This is the worst experience I have ever had at an El Pollo Loco location. What is not pictured are the ingredients (chicken and vegetables- Pico and lettuce) that are far past freshness. These are essential to making the classic tostada salad I have ordered on numerous occasions over the years at this specific location and even this year. Seen this chain around Texas. Finally been a few times since it's near my place. I was expecting something like Los pollos hermanos from Breaking Bad but sadly nowhere near that. That said, I can settle for LoCo despite my expectations. The tacos al carbon are the best value to me. Chicken is flavorful and you have the salsa provided should the chicken be too dry although that's rare. The chicken meals itself aren't bad. Only had dark meat here (drumsticks and thighs) since there's a shortage of white meat every time I'm here. I guess the breasts are in high demand which is a shame since I'm a breast guy. Chicken has good flavor although they aren't as big as other places. Maybe some HGH injections are needed for those birds. My sides of broccoli and Mac and cheese are nothing to be desired; but sides are sides so why reject them? Drive thru moves quick most of the time so it suits that concept of "fast" food. read more

This is the craziest chicken I know, to be honest. I've never really made El Pollo Loco my regular chicken stop, as others say that they have, and perhaps I should, because my experiences here recently have not been too bad, in fact it's been pretty damn great, once at this location and several times at the one on Silber. That's why I give them three stars despite being a massive chain, and then with one added star for being super good value and healthy but tasty chicken with great green sauce, perfect for lifting day. They're not dirt cheap but they have better products than a lot of other chicken shops. read more

So here I am writing a review about a chicken chain, despite being a plant-based person. But hey, I am here for the "vegan bandwagon" trend . . . I mean it's about dang time! So I can only personally remark on the Vegan Chickenless Burrito, which is pretty all right but admittedly not amazing. The plant-based "chicken" isn't a very convincing chicken substitute - it's chewy, but perhaps too chewy? I don't think it has a particularly discernible flavor, but the texture is a nice touch. What "makes" the burrito is the rest of the component - always a very generous dollop of avocado and heap of black beans. On a scale from one to ten, I would give it a six. I imagine the regular vegetarian version with the dairy based ingredients is probably tastier, but I wouldn't know. I can't say I would go out of my way and order a Chickenless Burrito if I wasn't also ordering other menu items for someone else, but I'm really happy that there's an option for plant-based people like me. A couple of my friends and my husband have informed me that the actual chicken is really delicious, so I suppose I should believe them. My husband now often opts for El Pollo Loco over Raising Cane's - one of his favorite chicken spots. So I guess that's saying something. The reason for the three stars is because this location has goofed up our orders twice now - in that they've forgotten items we've ordered and paid for. It's not a big deal in the grand scheme of things and we are perhaps partially to blame for not checking our orders after receiving them through the drive thru. I eat at different locations everyday, and never been treated so un welcome and disrespect before in my life. When I came in by the look on Victor's face I didn't feel welcome here. I asked Victor for a coupon book, he got one and didn't want to hand it to me, then I gave him my order and he needed the coupon book back ( which I handed it to him), but again he places it back on the counter for me to grab. They served me my food for here, just to turn around and tell me the Lobby is closed, and I have to leave in 3 minutes. I asked to speak with the manager, I beileve her name was Felicia. When she came, she was already angry from the get go, before anybody said a word. I asked her a simple question why would they serve me my food for here, then tell me I'll have to leave in 5 minutes. She said angrily, ' I served you before and you told you we close at 10.' This El Pollo Loco went from ground zero to fully functional only in a few short months. The whole construction process was so quick, it was insane! Crazy, I tell you! Crazy, I say!! I'd seen plenty of El Pollo Loco years ago when I was visiting Cali but had never wanted to try it, but now since there's a location that's nearby, why not try it? Looking at the menu, I was a little overwhelmed by the different choices that I was presented with. But I quickly decided to try the three piece meal (it was only $1 more than the two piece - no brainer, right?). Of course, being the breast man that I am, I opted for the two breasts with one wing. I also decided to try the mac n cheese along with some corn. I paid, I was given a cup and a little buzzer, and I waited. After a short couple of minutes, the buzzer buzzed and my meal was ready. Since I'm trying to be on the healthy binge (shut up! Mac 'n cheese is healthy, okay!!), I poured me some water instead of the many soda selections (coke product) or even some horchata. Now, let's see what's the madness is about. The chicken flavor isn't too bad. I thought it could use a little extra seasoning. But since I was given two corn tortillas, I tried shredding some chicken meat, mixing some mac n' cheese and corn in it, wrap 'em up, and bite them. Not too shabby at all. But maybe next time I should ask for rice instead of mac n cheese because the mnc was just average. The corn, however, was flavorful and good. Try it. All in all, I spent close to $10 for my meal, which wasn't too bad, The price is pretty comparable to Dodo's chicken that's close to where I live. However, at El Pollo Loco, you're given two sides and two tortillas of your choice. At Dodo's, you only get one side, no tortilla, but you get an extra wing if you order the half chicken white meat combo. Will I be back? Maybe considering that I get the majority of my protein intake in one sitting. I need them protein for some major gainz, you know? Yummy spot to eat at when you aren't looking for much to eat. The burritos are pretty big, but not all of them are 12" which they weren't, the inconsistency was annoying. Ordered two burritos and asked first to see what size of them since the picture seemed to assume they were small, but only the Ranchero was 12", although the Chicken Avocado was only 8". My burrito was bigger and longer than my boyfriend's which he was a little disappointed, but the chicken avocado one was a lot more flavorful than ranchero which tasted like it only contained rice and beans. I preferred the chicken avocado, except dang, it was so messy to eat. The already added sauce was seeping out of the roll as I was biting into it which soiled my jeans and my boyfriend's shirt. I'm surely glad we didn't go out to the movies with all that mess on ourselves. We definitely needed bibs while munching on the burritos. Overall, the price was right for what you get. However, the water cup is itty-bitty baby small...; can't complain as it was free. The drive-thru personnel didn't give us a problem either. The parking was spacious. read more

