We have been here twice and we have LOVED the food! Service is always fantastic we went for our anniversary and my girlfriend was given one of the best dirty martini's she has ever had. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance is great inside and out[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] we have sat in both and [[HIGHLIGHT]]we were able to hold a conversation and hear each other.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There's plenty of parking on the sides I've never had an issue with finding a place!

The food is high quality and service is excellent. The restaurant is clean and inviting. They have a great lunch special: choose an appetizer and entree for $20. It's addicting, to be honest. It's delicious with large portions. Hard to pass up. We went 3 days in a row recently: lunch in, dinner take out, and dinner in. There are options for everyone, and they're clear about ingredients. (Husband and I both have dietary restrictions.) Maisha is always awesome and professional. She's doing a great job managing Millie's. It seems to only ever be doing better and better. The entire staff is polite and professional. Including a couple photos of dinner in before the plates were licked clean! Cheers!

Their "Best Eva' Clam Chowder" was delicious! Pic doesn't do it justice. Flavor in every bite.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Great local spot with good vibes and service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Food was better than expected. Staff were very welcoming and very attentive even though the place was packed.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Millies is a little gem of a neighborhood restaurant with Plenty of seating inside and outside[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. There is parking available. I visited this place twice back to back, once for lunch and for Sunday brunch. For Lunch: They have $20 lunch special (Choose an appetizers and an entree). So I order the lobster hushpuppies appetizer and the fish sandwich w\fries for my entree. Both were very excellent. My friend had the wedge salad to start and the fried shrimp and fried oyster poboy w\fries for his entree. Also excellent. I ordered a Patio Flower cocktail which was very refreshing. Had the bread pudding with vanilla ice cream for dessert (very delicious). For Brunch: came with 2 other friends. Orders: fried shrimp and oyster platter (excellent), Reuben sandwich (friend said he did not really like it) and the shrimp and grits (delicious). Definitely have the red velvet bundt cake, you will not be disappointed. The house margarita on the rocks is also refreshing. Service is casual and prompt. Every one is friendly here. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a neighborhood spot filled with locals and the vibe is very relaxed[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is a small bar you can be seated at and they have a big menu so you will definitely find something you like to eat[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I will definitely make this a go-to spot for me and my friends. Come and definitely check out there specials (impressive)

A random find for Saturday lunch and a good one at that! We didn't know what to order so we just ordered a bunch of random stuff between the 3 of us to split. Cool ranch chips with roasted vegetable queso - 10 out of 10, the chips were delicious and the queso was good too. Shrimp cocktail was basic but good Wedge salad with shrimp, delicious and good dressing. Seared branzino was flaky and delicious, but will try grilled next time. The mashed potatoes were good and most of the vegetables. We got the creme brûlée but wasn't a big fan , the custard was a bit thick and not smooth. I would opt for something else next time. Will definitely go back to try more things as well. I think only 2 ppl were working but service was still good and we felt bad that every thing was on them.

Great family spot with a wide variety of food and drinks! [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have a wonderful outdoor patio in both the front and the back, with big games on the TV.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The back also has an enclosed play place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food is excellent and rich, with large portions. Be sure to try the fish tacos and the gumbo!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]I realllllly wanted to love this place because I love the space and location. the interior is super cute but the weather has been so nice lately, we opted for outdoor seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]we also had our dog with us.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] we ordered mixed fruit infused prosecco to share. for the price, it felt like it was all fruit and no prosecco. they were quite generous with the fruit, none the less. 2 of us ordered bloody marys and they both were made differently. one was super salty with a gazillion capers and the other was salty with no capers. for food orders, we ordered: -bbq shrimp and crab was a huge bust. it tasted like ALL hot sauce and definitely not like new orleans or bbq shrimp like it was described (did I mention i'm from nola?!) -the burger bowl-- our chief complaint was the burger patty was tiny. nothing special about it -a bowl of gumbo but that too lacked protein but the flavor was good -hash brunch dish which had mainly hasbrowns with again, little protein -scallop and grits, had tons of vegetables and not enough grits but flavor was surprisingly delicious. scallops were different but were a little burnt but was ok. food took long and they didn't seem too busy. overall, I rate Millie's 3 stars. not sure if we will try again as the bill was close to $250 and service and food was just mediocre

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This place is amazing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is better than a five star restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The hamburger bowl was incredible. The fish platter was really good. The lobster bisque was also amazing. I'm already craving another hamburger bowl. Marc was an amazing waiter and very friendly. Mannie was so busy cleaning all the tables and doing a great job.

I went to Millie's Kitchen & Cocktails on a Saturday morning for brunch with my wife and our toddler. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Millie's is a popular neighborhood seafood restaurant in Houston's Oak Forest area, known for Southern and coastal-inspired dishes, craft cocktails, and being genuinely family-friendly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, including patios and a dedicated play area for kids, which already sets them apart.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have private parking spots out front and a large outdoor patio facing the street.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We walked in without a reservation and were seated right away. They brought out a high-chair for our son immediately. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Inside, the restaurant was busy, but it was a colder morning so the front patio wasn't being used much.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They also have a separate backyard patio with a turfed, enclosed area where kids can safely play, which is a huge plus for families.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered from the brunch menu. [BRUNCH] +Lobster Roll for $38 - Maine lobster poached in butter, served in a brioche-style lobster bun with fries. My wife ordered this with fries, and I ordered the same dish with a Caesar salad. This lobster roll was excellent. They served the lobster folded into thick Texas toast and brought extra butter on the side. Easily one of the best lobster rolls I've had. It's definitely pricey, but absolutely worth it as an occasional splurge. The fries and salad were good, but the lobster roll completely stole the show. - 5/5 [KID'S MENU] +Basket of Fried Shrimp for $7 - Served with fries or fruit. My son didn't eat much of the shrimp, but I thought it was solid. He ate all the fruit. He had already eaten at home, so hunger may have been a factor. For the price, this was perfectly fine. - 4/5 Overall, Millie's Kitchen & Cocktails really impressed me. The lobster roll alone is worth returning for, and now that I've seen how seafood-forward the menu is, I'm excited to try more dishes on future visits. Add in the family-friendly setup, outdoor play space, and smooth service, and this is a place I'll gladly come back to for brunch (and more)!

