Every single bite was amazing! And they got me a table without a reservation! My service was so kind from everyone who assisted me. And it was a beautiful place. I can't rate this place high enough.

Our server made my night! She made one of the BEST Italian cream sodas that I have ever had! The atmosphere of the restaurant is great for meeting up with friends for a nice meal out or for a date. The food myself and my coworker ordered was over peppered and took away from the natural flavor of what the dish could have been. I love pepper, but this was next level. I would potentially give this place another try, but would just clearly specify less pepper seasoning.

Lucca's restaurant never disappoints! Took my vegetarian parents to celebrate my dad's birthday. The staff was amazing and accommodated their dietary needs. I called a day ahead and several options were offered for their meals. Very thankful to the staff- Hats off to the chef(s).

This was, without exaggeration, the worst and most absurd "fine dining" experience of my life…read more My sister made a reservation the day after Thanksgiving for 6:30 p.m. on New Year's Eve--an entire month in advance. We arrived a few minutes early and were greeted by...nothing. No hostess. No check-in. Just a growing crowd of confused couples and families standing in the hallway. After about five minutes of watching absolutely nothing happen, my sister went inside. Other guests confirmed they also had not seen a hostess and were unsure if one existed. Eventually, my sister tracked down the bartender, who explained that their online reservation system had "done something" and tables were double-booked. Once tables cleared, we should be seated. No list was made. No names were taken. It was first come, first hope. We ordered drinks and stood at the bar. My sister felt bad for the people still waiting at the door and explained the situation. Several wisely left. (We should have followed.) Thirty minutes in, we asked for bread and received four slices of focaccia for a party of seven. My mom--now officially hangry--asked to see a manager. None appeared. She went to the restroom in the hotel lobby next door and struck up a conversation with the front desk clerk, who generously gave us complimentary warm DoubleTree cookies. The hotel next door had better service than the restaurant we were supposedly dining in. We continued waiting with zero communication. When we finally stopped a waitress to ask, we were told "15 more minutes," because customers were lingering too long over their food. While standing at the bar, we noticed coffee mugs full of wine being sent into the kitchen. There were no bussers, no barbacks, no hostess--just three waitresses and a bartender working New Year's Eve. After two hours, we were finally seated. We ordered another round of drinks. My wine never arrived, though I was assured it would be "right back." After 15 minutes, I went to the bar myself to retrieve it. When our orders were taken, we were informed they were out of their specials and the four-course dinner. Salads arrived, and then we were told the waitress forgot to order two veal dishes. We could wait an additional 30 minutes for one of them to be re-fired. Also, they were out of the potato side, but we would receive extra vegetables instead. My sister opted to skip her veal and just eat her pasta side. Shortly after, I realized I never received my salad and again had to go to the bar to ask for it. When the entrées finally arrived, my "extra vegetables" turned out to be two lonely asparagus spears. When I asked about the rest, the waitress shrugged. My father's seafood fettuccine came with two shrimp, and the calamari was raw. He pointed this out; the waitress apologized but did not offer to comp the dish or fix it. She did explain that some kids were helping the chef/owner, who was in a bad mood and "won't talk to her." Moral of the story: if you cannot handle service on New Year's Eve, do not offer it. And please, hire a manager. I suppose it could have been worse--honestly, just read the other reviews.

TL;DR - great pizza, crazily affordable, amazing service…read more The pizza here is really good. A lot of pizza places are so-so to decent and get by because 'pizza is pizza, right?' Wrong. This is a joint I would be at weekly if I lived anywhere remotely close. The crust is just right--flavorful, thin, and has a chew. It's not a cracker and it's not bread. The cheese is good--good melt, good flavor, good browning. The sauce is really tasty (important!!). Toppings good, they know to ask whether you want greens (in my case arugula) on before or after-bake, they know what 'well done' means. [Quick aside, I don't know how people who make pizza for their job don't know what 'well done' means but seemingly 95% of people at pizza places don't. Thankfully Bullman's knows.] Do I wish I got the larger pizza? Yes. Do I wish I ordered two pizzas and took one to go regardless of the certain jokes I would've heard from my colleagues for years? Yes. Was the smaller pizza somehow still filling? Also, yes. My bill was $9, people. Nine. In this economy?! If you live in Helena and you aren't reading this review from inside the restaurant, or at home eating their pizza, you need to get your priorities in order.

I was a bit surprised by the smallness of the table area, and when we arrived there around 7:30pm it was BUSY! We got the only table, and that was nice but it was LOUD. Loudest restaurant we've been in in a long time. The menu items sounded good, and We made our orders. We saw the pizzas delivered to our neighboring table, which was seemingly only inches from us, lol, and the crusts seemed unevenly cooked and burned, and we weren't sure. When the food arrived though, it tasted better than it looked. The crusts were SUPER thin though, I guess because it's cooked in an open fire oven, but it tasted good regardless of the way it appeared. The all meat pizza was a little disappointing with the amount of meat that was on it, and the herb bread appetizer was super thin too, so the entire meal just about was finished with hardly any leftovers. With tip, it was $100 to eat there, so it was pretty pricey and the value wasn't as high as I would hope. It's not bad though, and it's quite different than most of the other pizza places around. It's definitely worth a try because of it's uniqueness.

So I had an interesting experience here…read more I sat down at the bar and asked the bartender if they had a menu. She replied, "Lucca's is closed" referring to the Italian restaurant next door. I replied, "No, a drinks menu" to which she did not give me a menu but said, "Do you like sweet drinks?" At this point I had no idea where this conversation was going but I replied, "No.." and then she said okay and handed me a menu. I asked why and she said that she can make better drinks than what the menu says. She said she only liked a couple drinks on the menu (ginger basil martini, prairie press, and maybe the huckleberry mule and that's it) and she also does not recommend any of the wines. The brutal honesty is good for me and bad for the bar, but some saleswoman she is I guess? Who knows. I asked her if she was the only person who had these strong opinions about the menu and she said no and that all the bartenders felt the same way. If everyone feels the same way about them and they're the ones who have to serve customers then they should make a change right? It's just weird that you have that attitude towards the business and then project that toward the customers. I said I'd listen to her recommendations and ordered the ginger basil martini ($12) which was actually pretty good. It's refreshing and slightly sweet from the sugar rim. She mentioned that she made the drink less sweet because she knew that I didn't like sweet drinks and then went on that menus can't offer the same personalization as a bartender who listens. I mean I guess the intention is good that she wants to be able to personalize cocktails to the customer's taste preferences but again the attitude of going on and on about how you're a great and thoughtful bartender just rubbed me the wrong way. For my second drink I wasn't going to order off the menu so I asked if she could make a last word. She didn't know what that was and I told her how to make it. She replied, "I don't know what green chartreuse is." I said, "Okay never mind, how about a paper plane?" Again she did not know what that was and I listed the ingredients and she said, "What's amaro?" At this point I'm frustrated so I just ordered an old fashioned ($12). You go on and on about how you can get creative and make a variety of drinks but you don't even know what green chartreuse or amaro are. So you're not as knowledgeable of a bartender as you think you are. The same type of attitude and boastfulness happened after the second drink as it did the first. I seriously couldn't wait to finish my drink and get out of there which never happens. It felt like lazy bartending for not amazing cocktails for craft cocktail prices. The negativity and complaining is just not the vibe I want at a bar. Another note: the men's restroom does not lock but not just that, it does not close all the way so it's always slightly open outward and I don't know why no one has bothered to fix that. Many things are very wrong here; I don't how to fix them but it just didn't give me a good vibe and left a bad taste in my mouth.
