    Bathroom fixture falling off

Almost Bates Motel - Completely disappointed. Listing made this place out to be much more than it was. Communal table and breakfast area has been turned into a reception area. No charm, didn't fee clean, fire pits didn't work, pool was lukewarm, rooms were dingy. Not a single guest had a smile on their face likely because they felt like we did. Would not ever stay here again. Lesson learned 1 motel is a motel.

Building is U shaped with a picturesque courtyard that includes a pool and hot tub.

Such a vintage place! Rooms are spacey, bathroom was in retro pink tile with a unique stand alone sink. This quaint lodge is ran by a husband and wife team and they went out of their way to make our stay great.

We stayed here about 12 years ago when it was a Super 8 and it's now locally owned and much nicer! Matt and Barbara at the front desk were very warm and welcoming. The motel rooms are clean and the bed was comfortable. Only problem is that the walls are very thin and we heard everything going on in the room next to us. There is an indoor pool, 2 outdoor hot tubs, a fire pit, and a nice outdoor sitting area for breakfast. The continental breakfast was better than I expected with muffins, bagels, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, cereal, orange juice, fruit, and great coffee which is a special blend for the motel. A big plus is that it's also very dog friendly!

My husband and I stayed here with our dog for a week. We really liked the hotel. It's not fancy, but it's comfortable and well-managed. Things we especially liked: - the warm welcome (despite arriving at a busy time). - The beautiful view from our room (one of the "Meadow" rooms, which face a meadow and Methodist Mountain) - the outdoor area for grilling, chatting, roasting marshmallows, etc.) - the breakfast (good coffee!) - the information available at the office, including a list of nearby hikes - the dog-friendly atmosphere

Well the first thing you'll notice that the parking lot is extremely small!!! If you have a trailer then go somewhere else because I can barely fit in my full size truck, after a 3 point turn I got parked to be greeted by a rude lady @ front desk ! She didn't even ask for my ID , apparently her day wasn't going well and I got the pleasure of dealing with her Get to my room on the third floor with no elevator and the beds have concave belly's from soooo many people sleeping on them so they are wore flat out, I would've slept on the floor but it's fake hardwood !! Oh and they charge $30 per night for a service animals ! Needless to say I Will Not Stay at this old old hotel again!!

Lucky for us, Silver Ridge had a two-queen room at a much lower rate. Whizzing by on US 50, it looks like a run of the mill old motel. Nope. Rooms have been renovated. Ours was clean and looked nice inside. What we liked: Full size fridge/freezer Hot tub: It's reserve-in-advance by room in 30 minute blocks. No smelly tweakers, couples making out, or loud kids to kill the buzz (and enough chemicals to kill all germs). Our roomy shower had thick glass doors, preferable to a curtain. The self-operated pancake machine in the breakfast area was a fave of our kiddos, who could watch the pancake on a conveyor belt. Just ok: Breakfast was hit or miss. Biscuits/gravy were my fave. Pancakes did the trick. Coffee was fine. However, my scrambled egg discs were cold and the sausage patty tasted too weird to eat. Fruit, milk, OJ, and standard Continental fare were included, too. Bonus: The recent model smart tv was loaded with apps, but you have to login with your own credentials. People forgot to log out of Disney, Prime, and Netflix. While we have each of these, it's nice to have access if you don't already have them. The Salida Aquatic Center sits across the road if you want some hot spring-fed waters. Overall, Silver Ridge combines nicer-than-expected accommodations at a lower price than nearby chains while maintaining the intimate feel and personal touch of a local business. Five Salida motel stars
