappoint. Very cool pirate theme and all of the staff is friendly and seem genuinely happy to be there. We got the "famous patty melt," a Philly cheese steak, and fries to split between 2 people. The fries were well cooked and crispy. The patty melt was as good as they claimed. The Philly cheese steak was good, but a little salty. Calling all Seafaring Misfits and Sirens! Cool bar close to the beach with decent food and drinks. Stopped by after a day at the beach. We ordered food and drinks from the bar and sat out on the front patio. We ordered the frozen flight with consisted of a vodka, rum, and bourbon drinks. The rum was delicious. The food came out quickly and was pretty good. The coconut shrimp was delicious! The wings were tiny, likely from a pigeon, but had good flavor. Brussel sprouts were oily and lacked flavor. We didn't order any entrees, but the sandwiches looked good. Would def go back next time I'm on folly to check out more of the menu and enjoy the cool atmosphere and tasty drinks. We have been to Folly Beach 7 of the last 10 years. Initially we were saddened to see the Irish Pub/Restaurant changed to another business. The Bounty Bar makes u feel like friends and family. The FOOD was the best on Folly Beach. 3 full breasts for amazing breaded chicken tenders. French Onion soup in a crock and melted cheese perfection. Note I am. French Onion soup snob who criticizes places in Ireland if they do not measure up. Also the chicken blackened salad had the perfect tenderness. This came out last and the staff apologized BUT we quickly realized that the tender blackened chicken was perfect to melt in our mouths. WOW. Yummmmm!! My husband and I had lunch at the bounty bar today. We sat up at the bar and had great service from Katie. We started with a cocktail. He had a classic daiquiri and I had a dark and stormy. Both were just as they should be. To eat he had the bacon egg and cheese biscuit, and I had the patty melt with the addition of dukes mayo. The Texas toast on the patty melt was perfectly grilled, buttery and crispy. The patty was nice and thin, The onions were well grilled. And the cheese was nice and melty. I had only planned to eat half but it was so good I ate the whole thing! My husband's bacon egg and cheese biscuit was also delicious. Neither sandwich came with a side so we shared some fries. One order was more than the two of us could finish. The sandwiches did come with some yummy pickle slices. Their house made "fire and ice" pickles, a cross between a dill and bread & butter. Pam and I had just taken a one-hour walk on Folly Beach where the gods had conspired with gentle breezes, a bright blue sky, and friendly folks to convince us that there was no way it could possibly get any better. But once off the beach and spotting a new Folly establishment called The Bounty Bar, we were to find out how wrong we were to set our expectations so low. The front door beckoned us to come on in. As I opened the door, the first thing that hit me was a bombardment of colorful lights, tastefully put in a context of a flat black background. It took a bit for my pupils to adjust from being out in the bright sun, but as they did I immediately felt the friendliness and informality of this "everyone-knows-your-name" place. I have to say I was impressed that an establishment that had just opened recently seemed to be running like a well-oiled machine. We ordered ice tea, the fried fish sandwich, the gator po' boy, some fries, and a salad which was brought to us on the front porch section where we could take in the "passing parade" of humanity enjoying their visit to this funky beach town. Both the fried fish and croc were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The fries were top-notch and the delicious ice tea hit the spot. I guess the only change that I might have made was to have ordered one of their many choices of beer or the renowned frozen rum punch to more closely complement the delicious lunch we had.
