This place is nothing like describe on the website. When we arrived the host was rude and did not greet us until we said hello we are here to check in. She just asked for our name and check us in and handed us the key. Didn't say thank you or anything. When we got to the room the floor had small rocks and sand on it. The rug they had little really dirty and the bed had little bit of sand u see the covers. The bathroom looked dirty as if they had not clean it just wiped it down. We stayed for two days and they never came to do our bed or pick up our trash. I felt so disgusted I had to clean so I can feel comfortable. ** Avoid at all costs if you are a person of color or minority religion ** After serving this country for 17 years, this hotel treated my husband like garbage. We chose this hotel based off the reviews & beautiful amenities only to take visiting family (of which are international dignitaries) only to be total embarrassed, discriminated against & mistreated by a intoxicated, racist management level staff member. This kind of treatment in 2022 is just disgusting & unacceptable. The hotel did not apologize, nor try to make their stay any more comfortable, nothing. We will never visit Salida again period & I would encourage anyone else to avoid this place at all costs. It looks cute, but the customer service is anything but cute. read more

Stayed here recently on a ski trip and couldn't be happier! We had a room in the 200's building and had a gorgeous view of the mountains. Rooms have been recently updated, bathrooms are dated but serviceable. Bed/ pillows were very comfortable and the wool blanket was a nice touch. It is very convenient to downtown and to Monarch Mountain. Even on a holiday weekend we were able to get a parking spot right in front of our room. Pool area was really nice, and they've added outdoor hot tubs- perfect after a day of skiing. They are currently renovating breakfast area and had the breakfast set up in a room, but still had a lot of options. They have an outdoor cooking area and a fire pit for less chilly times of year. read more

I had a really great experience staying at the Loyal Duke Lodge - Late August 2021. The woman checking me in let me check in early (she even texted with me the day before/day of). The outside look leaves a bit to be desired, but I was pleasantly surprised when I got in my room. The room was recently renovated and extremely clean. I ALWAYS check for bedbugs the moment I walk into any hotel (even high end chain hotels) - no sign of any insects or pests. I used the hotel pool and hot tub, which was also clean. Decent location for this side of town (I prefer the "downtown" side of town) - the Loyal Duke Lodge is right across the street from the skate park and aquatic center. I stayed here with a couple of friends in January, and we had a great time. The room was very comfortable and clean with pleasant decor. The entire lodge smelled like pinon which was amazing. Check in was super easy, and the woman assisting us had plenty of recommendations. We did not use the hot tubs or pool, but plenty of people were in and out. Overpriced; worth 50% of the $188 we paid per night. Recently refurbished, the Loyal Duke Lodge still retains the flavor of an old motel. It's tacky chic, a relic of yesteryear evidenced by the retro chair and table with tubular aluminum legs stuffed into our tiny room. So, what's its underlying appeal? A main attraction lies in offering comfortable mattresses with classy sheeting and nice towels. And, a pleasant area to walk your dog. Alas, none of the posted photos show that the knee-high exposed vanity sink area is situated four feet from the corner of your bed. And then there's the low-slung toilet in a bland bathroom space about the size of four extra-large boxes of Cheerios laid end to end. Anyone taller than 6' - like me - will not enjoy having to stoop to get under the low shower head. I noticed several guests were high in a self-induced state of euphoria. Permissive open smoking contributes to the motel's reputation and popularity with folks who obviously overlook the overpriced minimalist room environment in return for a relatively unconstrained stay. read more

I enjoyed my stay at the Loyal Duke Lodge so much. It is a neat hotel. Check it out if you have the chance. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and decorated to give a calming feel. We stayed in the room with 2 queen beds and a pull out couch. Although I did not bring a dog, the hotel is dog friendly and I enjoyed greeting the friendly dogs staying there. There is also a pool, hot tub, and laundry on site. All of which were utilized by someone in our group.The staff could not have been more friendly and accommodating. If you stay here, don't stay in the rooms on the first floor by the office. They all smell terrible. It's suppose to be nonsmoking but apparently that isn't enforced. We rented three rooms and they were all awful. We switched one of them to a second floor room and it was better. Staff is very friendly. Breakfast is not impressive. read more

