I had been going to Lube it for probably close to 15 years, but this is no longer a (penzoil) Lube-it location. The previous owner must have retired/sold/changed franchises and now it is a Valvoline Instant Oil Change location. The new business is fine, but it is significantly different in style (and it appears there has been a significant staff turnover). This is now the type where you stay in your car and they service the car around it. The new staff is good though. I appreciate that they have an almost military style of calling out work orders with response from whomever is responsible. read more

Beware! WORST service ever! I went in for an OIL change and they charged me $73.13. As opposed to an oil change, the tech. topped off my oil. I asked them to show me the oil pan and they told me the pan had already been tossed. I asked to show me the dip stick and the oil was dark brown not yellow. read more

I usually go here for oil change and these guys have been consistently excellent. My last job was for a brake change and I also had a stripped bolt on the brake caliper. Most places would have charged me extra for it. These guys went above and beyond. Didn't charge me any extras and pointed out to me a problem that most mechanics wouldn't even notice. They fixed the problem before it caused a bigger problem. I appreciate the honesty of the master mechanic (owner) as well as his attention to detail. Can't go wrong with this place. We usually go here for oil changes and have always been satisfied with the service. Today, I was annoyed. I needed a new battery and they sell Interstate batteries, which is fine. When I got home, I checked the battery and found they installed a Duralast battery they bought from the AutoZone down the street and never mentioned it. When I checked the battery on the AutoZone website, I found it was incompatible with my vehicle and I was charged $280 + $60 for labor for a battery that AutoZone sells for $200. I've been here twice for an oil change. First with a coupon, was so cheap, from recollection under $40, which was amazing. Second time, they found my transmission and brake fluid needed flushing and replacement, and air filter replacement which was not a surprise on my 11-year-old car. It took a long time, and finally one of the mechanics let me know that when they were removing a wheel to access portions of the car that one of the bolts broke and wasn't able to properly re-attach my wheel safely. They had already ordered the part so I could get on my way, but it would take a while longer. It was unfortunate timing, but they handled it really well and absolutely tried to make up for the extra time and hassle. The manager came and spoke to me, he was super nice and really wanted to make sure everything was ok, despite the fact that no one had any control over whether that piece would break. I'll definitely be coming back for my next oil change, and really appreciated how kind they were. 2.5 hours after walking in, I walked out with a safely re-attached wheel and a smooth-running little old car. read more

