I have had two computers fixed by Lucent Computer. One had a software problem that I could not fix because it would not start. The second one had hardware power supply problems. I could not keep it running and I had no way to determine what hardware was broken because the diagnostic software could not identify the defective hardware. Lucent Computer fixed both problems quickly. The cost was a fraction of a new computer. read more

Great service and honest repair work!! I already had a reasonably sure guess at the issue my MacBook Pro was having. I was able to diagnose it but didn't have the technical skills or desire to attempt a repair. I dropped it off at Lucent and they diagnosed it correctly and repaired it promptly. This is important because the type of repair (display cable) could have easily turned into a more expensive screen replacement. Not only are they technically proficient and able to make quality repairs, they are also honest. They have earned my future business and I will not hesitate to come back. read more

My son broke a computer in 5 min, I just give him and I could not fix. Apple was booked for a month Best Buy was 150$ I called this location he took it right away and only charged 70$ to fix and it took an hour. read more

Had a positive experience with this establishment as usual. They repaired my Dell desktop at minimal cost. The owner worked extra hours to get my issue fixed at no additional cost to me. Al with Lucent Computer was very knowledgeable about my MacBook and why the screen randomly broke. He was able to fix it at a rate less than what a friend told me. He told me he'd be able to fix it within a day and he did. I was notified of the ETA of completion via text. I picked it up the next day and it works brand new again -- thank goodness because I didn't want to buy a new laptop. Stay away from this place if you are a Mac user. The gent who runs this place treats his customers with a high disregard and utter rudeness, and does not demonstrate a basic set of knowledge needed to effectively help. For starters, he quoted me a price to replace the SSD drive in my iMac, which was part of the fusion drive in my machine. After I brought it in for servicing, I asked that he install a specific version of the OS X on it. He wanted to charge me an additional $80, for something that he was going to have to do in the first place to demonstrate that he had completed the work. (Yes I know technically he could've booted off of his own prepared service drive or from a network server, but he did not have either). Although I had my own bootable backup at home, I was in a bind in my situation, so I reluctantly accepted the additional charge. Then I asked to make sure that if he's going to be paid for installing the OS, to make sure that the Recovery Drive was done correctly and working. He wanted to claim that the recovery drive was not part of the install and that a Mac boots from the cloud for that (It doesn't). I corrected him on his wrong information. He argued otherwise again. I indicated that I can show him what I'm referring to if he'd like. He dared me to do so, then practically threw a keyboard and mouse at me in disgust as I I asked for one to boot my machine to demonstrate it to him (I'm think why should I be doing this for a Mac service center...?). As I started to boot in Recovery mode with use of keyboard, he walked away. I had to ask him to return when the Recovery Mode boot was completed. I pointed out that this was what I expected. I even showed him the 2 different partitions. He said that he couldn't do that and that the iMac actually booted from Apple's iCloud. Again I corrected him on his misinformation, but he was still insistent. I asked him if he connected the machine to his network. He correctly replied that he hadn't. I then pointed out that there was no way to gain internet access to boot from iCloud if he didn't even connect the machine to a network. (Although we all know that you can't boot from iCloud anyway... ugh... but even if you could, you'd have to establish network access first...) After this exchange, he hastily grabbed the mouse and keyboard and stated that he wasn't going to argue with me and that I should find another service provider to replace my SSD. As I exited, I thanked him for wasting my time. All in all, I could not recommend this place for service on any equipment, especially Apple products, as it is quite clear he doesn't have a firm grasp on certain concepts, is rude and condescending to customers, and he also sneakily adds additional charges for work he has to do anyway as part of what he was tasked to do in the first place. read more

IIt has been a while since I needed anything done at Lucent Computer but with the purchase of my new iMac desktop, a few weeks ago, I then faced the issue of transferring data from my old Sony desktop to the new Apple. Having already had a very good experience with Lucent, I knew I wanted them to do the transferring. My computer was purchased at Best Buy but knowing the Geek Squad had higher prices, my confidence in getting this task done quickly and professionally remained with Mr. Abassi at Lucent in Lawrenceville. I was not disappointed. However, a couple of weeks after I picked up my computer, I faced an issue of photos not being transferred. This turned out to be an issue I created when I downloaded my photos in different places. Mr. Abassi told me what to bring in. He rectified the situation at no cost to me. It is great to know that even us "non techies" have a local electronic business which can be, not only professional, but also old school caring! read more

Very disappointed, I trusted them with my computer and they wiped my hard drive; intentionally. I changed my mind about service, I was told it was to late, as they had started back up of hard drive (for screen replacement). After walking out, to my car the technician came out and told me I could take my laptop. Just finished screen repair with another technician and my hard drive had been wiped! read more

I recently had my laptop fixed here. Sam was knowledgable about what was best and needed for me. He didn't push and was very genuine. The only thing I wish was better was the communication. While it was being fixed I had to call up on the status a few times because I had no idea what was going on or when it would be ready. $477 dollars and 2 6 weeks of going back and forward down the drain. My computer had to go back 5 times and still does not work properly. They said it would cost in between 200 and 400 to fix my computer. I was hoping for 200 but they came back and said that worse case scenario of me needing a new motherboard. I was cool with that. But imagine spending the highest price and still going back 5 times to get the problem resolved and and I still had to go spend 475 at another store to get the exact same problem fixed. They would not give me a refund. So basically I paid $477 for them to wipe off the outside of my computer and wipe my hard drive clean. Lesson learned. read more

I worked with Lucent Computer to restore a 2011 iMac to full working order. It had been crashing with increasing frequency, and finally stopped working altogether. There turned out to be multiple issues with the hardware, which was quite a challenge to unravel. But Ahmed Abassi and I worked patiently and diligently together to get it back to full speed. Good as new! I gave it to my son, who lives in the Atlanta area, and he and his wife are thrilled! Ahmed and his staff were great to work with and their prices very reasonable.
