Back in the day, 60's, Felix Tijerina offered to help him get started, share his recipes; and Ninfa Laurenzo offered to help his business get started if he would source her for his nixtamal, tortillas and other products. Today I had an opportunity to come here to try a bowl of their chii. I remember a previous visit where I spied a meat grinder in their kitchen learning that they grind their meat in the house. Their chili con carne is a true and authentic "taste of Texas". A layer of oil. A heavy cumin taste. A flavor profile that guarantees heartburn and reflux. Melt in your mouth tender meat. Ambiance.
