Wow! I can't believe I have drop this spot's rating. I have been coming here for years, and I still think their inspection service is excellent, but their customer service at the front desk is horrible. I stopped in to ask if they could repair a tube running from the Cat to the air pump and was told, "I'm not going to touch it." I was stunned "Why?" "You drive that Crown Vic." "Yes" "Parts break on those old cars. It is not worth my time," said the service manager. "But you've done work on it before?" "I'm just not going to touch it. You can get the school to do work on it if you want, but I'm not going to touch it" And there it was. The fact that I work at a school where I can get our Auto Tech to work on minor issues for free had obviously upset the service manager. He had blackballed my beloved Roadbeast simply because it older than 25 years of roadworthy glory. I quickly called another shop and explained my situation, asking if my car was too old. The attendant on the other end laughed, telling me that his shop they don't discriminate against the vintage and unique. .. I guess I will be taking my business elsewhere from now on. P.S. I had to get an emission test for my vehicle, and this station was listed as an accredited place to get it done. The guy who worked on my car was awesome - he told me to by first thing at 7am in the morning (since when I arrived, it was closing shop), and he said he'd get my car in and out in 5-10 minutes tops. Well, I showed up the next morning, and he got to it right away. Prices are comparable to any other emission/inspection sites. There's also a little customer waiting room with comfy leather chairs with a TV where you can relax and wait. I highly recommend this place for anyone who wants their car to be checked out, or if you have any car testing to do! Bought new tires to swap onto my stock wheels from Tirerack.com. Had initially planned to get my tires installed near our house, but they were swamped. Looked for something near work, and Royal Service Center popped up. Pulled up and Jim met me inside. Very nice, cut to the chase, and they had my keys/info in minutes. Took ~1 hour and I was all set. Pricing on Tire Rack's website was accurate. My only gripe, and this applies to all tire installs, is when keeping the same rims - why's there a mandatory TPMS fee? I have done my oil change here before & I was happy. But the second time I went very early in the morning. The person who was supposed to do the job wasn't there yet but the old guy behind the register said to me that I'll be the next in line. I didn't see any car before me but I waited for a while until I've noticed a car pulled up next to me & that's the mechanic guy . The old guy behind the register charged me $101.98 much higher than the car dealer which is $42. I couldn't back out anymore because I have to be somewhere & I already wasted my time waiting. I drive a 2013 Honda SUV & not a Range Rover or Mercedes When I got home I realized I was duped ! Being an older Asian woman the old guy behind the counter took advantage of me! I trusted this gasoline station but I'm not going back there & I'll spread to my clients to be careful & avoid this gas station. They became too greedy to make more money. That's a shame! read more

Started use this place because they are a Tire Rack installer. Recently took one of the family cars in for a long list of issues I'd been worrying about. Jim wrote down all my requests and called me later with the estimates. I approved the work and they got the tasks completed quickly. I also use them to refill my propane tank for my bbq. They may not be the cheapest, but it sure is convenient to take my empty or near empty tank over on a weekend and be back home with a full tank in minutes. read more

I was looking for a shop to do a wheel swap on my 2013 Jeep Wrangler and I found their contact info on tirerack.com. I called to get a price quote, reasonable, and set up an appointment. Now, let me tell you that It can be tricky to be a meticulous type-a customer in this day and age, but the fine folks at Royal Service Center's attention to detail made me feel quite at ease with their work & skill level. A pleasant fellow named Jim greeted me up on my arrival and unlike most shops (or every doctors office you have ever been to), they were ready for me right on time. I reluctantly handed over my keys and a *very* happy tire tech changed out one wheel at a time to ensure the tires all ended up in exactly the same position on the new wheels while singing and smiling the entire time. They had no trouble working with TPMS sensors and aired up my tires using precise digital pressure gauges. There's not much of a waiting area, but then again this is a service station not an expensive car dealership w/ espresso machines, Italian leather couches, & flat screen TV's. There are a few chairs and a bench, but there's also plenty of places to walk to with in 0.25 - 0.5 miles to get a soda/coffee/burger/sushi. If I am allowed one complaint it would be that their hours of operation were a little tricky for my schedule, but they've had the same hours for 19 years I'm told so it obviously works for them. Bottom line, this type-a customer has a new tire shop. And that's saying something. read more

If you are looking for a last minute, same day propane fill up, Royal Service Center is your place. It is SLIGHTLY less expensive than Propane Taxi (not enough of a savings to get me to abandon Propane Taxi) 4 gallons cost me about $19.00 before taxes. Cannot recommend this place in good conscience. I live close by so I left my car early morning with a request to check out the wheel alignment or tire balancing. I knew something with the wheels was "off." Was told all belts in all tires were broken and I would need all new tires. The tech showed me how he knew. And his "test" didn't pass muster with me. My tires are 2 years old and it doesn't make sense with the type of driving my little hatchback does that all belts would be broken. Hmmmm. I also knew I had a 75k mile warranty on those tires from Just Tires in Vienna. I was too suspicious and left. The next day I took the car to Just Tires in Baileys Xroads for a diagnosis. One - ONE!! - tire needed to be balanced and they adjusted the alignment slightly, and off I went within 30 minutes!! NO CHARGE!! No belts broken! Sadly I cannot recommend the dishonest practices or just plain incompetent technicians at the shop. I was hoping since I was new to the neighborhood I could find a close and reliable service place but it is not this place. Will continue to go elsewhere read more

