I chose Lube It because it's the closest oil place to my apartment. I thought I might have made a bad choice when I first saw it. Not that it really matters much with a mechanic but the place definitely isn't making any attempt to look nice. In any case, they took my keys, I told the lady at the front desk my name and...that was it. Only five short minutes later she rang me up and I got in my car and drove away. Quickest, easiest oil change I've ever had. No upselling, no cross selling, no telling you this or that is almost broken and please give us a few hundred dollars to fix it because we know you have no clue if we're telling the truth. They just took my keys, did the work and rang me up. In a country where you can't even go to the dentist without having some manipulative bs marketing cancer pushed on you, it was deeply refreshing. And $30. That's not a lot of dollars for an oil change. Better than Jiffy Lube or Valvoline even with a coupon. I would have paid twice that for the privilege of going to a place where people just do what you came for and nobody tries to sell you anything. read more

If it was possible to rate this zero Stars I would. I was not happy with my visit there I have a BMW and they gave me a cheap $0.30 Korean products oil filter. Now I'm not even sure if they gave me synthetic oil. when I asked what kind of oil they put the guy just stood silenced like he didn't know what I was asking and not even a month later I took the car to the original dealership and ask to get it checked out the first thing they tell me is that I need oil change. When I knew that I had recently had an oil change done not even a month ago. The mechanic at the dealership took the filter and showed me how Dent it was getting. I was charged $80 when it wasn't even worth that price. worst place to ever get an oil change they are dishonest and they don't care about your car! WARNING SCAM. This is probably the worst place to get your oil changed at. I walk in get quoted two options 50 and 70 dollar oil change. Request the 50 and get told to pull my car to the white line. Keep in mind there are 6 workers and no cars being worked on. After about 5 minutes of them chit chatting I get told to pull my car in. Following exiting my car I say hi to the worker who doesn't reply and asks what I want. I tell him I just told the lady inside and he has no idea. He then goes on to say that they are out of the 50 oil and i need to get the 80 dollar one. (Unknown where the extra 10 came from) i then go inside and wait and read the 13 POINT INSPECTION WITH EVERY OIL CHANGE. This includes the changing of every fluid from brake to wiper fluid and wiping down of vehicle with armor wiping windows and filling tires with air. I then get told my cars ready and exit and every worker just stares at me while I'm staring at my car with its hood still up after being told it's done. Nobody does anything until I ask is it done then they nonchalantly close my lid and continue talking. When I get home I notice the bird poop on my window is still there my car is not wiped down and my tire with low air is still low. Place is a scam. Stay away. read more

BUYER BEWARE. RIDICULOUSLY DISHONEST PRICING & PEOPLE. The fact that this type of arbitrary pricing is allowed at this establishment is the reason I will never return to this particular Lube It ever again. Please read below for details on my experience. I recently went in for a routine oil change and was alerted that two of the belts on my car were cracked and needed to be replaced. So, having a general distrust of mechanics I asked how much it would be and was quoted with a price of $199.95 and was told that it would take about a half hour. I questioned the pricing thinking that this was a ridiculous amount to pay and the attendant, his name was Eddie, told me that this was the price that was set by corporate, but he would throw in a free air filter just grease the skids. So, I went forward with the service and after about a 15 min wait Eddie came back and told me that only the alternator belt actually needed changing and he adjusted the price to $144.95. While being rung up I noticed that the cashier was hand-jamming the price into the computer, which tipped me off that this was not in fact a "corporate price." After paying for the services I left and called the other Lube It in Merrifield to get a price quote on the same service and was quoted a price about 60 bucks less. I then called the auto dealership that I purchased the car from and was quoted a price that was even lower. So, I called this particular Lube It back and talked to the lady at the front who transferred me to Eddie, who then told me the same lies he told me before. I then asked for the manager who I told about everything. He then asked what the Lube It in Merrifield quoted me and he passed me back to the kind lady who answered my call who is sending me a check for the difference in amount. Price mix ups can be common. But my main beef with this place is that arbitrary pricing is even allowed. Eddie lied to me at least three times (first price, second price, corporate price), then the lady at the front didn't catch the egregious pricing for this service, and lastly the manager didn't sound remorseful at all and strongly suggested I get store credit instead of requesting a refund, which I couldn't even pick up that very day. I hope I get that refund check, my fingers are crossed, but given this place's track record I will not be surprised if it doesn't. One Plus is that the people that work here do seem very friendly. But given the dishonesty that I just encountered, I cannot recommend a place like this and feel obligated to share this experience to warn others about the culture at this place. read more

Been several times - Yes, quick and friendly, certainly a great job. Checkout person not very friendly. My car was ready to go, and, thanks to where the technician parked it when he was done was blocking other people from leaving. Yet the checkout guy called up the people whose cars were behind mine, leaving them to sit and wait until I was paid. Not a big deal.. no. And I agree with the statement regarding the ArmorAll.. Mine was non-existant - be sure to check when you get back in your car. read more