Are you willing to have the wrong oil put in your car at a basic price? Well, if so - then this is the place for you. When I sent my wife there to have our car's oil changed, they put in the wrong oil. I specifically requested 0w20 mobil 1. They botched it and put in 10w30, against my wife's instructions and the owner's manual. I got "told" that there was nothing wrong with that weight of oil, and that it was "perfectly fine" for my vehicle. Their manager had to be an old lunch line lady, because her attitude was about as sour when it came time for us to talk to her about it. She obviously had to deal with the high school drop outs in the garage, so she wasn't about to admit they had done something wrong on her watch. I have come here for a few years. This place is excellent for a no-nonsense, professional, affordable and speedy oil change and fluids check. Don't worry about planning your entire day around dropping your car off, waiting for hours.. then coming back to pick it up. Takes about 20-30 minutes at the absolute most. Be Very Leary, they are starting to commit FRAUD even on a Basic Oil-Change. So I take my Car to Lube-It on January 8th, 2020 like I've done at least a Dozen times. I always buy my own Mobil-1 Oil and My own Filter because a Relative works at an Auto-Zone and I take advantage of his Discount. When I arrive I hand the Mechanic My Oil and Filter and I go into the waiting Lobby like I always do. I pay My $22.00 for the Oil Change and Filter install and go about my way. I had an appointment with a GMC Specialist the following Monday January 13th, 2020 My check engine light was on and I had noticed a dropping of some fluids on my Driveway. My Mechanic tells me that I need a Purge Valve and that he had to tighten my Oil-Filter that there was Oil all over that area. I go to the bay and Lube-It had installed some BULLSHIT Filter that they carry and hadn't even installed My Mobil-1 Filter (See Pictures Below). I am still trying to work this out with them, I called and talked to the Owner Amad and he hasn't returned my Call. I am DEMANDING a FULL OIL CHANGE AND COMPENSATION FOR TIME AND GAS TO THE FACILITY AGAIN. The Owner has NOT GOTTEN BACK TO ME SO I guess I will have to handle this in Small Claims Court. I don't believe they even used My Mobil-1 Oil at this point. Be very cognizant of them working on your car. The Service man is going to up-sell my filter to another customer with a GMC Vehicle. Ok I'll save the dramatic Yelp prose and get the to the point: 1. The oil filters they use are the smallest, cheapest, filters I've ever seen. 2. They cross threaded my drain plug. I used to be able to loosen the plug with a one tug of a wrench and then hand turn it the rest of the way. Not anymore. The threads are a mess. I've worked in a few shops throughout high school and college. The only people who do this are incompetent and/or negligent. 3. Considering the filters, I doubt they use Penzoil as the name suggest. Cheap shops use the cheapest oil they can get. 4. I checked the oil right after they changed it. The oil was already black less than 5 miles on my 1.6 liter stock Honda engine, which is in good shape. Did they even change the oil? Well there is a pro. They're fast. But the shop was empty with about 5 guys hanging around. The cashier lady was nice. I'm not sure what the vacuuming and window cleaning is about, didn't see any of that going on. Yes, my car still runs, and yours will too even if you go here for years, but, if you want a decent filter and good (or even new) oil, find a decent shop. I would say you get what you pay for but, you can get a decent oil change for $35. Just not at this place. I normally do my own oil change, but was in a rush to do it before a big trip. I've been taking my car here for over 10 years. I'm usually in-and-out in under 30 minutes (including waiting in line). The little old lady at the register is a sweatheart and has been working there the entire time that I've been going. I like that she always remembers me. With $5 coupon, it's $30 for the "full-service" oil change. If you have a old car, like mine, they will always try and up-sell you on things you need fixed. Especially, the Air Filter. That always comes up. When I went in this time the guy showed me a whole list of things wrong, totaling over $400. Luckily, I already know that my car is overdue for maintenance. The Oil Slick in the driveway was my first clue. Nevertheless, he showed me where & why my car is leaking oil and it's nice to be reminded with some specifics so I can anticipate what needs to be done when I finally take it to my mechanic. Overall, I haven't been coming here 10+ years for nothing. It's worth driving out of my way for some consistency & reliability. Plus, it's right next to Mr. Car Wash. Terrible!!! Last week i went to have an oil change and was told I needed to replace the brake pads. They tell me it'll be an hour (so I leave). An hour later I call back and they tell me they don't have my brake pads in stock, but someone is delivering them. Then 1.5 later they call to tell me the wrong brake pads were delivered. Then, the following week they call to inform me they have the correct pads. They replaced them and my brakes make loud noises they never made. They inform me I probably need to replace the rotors (which I wasn't informed of before). So $200 and significant amount of time wasted later, I have brake pads that are less effective and noisy. I've gone to Pennzoil Ten Minute Oil Change in Alexandria every 3 months for the last three years. It's about $35 for oil, lube and filter. They also wipe down the dashboard, clean the windows and vaccuum the carpets. They are very efficient because oil changes are just about all they do. After your first oil change, they send you reminders every 3 months in the mail with a $5 coupon. A good tip is to go at odd times like right when it opens so you only spend 10-15 minutes there. If there is a line of a few cars, the ten minute oil change you're expecting turns into an hour-long errand. If you go on a Saturday and you're not there a few minutes before opening, I would forget about it and go during the week. The Pennzoil is located next to a Mr. Wash so you can go there next or if you're hungry for a bite, Senor Chicken is right across the street and Pho King and The Dairy Godmother are down the road. The 5 stars is for the ease, convenience, consistency of quality service and kindness of the staff. Don't expect any fancy white glove treatment - this is a quick and dirty oil change place. read more