Our only experience with Royal has been their inspection service, which we have used for years. This service and the gentleman who performs it is what we are reviewing. There has not been a single instance over ten years when we have not found him absolutely honest, professional, courteous, and expeditious in completing the inspection process. We have recommended them to friends who were also very satisfied with their experience there. Infrequently there have been problems with a safety check, but when they were discovered, whoever drove the vehicle was always shown the problem and, when requested, offered suggestions as to how to resolve it. We were never victimized with repair requirements that were not genuinely needed to pass the safety or emissions check. He has inspected new and older vehicles and we have never had an instance when it appeared that the cause for the inspection failure was designed to increase Royal's car repair business. We unhesitatingly recommend the gentleman who does the emissions and safety inspections. read more

BE WARNED !!!! I took my car for repair , with one front tire caliper lock problem. They charged me $1150 (and 4:50hrs labor cost). And after one day the back wheel locks.... I just drove it 20 miles... am sure they have done those cheap money trap. When I call them they need to estimate a new charge. They are not even thankful for the very expensive service they did. My daughter had a flat tire over a weekend, and we were concerned about having her drive on a "donut" any farther than necessary. The installed price at two local tire merchants equaled Royal Service Center's, and they had the tire in stock. The Yelp reviews were terrible, though, so we ordered the tire through Tire Rack Monday, regular delivery. We got an email that it arrived Tuesday afternoon, and within minutes, a call from RSC asking when we wanted to come in. I took the car in early Wednesday, and was in and out in about 45 minutes, with no hard sell that the wheel needed to be replaced or that both tires had to be replaced. Jim himself moved a back tire to the front, installed the new tire on the back, checked the pressure on all 4, and I was on my way. read more

I'm not sure where all the negative reviews are coming from. The service at Royal is the Royal treatment. If you need service on your car just call the service guy Jim and he will explain everything. They can give you full service and parts - or you can bring in your own parts! This ability has saved me many thousands on my Lexus RX as my husband knows where to get the genuine Lexus parts online. Super nice mechanics and great service on all cars. I've saved so much by using them instead of dealership. Like any business, go over the details before the work is done and determine price. Everybody is fairly pleasant and friendly, however it is pricey and a dump (think slums with 90's hospital waiting room furniture). I ordered 4 tires for my 2012 Evo MR off of tirerack.com, and even called to ensure they could accommodate my order prior to placing. Was told they would call me upon receiving of the tires, but they did not. I received a receipt via email saying they had arrived and finally after waiting multiple days, I had to call them. THIS PLACE WILL TRY TO SCAM YOU! I dropped my car off there to get an oil change and inspection. While in a work meeting, I received a voicemail that I had a hole in my tire but not to worry about it because they replaced the tire for me and, by the way, that'll be $185. I immediately called them back and was pissed to find out that WITHOUT my permission, they had done this. I told them to put my old tire back on and that I will not be paying for a new one. One week later I took my car to the dealership to have them look at it. They confirmed that all my tires were perfectly fine. 4 months later and I'm driving around with no problems and $185 in my account because I didn't fall for their scam. I'm writing this now because I overheard a coworker say the same thing happened to her! I'm appalled. How dare them try that twice. read more

It's interesting that "Service" is in their name, because apparently their manager has never heard of this word before. I brought my propane tank here yesterday, and they a) cannot properly fill a propane tank and b) didn't care that they improperly serviced the tank. I had them fill my propane tank with 4.3 gallons and when I got home, it would not work on 2 separate hook-ups, both of which worked yesterday - no propane was coming out. I spoke with a gentleman named Al, and he told me to bring the tank back and he would check it out. When I arrived, Al was out to lunch, so I explained the situation to the manager, whom promptly said, "All we do is service tanks - we don't fix them." Since they improperly serviced the tank, I thought they should at least investigate what was going on. The manager was downright nasty and told me it was my problem and said "what do you want me to do about it?". After 5 minutes with arguing with him, another guy stepped in and decided to test it out. Lo and behold, it was filled with air and even after purging it for 5 minutes, no propane was coming out. Even though he was helpful, he told me just to purge the rest at home if it didn't work. When we went back to the manager, he couldn't even muster a "I'm sorry, we screwed up." He didn't even seem concerned that I wasted a good hour of my day trying to resolve this issue, which ended up not working anyway. I asked them why a used tank would have that much air in it, and they just shrugged their shoulders. Not shockingly, it still didn't work when I got home after letting it run for 5 minutes. At this point, I had no desire to deal with these incompetent people and decided to trade it in for a new one at Home Depot which was cheaper and easier. Bottom line - their propane is expensive, and if they improperly service your tank, don't expect them to care. read more
