    Shrimp cocktail

A random find for Saturday lunch and a good one at that! We didn't know what to order so we just ordered a bunch of random stuff between the 3 of us to split. Cool ranch chips with roasted vegetable queso - 10 out of 10, the chips were delicious and the queso was good too. Shrimp cocktail was basic but good Wedge salad with shrimp, delicious and good dressing. Seared branzino was flaky and delicious, but will try grilled next time. The mashed potatoes were good and most of the vegetables. We got the creme brûlée but wasn't a big fan , the custard was a bit thick and not smooth. I would opt for something else next time. Will definitely go back to try more things as well. I think only 2 ppl were working but service was still good and we felt bad that every thing was on them.

This place is amazing. This is better than a five star restaurant. The hamburger bowl was incredible. The fish platter was really good. The lobster bisque was also amazing. I'm already craving another hamburger bowl. Marc was an amazing waiter and very friendly. Mannie was so busy cleaning all the tables and doing a great job.

Great family spot with a wide variety of food and drinks! They have a wonderful outdoor patio in both the front and the back, with big games on the TV. The back also has an enclosed play place. The food is excellent and rich, with large portions. Be sure to try the fish tacos and the gumbo!

I realllllly wanted to love this place because I love the space and location. the interior is super cute but the weather has been so nice lately, we opted for outdoor seating. we also had our dog with us. we ordered mixed fruit infused prosecco to share. for the price, it felt like it was all fruit and no prosecco. they were quite generous with the fruit, none the less. 2 of us ordered bloody marys and they both were made differently. one was super salty with a gazillion capers and the other was salty with no capers. for food orders, we ordered: -bbq shrimp and crab was a huge bust. it tasted like ALL hot sauce and definitely not like new orleans or bbq shrimp like it was described (did I mention i'm from nola?!) -the burger bowl-- our chief complaint was the burger patty was tiny. nothing special about it -a bowl of gumbo but that too lacked protein but the flavor was good -hash brunch dish which had mainly hasbrowns with again, little protein -scallop and grits, had tons of vegetables and not enough grits but flavor was surprisingly delicious. scallops were different but were a little burnt but was ok. food took long and they didn't seem too busy. overall, I rate Millie's 3 stars. not sure if we will try again as the bill was close to $250 and service and food was just mediocre

What an amazing find. It doesn't look like a restaurant from the road, but inside it is so cute. I wanted to give it a 5 star but a couple things fell short. I'm sure the manager could discuss those with staff, but I review what we see. First of all Food was amazing. The menu items had some different choices than we are used to and we were thrilled. Our service was great. Everyone helped each other and all were willing to accommodate even if was not their section. The ambiance def family friendly and has outdoor dining and a small play area for toddlers, not really set up for older kids. Please give this place a try and don't judge a restaurant by the exterior. We would have missed a great find if we had kept driving. Ok. Now for the things that were negative in our book. Serving soft drinks in the can. Men's bathroom was completely out of soap. Limited Parking so they use a valet. We did not know ahead of time to bring cash for a tip. But overall a solid 4 for sure.

    Scallop bacon risotto

The scallop risotto was phenomenal. One of the best meals we've ever had! I can't believe we have never tried this place. It'll definitely be our new favorite. We also tried the chicken fried steak which was also delicious!

A couple of coworkers had recommended this spot for lunch and I finally got to check it out the other day. They've got a great lunch special! $20 for an appetizer and an entree from a pretty solid list of options. As soon as I saw lobster hush puppies on the app list, I had to try them. Did they taste like lobster? Not really. Were they still delicious? Definitely. For my main dish I took my coworkers' advice and got the hamburger bowl. Its basically a deconstructed burger without the bun, served with fries, queso, and a fried egg on top. I didn't read the full description beforehand and thought I was ordering something on the healthier side... turns out it's smothered in queso, so not exactly a "light lunch," but no regrets. The burger patty was well-seasoned, the fries were my favorite part, and the whole mix together was so good. Heads up: the portion was huge. Normally that would mean leftovers for the next day but this isn't the kind of meal that reheats well so come hungry if you're ordering this! Service was super fast which is perfect for a lunch break. There was plenty of parking when we went at around 12pm on a Friday. You can choose indoor or outdoor seating which is always a plus. I'll definitely be back.

Excellent service. Great outdoor patio seating. $20 for 2 course lunch menu was a good value for food quality and portion size

Eat. Drink. HTX. Millie's Kitchen & Cocktails is such a cute neighborhood restaurant. Tucked into Oak Forest, it was such a chill place to enjoy dinner with a couple of friends. Ordered off the Eat, Drink, HTX menu. This is basically the little sister of Houston Restaurants Week. Brunch and lunch are $15. Dinner is $25 for an appetizer and an entree. Our table got wedge salads and Caesar salads. Reliably good. Service was also very good. For dinner, we all got Gulf Red Snapper. Blackened. Grilled. Seared. The only prep we missed was fried. The blackened was the best of the three. Served with creamy mashed potatoes and steamed carrots and Brussels sprout, it was really a nice special. Next time, I would not get seared. The interior is so cute. Patio seating is available when the weather is nice. Limited parking, but they have complimentary valet available. A nice local spot for dinner with friends.

