Oceanside Driveline is a great shop. The people there are not only very knowledgable with race vehicles of both off-road and street, but they don't try the "upsale" that you get with other shops. In fact, I was told by another shop that my Mustang GT 2008 needed a new rear axle because it was leaking. I took it to Oceanside Driveline for a second opinion. They told me the axle is in good working condition and the leak was from running the engine at high revs for a long time at the track last weekend. I suggest everyone get a second opinion at this shop should you have any driveline issues for your car/truck. read more

My truck was involved in a rear end. After the accident coincidentally the rear end started making a clunk in my 2002 Chevy Duramax diesel 2500. Every time I came to a stop and took off it sounded like a bowling ball was rolling around in the rear end. I went into their shop left it there for the day they pulled the driveline out greased it up lubed all the fittings and the bowling ball problem was gone. People have spent thousands of dollars to fix this thinking it's other issues such as the rear end transmission etc. These guys knew exactly what the problem was is soon as I explained it to him problem solved. I got a second opinion and that saved me 3/4 of the bill and it took about 45 min to get the job done. Highly disappointing in that kind of service. my 2006 lincoln lt the rear end was making ext reme noise in cab. paul evaluated noise so made an appointment. sorry we can't do it until 20 dec. when opened found oil had much metal which wiped out all bearings and seals they ordered parts and notified me that order subject to delays due to covid and slow supply. received parts afternoon 23 dec, worked overtime, they knew i needed the truck for transportation to drive for dav the next day, picked up truck @ 1630. thank you , thank you, thank you!! truck has never run this quite! tom h. read more

First and last time I'll ever go there. I needed my truck by a particular Friday for a road trip the following Monday (Oceanside Driveline is closed on the weekend). I visited the shop almost two weeks in advance to schedule the work to install a limited-slip differential; something they have done thousands of times in the past. That's what they do. I told them I had a wad of hundred dollar bills in my pocket and would pay them cash (this was the truth). They made an appointment for me to drop it off the following Monday before my departure deadline of close of business that Friday. I let them know I needed the truck by that Friday and if they couldn't do the work in time, I'd consider other options. I dropped the truck off Monday morning as planned. I stopped by Wednesday to see how things were going and because they failed to call with the estimate upon inspection as promised. When I arrived, I found the truck in front of the shop, windows open with all my electronic James Bond gadgets on the dashboard and a warm hood. They had time to drive it around, but no time to work on it? Hmmmmm...... One of those gadgets is a video camera/cockpit voice/GPS location recorder hard-wired to the ignition circuit. I look forward to watching that video when I finally get possession of my truck. Now it is departure Friday, and they eventually get around to opening my truck up to discover it requires additional parts. At least they're not charging me storage fees for the four days before finally working on it. I wondered how long they would have stored it had I not made the appointment the prior week. I gave them the OK to proceed and indicated money is not the concern; time is. They said they should be able to finish the job by late afternoon and that they will call when it's done. I received a one-ring phone call from them Friday afternoon at 3:57pm. I assume that's the call to pick it up even though they had blocked caller ID and left no message. Prior calls from them were blocked ID, so this appeared to be Oceanside Driveline calling. If that wasn't them calling, then why did they not call? I returned the call three minutes later at precisely 4:00...... No answer. I called again and again. Still no answer. Now that really screws up the road trip I had planned for first light on Monday plus the packing and logistics I planned to do over the weekend. I'm meeting someone coming from Canada in Oklahoma, so it screws up his schedule as well. That's why I walked in your door nearly two weeks ago to schedule an all-cash deal for the kind of work you do on a daily basis..... So you could get it done on time, without any last-minute surprises. Thanks for blowing me off! It must be nice having so many customers coming in the door that you can afford to conduct business like indifferent bureaucrats: Calling at 3:57, not bothering to leave a message, then refusing to pick up the phone 5 seconds past your 4:00 closing time? I expect that level of service from the DMV; I didn't expect that from Oceanside Driveline based on the reviews I read. Obviously, I was wrong. I won't make that mistake a second time. I give them one star for being knowledgeable, and presumably doing acceptable work. I deduct four stars for failure to communicate and being deceptively clueless when it comes to customer service. I'll update this scathing review after I watch (and listen to) the dash-cam video. Update: When I reviewed my dash-cam video, it showed that they drove my truck to Carlsbad for lunch at the French Cafe on Tuesday (joy riding in my truck???), then drove it to Vista on Wednesday to pick someone up (more joyriding on my fuel???). It was finished on Friday, but they kept it over the weekend to "test drive" it a mile or two on Monday. I had to go back for the required 1000 mile oil replacement, and when I presented them with the concrete evidence of them joyriding in my truck without my permission, they did have the decency to not charge me for that work. That's the only reason I give them one star I'll never go there again! read more

Jeff was great! Called them at 7:30 Am. Had my 99 4 Runner up to their shop by 8:45 AM. They replaced my driveshaft and I was driving away happy by 9:15 Am. Super fast turnaround, they even took time to show me the beat up u joints and whimpy stock driveshaft and the shiny new beefy one that was replacing it. It feels like a whole new truck. My husband took in his 71 Olds 442 classic muscle car in for a gear ratio change on the rear end. He supplied his own parts and Jeff and Paul were both extremely accommodating. During the change, his car was found to have additional problems in the rear end limited slip differential as well as a twisted drive shaft due to the big block power in our hotrod. The car was dropped off at 8:00 am and by 10:00 am was completely disassembled and they were able to show my husband the additional problems and work required. A new high performance drive shaft was constructed and an Auburn limited slip differential unit was replaced with in stock parts. By 3:00 pm in the afternoon we were already back on the road with our completely repaired drive shaft and differential. Jeff and Paul were extremely knowledgeable and helpful and so was the mechanic on the vehicle. Prices were very reasonable and same day service remarkable. Thanks guys for a job well done. read more