I have been taking my car to Pennzoil Ten Minute Oil Change for nearly 5 years and I still love this place. I used to live pretty close to there but even now that I'm in DC I drive 15 minutes out of the city to get my car serviced here. Not only are the efficient, but my car has never had any problems since I've been taking it here. I also feel strongly that the people that work here are honest when they make recommendations about changing certain filters or valves that may need it. It's not the type of place that literally every time you're in they insist you need a new air filter. I usually do a full service change which is around $35. They also send coupons in the mail pretty regularly which drops the price by about $5. If you go Saturday in the middle of the day you're likely to hit a bit of a backup, but nothing dramatic. I really think the longest I've ever waited here is about 30 minutes. Great service, friendly people, honest recommendations. Not much more you could ask for! read more

I live across the street from this location and so I thought I'd give them a try. The Good: Very fast service. The bay was full when I first arrived, but I was still in and out in about 15 minutes (full service oil change and tire rotation). The price was decent. I paid $64 for everything, and that included their additional charge of $5 for 5W20. The Bad: The counter guy was real nice and cool at first, but when I was ready to pay my bill, he got kind of deceitful (as if he didn't want anyone to hear what he was about to say). He told me that it "was highly recommended" that I get my transmission flushed and all these different additives that would have cost an additional $100. My car only has 16k miles on it; transmission flushes aren't recommended for at least 30-40k miles. Getting your transmission flushed too frequently can be harmful to your car, and I shudder at the thought of all the people this tactic may have worked with. I'm actually surprised they took a chance on me falling for it; I'm a guy that looks like I work on cars all the time. Also, and this may just be me still babying my new car, but the guy finishing the last checks was talking on his cell phone at the same time and just let me hood drop all the way down because he was too lazy to bend down and latch it properly. And I'm not just talking about a couple of inches, I'm saying he was using his shoulder to hold the hood up and then just jumped out of the way and let it slam down. Yes, I did say something to him but he was still on his phone and didn't care. Oh well; that's what name tags and managers are for! Overall I give 3 stars because of super fast service and decent prices. Just be careful to not get suckered into all their extra stuff. read more

Both times I went, I was in-and-out quickly - within 20 minutes both times, but they definitely are trying to upcharge other services beyond the oil change. First time was the filters - $200 later, I didn't feel very good about it. I gave them another shot, this time, I got a list of services needed - valve cover gasket (189.99), power steering fluid (89.99) and spark plugs (129.99). I brought my car somewhere else for a second opinion, especially after going home through my car maintenance records, where they confirmed my initial suspicions. The power steering fluid and spark plugs were just recently replaced and did not need to be replaced at all. I'm glad I didn't get duped again. Bottom line - need an oil change, I'm sure this place is fine, but don't get tricked into other services without getting a second opinion. read more

When I called to ask about bringing my car back in the administrative staff rudely snapped at me both in person and over the phone, on top of having to bring the car back to have the labor corrected as the car brakes were not adequately examined and the car was not safe to drive. read more

I wish I had read the reviews before I went here, but it is close to my house and I was going for a simple oil change. Upon dropping it off, they informed me I had a cracked gasket that was leaking oil. The guy showed me and since my car is 12 years old and I would be driving 500 miles soon, I agreed to have them fix it. They also mentioned replacing my spark plugs but I declined. When I returned to pick up my car, the guy showed me my spark plug wires (removed from my car) and said they were too worn down so he replaced them. I NEVER authorized this. When I questioned why he would do something that I didn't consent to to my car he said he would not charge me for the oil change or labor. So, after going in for what should have been a quick oil change, I left paying $350+, $94 of which were for spark plug wires I didn't want and didn't ask for. The worst place to go to for an oil change. After the last time I went there, I was getting ready to take a trip and my intuition me to check my fluids under the hood. I'm glad I did bc the antifreeze was almost empty. I could have blown my engine just days after an oil change. Topping the fluids on an oil change is pretty standard but at a bare minimum they can check and let me know. Nope! Not here, not the first time they've done that either. I strongly did not want to go back after the first time they did this but the location is so close and there's hardly ever a wait here. There's a good reason why there's no wait, this place is no good. They will not take care of you at all. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

