However, after driving 2.5 hours to get here, we were met by a hostess who flatly informed us it was reservation only. It is incredibly discouraging to see such a massive discrepancy between the online policy and the actual service. We were truly looking forward to a special outing, and while the interior looked quaint and charming from the doorway, we never got the chance to experience it. I'm giving a star because the atmosphere seemed lovely, but the lack of clear communication and the cold reception made for a very sad end to a long journey. Wow!! I've been coming to Nashville every year and I've never been to this place. The outdoor seating area is inside of a garden. We saw bees, swallowtails, and hummingbirds! I grew up in the Appalachian mountains, and this food has such a similar taste to how my family would make food in the early 2000s. If you're looking for new tastes this is your place! Overall a solid breakfast option! I've come to realize over the years that I'm a breakfast snob, so apologies if you disagree. The apple cider dirty chai was a fun idea but the flavors didnt meld together as easily as I hoped. The cider was good and the chai was good but they tasted a bit off together. The food was amazing. First arrival at 9 AM we stepped inside the building. There were three women scattering around, not really noticing us at first actually they did notice us. Finally someone came over and seated us when I ordered something off the menu they said "we don't have that today" I mean it was first thing in the morning. She could've said hey I just wanna let you know we're out of this major dish. Lol it was a bit of a guessing game. Do you have this? Do you have that? All the while there was loud commotions at the ice machine and laughing and talking amongst the servers. I will say the food was absolutely amazing. They cooked it exactly spot on, and her waitress ended up smiling and being friendly towards the end, I really appreciated the ambience and the quality of the food. I find it interesting that the bread does not come buttered. They bring it dry and you have to ask for butter. The one thing that was my absolute favorite was the potatoes I mean what is there to be excited about with the potato? Well, evidently at this place they found a way to do it then all my 56 years on this planet, I've never seen it done that way and they're absolutely 100% amazing well done! My only suggestion is don't play rock music from the 70s first thing in the morning. There's also a very strange mirror with a stuttered skeleton hanging on it that was quite out of context. I wasn't sure how to feel being in that space I wanted to love it, but there's too much chaos and loudness for my morning. OK the biscuits and gravy were really good. My husband said it was reminiscent of his mom's biscuits and gravy, which is a bacon grease gravy. I don't prefer that. They had a special lavender and thyme (I think that's what it was.....) iced tea going that was really good. I think they change out the iced tea flavors every week or so?? There is a nice flower filled courtyard on the way into the restaurant that is an option for eating outside during warmer weather. Dogs are welcome in the courtyard. We were greeted when we entered, in fact the hostess opened the door for us and welcomed us to a table. My granddaughter was given a kid's menu that also doubled as a coloring page along with some crayons to keep her occupied. The menu offers breakfast and lunch options with a great selection of vegetarian options. The food came out after a short wait. My granddaughter had the grilled cheese with fresh fruit. The sandwich was large and probably could have used a little more cheese. The fruit (grapes and apple) were cut up nicely. She was happy. I had the Chicken Ciabatta Sandwich with rosemary fries. The sandwich had a grilled chicken partial breast with an intense Swiss cheese, refreshing cucumber slices and a lot of aioli. The ciabatta is quite large and fresh. The shoestring potato's were good. They have a full bar and offer specialty cocktails. They also have a full coffee bar. Our server checked was attentive and checked on us regularly. The tables are pretty close together and seem to be in a traffic pattern that had people constantly walking pass us. I would ask for a booth next time. We arrived without a reservation a little before 11 on a Saturday and had a 90 minute wait. That's okay, we were able to shop around and watch the site to see our place in line. When we got seated though, it was 15 minutes for our server to show, we ordered - 15 more minutes for the drinks to arrive and another 30 for the food. So an hour waiting after being seated . My wife ordered the vegan hash. After she ordered she was told they were out of quinoa- a main ingredient. She had it anyway. It came with the potatoes not being cooked through. To fix it, the microwaved the heck out of it - the potatoes were still not all the way cooked, but enough to eat. And the rest of the food was then dried out. That was unfortunate.