Upon check in, we were received warmly by the front desk person. He was friendly and competent, and quickly got us on our way to our room. Upon entry of our room, I was disappointed to find that the extra package we paid for (the pet upgrade, with a water bowl, dog bed, and treats) was not in our room. Also we did not have any toiletries. We went back to the office and asked for the toiletries, and he obliged, but said they should have been in the room. Lol. Why would we lie about that? We didn't say anything about the pet package after the interaction we had pertaining to the shampoo. The pool and hot tubs are a nice bonus, and this motel is very pet-friendly. The only potty spot for pets is very close to Rainbow BLVD, so make sure you pet is well-leashed. The rooms are clean, and the beds are okay. The rooms are surprisingly quiet considering the door opens to the outside, and not a hallway. Within walking distance to many restaurants, and a gas station next door. The dog park is a short drive, and the aquatic center is directly across the street, along with a cute park. Will I stay here again? Probably because it's one of the only pet-friendly hotels in the area that always has vacancies on short notice (I travel here to visit my husband while he's on call in B.V.) read more

A little funky looking when you get in but you grow to like the arrangements. The management was very accommodating. Wifi is spotty here but that is more due to location rather than any function of the lodge. The room was clean. We stayed two nights and only wanted new towels and the rest left alone, they were happy to accommodate us. A good place to stay if you have a pet. read more

This was the perfect place for our two night stay in Salida! Friendly and helpful staff, you are able to get discounted hot springs tickets, and there is a nice little fridge in the main lobby to buy beer, wine, cider, etc from great Colorado breweries! Also, Soul Craft Brewery is a great place to visit and is just a few minutes walk away. Rooms were clean and had all we needed - they are also very dog friendly. Upon first glance you will find that this place does not look anything like the pictures on their site. There was a very lovely young gentleman who was there to help us. We head up to our room and immediately noticed spiders webs with insects in them in the corners and ceiling of the room. Upon further inspection, the dirt was so piled up on the base boards that it looked like the room had not been cleaned in years. We pulled back the bed to find someones DIRTY UNDERWEAR. Additionally we found chewed food, crumbs, more dead bugs, used cigarettes, and blood on the bedding. The bedding had hair and stains. We stripped the bedding and went to the store to buy some sheets and pillows because we simply could not trust this bedding. We purchased our own cleaning supplies and scrubbed from the ceiling to the corners of the floor. The air conditioner unit had so much grime on it that we couldn't even get the filters out. The rug in the room had dog pee and some other stains. The bathroom appeared to have mold. We personally love dogs, but there was leftover dog food on the floor and chunks of dog hair which could have caused a concern for guests who are allergic to dogs. We cleaned this room ourselves for 2 hours. This place truly had not had a good cleaning in years. The young gentleman at the front desk was so kind and accommodating and I am truly thankful for his help. If you must stay here, pull the furniture away from the walls to make sure you're not staying with unwanted insect guests and someones dirty underwear & food crumble. read more

Stayed here on a recent trip to salida for 5nights. Stayed in the family suite which is 2 adjoining rooms 1 w 1q and 1 w 2q and ea had its own bathroom. Room was well done and adequate. Wood flooring is a nice touch. Hotel carpet..gross. Really liked the ground floor with family, luggage, ski gear etc. Doors open to the outside making it easy to access your car. Pool in center of the complex and was great. Warm and two hot tubs both well maintained and we're outdoors which is fun in the mountains. Did not use the fire pit area but it looked very nice as well. We would recommend staying here. And likely will use them again! Worst place I've ever stayed! I read all the good reviews and was excited about staying. I should have payed attention to the bad reviews. I requested a balcony room and we got a ground level room right next to the housekeeping room. There was trash piled up in front of our door while we were trying to get our stuff into the room and no one bothered to remove until two hours later. The room smelled like dog shit and there was no water pressure to take showers. We were told that we won't have water pressure until housekeeping got through with laundry. I ran down the street to Walmart at about 10pm and came back and our spot in front of our room was taken and there were no more spots left. There's more rooms than parking spots. Won't be staying there or in Salida again. Stay away! These people are cons! Definitely not worth $150! read more

