I have always been a fan of lubys and was sad to hear they may be closing for good. With that being said now is the time to support them and get your cravings in! Food: I have been getting their fried square fish with Mac and cheese and one pickle for the the past 31 years or more lol. This has been my go to fish for years. For some reason that square fried haddock piece of fish is simply amazing! Breaded and fried to perfection. Always very tasty and quite filling. The Mac N cheese is another great dish. Also the yams are very good as well. I don't think I've ever had a bad meal at lubys. Great cafeteria food. Also their homemade desserts are amazing too! Thanks again lubys for Serving up consistently good food! I really hole they are able to figure out the financials and Lee some of their locations going. This is a Houston classic! You cannot go wrong with lubys. I am a fan.

    Really!

I love Luby's for southern, home style meals. I generally receive excellent customer service and great food. Today I hope was a fluke. I ordered a premium, grilled chicken salad and a fish combo plate. The food I received today was mediocre and the service was horrible. The server had to go back and forth from my car to the serving line over 6 times in addition to me placing my order and paying for the meal. It was like the person working the window and the person who took my order did not communicate. I am so happy I am a detailed person and I did not move from the drive through window til they got everything right. I got my cheesecake and it was great! I am not giving up on Luby's. I love their cheesecake.

My coworkers are introducing me to some great gems in the area and this one tops the list thus far!…read more We went to lunch early to beat the crowds because it is a popular place- especially in the evening and weekend because of the food and happy hour specials, but lunch special is pretty grand too. They have a 2 for $20 meal that includes a starter of choice and an entree. First off, the portion sizes are huge. I ended up taking half my food to go- and it tasted juat as good this evening for dinner! It came out quickly and the customer service was spectacular. They even flagged us down when we were about to leave because I left my jacket at the table. During our dining, we were checked on regulary by our server D'Anna. She was patient with us deciding on our choices for our orders and willing to give us guidance on entrees. We never had an almost empty water glass, and magically, even sitting outside on the covered patio, we did not have to fight with flies to keep them away from our food, but I wouldn't blame the flies one bit if they tried because Millie's has some amazing dishes. First off the fish dip is electrifying. Reminds me of seafood salad, but not as chunky. Delicious!!! A must try. I ordered the wedge salad for my 2 for $20 meal. It didn't come out with my other counterparts' apps because they were making the blue cheese dressing from scratch- SCRATCH! And boy was it amazing when it did come out! Fresh and refreshing. Once more, my philly was loaded with toppings! A little spicy than expected but not to the point that my tongue was burning. The beef tallow fries were also a pleasant compliment to my philly. Not salty at all and thick cut just how I like them so I can taste the potato. It was not only a great meal but exceptional setting to have a dining experience. I can see why this place is popular! Will be back for sure Millie's.

The patio is covered, lined with beautiful plants, and equipped with fans that help keep everything cool and comfortable. Even on warmer days, it feels like a relaxing place to settle in for a long meal. The food was fantastic from start to finish. We shared hummus as an appetizer, followed by grilled salmon, and somehow still found room for sorbet for dessert. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and well prepared. Most importantly, my humans ordered me my very own side of grilled chicken. As a professional food critic, I can confirm that it disappeared immediately. Another nice touch is the outdoor family area. There is a dedicated space for kids to play along with a large TV so parents can relax while keeping an eye on their little ones. It gives the restaurant a welcoming atmosphere without feeling chaotic. Between the excellent food, comfortable patio, and dog-friendly attitude, D'Alba is an easy recommendation for anyone dining with a pup. Dogba's verdict: Beautiful patio, outstanding food, my own grilled chicken entrée, and enough plants to make a tiny Italian Greyhound feel very sophisticated.

Took a bite and wonder why it was so bitter and realized how burnt the bottom was. Eating food this burnt is carcinogenic. The salmon bowl is what I had last year at D'alba and it was also burnt. Please check your cooking operations. Besides that, the menu is pretty limited for lunch bad mostly consist of salads and burnt pizza for the weekday lunch menu.

We enjoyed a glass or two of wine, tossed some darts, and soaked in the relaxed, unpretentious vibe. It is casual in the right way. Easy to talk, easy to stay, and not trying too hard to be anything other than a solid local bar. The real highlight, though, is Posty the bar cat. An adorable black and white cat who clearly runs the place. Getting to know Posty outside was an unexpected and genuinely charming moment that made the stop memorable. If you are a cat person, this alone will win you over. Even if you are not, it is hard not to smile. Great drinks, darts, friendly energy, and a bar cat that steals the show. Hippo Burgers popped up on my Yelp search and was not too far away, so I bookmarked it. Could have went to the Popeyes near by, but I really had a taste for a burger. Reviews were solid, so I figured why not?! Drive was bumpy to HB, but that is typical for the Aldine area, so drive carefully! Parking lot was plentiful even during lunchtime, but I did arrive just before 11:30 so I may have missed the lunch break traffic. Still about half of the restaurant was filled up. The menu is straightforward and outlines the ingredients on the burger. Desiring a burger with bacon, I ordered the BLT Burger- without mayo added mustard. You will find that the burgers are not too overly inclusive with a bunch of toppings but include one ingredient that makes it unique enough to make a statement (i.e. bacon, mushrooms jalepanos...This gives HB time and focus to make an oustanding meaty and flavorful patty to showcase their burgers which gives it that homemade burger vibe. Plus the order came out quick! Portion size was generous and worth the price. Very tasty burger that will keep you full the rest of the day. I cannot forget the fries, which came out fresh and hot. A pinch of salt- just how I like them, which was the deciding factor for me to eat at HB versus driving back to training and risk my fries getting cold! I gladly indulged in every single bite of my burger and fries. Plus, I love that they have Pepsi versus Coke beverages. They sell one cup size for fountain drinks. Dining in? free refills! I also liked that the tables are spaced out and give people room to eat. Tables provided plenty of paper towels as well as you sink your teeth into your burger and possibly get a little undignified. No one will blame you. Good food deserves to be devoured and I most certainly will be back again to indulge accordingly.