I waited 60 minutes and paid $83 and they didn't even vacuum out my car. They had a sign that showed what you get for full service oil change with no sign that they offered anything different. After they brought my car out and I asked about the vacuum and dashboard wash they showed on their sign she told me that was full service and I only asked for oil change. Apparently it's $5 more but when I asked if they could vacuum and I pay the extra $5 she told me they were busy. HORRIBLE SERVICE AND WAY OVERPRICED FOR THE WORK THEY DID. read more

I have used this place twice for an oil change, and my first trip there, they recommended a new air filter and a transmission flush. None of these were costly, and they should have been pretty easy things to do. Unfortunately, even the most simple procedures are too much for these guys. They must have lost the screws to reattach the cover for the air filter, so they just put the cover back on my car without attaching it!? I just found out about that when doing something else to the car. It looks normal, but eventually worked itself loose. Then the idiots recently didn't put the oil filter on properly, because it split and began leaking oil out around the filter shortly after the work was done. My car is older and uses a little oil, so I didn't notice it right away, but recently had the car raised and noticed the problem. I am now having some other work done at another mechanic and will have them check for any other problems related to this incompetence by Lube it. Fortunately, I check my oil regularly or this could have been a major problem, a locked up/ruined engine with no oil! Obviously, I wasn't happy at all, but it's hard to prove anything, so this review is the best I can do. I just recommend that anyone considering using these guys should think again. I have used Yates Auto Service for several things recently, and even though they're more expensive, spend the extra money. Saving $20 on your oil change is not worth a ruined engine! I had a similar thing happen at a Jiffy Lube on Duke St. several years ago They didn't put on the oil plug correctly, and oil leaked out. This is not a difficult repair, and in fact, it's very easy! I just don't have a place to do it, tools, or time. This is a service that I should be able to use a Lube it or Jiffy Lube to do for me. Apparently, you get what you pay for. Price for the base oil change is decent. Other services they will try to push on you are overpriced. The line moves fairly quickly. They have a checklist comprised of a list of basic services you get automatically when you bring your car in. One of them is an Armor-all wipe down of your interior dashboard. My dashboard was not touched at all, yet on the receipt they provide, they lie and say the service was done. Also, I watched them check the tire pressure on only the passenger side wheels of my car. They "changed" my oil in less than 10 minutes with the Full Service option. When I checked if the interior had been vacuumed or Armour-All the dash, they said it was, but it wasn't. I asked if they even changed the oil. They said they did. After the second service when they wiped the windows and vacuumed, I once again lifted the hood to see if fluids had been replaced. They had not. There was not washer fluid at all. I took it back in. The woman at front desk said maybe I had a leak or something. Riiight. My tires had not been checked for pressure and nothing had been done on fluids inside the engine. They literally just changed the oil (I think) and then pulled the car out of the garage. I had been coming to this service station for over 10 years. Maybe they need to tighten it up a bit because this is awful business practice. read more

Everyone needs a check-up from time to time. You know what? So do our vehicles - which is why we've been blessed with Pennzoil. They usher you in and get you out as quickly as possible. Ten to fifteen minutes depending on the car's condition is the normal wait time. Forgot your coupon at home? No problem, they print one out for you without any haggling. I really don't know how to rate an oil change.. pfft. These four stars are all for customer service. read more
