Super popular place, there was a constant flow of people the whole time. Everything on the menu sounded absolutely delicious-it was hard to choose. I opted for the avocado toast and one of the teas. I've heard so much about Main and Madison, but only this month did I finally make it during their open hours. Like much of downtown Franklin, the charm is in the re-use of the building. I don't know the exact history of the lives these walls have lived, but it's some old house that's now living its life as a great little breakfast spot. There is more seating upstairs, but pro tip: if you get a coffee or pastry with your sandwich, don't go upstairs first even though they hand you a number. That's only for your hot food. (My only complaint is that I wish they had made that clearer to save me the embarrassment.) Also when you're done, there are taller tables that are for your dirty dishes - they should have bussing buckets but didn't on this trip. Or I guess you can leave your table as is and someone will clean up. Another "wish someone would explain this" as it isn't super clear what the right thing to do is. Clean, cozy, and great food - everything we had was excellent. I'll definitely make my way down to Franklin in the mornings again! read more

Madison & Main is a trendy upscale coffee shop that serves sandwiches and salads. Their signature pastries are mind blowing - huge, beautiful and delicious works of art. The building is interesting because it was the first hospital in Franklin over 100 years ago. They have renovated the structure and the cafe is downstairs and a work space is upstairs. The staff is super friendly and will walk around filling coffee cups and chat. There is a real small town feel with lots of positive vibes. You order at the counter and they bring your food to you. Prices are reasonable. Food comes out quickly. I had the chicken salad. The salad greens and tomatoes were fresh and the chicken salad very good, with lots of nuts and creamy chicken. My husband had a seasonal pumpkin danish that was the size of a Frisbee. The crust was buttery and flakey. He loved it. We parked near the courthouse and walked. So many good food options for a brunch or a lunch! The coffee was amazing not to mention how different it felt from a Starbucks. I loved this little corner shop to start my day with. I got the lemon blueberry scone while my group got the breakfast sandwich and the quiche which they said were quite delicious. The service wasn't fast but wasn't slow. We got our food and drinks to go. The drinks were pretty fast in coming out but the food came out to us in pieces for a to go order which was quite confusing and we almost left without the quiche since it came out separately... I would definitely suggest eating there as it has a great vibe and then you don't miss any food that comes out in pieces. Went here while I was on one of my adventures. Greeted with a smile and the cashier was patient as I asked questions about what teas they serve. Very busy place, yet I found a spot on a stool over by their space where they have various merchandise such as tees, fresh local peanut butter and candles to name a few of the items. When you order they will call out your name for you to grab your drink and if you order food you will be given a number to place in one of the wood blocks spread throughout the shop. Even though it was busy the spot I sat seemed away from all the bustle around me. Everyone is helpful and when you finish they will take away your dirty plates and cups. My only complaint is that I live further away and only get to go here once a month or so... The quiche and fruit cup are very good. Seen this place advertised on Yelp so put it on my places to try. This morning I took my granddaughter here for breakfast. I got the vanilla latte and the bagel ham, and cheese. She ordered the croissant with chocolate inside. I also ordered the 7 layer bar. Total was $27. Wow I was surprised$$ The place is very nice looking inside and definitely hip. Close to Franklin College. They also serve Bloody Marys and wine. Not sure I will go back but only because of the cost. This is my go to spot for breakfast/brunch in Franklin. They have delicious pastries, food and coffees and the best tea lattes. Today I got a rose latte, a half and half/salad soup combo for 13.99. The soup was a deliciously spicy sweet potato. The soup came with a smaller everything bagel scone which was another moist scone. Tasted like a homemade biscuit- slightly sweet. The salad was the Thai bowl. It was a huge serving of both. Got to take most of the Thai bowl home as the servings are pretty large when you get the power bowl (a Mediterranean treat!) or the Thai bowl. Thai bowl was grilled chicken, edamame, kale, carrots, Brussels sprouts, onions and a vinaigrette. We also split a chocolate cherry scone. It was moist and delicious. I was recently in Franklin and found this little coffee and pastry shop. Main and Madison was a bustling place when I stopped in there on a Saturday morning. There is public parking right next door to the place but it was full though I did find street parking. As I walked in the counter to order from is on the right and you choose your own seating once you place your order. They had a variety of pastries in the case as she walked up to the cashier. They also had a few breakfast items on the menu and also some soups and salads and sandwiches. I absolutely could not resist the brioche sticky bun! It was as big as my plate. They also had a special of the day of raspberry mocha and I chose that as well. They made my mocha and set it on the end of the counter next to the cashier I picked it up and walked back to my countertop seat. The sticky bun was very tasty nice thick fluffy brioche bread covered in a pile of pecans how can you go wrong? The raspberry mocha was very forward in the raspberry flavor and thick and tasty as well. I am glad I found this place it is just off of Main Street. I did not finish that bun and took the other half home to my hubby. I will have to stop here again and try some of their other menu items. read more

Madison & Main is a terrific little shop in the heart of the downtown Franklin area. I love the history of the building which was once the first hospital in Johnson County. The exposed brick in the interior and nice patio outside all works wonders for a great aesthetic. The pastries are massive. It's a spot where you could share with another person and still be content, or complete fill a very hungry individual. While the price for the pastries might be higher the size makes it easily justifiable. On my most recent stop I got one of the giant cinnamon rolls. It was massive and tasted amazing. It was soft throughout and no bite didn't have some delicious cinnamon sugar mix. I love the icing which seemed more whipped which I loved as it added a lightness to it. The service was quick with minimal wait time. I was able to ask the cashier/worker for their recommendations and they offered to heat up the cinnamon which added another level to it. If you're on the south side of Indianapolis or passing by Franklin, a stop here would definitely be worth it. read more

This historic doctor's-office-turned-coffee-shop is located in the center of Franklin, Indiana's beautiful, well-kept downtown. The exterior is gorgeous and makes you want to go inside, no matter what they're offering. We walked inside and it's just as beautiful inside. The wood interior feels like a cozy cabin and there's even a porch out front. They have a big counter of freshly-made pastries, as well as a breakfast, coffee/latte, and cocktail menu. I got a yummy ham and cheese croissant and my mom got an egg sandwich, which she claimed was the best she ever had. I also loved that they have a mini marketplace that sells local goods such as Chocolate for the Spirit toffee (pricey, my absolute favorite of all time), B. We stopped in here on our way to a Columbus Yelp event. I'm glad this was suggested for the drive down because it was so good! I frequent the art craft theater and it's right across the street so it will be easy to find. I had the Italian Fizz and WOW! I will certainly be back for this and all their goodies! The drink reminded me of a really great shower punch, you know, like the ones you get at a baby shower or wedding shower. It was SO good and refreshing. I got the blueberry danish to split with my mom that was with me and that was fabulous too. We went through the line and had to circle back around for the 7 layer cookie, the blondie brownie, and the peanut butter stuffed peanut butter cookie because thought we would regret it if we left and didn't try the stuff we were drooling over.