Terrible place to stay. We got put here because we're working in town. We leave for the weekend so we asked them multiple time if we can get it cleaned on Saturday ( since we leave friday and come back sunday.) They didnt clean it twice ( even though we asked multiple times.) Then another week they didnt get to it until saturday even though we should be sleeping since we do overnights. Then they left our door unattended for anyone to walk in and take our stuff. Also they left our microwaves that we brought with us since they dont have in anyone room out on a table without anybody watching it instead of putting it in the office. They also throw away drinks, food, and shower items for no reason they were not empty or near the trash can. The floors look gross like they never touch them. Very run down place. Hot tub next to the pool has no jets. They have a sign saying it is just a soaking tub but it appears to be a broken hot tub. Two other smaller tubs outside. One was broken and the other had dirty water and horible fumes. Mattress was bowed in the middle and should be replaced. Staff was friendly. Do not recomend this place. read more

We are so happy that we stayed here. We had been on the road, camping with our two dogs and we wanted to check out Salida. We found the Loyal Duke online, but were skeptical at first until we drove over to it. Wow. So cool. We were able to park in front of our room so unloading was easy, they have places for dogs to use the bathroom, a great little continental breakfast, and you are down the street from Soulcraft Brewery. We might camp next year, but if not, we'll stay here. read more

i want to love you guys. i do. i love the laid back vibe, the fire table, the hot tubs and pool. the kid friendly environment, the dogs, the rooms (although you guys could check behind the bedside tables occasionally). the location is great and we are having fun, but ya'll need to get your shit together with booking. i booked friday night through monday morning days in advance and paid in full. i didn't get the 2 queen bed on the first night but didn't complain, slept 3 to a bed. moved all my shit out of that king room at 10:30am on saturday so you guys could clean and rebook that room in a timely manner. checked in a second time saturday afternoon to the 2 queen bed room i originally booked (even though the confirmation room number was on the first floor and i ended up on the second floor- whatever.) hauled all my shit upstairs. then i got a text that i was checking out on sunday morning. my husband went to check with the office about the error, at which point we were recharged for sunday night which i had already paid for. dragged my ass back down to the office to fix the overcharge. your staff was friendly and handled it, but come on. this my spring break, not my temp job checking administrative errors. read more

We stayed at the Loyal Duke Lodge in mid-May 2019. It is an older inn, but the management clearly takes a lot of time to take care of the property and serve its clientele well. The city's hot springs are right across the street (which really aren't that hot). It has two outdoor hot tubs and one indoor hot tub with the indoor pool - I liked these better than the hot springs (rarely do fancy hotels keep the temp up on a hot tub...Loyal Duke does...that's class). It was rainy and cold when we were there, and we were very grateful to have to hot tubs. It is very clean. My son was with me, and he's coming back with his whole family for a small vacation. read more

I had a bad experience this past weekend with Loyal Duke Lodge. When booking my reservation, I was told the price per night was 149.00. I made reservations for Friday and Saturday night. When I go to check in the guy behind the desk said he only had me down for Friday night but then says, I'll make this right and so I was able to stay for the two nights. He never gave me a receipt so when I checked my bank account I see they charged me 498.00. I called in and talked to Shawna. She apologized and said she would get me refunded. Since talking with her I get an email and she apologizes but the rate for that weekend was 199.00 per night. Pretty sad that they don't stand by the quote that was given to me by Shawna when I booked my dates. I will also add that they don't have adequate parking so if you have a truck you may get wedged in or what happened to me Saturday night, I had to park by the road since there was no other parking spaces available. I'm sorry she quoted me the wrong price for that weekend but they should have honored it even if it was a mistake on her part. I will NEVER stay at that lodge a read more