This location used to be good but the last few times I've been here service has been lacking. Sometimes they don't have rotisserie chicken and when they do have it, it's often dry. Today I ordered the chicken nachos combo and 3pc chicken meal. The food was ok but I didn't receive tortillas and extra chips for my nachos combo. Turns out I didn't need the extra chips for the nachos bc the chips were basically dry with hardly any nacho cheese. Not a big deal but annoying. Also the woman taking my order sounding like she had just woken up from a nap and I had to repeat my order bc she wasn't paying attention. It took a while for someone to get my attention at the cash register. The girl taking orders at the drive-through came and took my order. She was nice and gave me a cup for a free drink due to my waiting. I saw horchata which I was tempted to try but the triple-digit heat in Houston called for iced tea. They have sweet and unsweeted and you can get lemons for it at the salsa bar. The salsa bar has an assortment of salsas (mild to hot), onions and cilantro too. My taco al carbon was tasty with corn tortillas that tasted homemade. And I was impressed with the cole slaw. It wasn't swimming in dressing. I gave three stars because a lady in the kitchen and mixing a pot of food, was eating while she cooked. I told one of the employees and she asked who. But I didn't want to cause a stir. The offending employee was now close to us where the cash registers are. She also serves food. It really bothers me when people are chewing and cooking. It looked like a pot of beans. They don't use wood buring grills here, so the taste is a little different but still very good. They have real good salads with awesome cilantro ranch dressing, chicken street tacos that will surprise you. From 2 piece combos to huge 12 pc family packs with sides for under $26 Lunch time is the best time to eat here all the chicken is freshly grilled. Don't recommend eating here after 8pm They stop grilling chicken 1 hour before closing so you might get regrilled chicken which by then its real dry and has no taste.