What an amazing find. It doesn't look like a restaurant from the road, but inside it is so cute. I wanted to give it a 5 star but a couple things fell short. I'm sure the manager could discuss those with staff, but I review what we see. First of all Food was amazing. The menu items had some different choices than we are used to and we were thrilled. Our service was great. Everyone helped each other and all were willing to accommodate even if was not their section. The ambiance def family friendly and has outdoor dining and a small play area for toddlers, not really set up for older kids. Please give this place a try and don't judge a restaurant by the exterior. We would have missed a great find if we had kept driving. Ok. Now for the things that were negative in our book. Serving soft drinks in the can. Men's bathroom was completely out of soap. Limited Parking so they use a valet. We did not know ahead of time to bring cash for a tip. But overall a solid 4 for sure.

    Ultimate Burger Bowl

A couple of coworkers had recommended this spot for lunch and I finally got to check it out the other day. They've got a great lunch special! $20 for an appetizer and an entree from a pretty solid list of options. As soon as I saw lobster hush puppies on the app list, I had to try them. Did they taste like lobster? Not really. Were they still delicious? Definitely. For my main dish I took my coworkers' advice and got the hamburger bowl. Its basically a deconstructed burger without the bun, served with fries, queso, and a fried egg on top. I didn't read the full description beforehand and thought I was ordering something on the healthier side... turns out it's smothered in queso, so not exactly a "light lunch," but no regrets. The burger patty was well-seasoned, the fries were my favorite part, and the whole mix together was so good. Heads up: the portion was huge. Normally that would mean leftovers for the next day but this isn't the kind of meal that reheats well so come hungry if you're ordering this! Service was super fast which is perfect for a lunch break. There was plenty of parking when we went at around 12pm on a Friday. You can choose indoor or outdoor seating which is always a plus. I'll definitely be back.

Waited too late to book reservation so got bar seating but it was just fine and service was great. Upon arriving we were so nicely greeted by the hostess, felt very welcome. Our cocktails were very good--and Old Fashioned and a "Crime!". For a starter we had the aka obi, then the endive salad (best I've had!) and for entrees we shared the shrimp and the whole striped bass which is butterflied. For dessert we got the Basque Cheesecake and it was heavenly. Baso has quickly become my favorite high-end restaurant in the Heights. The portions are nice and the flavors are outstanding. We left beyond satisfied and looking forward to our next foodie adventure at Baso.

This is a bit of a dated review, but we came here for a Valentine's dinner as a special occasion. We got seats at the bar counter behind the fire (which to me was the best seat in the house) so we could be close to the action. One thing you'll notice is that the place is quite loud, I think which owes to the low ceilings (so don't expect like a quiet and romantic vibe). The meal started out great with the bread and butter - bread was sourced from Magnol, which was a huge green flag to start. The oysters were extremely fresh and absolutely delicious. We also had a dish with tuna over crispy rice which was my fiancee's favorite of the night. My personal favorite was the salad (I know that is crazy to say at a restaurant that specializes in live fire cooking) - but the way they zested all different types of citrus/lemons, peppers, chiles, and the way the herbs they put into it, created what was one of the most memorable salads I have ever had. All in all the food was excellent. Service was great (the night we were there, Max Lappe was there sending out food to customers himself). I do kind of wish the atmosphere was a little more quiet. With that said, expect to spend around $200pp (we did share a bottle of wine though).

I was so excited to try Jun on the heels of their impressive win of James Beard's Best Restaurant 2026 award, and my foodie friend and I eagerly embarked on the journey through their tasting menu. Alas, the trip turned bitter... multiple times. On the bright side, service was gracious and attentive, and I was impressed with our server's knowledge of the menu and prep details. And we actually kicked the meal off on a promising note with 2 highlights. The espresso martini was STELLAR and easily one of the best I've had. I was also dying to try the oysters (oysters + beef tallow = yes please!) that were not on the tasting menu, and the flavors were wonderfully complex: briny, savory, with a delightful kick from the chili oil. I couldn't wait for the rest of this meal! Unfortunately, we found every single course that followed to be decidedly underwhelming. Their tamales' flavor was flat, and its lack of any filling was disappointing though the chicken skin on top was tasty. The skin on the fish was flavorful, but the flesh was unremarkable and could have been saved with a sauce or even a brown butter bath. The bitterness in the brisket course was overpowering and off-putting, and the carrots also tasted bitter. The dessert course was split: the bitterness continued into the doughnuts, which was unpleasant, but the cheese flan was delicious. The restaurant itself is a tasteful mix of industrial chic elements, and the dining room space is on the quaint side. Parking is a bear as is the case with too many restaurants in The Heights, and there is no valet so plan accordingly. My friend and other patrons had to drive around and lurk for 10 minutes until class at the neighboring workout studio let out and opened up some spaces. Curb your expectations here... something someone should never have to do an award-winning restaurant.
