I have purchased glasses from them before and wanted to buy local again. The glasses that I got…read morethis last time were more difficult to adjust to than the previous ones so I did not wear them much for the first year that I had them. They are now 3 years old, but have been worn for only 2 years. The lenses are starting to delaminate and are foggy where this is occurring which is on the lower edge where the reading part of the bifocal sits and beyond. When I took them in to show them how the lense was coming apart, I was told the warranty was only good for 1 year so there was nothing they would do about it. These glasses cost $601. Many of us wear glasses for more than 1 year and expect them to be functional for longer than that if the prescription does not change. I consider this a manufacturing fault and believe that they should have given me some sort of compensation for how poorly these were made. I will not use Samuelson again.

A few minutes later she came back and said I have some bad news... ok she's kidding with me. Nope she wasn't. She broke my frames in half. During an adjustment? Really? She stated she'd have new frames within the week. I leave on vacation in two days. She then said she'd try to get them there sooner. Ok so now how do I get home? I don't live very far away but I can't see without them much less drive the vehicle I came in. So now what? Nobody offered any advice to me as to what to do next. I then asked the girl at the front desk if I can have the pieces so I can hold one lens up to my eye to see my way home. she said she'd ask. The front desk girl came back to ask if it was ok to tape them together temporarily I said ok. Another twenty minutes go by and no taped glasses. So again I asked the girl at the desk how long it was going to take. The response was "I don't know I don't work back there, but I'll see". The girl at the desk then returned my broken glasses to me taped together with scotch tape. Really? Twenty minutes to stick them together with scotch tape? Did I mention that the girl who broke my glasses never talked to me personally again? Nor did anyone apologize for their actions? I bought this pair of glasses from them, maybe they'll replace the frames they broke, but I will never use this facility again! I'm rating them a 1 because a 0 wasn't available.

More importantly, I question their billing practices. I was advised during my appointment that if insurance didn't pay for their "Funds Photograpy" then I would be billed $39. However, I received a bill for $65.47. It's not a lot of money but when I asked their billing department to adjust, they refused. Horrible billing manager. Beware, and get in writing what they are going to charge for their services. I question their ethics.

I don't buy my contacts there because they're almost double the price of what I can buy them for at Costco. They will give you a printed prescription if you ask. My insurance now covers the $35 for the imaging of the back of my eye but even before it was covered it was well worth the $35 to not have half a day where I cannot see because I had my pupils dilated. I'm taking off a star because of a couple issues. I brought my glasses in to have the prescription read last year and it was never entered into my chart I was then told I would need to make an appointment to bring them in for a second time to have them read. It's really inconvenient to have to take off time from work for a mistake they made as they're not open on Saturdays. The second issue being that the eye doctor seemed really annoyed with me that I haven't gotten the new glasses she wants me to get. I have had the same glasses for about 10 years and don't feel I am having issues with seeing out of them--in fact I still wear them instead of my contacts if I am doing up close work like embroidery. When I asked if the new prescription was much different than the glasses I already have they were unable to tell me since they read and then didn't enter the prescription. They asked if I brought my glasses with me--why would I when I brought them last year? They also seemed annoyed that I am not wearing readers when I use the computer which I explained was because they give me a headache. I was told to use a lower power, which would only be available somewhere online, and should hold the lens up to light to see if they look distorted--hard to do when buying online. I decided not to explain that I had tried a couple different strengths and found they all gave me a headache. Just didn't sit super well with me to feel like I'm trying to explain I'm seeing well and I'm being told I just need to buy the new glasses and I have to wear readers. My parents had a similar feeling about their eye visits with the same eye doctor. I'll give them another shot but after that I'll ask to see someone else.

I decided it was time to get a refund and move on... I fortunately landed in the hands of a an excellent optometrist and staff at Verona Vision Center. We are talking top notch experts in their field. The quality of service from the phone call to the exam to the fitting to receiving my glasses is a 10+. My lenses are crisp and clear. It's wonderful to see so clearly out of the high quality material they use. I just can't say enough about the optomotrists level of skill, knowledge and expertise, and the quality of service by her and the other 3 staff members I encountered regarding reception, fitting, and pucking up my glasses. I highly recommend this vision center.

I had to call back the following Monday, the 6th. It was Lisa that answered again. I explained that she had previously told me she would call back to schedule an appointment and I haven't heard from her. Instead of offering any sort of apology or acknowledgement, she just replied, "are you available Tuesday?". I appreciate that Lisa tried to call back, but my answering system caught her saying, "and she wonders why she can't get an appointment". The snide remark from the owner of a small business gives me pause. Being in a family of small business owners and having worked in one for half my life, what being in a family-owned business has taught me is, above all, humility and exercising consideration to make your customers feel cared for. This was not the feeling I received from my interaction with Lisa. Based on my initial experience, I am not confident that any future experience will be different. It's too bad because the clinic is right down the road from me.

From the time I scheduled the appointment to the actual appointment there were several checks on insurance coverage and payment, but not one question why I am making the appointments. I do undertstand the need to get paid for service but this should have tipped me off that the business has more of a transactional focus than a care focus. My appointment was with Dr. Kovacs and she was very professional and pleasant. Thorough, not rushed and explained everything. I would recommend her. The reception and sales staff on the other hand couldn't seem to be bothered. I had better service at the DMV. Very cold and unpleasant. Frankly, I could not wait to leave even though ordering glasses and contact lenses online or at another store is an inconvenience. Perhaps its because its a realtively new location or just lack of training. I do prefer working with local businesses but this expereince was unfortunately dissapointing.

I found Wright Vision Care online, looked at the reviews, and took a shot. So glad that I did! The staff is absolutely friendly and they are knowledgeable! They have an option for checking your eyes without dilation. They gave excellent recommendations for new glasses and even fixed problems with my then-current glasses, which I did not get from there. And they called a week after I picked up my new glasses to make sure everything was still working well. So glad that we are now patients of this terrific place!