A charming Oak Forest neighborhood restaurant featuring a large covered patio up front, moderately sized indoor dining area with a private room and covered patio out back with a playground for the kiddos. This has become a go-to lunch spot for us. They have a two course lunch menu that features many of the entrees and starters from the main menu. The gumbo is good, smoked redfish dip is great and calamari good with a cornmeal (?) breading. The lobster bisque is my favorite. Fish and chips is a single fillet that is huge. The Texas Rueben is a clever take on the classic sandwich. My favorite is the Texan Lost in Philly - an excellent version of the Philly cheesesteak. They also have a good happy hour alcohol selection. The space is bright with lots of windows and the team are friendly and welcoming. Give them a try.

Cute and casual spot for seafood. The seafood pasta was pretty good and probably my favorite on the menu. The lobster roll was pretty small and kind of a rip off. There is lots of seating inside and also a cute patio area. Very family friendly and kid friendly from what I could tell. Servers were nice too.

Is it impossible for someone without a smartphone to order here? Requiring app-only ordering rules out most old people.

You have to have a smartphone. And even for the not so old, the app can be a pain. You have to keep it updated to know all of the menu options.

    Is it dog friendly?

No. Not even for service animals

I wasn't too impressed the first time, and this visit certainly confirmed my initial thoughts. For La Lucha's Happy Hour, you get a choice between 2 types of oysters ($1.50 each). These were great - do this on a weekday before 6pm and you should be able to grab a table without a reservation. Barely even after we started eating the oysters, the waitress was already asking if we wanted to order more, instead of allowing us to just enjoy our food without interruptions. The menus they gave at our table were inconsistent and had different menu items. I had to ask for clarification if the redfish was on the menu since it wasn't on two of the three menus given to us. So, quality control was a miss. Rest of the menu... is limited. Everything was so greasy, from the fried chicken, the redfish, and shrimp tacos. * Red fish with pecans - 6/10. The fish did not taste like it was seasoned with salt. It was well cooked, not dry at all, but it lacked any sort of seasoning aside from the butter and pecans on top. * Shrimp Tacos - 4/10. I think I prefer Taco Bell over this one. The shell was greasy, not crisp (felt like it was stale), and I was confused with the combination of American Cheese and shrimp. They also added hot sauce or spicy salsa in the tacos - so a warning if you can't handle spice (not mentioned on the menu). * Half Fried Chicken - 5/10. The chicken was moist. Been here once before and it was quite dry, so I'm glad this was cooked well. You get 2 thighs, a wing, and a drumstick (4pc). Again, there was a lack of any seasoning on the chicken itself & the exterior. Sadly, the sauce that we picked was not the best either - oyster mayo. It would've been nice to try the others, but the half order came with one sauce. The seasonal jam that was available was the peach jam. It went well with the biscuits (half order comes with 2 biscuits, any extra is $1.50). For my people who get cold in restaurants, I would recommend bringing a light jacket since they turn the A/C up.

I would like to preface, this isn't a cheap quick dinner restaurant but I highly recommend coming at least once. We found it on the Michelin guide. I love the inside of the restaurant, the layout is fun and intimate. *grilled oysters were good. The flavor from the n'duja with the bits of pecan was something I would never think to pair. Great start! * elk tartare was surprisingly amazing. I always find tartare to be a tough dish to make outstanding and with elk I was hesitant to try but happy we tried it. The plate was cleaned by the time we finished. The cracker was light and paired well with it. * maitake mushrooms were so good that we had to split it evenly so no one got an unfair amount lol The sauce is like a coffee/caramel/chocolately savory sauce. Mt description doesn't do it justice. It's umami but has a caramelized feel. Just get it! * pork chop was the best pork chop we've had. We typically order steak over pork chops at restaurants but heard great things. Tender and flavorful. I will say it's a very rich dish so be mindful of that but highly recommended * grits, this was the dark horse. It was our favorite tapa. We laugh bc we didn't think grits would be the fav, out of all the amazing dishes. But the beef cheek underneath the silky grits... YUM! I'll be craving them *basque cheesecake was good but not the best we've had. But it's also hard to compete with all the other dishes we had

This is a bit of a dated review, but we came here for a Valentine's dinner as a special occasion. We got seats at the bar counter behind the fire (which to me was the best seat in the house) so we could be close to the action. One thing you'll notice is that the place is quite loud, I think which owes to the low ceilings (so don't expect like a quiet and romantic vibe). The meal started out great with the bread and butter - bread was sourced from Magnol, which was a huge green flag to start. The oysters were extremely fresh and absolutely delicious. We also had a dish with tuna over crispy rice which was my fiancee's favorite of the night. My personal favorite was the salad (I know that is crazy to say at a restaurant that specializes in live fire cooking) - but the way they zested all different types of citrus/lemons, peppers, chiles, and the way the herbs they put into it, created what was one of the most memorable salads I have ever had. All in all the food was excellent. Service was great (the night we were there, Max Lappe was there sending out food to customers himself). I do kind of wish the atmosphere was a little more quiet. With that said, expect to spend around $200pp (we did share a bottle of wine though).
