Absolutely TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! My car died in San Marcos, and I called this place to pick it up. Their quoted offer seemed fair and much more than I was quoted elsewhere, but that was before I was subjected to their horrible service. I was forced to wait over an hour for their driver to show up, and when I finally gave up and left was told the pseudo-"fair" price they had quoted me was now reduced by $50 because their drivers' time had been wasted. They didn't seem to mind that my own time..... you know, the one who was their CUSTOMER.... had been wasted waiting for their driver to arrive. I wound up going with a competing company who admittedly offered less for my car, but at least had very good customer service. Avoid this place. They act like they are doing you some kind of favor by picking up your non-working vehicle. Their customer service is terrible. Go with the place that doesn't lie up-front about what they are willing to pay for your vehicle. Ecology is a classic bait-and-switch. Did I mention the customer service was awful? read more

Heads up: while you can use card to pay for parts that you find, the entrance fee is $2-3 CASH On the recommendation of a friendly O'Reilly Auto Parts guy, I visited Ecology to replace a teeny tiny broken plastic connector on my Silverado's tailgate latch. Rather than paying GM $100 and waiting a week for an entire new latch, I found exactly what I was looking for at the junk yard and fixed it myself same day. Good as new! read more

The problem is they don't keep a list of the cars in their yard. So they can't tell you if they have a part or not since they may not even have your car! So you have to walk around and search. I don't think so. This is for the birds. Who has the time to just drive up and wander around. ...and I believe they charge admission to get in. How can this possibly work out?!? read more

Many people on here are commenting that they dont have in inventory list so you can't find your parts. This is a pick and pull junkyard. That means you go there, pay $2 to enter, and walk around the acreage to find your own parts. I don't think I would ever trust a junkyard that kept in inventory that intricate, seeing as the turnover for cars is so quick (new cars almost daily). You don't pay by the brand of the car part, you pay a flat rate for what the car part is. That's pretty badass to me. If you don't have the time and patience to find your own parts, go somewhere else and leave the parts for me. I really appreciate the good prices. read more

I called and asked for a quote to sell them a junk car, & they gave me lower offer than from a few years ago on a much older car of the same type. Anyway I asked her how late I could call to pick up today and she she kept saying "we only pick up in the MORNING",. I had to rephrase the question then, asked her several times, can I call for tomorrow morning pick up? How late can I call for that, and she seemed confused and kept repeating her coded mantra of "we only pick up in the morning" and would not give me TIMES! I guess you can only CALL in the morning too? She refused to answer thoroughly. What a limited schedule!?? She explained how she already explained it, STILL not giving me any times. Now when I call back, they just hang up on me! I've tried like ten times in the past few hrs, just to confirm it was on purpose, and yep, it is. I believe the girl's name was "Jasmine". SUCH RUDENESS, with no SCHEDULE or format they follow, just forget them and call Pick UR part instead. UPDATE:, I called a different number, the 800 number, not the local, and once again JAsmine was rude and confused and said I never spoke to her! I told her to read this yelp review, and ask how I got her name then! Just Call Pick UR Part, their lot is organized by make and model and Ecology "claims" they don't have a record of inventory, which would make their business illegal if true. read more

Just returned from Ecology Auto Wrecking. If you plan on going, you should know before you go the odds of them having a vehicle you may need a part from is about a 2% chance... I should have saved myself the time and money walking the entire compound ($2.00 entrance fee). The cars are mostly pre 95's and not a very good selection to boot. I sold these guys a car a last summer and they were comedy. I live in a remote area (Julian) so they said I had to bring the car to another city so they could send a tow truck driver. They did agree to pay $750 for my 2002 Ford Escape. The dude finally showed up after I cooked my ass off for about an hour. He shows up can complains about getting called to work on a day that he was sick. He inspected the car, wrote out and gave me the check before he spent an hour hooking up the tow. After the car is hooked up and ready to go he tells me the battery isn't in the car and the transition wasn't complete. I told him the time to bring that up was before he hooked up my car and already gave me the check. I asked him what he expected me to do since I road with AAA to bring the car that far and my house was a 2hr drive away and I didn't have a car. He basically told me to shit a battery. I looked round some of the shops in the area and even asked a couple of guys. The guys said there was batteries out earlier and there's usually a ton of batteries sitting around but they were all out. They recommended that I get the battery out of an abandoned vehicle When I asked the dude buying the car for tools he told me that he wouldn't let me give him that battery and I needed to try a little harder. His recommendation was to actually buy a new battery. Of course my response is I'm miles away from where I can buy a battery and the only money I have is check he just gave me. His response was tough shit. So I picked up my bag and said I'll figure something out. I kept looking outside these businesses to see if anyone dumped a battery. Nothing.. but I realized was out of the dude's sight so I crossed the busy street and disappeared into the woods behind the Escondido Police station. I used to live in the neighborhood on the other side so I knew where I was going. He tried calling me... the corporate office tried calling me. Yeah.. I figured it out alright. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. I was quoted for $400 for my used truck on Friday with a pickup on Sunday between 11:00 and 2:00. I clearly explained that it was a camper top. On Sunday at 1:30 when I called to confirm that they were going to make it on time, I was informed by a very rude driver that he was running late and that he didn't think "they" took those type of vehicles. After 2 calls with him and numerous calls with Ecology where you spend a lot of time on hold they said that they would not pick up the vehicle. On Sunday I said I wanted to speak with a manager. On Monday I got a call from Pearl who is the assistant manager who said she would get me her manager on Tues. I spoke to Ronda on Tues who told me to remove the camper top or they would not pick it up. When I told her I wanted her to honor the arrangement we had made she refused and told me the conversation was over and hung up on me. If you want to be treated horribly and spend a lot of time on hold, use this company. read more