I took my car back here for another oil change. My Dad's been taking my car in lately and has been putting in regular not synthetic. So this time around I figured I'll just stick with regular since that's what's in my car now. However, they never asked me what type of oil I wanted and I told them just a regular oil change please. But since I was already in their system from the last time I came and had synthetic they automatically put in synthetic, without clarifying with me. Ugh, so I ended up spending more money than I wanted which was over $70. Also, they didn't top off any of my fluids or vacumn/wipe the windows as advertised. Also (formerly?) known as Lube-it (great name!). I'm not sure why this place gets so many positive reviews. I've been going here for 7 or 8 years, not because I love the place (I don't). It's convenient, reasonably priced, and I don't expect any frills at all, so that's fine. What's annoying is that more often than not, the technician will tell me that I need all kinds of extras. Yes, I have an older car, but how many new air filters and fluid flushes could it possibly need in one year? I always say no, and the few times I've asked them to show me what they're talking about, it's been bogus (I'm sure they're right *sometimes* but not those times). If the upsell worries you, you can always take the form they give you, with the recommendations circled, and ask a real mechanic for a second opinion. read more

This place advertises a 10-minute oil change with a manager's special at $19.99. My wife took our (2 year old) Honda Accord there because she was in a rush. In the end she walked out of there with a $90.00 bill. What's worse is they tried to get her to have the automatic transmission flushed - filled for an additional $79.99, the brake fluid flush for $139.99, and a tire rotation for $30.00. That's all fine and dandy of any of it were true but the fact is two of the three were just done three months prior by my buddy's brother at the dealership. Fortunately, my wife had the sense to say "no thank you" because she knew this was supposed to be a simple oil change. So congrats Lube It - you just permanently lost a customer because you either have a greedy business model or greedy employees (perhaps commission) that take advantage of those who don't know better. They get the job done but would like to take you for a few extra bucks while they're at it, if they can. I brought my car here a month ago and they tried to talk me into getting a transmission flush for $130. I have a 1995 Toyota Corolla with 163,000 miles and the flush will definitely cause more harm than good (In older cars, it will force debris through the transmission that can damage it). Besides, I had had the transmission drained and refilled at the previous oil change. I told the guy I didn't want it and he seemed very put-off and said "you asked for a full-service oil change..." Maybe out of spite, they didn't bother to vaccuum my car or wash my windows. I don't know what posessed me, but I brought my wife's 2001 Honda Civic there today - I was running a bit late and had to get it done soon as it was nearing 5000 miles since the last change (unless you drive a cab, there is no need to do it every 3000 miles). This time, they talked me into changing the cabin air filter for $25. I couldn't remember the last time it was done and neither could my wife and the filter was filthy...Fair enough, but when presented with the bill, it was almost $10 more than I had estimated it would cost. Why? According to them, the 5W-20 oil cost extra...This is total BS, I looked at the invoice and there was a labor charge for replacing the filter. They hadn't tld me about this or the extra charge for the oil. Take home message: All of these quick-lube places will try to sell you stuff you don't really need. But these guys are especially shameless. In general, I have found that places that don't do just oil changes (Midas, etc.) are perfectly happy to change the oil and filter and send you on your way because they don't want to be bothered with the extra work. I was pleased with my full-service oil change today. It was VERY fast, everyone I came into contact with was polite and helpful. Admittedly, I don't think they did anything to the dashboard, as they claim to, but they definitely vacuumed, which other reviewers have said wasn't done for them. While they did recommend that I get new brake pads for my rear brakes, and while this is a pricey extra, I said "No thank you" and received absolutely no added pressure. I should also add that I very likely do need new brake pads. I was just thinking earlier this week that I could start to feel that "womp womp" of brakes that are starting to go. A new air filter wasn't even mentioned, and I feel like pressure to buy an air filter is a given with an oil change. I'll be going back. read more

I thought I needed new wipers but they encouraged me to clean the ones I had and I would be all good. I appreciated that very much. Ok, so I have been a customer of Pennzoil ten minute oil change for several years. This morning I went to a new Pennzoil because I moved and the service was horrible. I went to get a steering fluid flush and spark plugs. The total should of been $180.00. Well, when I went to pay it was $265.00. The reason being they also charged me for an air filter, and high mileage oil. The problem is I told the mechanic no 3 times for the air filter and high mileage oil. I guess the customer got screwed, I got no dicount and the manager shrugged his shoulder. Do not go to this location of Pennzoil. read more

$75 for oil and filter change, really? Explanation given: "Well, it was Mobil 1 synthetic 10w 30". Guess I should have been smarter. For a full service check it's $34, at least that's what it says on the wall. They don't even have high mileage oil. I read the reviews and thought well 1 bad review out of all of them, the place can't be that bad. I should have known better when I pulled in and one of the technicians was laid out on a stack of wooden palates outside the shop resting. Maybe of no consequence, but the other one star review came from a fellow Californian who moved out here as well, I have CA plates on my vehicle. Maybe nothing, just saying. No oil and filter change should cost $75 dollars, I don't care what you are putting in it, especially for 10 min of work. Bottom line is I will not return here and can not in good conscience recommend this establishment. read more

I went this morning based on PC's review. There were a couple of cars in front of me, but the line moved very, very fast. Service was friendly and efficient and they had a sense of humor. They told me I needed new air and fuel filters. I hate these moments because I never know if it's true, or I'm one of those girls mechanics love to invent problems for. The car is pretty new and doesn't have much mileage on it. Anyone know a good place to brush up on my car literacy? :) Total cost of service (including filters which I decided to buy and the "deluxe oil change" which is $4 more than the "basic" one) was about $85.They did wipe things down and vacuum which was a definite plus. There's a small waiting area inside, along with free coffee and a few gumball machines. Watch carefully for the entrance to Pennzoil. The Pennzoil sign is closer to the driveway for Mr. Wash and my first trip around the block I turned into the car wash by mistake. read more
